As a Challenger Scat Pack owner this is a feel good video and I do take very good care of my cars, glad to hear your story & keep up the good maintenance on your Charger!
I also love that you've kept it mostly stock/clean. It's one of the things we got the most commentary on about our R/T as well. The Charger is an excellent-looking vehicle and makes impact - even with the smallest alterations - but even right out-of-the-box.
My 2015 scatpack had complete engine failure from lifters at 40k miles, the driveshaft failed at 73k miles, the PDS failed at 60k miles, fucking nightmare. Now has 102k miles and been fine since the repairs which were all under warranty thankfully
My challenger scatpack is the same year same color. I'm at 57k miles and I daily drive it, (no road trips). However I drive in track mode only so I've gone through 6 sets of Nittos tires. I absolutely love it, no problems whatsoever.

I had a 2014 Charger R/T in TorRed with the 5.7 Hemi. I bought it in 2015 with 22k miles and traded it in four years later with 202k miles. She ran like a tank the entire time. These Chargers are reliable as Camrys, tough as Crown Vics, and gorgeous in a league of their own.
Most V8's if not abused and properly maintained will easily last a few hundred thousand miles. There's plenty of high mile pickup trucks out there to confirm this.
Scat’s and cats are pretty reliable, it’s just people don’t do the break in period and abuse them every chance they get and expect them to run like a Toyota

These engines can be running at 300k and have minor or no issues (as long as your maintenance your car accordingly). Take car of your car and it can last forever.
Wrong they have low tension piston rings just like every other car … at best u will get to 180k then need a engine overhaul …. Been building engines for years ..
I recently started working recon at a dodge dealership & cleaned up a charger Hellcat widebody & damn does it feel comfortable! I'm 6' 2" & 235lbs & I fit like it was made for me 😍 definitely considering trading up to the scat pack 392 widebody
That’s awesome. After the announcement I probably won’t get one (I’d take a used but prices will likely skyrocket), but if I do it’s good to hear about reliability. Good to see no lifter issues.
Your detail and information about the INTERIOR - man this is GOLD. I would equate it to a bed. Sure - you can get a $600 mattress - but dude - how many hours a day do, during your life, do you spend in it? It's the same with your car's interior. While we loved the R/T heated seats, we just had (Katzskin) leather heated seats installed in this newest Charger. The value is real, the feel is amazing and something that anyone that spends or plans to spend time in the cabin really does need to consider.
You mention, later model scats could be of a 5.7 flavor and that's not entirely correct. From factory, all Scats are 6.4L. You could however, add official mopar performance upgrades to an existing 5.7 that they called "scat pack" levels 1, 2, or 3. Got almost 150K on my 2017 Scat - been a great daily!
First off, awesome video. I don't quite understand why people bash on it for being an R/T. As you would know, R/T used to be THE name and the top end of the brand in earlier history, which this vehicle is matching. Other than a supercharger, it is just as great as an SRT anything. Number 1 on the list of naturally aspirated engines in its class *of real muscle* which other people like to throw the name Muscle around a lot-lol. I love the car, she's a garage queen but never ever gets kept in there too long. I've taken her all up and down the east coast and am read to take it West.
Just replaced my 07 Sublime Daytona (136k miles) with a blue Scat Pack. Largely based on the incredible reliability record of nearly 17 years on the Daytona. Only once was I left "stuck" and that was in my slopped driveway. The plastic interlock piece on the shift locking it until the brake pedal is depressed failed. The manual release wouldn't work because of the tension on the locking pawl from the sloped driveway.
You can’t get a scatpack with a 5.7!! And a scatpack atleast from 2019 and up are considered SRT since they have the srt pages etc… only difference is really the leather seats
I have to recommend the Nokian ZLine series of tires for anyone interested in having better handling in wet conditions of any kind. They were an AMAZING, affordable tire, that I'm so sorry I found only at the beginning of our 100,000 miles on our previous Charger. I also urge you to find someone/a shop that will provide some great storytelling about - ANY TIRE YOU POINT AT. There's a difference between giving you ask for, and finding out what you need. Far-too-many shops simply wanna' hawk their most-expensive option/tire-match whatever you've got and we're fortunate enough to have someone that educates us about tires. I really wish I'd have met him when we originally got into our R/T.
Being in California, I am amazed that you don't have the windows tinted. We would be lost without them to be sure. We went darker on the most-recent Charger and - the differences are STARK.
@@LifeatSpeed Oddly, we notice it the MOST on the steering wheel. The heat generated by the Sun on the wheel during 100+ days in the STL humidity is just terrible. The tinting changes all of that and the look of the vehicle in general.
There are definitely huge benefits. Maybe when the new tow rig/family car arrives I'll get that, the Charger and the SRT-4 done. Being out in the Sierra Foothills, we definitely get some serious summer heat.
Bought 2016 charger pursuit 5.7 awd 116k miles $14k. Police do regular maintenance (carfax) so the engine is doing great (inspected twice). Replaced driveshaft thats it. Only at 122k miles but expect to see it run for many more.
The amount of idling and rough driving that car went through. You should check your lifters and your exhaust manifold bolts. 2 of the most common issues for the 5.7. The oil pump relies on the crank to move the oil. So idling isnt getting oil where it needs to go. I speak from experience on a personal level and a chrysler certified level lol
I really need your opinion I’m 20 years old still living with my parents I found my dream scatpack for 20 grand with 49k miles and a rebuilt title I have 5 grand to put down and I’m scared too make the commitment should I buy it or should I keep saving and just get a rt with the 5.7?
@@LifeatSpeed thank you for the quick response but do you think I shouldn’t just because it will be hard too resell or is there any other reasons? Because personally I feel like it wouldn’t be too hard to get rid of it if I need too
@cyrusfalco3964 first yes it will be harder to sell than you think and second and more importantly having a rebuilt title you'll likely have a number of issues continue to pop up as the likelihood of it being repaired properly is extremely unlikely. I've been involved in this industry almost my entire life and seen some crazy things and as a result I would steer clear of most modern vehicles with rebuilt titles. I understand the desire to jump into it, but the most expensive car you'll ever buy is one that is cheap and has checkered history. It will be a money pit

