Best Buddy movie on the internet😊. You guys are what bikepacking is all about. Riding bikes and having fun. Cheers for credit card camping. Thanks for taking the time to film this for us to enjoy. Cheers 🌞🚴♀️🖖
Can't thank you enough for taking us on your bike packing adventures. Love the footage, it allows me to live vicariously through you both. You and Rob keep me stoked on riding! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Chris, I've been on a 2 week vacation, and I knew this video was out, but I refused to watch it on a phone, and waited to watch it on the big screen at home. I've never been so happy to wait for something. Incredible... as always. You and Parker make the world of bikepacking so much richer. You actually make a super compelling case for the joys of credit card camping too... and I don't blame you one bit with all that rain. You both have the most infectiously positive attitudes and I admire you both so much! Thanks for putting all the time and energy into this one! You've got me planning out my own WXA now!
Yay!, you're back. I was getting worried that you guys got other jobs or something hideous like that. Glad to see the most fun duo out there being the goofy hero's that you are.
I was about to go to bed and then this video appeared on my homepage. It was great to meet you Chris. Congrats on your OTT finish. I look forward to your next adventures. - Kyle
Is this KYLE PHILLIPS COX! Dude, you're my hero and congrats to YOU on your OTT finish! Excited to start working on the OTT video. I hope we cross paths again sometime and maybe you'll slow down for a bit so we can ride together 😂!
@pnwbikepacking Yes, this is KYLE PHILLIPS COX! You know you are in race mode when your luxury item is a 1/8" thick sleeping pad. Next time we cross paths, I would definitely like to ride together. The Dark Divide and Stagecoach 400 have been on my mind for awhile. I am excited for the OTT video.
This is my favorite Bikepacking channel. I anxiously wait for your videos and I am never disappointed. Y’all keep up the great work, but more importantly keep having fun!
The legends return with another banger! Thanks for the laughter, great work putting that together for a second time. I love watching your videos. Captures "don't got to be fun to be fun" perfectly😂 Miss you😊
It was really good to see you guys out there. I actually stayed in the same hotel as you in Port Angeles, but I didn't get there till 10 pm. After doing 90 miles the first day, my legs we like noodles. I made as far as Snoqualmie by day 4 or 5. I had to give up due to a knee injury. I was honored to make a cameo in your video. I definitely shared it with all my friends and family.
ROSSSSS!!! We were wondering what happened with you,and I was hoping you'd watch the video and comment! Dude good on you getting to Port Angeles, thats a long day! Those first few days are the toughest! I remember when Rob and I did this route the first time, reaching PA on day 1 would have been unfathomable haha. Sorry about the knee injury, that sucks! Think you'll give it another go next year? Hope to run into you again sometime!
Thank you! You should try to push it a little further next time, just remember, at the end of the day, it isn’t about the number of miles you covered. Cheers!
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos! I’ve made a few in my day and it’s not easy. Carrying all that extra weight and taking the time to set-up the shot. Well done! You two are the perfect example of what riding bikes is all about: having fun! 🎬🍺👊🏻
Thanks for always tagging us along in your adventures Chris! Any avid bike packer realizes that it’s a lot of work and extra weight to bring your camera gear and be constantly setting up the camera for shots during riding. And the XWA looks like such a beautiful bike packing route. A lot of the lush greenery definitely resembles my local area, which is in the beautiful Appalachian mountains in Pennsylvania. And glad to see the return of Rob😂. Gordon was fun along the AZT trail video , but doesn’t match the energy Rob brought to the videos. Thanks again and glad to see you enjoying some brews along the way 🍻😀
Thanks for watching! I have yet to make it out East with my bike... it looks like there are some pretty quality routes though... maybe 2025... hmm maybe I could scam Rob AND Gordon to join me! THAT would be fun!
I live in the Willamette valley, so I've been loving your videos and contributions on the Bikepacking website because it's all so close to home! I was able to ride the Oregon Outback Trail this June, longest trip so far. Truly showed me that I have to do another, and I believe your perspectives will be integral to that next trip :)
A nice thing about this route is it is pretty varied terrain, so you get a little bit of everything. Looking forward to you putting out the best XWA video yet 😉! Thanks for watching David!
