At least it's not rap. I found that poem interesting. I could get lost in and around it for hours and hours. 20 mins of big butts, letting the dogs out or eminen killing his mother and I'd be bat shit crazy.
Let's take this time to thank Mr. Ballen and everyone else who served in the military to keep us safe. Edit: i feel like i have to say that im not supporting the government that controls the military i support those who fight to protect and come back with disorders.
Can we appreciate how caring Mr BAllen is that he doesn't include the truly horrific things but lets us decide if we want to see them on our own? ❤ Thanks Mr. Allen
As someone who listens to MrBallen videos while driving long distances, I find the Like Button stories incredibly helpful, because they're SO far fetched that I can instantly tell if I've already listened to that video.
I failed out of BUD/s due to hypothermia. I wound up becoming CSaR, instead. In turn, I wound up working alongside SEAL Team 8 during OIF and OEF. My experience has shown me that most Frogmen are like John. Laid back, super chill dudes who love what they do. All I can say is, I'm glad they're on our side!😂
Mr ballan has only been on TH-cam for 9 months and he's already almost at a million subs, at this rate he will hit 1 million by the end of 2020, thats such a big accomplishment. There is other TH-camrs our there trying to do exactly what mr ballan is doing. You make it look so easy bro. Your an amazing story teller, I can tell you do a lot of research on the stories. Its awesome to start my day of with a cup of coffee and a ballan video. Keep up the good work. Much love from your biggest fan.
Me and my girlfriend watched your content from our drive from Savanna, GA to Pittsburgh, PA for 11 hours straight we listened to your content & legit not a single second did we want to watch or listen to anything else. I really appreciate what you do man, don’t stop bro
Kipling really captured the ennui of waiting and marching transforming into pleading rhythmic panic of a young man marching through hell. I enjoyed its honesty. Thanks for your service!
The boots poem is genius because it was meant to mimic the torturing thoughts that would repeat through a soldier’s head as they go mad during weeks long marches, with no end in sight. Kipling captured it well, I assume, since it is used for torture trainings lol
The rhythmic lines of the poem are very effective. That should be pleasurable to the ear even if a tense atmosphere is invoked. I suppose listening to it over, and over would obviously be torturous, though. Honestly, I don't know if that is in insult, or a compliment to Kipling, but if he was trying to achieve a certain effect he succeeded.

@@shanthanramsamy7421 they put you in a very small concrete room, setting on a small concrete slab. then the play that poem along with the sound of babies crying among other things. They deprive you of sleep and such with random trips to be abused. It's really gives you an idea of how bad it could be. But that nothing compared to being a real POW. Above all it gives you a look at who you really are. Good training.
😅 I love that the torture track was Kipling. Growing up my grandfather (Naval pearl harbor veteran) lived with us and he would endlessly quote Kipling. I could recite the entirety of "the young British soilder" by the time I was 8. 😬😳 lol.
When he said Jim Jones my heart just immediately sank. I’m not one to cry at movies, but I watched Very Scary People’s documentary on him, and couldn’t help crying when I thought of all those people who died. The idea of the children who must have been staring up at their parents wondering what was going on, why the adults were upset, drinking what they were given because they trusted the adults and their parents. The idea of those children in their parents arms, crying about how it hurt and they were scared, asking for help…… I just sat in my room and sobbed. Listening to this recording felt the same.
Maybe it can help to know that cyanide at such dosage would kill you quickly and you wouldn't really feel much pain. That's exactly why it's used as a suicide pill or in assassinations so often. It's very effective at killing you. You could drink this and pretty much die instantly or in the matter of a few seconds. Clearly, the kool-aid solution wasn't a simple afterthought or improvised idea, it was premeditated, basically "if X happens then I will make everyone kill themselves with this" and it's also very clear to me that this guy wasn't a sadist who wanted to inflict pain on his followers but rather a totally deranged individual who believed he was freeing them from a very bleak future so it was never the point for them to die a painful death. Why he didn't drink this himself but rather shot himself asks questions but my theory is he saw this as his failure to protect his community and as such, he didn't deserve to go wherever they were going so he killed himself and in his mind this was a way to make sure he wouldn't go to heaven or whatever he believed in. It was his punishment.
i feel like Mrballen's facial expressions are underrated. when he's talking about something positive, his face kinda lights up and he smiles a bit, but when it's something serious, he steels his expression and it's a bit more somber. honestly every part about his videos exudes great storytelling capabilities.