My '18 Charger with the 6.4L developed ticking noise that wouldn't go away with just over 50K miles. Bought it brand new. Delear replaced all lifters and a cam and I still hear the same ticking noise. Very disappointing, especially after paying so much to "fix" it. Dealer said it makes a normal "ticking noise" that you normally hear from the injectors etc. But I drove 2 '19 scat packs with more miles and none of them had that "normal" ticking noise.
I loved mine unfortunately at 76k it threw a rod threw the block was covered under warranty. But then again I got it used at 28k so who knows how it was mainted for those original miles
I just hit 110k in my 2006 dodge charger RT, don't want to sell it cuz even if it is 16 years old still in pristine condition like new and they are reliable just doing maintenance on time 😎🚘
I only run a catch can on my SRT-4 since it's boosted. I talked to a master tech about it and he said it's not necessary on the hemi. Now up to almost 175k miles on the Charger and still running strong.
I'd like to see the dyno after 6 years to see what it's making crank and wheel now. Love the paint and the front end is still looking great not pitted and chipped. Did you have ppf in it?
The paint on the front is still in great shape, despite no ppf being installed. That's a good idea about the dyno. I might need to do that. I can tell you it feels to pull just as strong now as it did 6 years ago.

Does your SP have adaptive suspension? Another SP reviewer said the ride is stiff unless you have the adaptive suspension, so I'm curious about your experience.
Would love to ask you some questions if you would be so kind as to answer. In the 155,000 miles of ownership what problems have you encountered? I know you’ve heard of the infamous Hemi Tic and there are several theories and I can buy into the validity of all the theories. However, my theory is maybe not running better grades of oil and not keeping it changed when it is supposed to be changed. I ask this because I have a 2018 392 Scatpack Charger that is within 5,000 miles of the warranty running out (55,000) and I am seriously thinking about turning the “Themostat” up considerably. An aggressive cam, intake, throttle body, long tube headers, catless midpipe, a seriously aggressive tune, etc. Most people who modify these engines opt to do away with the MDS when doing a cam swap. I don’t know that I necessarily agree with that. I mean it has worked flawlessly for 55,000 miles so why fix it if it’s not broken? Now if it is a design flaw that is a ticking time bomb I could see preventing that from happening but I’m not convinced that this is the iron clad reason where the Hemi tic comes from because there are manual Challengers that have experience cam/lifter failure and manual transmission cars do not have MDS so theory busted. Your thoughts and problems experienced please. Thank you in advance Steven
Ours hasn't experienced any issues outside of what I laid out in the video. It's been rock solid up to this point (now has 167k miles on it). As far as the "tick" if it is in fact in the lifters, than doing a cam swap should solve that problem if you replace the lifters at that time (I definitely recommend new lifters with a new cam). If the "tick" is in the fuel injectors as some have suggested, depending on how aggressive you go on your upgrades, replacing the injectors with new larger ones should solve that problem as well. Hope this helps and good luck with the upgrades!
The 2022 ones say srt when you shut the car off and say srt powered on the engine doesn’t say r/t on it anywhere whatsoever , even has the new gauge cluster from the srt models but it’s just an r/t very confusing because the srt models minor tweaks

Got a 2017 charger scat and it has 210,000 miles on it mostly highway and it’s never been track driven except for testing how it does on the tail of the dragon and occasional short pulls with other cars that wanna go run for a second but it still runs great never had any maintenance other than oil and brakes changed still never replaced rotors and only replaced brakes once and but it helps having the srt 6 piston brimbos
That's awesome! Not often I come across someone who has put more miles on their Charger than us. Well done!
@@LifeatSpeed thank you the kind words! It just goes to show if you take care of your car it will last. If you don’t try to break the car pushing it before it’s well broken in it’s not gonna last.