Awesome video! I’m trying to get my daily mileage up. Don’t know how you guys can do 100 miles days. Thanks for taking the time to make, edit and post this video. Love your channel. Great meeting you and Rob on the McKenzie River Trail. Safe travels
Hey David! Yeah, it was nice to meet you on the McKenzie! I don't know how we did 100 mile days either haha. I think the trick is to go slow, but ride for a long time! Hope we cross paths again someday! Cheers.
Congrats on the ride and video - my wife and I agreed it’s your best one yet. We ran into you and Parker on the Olympic Adventure trail last summer and then saw you at the pizza place in PA.
I've gotten to 13:39 of the video where the guys are on the phones with their significant others. One of my favorite parts of the vid. Feel free to include more stuff like this in the future, guys! Love ya!
This is one outstanding video and fun to watch the dynamic duo together again,. Another well produced video. Enjoyed every minute as I set in a recliner after Achilles tendon surgery. Be back on the bike in October I hope.. Thanks again for the video and until next time. Take care, Al
Great story Chris. You captured the adventure, the people, the challenges and triumphs. I didn't know these rides were drinking tours of the state, complete with warm dry pillows, but I learn new things all the time. I'd like to do this route in maybe three segments sometime. Pacific Ocean to Edmonds, Edmonds to Wenatchee and Wenatchee to Idaho.
Another great video. I’ve followed you for a while now. Trying to catch up on your videos though. My wife and I were visiting family in Wenatchee and were riding Douglas Creek area when you came through. We had loaded our bikes in my truck and were with you on the last climb out near the waterfall. Tried not to dust you out but you waved us on. Had told you guys that the rider ahead had took his shoes off at the first creek crossing and we talked to him the whole time while put them back on before remembering to tell him there’s like another 4 or 5 crossings coming in the next mile or so. My bad. Had no idea that was you two. We had a few crossing with riders that day and made some connections on the xWa page to share a few pics. Anyways, small world. Keep the great videos coming.
Another great video! Love this and love the XWA although it's not easy. The OAT was my favorite part. When I did my ITT in 2022, I got to Moses Lake on 4th of July weekend. It was definitely like a Mad Max movie! Loved having John meet me at the end, too. On a Sunday morning at 8 AM! He's the best. You guys should join me on the Grand Depart for the Arkansas High Country Race in October. I'm looking forward to exploring a new to me area! Can't wait for more videos. Keep them coming!
OAT is definitely the best part! Sheesh you've ridden everything Corrine! 😂. That is awesome that John met you at the end! He was up at like 2:30 AM for the first place finisher this year and drove him to the train station in Spokane! Sheesh, what a life saver! One day Rob and I will get our shit together and head up to Alaska and we'll hit you up hah. Oh my god, I just looked up the Arkaansas High Country Race... that looks so brutal! Will you have a tracker? I want to follow you on your race!!!
.....and yes....Cheese-Its rock. I do believe it is an acquired taste but when you get there...in the right situation they're perfect. 😅 Great video!!! Thanks for bringing us along!!!!
...commenting while I'm watching....the snake at 29.21....gopher snake? ..... super cool footage of that guy (or gal) telling y'all whose boss. Very....very cool!!!!
Loved the video! You guys did an amazing job! I've been waiting for this one. I was hoping you had more video on the sketchy, 4.1 stars rating (how!?), "question life choices" Motel Oasis. :)
You guys really nailed the XWA experience. Your time was impressive too especially given the number of beers consumed! Seriously though, unless you are going for the "podium" best to stick to riding this route in the day. I rode a good bit at night and wound up regretting when i did.(Dogs, bulls, unfriendly locals).
Yeesh riding at night getting chased by dogs sounds horrible! Glad we didn't have to live through that! We'll stick to calling it when the sun starts to set...for now!
I found your video and it clue'd me into the route ... got out there and did it myself ... though it took me a few attempts -- want to get back out and do it again with my other biking friend as he has yet to do it all himself so ... have to try and get him out on it on a GD when stars align for it
Yesssss!!!! The Boyz are BACK !!!!!! Truth be told, you fellas are my favorites. Love your videos !!!! How f***ing close to that snake were you ? Hold my beer 😂😂😂 😂😂😂
Thank you so much!!! I was excited to make this video and share the trip with everyone. Hahaha, yeah told Rob to hold my beer then decided to get all close up on the snake! Probably like 1-2 feet away with the lens. In retrospect, we should have left the poor guy alone!
