I literally just drove these two cars yesterday, SRT 392 charger and an RT Challenger scat pack last night at the dealership, charger definitely has a comfortable drive like a Cadillac. I didn't change any setting but it was way smooth I thought too smooth takes away from the driving and you cant feel the power like you can in the scat pack. Challenger was fun but more of a regular car drive has power up front and the charger had power up top both were fun. But for the price Challenger scat pack. Quenton Millstid I agree with you. I never liked leather. I was going to say it cleans easier but if you use the wrong chemical cleaners it'll fade and crack.
I’m a Ford Guy. But these Mopars look awesome! The 392 to me looks more aggressive then the Hell Cat. Not sure if it’s the wheels or what. But they look amazing. True American muscle cars for sure.
I believe the SRT has a way smoother ride than the Scat Pack...recently purchased one and don't regret it at all...the SRT model has truly made me happy☺️
The SRT is slightly more track ready. The brakes/suspension/tires for $8,000, that's your call on if it's a good value. For daily the Scat Pack brembo's are good enough, and a set of wheels/tires can be had for $2500, and adaptive suspension MEH aftermarket shocks/struts and springs about $2,000 even less if you just go with springs soooooo with the left over cash you can get a nice exhaust but then again just a mid muffler x-pipe swap is like $200 so get the SCAT
The srt 392 is more of a daily than a scat pack. With the srt 392 you get better suspension and wheels and handling options for a more comfortable ride. You don’t get that with the scat pack. So I agree with you, getting the scat pack is a better value since with the added money spent on the handling upgrades to match a srt 392, it would still be cheaper. Better value for money
I put the taser on my scat pack ($250) and now I've got all the SRT instrumentation, track, valet, and Eco modes etc. It's pretty sweet. They should send you one for free to demo. I'm waiting for your tire review too! Keep up the great work.
best thing you can get with a sp. definitely more of a difference in track mode then he makes it seem especially when you step on it. even without the suspension adjustment.
I have the Tazer and i think its crap. Soon as you let off the throttle it bogs the motor down to that cylinder deactivation crap especially in track mode. Maybe i need to update it but its not supporting the new windows operating system. The only thing its good for now is the Line Lock. Also my Tazer always displayed the wrong Temp reading as well.
My Tazer works great. If you are off the throttle why do you need it in 8 cylinder mode? The car shifts a lot harder in track mode and seems louder also. Valet and Eco mode is cool also. Not counting the light show and line lock, Fog lamps on with high beams, No DRL drop out with turn signal, No seat belt chime ETC. Great value for the money IMHO.
I personally think its annoying to hear and feel the car constantly bog down when you dont have your foot on it. I agree with the line lock option thats great but the other cute little so called tricks it can do isn't worth the $250. It should just be sold as a line lock but maybe they have made some updates to the product. Ive had mines for over a year sitting in the closet.
When I was building out my 2015 Charger Scat, I was adding many extras and when all was said and done, it was about 2-3 grand from the SRT. So I went with the SRT. I have no regrets and love my car so much. The Scat was a great value if you did not want all the extras like I did. Now the SRT392 trim has been discontinued so it's a bit moot these days. You can still outfit a Scat up to the levels of the SRT version now too so that's great. Both are fantastic American muscle cars, whichever trim you choose.
Good video and good comparison. The purpose of the Scat Pack was to offer the exact same engine as the SRT at a cheaper price point. There is no point in changing the SRT motor just to give it something that the scat pack doesn't have just for marketing reasons.
RPP I pretty much agree with all points made in this video in regards to the Scat Pack. Also on the Scat Pack for 2017 you can get the dynamics package which adds the 6 piston brembo brakes up front, 9.5's & 275 rubber all around for only $2,200 MRSP additional. When you factor hypothetical maintenance costs of the active suspension in the SRT, why would anyone for 2017 consider an SRT over a Scat Pack. My $.02. Thanks.