Thanks a lot for this! I have a 2018 with almost 50,000. Great to know what to possibly look forward to in the future.
Exactly!
And a certain demographic really likes these cars. Said group is not known for keeping up with maintenance.
Great video! Come to think of it I honestly never heard of a dodge transmission going out because of high mileage.. Dodge build TANKS! 🔥

Wow This Makes Me Happier. Thanks. How is it doing now?
It's doing amazing still! Around 172k miles now on it. Although the "heavy lifting" has switched to our Mopar 22 Durango we picked up in February, so we will be racking up the miles at a slower pace now on the Charger.

Because it's not an R/T. This guy is a dummy. He clearly showed the SRT SCAT PACK then claims it's an RT
Wrong. Sure, my ‘21 has SRT pages, and marked SRT on the Brembo’s. But it’s an R/T, period. R/T on the sticker, paperwork, VIN, and on the grille.
I was scared that I ranked up to 70k miles just last week on my Scatty lol I have faith now
You are my hero. My scat is at 113k and the issues with the fuses was my only problem
How is ur scat doing now any issues?

@@LifeatSpeed My dodge charger has 48k miles and the passenger side door panel is also coming off. I read it's some defect.
I'll have to look into those tires, thanks for the tip.
Being in California, I am amazed that you don't have the windows tinted. We would be lost without them to be sure. We went darker on the most-recent Charger and - the differences are STARK.
It's something we've thought about, just haven't done it.
Overpayed by alot. Could have gotten a lot of Crown Vics for that.
Picking mines up tomorrow just wanted to do research

I really need your opinion I’m 20 years old still living with my parents I found my dream scatpack for 20 grand with 49k miles and a rebuilt title I have 5 grand to put down and I’m scared too make the commitment should I buy it or should I keep saving and just get a rt with the 5.7?
I wouldn't buy it due to the rebuilt title. If you find youself down the road in a pinch and need to sell, you'll find it hard to do.
@@LifeatSpeed damn okay well thank you for the advice I’ll probably just end up saving a little more and getting a older r/t with the 5.7 so I can save myself from a money pit

Any transmission service done? The million dollar question with these sealed transmissions.

When did the scatpack ever come with a 345???
My '18 Charger with the 6.4L developed ticking noise that wouldn't go away with just over 50K miles. Bought it brand new. Delear replaced all lifters and a cam and I still hear the same ticking noise. Very disappointing, especially after paying so much to "fix" it. Dealer said it makes a normal "ticking noise" that you normally hear from the injectors etc. But I drove 2 '19 scat packs with more miles and none of them had that "normal" ticking noise.

@MrJRamos-ei2xv yep got it from a Lincoln dealer and they gave me a pretty nice extended warranty
I just hit 110k in my 2006 dodge charger RT, don't want to sell it cuz even if it is 16 years old still in pristine condition like new and they are reliable just doing maintenance on time 😎🚘
Do you want to sell it?
Super surprised you haven't gotten pulled over for all the "mods" (according to California) that have been done.
Damn i feel great about my 11 with 160k now.
Do you need an oil catch can? I’m thinking about putting one in? I’m scared about voiding the warranty?
@@LifeatSpeed yeah! If you can squeeze it in that would be great 🤞🤞

Ours does not have the adaptive suspension and I would not say the suspension on it is stiff. Yes it's firm, but it's also a high performance sedan.
Wow! I was looking at a 2017 Daytona 392, had 3 owners clean carfax 141k miles for $22k. What do you think?

My 2012 GT I got a couple years ago with 60, now has 180k all about maintenance
Thank you in advance
Steven
Ours hasn't experienced any issues outside of what I laid out in the video. It's been rock solid up to this point (now has 167k miles on it). As far as the "tick" if it is in fact in the lifters, than doing a cam swap should solve that problem if you replace the lifters at that time (I definitely recommend new lifters with a new cam). If the "tick" is in the fuel injectors as some have suggested, depending on how aggressive you go on your upgrades, replacing the injectors with new larger ones should solve that problem as well. Hope this helps and good luck with the upgrades!
Make sure you change your water pump because mine went out on Christmas Eve.
The 2022 ones say srt when you shut the car off and say srt powered on the engine doesn’t say r/t on it anywhere whatsoever , even has the new gauge cluster from the srt models but it’s just an r/t very confusing because the srt models minor tweaks
What oil do you prefer for the 392?
We have all maintenance done at the dealer. I'm sure they use pennzoil synthetic