These videos are like therapy. Seriously glad to see any time you upload. Fantastic video as usual. Is there a link to a portfolio of your photos? If not, there should be. Landscape is the best form of photography imo. Great stuff fellas!
Thanks for the kind words!!! No, I don't have a link to the photos... ill think about aggregating them somewhere though. That could be cool to have and look through!
This video is epic! Thanks for sharing it! Some of my highlights were: head-to-toe in the Xmid, "Feels like grandma' house", the tumbleweed fade shot, and the overall music choices! I loved it all though! One question: how did you get back to your car?
Thanks for watching! Generally im stoked on it, but I haven't taken it on enough rides to make a full conclusion. For routes with a lot of tame gravel, I like riding with drop bars. Routes with more single track, I definitely prefer my flat bar hard tail mtb. On the XWA, you get both, but the majority of the route falls under tame(ish) gravel so Chumba was the right choice! You'll see it in future videos and ill be able to give you a better assessment!
Loved your video guys! I've ridden part of that trail, from Easton to Vantage, but hoping to do the whole thing later this fall. Question for you: is it possible to put in decent mileage and stay in hotels every night so as to avoid carrying camping gear?
Thanks for watching. Absolutely. Thats basically what we ended up doing. We only camped on night two. If you didn't schlep around a bunch of camping kit, you could go super light and move a lot faster (or move at a more relaxed pace). We finished in 7 days 10ish hours. If you wanted to stay in hotels each night it would look something like this: 1. Port Angeles 2. Port Gamble/Edmonds 3. North Bend 4. Ellensburg 5. Wenatchee 6. Moses Lake 7. Ritzville 8. Finish in Tekoa Keep in mind lodging in Tekoa is limited/non existent! There is a tiny park in the town where you can camp... but obviously you wouldn't have camping gear. So you'd need to look more into this. Good luck!
Currently I am using an Ulanzi Falcam F38 Quick Release backpack strap to attach my camera to my shoulder strap. I have also used a Peak Designs Capture clip which works just as well. I use the Ulanzi right now because the quick release plate works with my tripod. In my experience, this is the best solution for carrying your camera and keeping it very accessible while riding! Hope this helps!
Oh dear god, I lived across 522 from Blythe, that place is the worst when it's raining. Used that park with the Student League to practice switch back climbing and descending. Any reason you didn't go around on the Samammish river trail to Issy? Or that's just the route to make it hard af?
We do quite a few trips that don't make the cut. Sometimes we bring the camera and I film, but don't end up making the video, other times I just leave the camera at home. We also go on trips together that aren't bikepacking related so it doesn't really fit the channel.
Hey Gmack! Parker is rocking a Salsa Anything Cradle with a Hyperlite Mountain Gear dynema dry bag. I would advise AGAINST using that dry bag for a front cradle, at least as the primary bag. It's a bit too fragile in my opinion. Parker got a hole in his after like 2 trips. It might be good as a redundant waterproofing solution. Put the dynema bag inside a more durable stuff sack.
Undecided, but probably not! My first bikepacking rig was a Salsa Fargo. I sold it to get my Karate Monkey. Over the last 2-3 years i've dreamed about a drop bar MTN bike with a little front sus... so I treated myself to a new bike. This was the first ride with it. I think for the type of terrain I typically like riding, I have more fun on my flat bar hardtail.
Loving your new swear word. 😂 Everyone uses my name in vain a few times out there. Great job guys.
Thanks again for putting this route together Troy! Hopefully we cross paths a gain sometime where both are riding bikes. Cheers!
I like Rob's nickname for the Colockum: "Cloaca" ;-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloaca

Cheers for credit card camping. Thanks for taking the time to film this for us to enjoy.
Cheers 🌞🚴♀️🖖
Thanks for watching!!! Hah yeah, this was definitely an unintentional credit card ride! Oops!
You've got the voice of Ira Glass and the endurance of a XWA rider. It was a treat to watch and listen to.
Thank you so much! I'm a big fan of Ira and my cadence in the voice over is obviously influenced by him.
Can't thank you enough for taking us on your bike packing adventures. Love the footage, it allows me to live vicariously through you both. You and Rob keep me stoked on riding! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you for watching! Keeping people stoked on a bike is my favorite part of making these videos!!!
The views and friendship can't be beat. Thank you for sharing the fun!
Thanks for watching the video!