I have a lot of anxiety which has been escalating recently, and yet I STILL watch mrballen almost every single day, you're just so great at telling stories and they're all so interesting! Just the Boots poem had me literally twitching from anxiety lol I had to look away from the screen because I couldn't listen to it AND look at that face at the same time, I was having a physiological reaction. Definitely the freakiest one of the 3 recordings, although the worst and saddest one was certainly the Jonestown audio
I also had to look away, both from that face and the one playing over the audio recording of the girl clearly speaking hoarsely to herself in her sleep. My anxiety is high, but my cynicism Kung fu is strong lol
Good to know. After hearing "Boots" I nearly closed the window thinking, yeah I'm not a Navy Seal and if they only get more unnerving then fuhgedaboudit...
My Son did the “SERE’s training for the airforce, he is a Chinese Linguistic with very high-security clearance. Went from discovering your channel several weeks ago, to having rapidly consumed all your available content, to now just excitedly anticipating the near daily uploads. There are lots of gimmicky, dramatic storytelling channels out there, but you are a breed of your own. Cool, collected delivery of interesting stories that you have clearly put tons of time into researching. There is a formula for success for this type of content, and it's like your TH-cam Crabby Patty, my friend. Thanks for your service, and keep being awesome.
Same! I was with a Marine for 7 years, his twin brother was also a Marine, my grandpa was a Marine, one of my best friends is an active duty Marine, and I have a lot of other military friends. I love that this channel combines two of my favorite things -- the paranormal -- and the badassery of him being a Navy Seal. 💪🇺🇸 Thanks for your service John.
I have to say, being the wife of a Navy Chief, that little chuckle as he is telling the story and remembering is such a trademark of those kinds of stories from Sailors. Especially if they are telling about special training they have been through
I heard that the SAS had a torture training of hearing the sounds of cruely beating and the bloodcurdling screams of a baby... Heard it a long time ago.... Don't remember where from
I remember Jocko read this poem in one of his early podcasts. The intensity in his voice was palpable. I thought it was just Jocko doing his thing, but knowing this takes it to another level.
Holy crap that face!! It instantly sent a chill up my spine, gave me a bad feeling in my gut and made my eyes water all at the same time. I was not expecting that physiological response.
Yes!! I wasn't expecting my response either. I had to turn my phone away while the video played until it moved on. Not much bothers me, but sometimes certain photos just get me, and that's one of them.
Try listening to it for 12 hours straight have a sack over your head and hands tied behind your back in a dark room while sitting on a chair Then it might get a lil scary
The BOOTS poem is disturbing to me even after listening to it once. Now being trapped, blindfolded and jammed with this audio for hours and hours sounds like a shortcut to madness.
I honestly don't get how it's torture? It's literally easier to listen to than the songs on the radio these days. I found a 2 hour version of it and lasted the whole thing with no problem

I like when he giggles thought the funny prank on the "Like Button"..😂 one video he tried like 3 takes before he got through saying it..was sooo funny!
That Rudyard Kipling “Boots” recording is horrific... listening once was enough. But imagine the things he’d seen in that war to write it and record it that way. 😳
@@tylerc1980 It's not too bad listening to it once but the point is that they play it over and over and over again. Here's a 2 hour loop of it (though I'll bet the Navy guys probably spend much longer listening to it than 2 hrs). Listen to the whole thing and let me know if it still doesn't bother. th-cam.com/video/Glcg95L4JK4/w-d-xo.html
I listened to the boots poem for 3 hours and it drove me insane. I fully blacked out a room and played it over and over again to the point I can say it word for word
I found this guy's channel recently in my recommended videos. I haven't seen him before but I absolutely love his channel. I have been binge-watching his videos since I've discovered them.
@@birdman5197 The point is that he lets people know that he's about to play something that could potentially be triggering instead of just playing it without warning. I was able to fast forward without hearing any of it. Since I'm Black and hadn't realized until recently that most of the people that died there were Black, just hearing him talk about it was distressing. The description of what was coming and the warning was very much appreciated. There's lots of other YT content creators that would've just let it play right away without saying "Hey this is hard to listen to. Don't listen if it will bug you."
The Jonestown story really deserves its own video. That whole thing is really horrifying and sad and there’s sooooooooo much information to be unpacked with that story.
You can find the entire death tape recording somewhere on TH-cam. I believe it’s about 3 hours long and it was heartbreaking. Listening to him convincing people to kill themselves and others.. and them dying. Tragic.
The poem from the navy sounds like that god awful song “they’re coming to take me away haha” which after listening to while completely 🍃🍃 out my box, scars me to this day. Not the same thing but understandable.
Oh? I love that song. That poem? Maybe hardly different from going to work every day. I think there's a reason the backgrooms concept came into existance, endless monotony in an office setting till you want to gouge your own eyes out and cut off your own fingers.
OMG thanks for the funny memory you triggered -- my sister and my daddy would sing that song in the car whenever it came on and I still know it by heart! I can still hear the very opening of it, where we'd hear it and exchange grins in the car before singing along. So thanks, we lost Daddy last July and I've been missing him a lot lately, so this put a big smile on my face.
