I only have two critiques: First is of Lucario's face appearing slightly flattened, though that's a matter of preference. Second is motion in the piece, which feels less like a snapshot of a fight scene 😥👊
One of the reasons why I love the Matrix (and this scene in particular) is because it's always easy for me to follow who's fighting who: the fighters are always in a wide frame (unless there's a closer detail), the camera is steady and follows them throughout the entire scene. In many films, the camera is shaky, the frame is too small for me to see who's the bad guy and who's the good guy, the frame's often too narrow or the camera view changes a lot. Didn't realise it back then, but it's crystal clear to me now.
When they do that is to show the chaos of a fight. Unfortunately, it takes away from viewing the fight, it helps hide how unskilled are the actors. In other words it’s made by people who can’t fight. Where as in the matrix, the actors went through six months of CMA training.
Agree with this. The filming on this must have taken ages to get all the shots exactly the way they wanted. There are a lot of cuts here and really effective camera angles throughout.