Ethan Shrago true, but REAL car people will applaud you because they'll know it's not an impala, it's indeed an SS. My cousin and saw one while we were cruising one day and I told him what it was and what the specs were. I applauded, but he hadn't at first because he too thought it was just an impala
The main reason I went with the SRT instead of the Scat Pack or Daytona is simply because the options that I wanted (Customer Preferred Package 23X, Harmon Kardon system) just weren't available as they were on the SRT.
the stuff people say about the different are hilarious. "srt is way better it grips and handles better and dodge secretly gave it more power and srt so much better because the acronym stands for street Abd racing tech". THE ONLY differences are 4 piston to 6 piston breaks, the suspensions are the same the srt just is electronically adjustable, and one page in the.menus. if yiu want that stuff by all means buy an srt. I didn't need any of that and got a 392 for 8k less.
Lol or you can go to @proto.prints on instagram and pay 20$ for one that looks better haha. No seriously the srt 392 is a rip off, sure it has better resale value. But other than the suspension, u can get dynamics package on the scatpack (6 piston brembos, hellcat rims, 275 tires) and then buy a taser, unlock all srt pages and everything. And u can buy a srt steerting wheel. All for probably less than 1000$ now your scatpack is near identical to srt. You can even upgrade the suspension ig u want to. Srt is not worth it , i paid 32,000$ before tax on my challenger scat used 22k miles its perfect
I'd much rather have the Scat Pack especially with it's $8000 difference in price!!! Plus I like the Scat Pack rims a little better. Yes they both have really sweet rims but like the SP a little better. Don't get me wrong, if $ was not an option, I would rather have the SRT. Well actually if $ wasn't an option, I'd get a Hellcat!!!
I have a 2019 Dodge Charger scatpack in b5 blue. It has hellcat wheels, 305 tires and it has the 6 piston Brembos. However it doesn’t have the suspension upgrade. I like it just fine.
TheMarathon Continues I didn’t say “srt” wheels I said hellcat wheels as in they are look a likes to the hellcat wheels without the srt emblem on them.
I had a scatpack for 7 months and traded into an SRT I get the bang for the buck on scatpacks but I love my SRT and the hp is actually underrated just a bit mine dynos completely stock around 515-520 and my scatpack was around 465-470. Unfortunately they are discontinued but you can get a used one for a reasonable price
Cnthndledatruth so I had a 2018 scatpack and now I have a 2016 srt 392 I have pictures on my instagram of them. I understand the market for scatpacks but a fully supped scat pack still runs high 40’s I used cars.com and got my srt for 38,000 with 18k miles
Cnthndledatruth the srt shifts are harder sound much better it pulls a bit faster and the Beefy steering wheel and laguna leather really made me love the interior so much more then my scatpack. It’s just my opinion
The difference between a SRT and a Scat pack, is I'd rather get a used SRT with like 10k and pay the same as a new Scat pack. Only because the SRT has alot more, especially the Brembos
That is exactly how I got mine. 9k mikes on a MY15 and it was $2k less and better equipped than a new Scat. I actually went to order a scat and Dodge had closed orders for B5 blue, so I had to find something used to get the B5 blue and that was the only color for me. So glad I did, the SRT is just a better car for a DD.
I just seen a 2017 Dodge Charger rt 392 for 39,995 and Dodge Charger srt 392 for 51,145 ... Cant you just buy the cheaper one and just put srt badges on it since they both have the same damn engine
@@spike.strat1318 I cant stand someone that would put a SRT badge on a SXT or a 5.7 R/T Charger for example.... even though I personally wouldn't do it, I dont think putting a SRT badge on a Scat Pack is as bad
Alex, true, i was being facetious. The 392 is an SRT engine so the badging wouldn’t be bad. ( as long as there is no deception come time to sell the car) for example, my rear plate cover says Daytona, and the front says 392 SRT. I also added the heritage R/T badge to the back lid. ( i loved it on my 11’ R/T max, and missed it on my Daytona.)
@@spike.strat1318 I actually have a 392 motor and trans out of a Scat Pack in my 08 Jeep SRT. I debated for a while if I wanted to put 392 badges on it but decided not too. Keep that "sleeper" image lol
RP the 15 scatpacks got the SRT track day only because when they first came out they were VINed a SRT Super Bee I got lucky and got the day for free. I put the Tazer on mine and it was $250 and got the extra menu items and shift light and was able to do some other things like no DRL drop when using the turn signal and line lock.
Imma get the srt used, it’s been a few years now and the prices are pretty decent for one and actually damn near the same as the scat pack. Low mileage as well.