Man I love your videos. Such a hoot watching you and Rob pal around through these adventures.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yeesh! That does sound hideous 😂! I've got another video in the works, hopefully it won't take as long! As always, thanks for watching Jake!
Yay new video!
In all seriousness these are my favorite videos!
Thanks dude, means a lot! Hope you enjoy!

"Hold my beer" I like the helpful tutorial of how to drain a frame bag when in need. Had me rolling. hahhah.
That’s what I was about to tell Paul before I started up bunchgrass but everyone decided to get a shuttle 😖!
That was fun to watch! The adventure and fun totally came through, along with the suffering. Well done.
Thank you, and I (hopefully) didn't butcher the pronunciation of any towns 😂
Yeah, great to see you guys out again! Congrats on your finish and improvement from the first run!

Appreciate that!!! I am hoping to do the Colorado trail next year! It's probably going to nearly kill me and take me two weeks, but should be a blast!
@@pnwbikepacking Two weeks??? You'll be killing it at that pace in my books!
Well done fellas! Glad to see another adventure. Chris, how ya liking that dropbar chumba? Look forward to the next one!
You'll see it in future videos and ill be able to give you a better assessment!
good see you bikepackin again chris, a lot of new stuff hey new video, new helmet, new bike??? but nothings new with rob 😂 ✌🏼✌🏼 rob...
Bahhaha so funny! Rob and I loved this comment. Thanks for watching and calling me out!!!!!😂 😂 😂

Thank you!
I loved seeing all the different kinds of terrain in Washington - it seems really varied! Also is that a new Chumba Yapoun?
It sure is!! Haven't had much time with it, but excited to get it out more this year!
Getting some Ira Glass vibes w/ your commentary voice!
Hah, I've been listening to a litttttle too much This American Life!
🤷🏼♂️well it's about stinking time 🦨 for a new episode.
Hah, better late than never. Thanks for watching.
Cool man! What kind of welding shields are those?
I want a movie in which you guys solve a crime in the PNW on your bikes, with the same vibe as your tour videos, greenlit immediately.
Haha, I like this idea sounds like a lot of fun!
If you wanted to stay in hotels each night it would look something like this:
1. Port Angeles
2. Port Gamble/Edmonds
3. North Bend
4. Ellensburg
5. Wenatchee
6. Moses Lake
7. Ritzville
8. Finish in Tekoa
Keep in mind lodging in Tekoa is limited/non existent! There is a tiny park in the town where you can camp... but obviously you wouldn't have camping gear. So you'd need to look more into this. Good luck!
Love yalls videos. What are you using to attach your camera to your bag by your shoulder? Is it part of the bag or an attachment?
Currently I am using an Ulanzi Falcam F38 Quick Release backpack strap to attach my camera to my shoulder strap. I have also used a Peak Designs Capture clip which works just as well. I use the Ulanzi right now because the quick release plate works with my tripod. In my experience, this is the best solution for carrying your camera and keeping it very accessible while riding! Hope this helps!
Your videos are so rad! May I ask which bottle buckets you guys are using on your handlebars?
Hey Mike. Rob uses Revelate Designs and I use Dispersed Gear. Thanks for watching.
Oh dear god, I lived across 522 from Blythe, that place is the worst when it's raining. Used that park with the Student League to practice switch back climbing and descending.
Any reason you didn't go around on the Samammish river trail to Issy? Or that's just the route to make it hard af?
always curious about your rigs... is that a hardtail drop bar setup?
Lockman Overpass
Do you guys do trips off-camera in addition to the ones you publish or is what we see pretty much all the trips you do together?
We do quite a few trips that don't make the cut. Sometimes we bring the camera and I film, but don't end up making the video, other times I just leave the camera at home. We also go on trips together that aren't bikepacking related so it doesn't really fit the channel.
Subscribed! whats parkers handlebar cradle thingo called?
@@pnwbikepacking But his cradle works all good?
I'd never get a dyneema dry bag.
I don't think I'd buy anything dyneema again personally.
@g_mack cradle is solid!
@@pnwbikepacking legend thank you so much.
See your running drops on this adventure. You like it better?
Undecided, but probably not! My first bikepacking rig was a Salsa Fargo. I sold it to get my Karate Monkey. Over the last 2-3 years i've dreamed about a drop bar MTN bike with a little front sus... so I treated myself to a new bike. This was the first ride with it. I think for the type of terrain I typically like riding, I have more fun on my flat bar hardtail.