I bought a fully loaded SRT 392 charger. I was in the market for the SP, but like you said, none of the dealerships had SP chargers. Yet, the dealerships had a number of SRT's available (Northern VA and DC area). Unlike what your comments were, the dealerships let me test drive lots of challengers and chargers (not hellcat). One thing I like are the modes you explained. Note: it always starts in default and sport and track settings are not available in default when you start it. Thus, you always have to load the pages to switch to a more aggressive drive mode. It's luxury by default, but insane when I want it be. Track suspension will really beat the hell out you, but that's perfect for the track. Also, I could care less about the 5.7 coming out. We both have a 6.4! That's all that matters! But I did want plum crazy. Almost bought Go Mango until my GF said it looked like a taxi. I ended up with tri-coat red with Xzilon spray. Worth it!
No way would I would be in track mode all the time. But the engine really screams when it's wide open. Shift light RPM settings are customizable for each gear, similar to automatic shift RPM settings in launch mode. Also, the track day that is part of the price ($900 value). It provides professional instructions at a track and let's you drive a hell cat. You also get to ride in a Viper with a professional driver at top speed around the track.
Quarter mile/ roll races- Scat Pack -200lbs lighter -less expensive -same power, transmission, tune, etc Daily driver- SRT 392. -more comfortable ride -better brakes -more options to control/ srt pages I’m not hating on either side, I’m looking at it through a statistical standpoint. The SRT 392 is not better than the Scat Pack for the purpose the car was built for- straight line performance. The Scat Pack is not better than the SRT 392 for the sake of a more comfortable ride.
I have a brand new 2019 scat pack the build day was 6/20/19 and I bought it on 9/5/2019 It had 5 miles on it. I was initially buying a 2018 SRT charger for damn near the same price and it just didn’t make sense you’re right there is no point in spending the extra money it’s the same car.
The Taser works on all 15+ chargers not just scatpack. Enabling the SRT modes will trip your airbag warning light. Also when SRT modes are enabled on NON SRT chargers the Super TrackPack features are limited on what you can do in modifying engine, trans and suspension. However it will help you do some sweet burnouts with the linelock option.
They both are amazing machines! The srt 392 basically is a hellcat spec with the scat pack engine power instead of the supercharged 6.2L. Where as the scat pack is just a lil less than the hellcat spec but with the same engine power as the srt 392. It really is all just to each their own. If you get either one I’m sure you’ll love it!
For some reason, my Scat Pack includes all of the extra stuff that the SRT comes with, mine is a 2018. Only difference I see is the Scat Pack symbol which I love and the cloth seats which I prefer especially in summer.
You can literally say that about any car or anything.. That's why I got a warranty that covers the small stuff up to 120k miles.. And my car is brand new
One of the things I love about track mode.......the adaptive exhaust is wide open. LOVE that. Also, wish you would have done a 60-0 brake test on both cars, just to show the differences in braking - vs just mentioning the sizing of the brakes.
There are 60-0 test online between the two. There's really not much of a difference on the street but the 6 pistons are much better on a track; they won't have as much brake fade.
You guys are commenting on a 3yr old video as the SRT and Scat Pack are totally different cars now. SRT = 5.7L 370hp / Scat Pack = 6.4L 485hp in which they're now only $4k difference in the base models.
The only 2 things I wish I had in the Scat that the 392 only had, is the SRT steering wheel. Other than that, everything else can be modded and not paid for with interest over the term of your car payments
The horsepower is different I have a 392 SRT I raced a scat pack and I dusted him so supposedly the 392 SRT has a little bit more horsepower than the regular scat pack 392
+Maurice Cooper Nope. For a daily driver the SRT is the best option. Comfy like a Benz when you want and great (ok good and fun, it is 4k lbs.) on a track or when it on a spirited drive when you want. The split personality makes it a perfect daily driver.
+gbirk , yes I agree with you , I have a 12 charger R/T road and track pckge, and its comfortable for long trips, last month I bought a 16 camaro SS (2SS, magnetic ride, ) and its by far faster, more nimble , lighter , all the good stuff , but not so comfortable for long trips as the charger , I have the best of both worlds
They are both great cars personally i have had a scat pack and recently purchased a 2018 SRT. The scat pack was the first of its kind Challenger sublime green difference 4piston brembos to the SRT 6 piston brembos Belstein adjustable suspension in the srt. Track mode also the premium leather alcantara seats with heated and cool front and back seats. the charger srt has fatter tires at 275 stock compared to the 245 with optional 295. I do agree with him on the note how they should push the SRT for a market stand point to atleast 530 HP. The 6.4 L is capable of it. I love my SRT its amazing rides smooth and its a great car to each there own. Both cars are great in my opinion.
Thinking about a Dodge Charger scatpack But are they expensive to fix ? I mean I know I will have to spend money but is it like a foreign car over parts priced ?
I'm honestly blown away at the quality of the video. Thank you for all the information. I've been wanting a scar pack but I've always wanted the true raw differences between the two closely resembling cars. GREAT VIDEO!!! will definitely keep watching your channel
I have the Jeep SRT and test drove all the Scat packs and SRTs. The best deal is do what I did. Buy a low mileage Certified Used with the Extended warranty. You will get an SRT for Scat Pack money with a much better warranty. Powertrain extended to 7 years/100K miles and my extended takes it to basically bumper to bumer to 100K miles. All the features you can't get or don't option in a Scat Pack you will miss once you have them. I never thought the adaptive cruise was useful until I had it. Same goes for the blind spot monitoring. I spend time in very hot and cold weather which the heated/vented seats are nice to have as well. Track mode is fun too. In the end buy what you like. Just don't buy just for price. You can usually find the color/options you want used. I wanted a Jeep SRT8 fully loaded, tow package, panoramic roof Black/Black and that's what I bought. Even came with a full Stainless aftermarket exhaust for less than that Scat Pack the guy in the video bought, again with a better warranty.

Looking to buy a Scat Pack Dodge Charger... At this point in the year is it better to wait on the 2017 or try and find a 2016 with the options and color I want? Anyone know what changes in 2017?
I read in a magazine at a news stand that the 2017's were going to basically be the same with an updated and much better UConnect Nav system. Also, the Charger will be available in a 2 door model and also an AWD model.
just get a tazer unlock track mode and srt pages ....shift are much faster and harder keeps active valves open at all time making the car sound even sweeter ....def worth the $249.00 , eco mode and valet mode enables as well, line lock, and much more....why buy an srt and spend more on car insurance, brembo breaks, tires, and suspension, is it worth to spend an extra $10k ??? hell noooo i stick with my Scat Demon ...lol
Riley, would I be correct in this analogy? SRT is a hellcat through and through minus supercharger. Scatpack is SRT minus suspension? Obviously cosmetics would fit in there too. So if I understand the hellcat and SRT have same exact suspension?
The SRT and Scatpacks have identical engines, the 6.4 liter hemi. The Hellcat, besides having the supercharger, has a completely different engine. It's a 6.2 liter and if I'm correct, the cylinder bore is larger than the 6.4 liter and the stroke is shorter. It's totally built to be supercharged.
And just a reality check..if the SRT was sooo much more amazing than the scat..then how come Dodge discontinued them? Maybe cause you can get a scat w/ the “dynamics package” ($2000) and still stay under $45k. shout out to all my SRT 392 owners and their negative equity because KBB only appraised the SRT for $2k more than a scat..after you paid $8k more than a scat @ the dealership lmao

I think the same. 8k difference srt to be good value should have a bit more either power or idk what
The srt 392 is more of a daily than a scat pack. With the srt 392 you get better suspension and wheels and handling options for a more comfortable ride. You don’t get that with the scat pack. So I agree with you, getting the scat pack is a better value since with the added money spent on the handling upgrades to match a srt 392, it would still be cheaper. Better value for money
8gs in upgrades and your scat pack will beast. My Scat has adaptive and drag mode and several Demon features.
what mods or upgrades did you do
How do u feel about the GT
G FIELDS GT is garbage, only 305 hp😭
What about the RT
G FIELDS little brother to the scat pack but it still has a ton of power
Shaft Kimo45 Yea mine does that but only in eco mode witch it suppose to do. Track mode turns it into a beast for me idk whats going on with yours.
Best comment I read bro, I personally appreciate it
And the 275 was most certainly not big enough for the Hellcat lol. Thankful for the Z06 335
the Hellcat made up for that with resale value
+Maurice Cooper exactly
Holy shit I didn't know the vette came with 335s that's insane
Yoooo! My man street speed! you're everywhere. lol!
your mom came with 335's
My $.02. Thanks.
i really really wish a 6 speed was an option, a 4 door manual trans muscle car would be sick
I've been wanting that since forever haha. it's ridiculous
The Chevy SS has a 6-speed option. It's pretty cool to get that in a muscle sedan
+Jon Morrison but it looks like an impala, and yes I know it's a Holden.
SS? Next year rumors are a supercharged next year
Ethan Shrago true, but REAL car people will applaud you because they'll know it's not an impala, it's indeed an SS. My cousin and saw one while we were cruising one day and I told him what it was and what the specs were. I applauded, but he hadn't at first because he too thought it was just an impala
Finally, a simple video to understand the difference. Thank you.
To be honest. The Scat Pack is the best bang for your buck car in the world right now!
Why ?
Hot 40glock because it has the same performance for cheaper, aka best bang for your buck.
They need to drop a demon charger
Go to the drag strip on Sunday take your kids to school on Monday
@@Bravo-06 fuck Sunday😂😂we dropping the kids Monday morning and hitting the strip in the afternoon 🤣
Scat Pack + Supercharger = Win.
Mister -_- McGill your forgetting the forged internals
I Glofreddo No he’s not, just the blown engine 😉
392 with boost makes a grenade
Why not just get a fucking hellcat😭
I was thinking strictly cost at the time, but very valid comments stated above. 😎👍
Couple notes: SRT with no options can come with leather/alcantara combo seats. Also SRT badge on steering wheel.
also HIDs are standard in SRT.
+Mechanic also the paddle shifters are a little larger
Also the beautiful sounding harmon kardon sound system is standard on the SRT.
+Matthew Bahri A lot of SRT owners complain about problems with that system too.
+srt. b5 damn you didn't get a good spec. If you actually got an SRT you should have went with the HK sound system. Why would you miss out on that?
Was never a fan of the chargers, but The new ones are beautiful, i give Dodge props.
anothertry same here, same thing with their 1500 trucks
The main reason I went with the SRT instead of the Scat Pack or Daytona is simply because the options that I wanted (Customer Preferred Package 23X, Harmon Kardon system) just weren't available as they were on the SRT.
So you got an SRT because you aren't a broke Boi? Props to you my friend. The SRT badge looks 50x better than that little bee badge too lmao.
the stuff people say about the different are hilarious.
Oh and tires which both are garbage and get swapped out anyway so.
Blair Gray yea lol scat pack is way better if your gonna get a SRT it should just be the hellcat
Blair Gray Scat Scat Shaker is better :)
EinVried I have an SXT and I'm saving for that exact model. I just love the Shakers. So.... beautiful.... 😭🤧
🍪?
ill pay 8 grand extra just for the srt on the steering wheel lmao
Saying that now kid lol no u wont
@@ByIntros you are financing a 32k loan you own to a bank
Omar Flores no lol i only owe 7,000$ on it
@@ByIntros good drop atleast 20k when getting a car like that or pay 1400 a month
Tazer is $259 shipped. I got one and its awesome.
The comparison to benz is understandable seeing to how the charger was birthed on a benz chassis
People always say this like it is a bad thing. Benz makes great cars.
gbirk yea there is no doubting that
+gbirk People usually say that bc of the weight that brings to the Challenger Specifically. not sure it matters as much with the Charger.
Facts
I have a 2019 Dodge Charger scatpack in b5 blue. It has hellcat wheels, 305 tires and it has the 6 piston Brembos. However it doesn’t have the suspension upgrade. I like it just fine.
Scatpacks don’t come with SRT wheels unless the previous owner put them on. I know because not even the 2020 scats come with them.
TheMarathon Continues I didn’t say “srt” wheels I said hellcat wheels as in they are look a likes to the hellcat wheels without the srt emblem on them.
I think I would go with the SRT if given the choice. The options you get with the computer are worth the extra money to me at least.
ChargeD90 yup and the 6 pistons vs 4 is better too
Agreed
Just go w/ the dynamics package on the scat for 2k more and get the same size tires, suspension, and ECU as the SRT
I'd personally go with the SRT 392 just for the Harmon kardon audio and brakes/suspension.
I had an R/T Challenger 5.7 and always wish I had the SRT. Next time around it will be top tier
So its a 350
I had a scatpack for 7 months and traded into an SRT I get the bang for the buck on scatpacks but I love my SRT and the hp is actually underrated just a bit mine dynos completely stock around 515-520 and my scatpack was around 465-470. Unfortunately they are discontinued but you can get a used one for a reasonable price
Billy Virella what years? I’m looking at a 2016 srt atm
Sweet! I appreciate the feedback thanks.
Took me 4 minutes to realize the owner was sitting in passenger seat XD.
SP392 = great musclecar value
SRTHC = great supercar value
+gbirk Nice, congrats!
i ended up getting an 08 SRT8
Well cost of ownership in the long run will be more on the srt
Yeah scats only get 1 piston brakes from the dart. deff get an srt.
I have a scat pack with 6 piston brembos, 275 tires but no srt on the steering wheel? I’m confused? It’s a 2018
I just seen a 2017 Dodge Charger rt 392 for 39,995 and Dodge Charger srt 392 for 51,145 ... Cant you just buy the cheaper one and just put srt badges on it since they both have the same damn engine
Ayee DonOnTv no, just rep the scat pack, it’s the better car anyways ;)
if you want to be a poser...
I put the Tazer on mine and it was $250 and got the extra menu items and shift light and was able to do some other things like no DRL drop when using the turn signal and line lock.
i ended up getting an 08 SRT8 lol
So a couple years later the SRT 392 is completely obsolete? You can get 6 pot Brembos and 9.5" rims on a Scat now, if you couldn't in 2016.
Pretty much
Imma get the srt used, it’s been a few years now and the prices are pretty decent for one and actually damn near the same as the scat pack. Low mileage as well.
Pro tip: Valets know how to turn off the valet mode.
they come with 2 keys, so they can not. but with anything everything is hackable I hear ya

Quarter mile/ roll races- Scat Pack
-200lbs lighter
-less expensive
-same power, transmission, tune, etc
Daily driver- SRT 392.
-more comfortable ride
-better brakes
-more options to control/ srt pages
I’m not hating on either side, I’m looking at it through a statistical standpoint.
I always wondered the difference 👌🏽 lol I thought they were the same until an 392 owner got mad at me when I said nice scat pack 🤣
3:06 110 miles left of range in about 3 quarters of a tank of an 18.5 gallon fuel tank? Geez!
Mr. dark man yoo thats crazy!!
Is that good or bad, I’m confused
fitness and dieting that’s good , that means it’s making like 35 miles per gallon
6god! Where’d you learn math lmao. It’s 8 mpg
The more videos I watch of the Charger ScatPack, the more I want one.
For some reason, my Scat Pack includes all of the extra stuff that the SRT comes with, mine is a 2018. Only difference I see is the Scat Pack symbol which I love and the cloth seats which I prefer especially in summer.
Same on my 2020sp

I would think long term having the extra electronic bells and whistles of the SRT would mean more things to break or stop working.
You can literally say that about any car or anything.. That's why I got a warranty that covers the small stuff up to 120k miles.. And my car is brand new
@@nightryder16 Bro mopar isn’t gonna sponsor you take their meat out ya mouth. 😭
Somebody should've done this comparison with the Challengers too a long time ago.
The only 2 things I wish I had in the Scat that the 392 only had, is the SRT steering wheel. Other than that, everything else can be modded and not paid for with interest over the term of your car payments
fully loaded Scatpack in Canada costs about the same money as SRT 392. Who would buy that Scatpack then?
The horsepower is different I have a 392 SRT I raced a scat pack and I dusted him so supposedly the 392 SRT has a little bit more horsepower than the regular scat pack 392
12 minutes of RP justifying the ScatPack purchase. ScatPack is a great car.....SRT is just better. I love mine.
I agree. The SP is a good value, but the SRT is hands down the better car. Either one could be my next car.
Yeah you got it right bro ! SRT Exclusivity !
like he said either Scat Pack or Hellcat

I'm honestly blown away at the quality of the video. Thank you for all the information. I've been wanting a scar pack but I've always wanted the true raw differences between the two closely resembling cars. GREAT VIDEO!!! will definitely keep watching your channel
There’s no way in hell your looking for a scat pack especially after typing that your looking for a “scar pack” like mmmmmmk

+jcurtis858 bore is the same, shorter crank