Yes! That’s exactly what I started singing! Napoleon XIV’s a friend of Dr. Demento wrote that song in 1966. Radio stations across the country banned the record after receiving complaints from doctors and institutions claiming that the song “hurt 17:18 their image.” After five weeks, the song dropped from the charts. I used to sing that song in high school in the 80’s after hearing it on Dr. Demento’s late night AM radio station program.
lmao, I remember my mum singing this to us as kids 🤣Probably because me and my siblings were being a nightmare. It's just dawned on me now how hilarious that realisation is. It also kind of reminds me of the Sander Coen poem "The Wild Bunny" from Bioshock, shout-out to anyone who knows the reference 😉
Gotta love the way he tells it like he's just relaying to a friend some crazy story he heard. Except without the vagueness and game of telephone with the details. 👌 Half of these stories I've heard before but I listen anyway because he's so endearing.
I’m so glad I found this channel. It’s the only scary story channel I can actually pay attention to, be entertained by, and enjoy! Keep ‘em coming MrBallen!
Im surprised this one is all the way at he bottom of the popular tab. Ive binged every video at work for the past few weeks and this one gave me literal chills.
So I was watching this video and was sick with a fever. I had fallen asleep just before the official torture song of the navy seals came on. It was a very unpleasant thing to wake up to.
I can’t listen to him to fall asleep not because it is scary but because EVERY SINGLE VIDEO IS SO INTERESTING! It’s uncanny I have never come across a TH-cam channel like his where every video and every story in the video is interesting. Every.single. One. He is a brilliant story teller.
Lmao 🤣 I watch his videos all day and than fall asleep watching them at night wake up and continue watching it I wake up and am like how many videos did I miss
He took a grenade blast close quarters, his team of fellow badasses got him home safe, he's truly one of the toughest men on earth. Same for all American special forces and a few others.
Everyday for work ,driving to and from all my stores I listen to Mr. Ballen ! Been addicted for a whole year now. Ive Got so many people listening to him now. Please never stop telling us your stories
@therese_flores same man, i literally got spooked so hard that i minimised the window and covered it with my hand. i’m watching this at night with the phone like about 20 centimetres away
While I was in bootcamp for the Navy, the division got in trouble for something so our RDC played the “Boots” poem over a speaker in the middle of the compartment for about an hour before you taps that night. After 5 minutes of listening to it, it really gets to your head and terrifies you. I remember after he turned it off so we could sleep that night I couldn’t get it out of my head. It just played over and over in my head.
Just asking because I’ve never walked in your shoes however I have been with sick and disgruntled toddlers and infants who have cried, tantrumed and had serious meltdowns for hours. I have had to use prayer, meditation, and thought control to get through these situations. Wouldn’t this be part of the Navy seal training - Taking control of your thoughts and having your mind think of something else? Just asking in kindness and curiosity. Thanks.
I remember the story of Jim Jones and Jones Town well as I was nine years old when it happened. I remember feeling upset as to why anyone would want to kill themselves and it actually set me out to seek the more macabre stories I could find at my local library. I guess I wanted to understand how an idea, and a charismatic man, could go from being wonderful to horrific. I still don't understand it either, and for this, I'm grateful. Additionally, your retelling is eerily reminiscent of what I see now in our society, but on a much grander scale, and I hope others notice this, too.
MrBallen. You'll get this reference, I'm sure.. I was in HC-9, a helicopter combat squadron out of San Diego 82-86. Mini-Vulcans out the doors, the whole nine yards. Used to give you guys rides out to the bay for your swims and Cat Island to get stabbed by sea urchins. Transferred before SERE school and now as an old dude I'm perfectly happy having missed that particular check in the block lol. Keep up the good work man. People, myself included, dig your story telling style and the content as well. Hope you continue on this path. Seems you truly enjoy it and you express that sentiment clearly. Bet you were a hell of guy to hang with out on watch...
@@hillrebecca3447 What I said was I bet you were a hell of a guy to hang out with on watch. Basically, watch is any type of sentry duty, etc. that's in addition to your normal duties. Never met the man but he sounds like he would have been a shit load of fun. Know my share of SEAL/EOD dudes and from my experience they mind their own counsel. But once you get past the years of training and war face stuff... they're just like anyone else. Ramped up like 10 times lol.

The Boots poem/song by Rudyard Kipling is anxiety inducing to listen to just ONCE! 😮😮😮 I can't imagine hearing it over and over incessantly for who knows how long! I give these Navy Seals and Mr. Ballen mad props.
The smile while describing the trials of becoming a Navy Seal is so mixed, proud, pain, fellowship, brothers and sisters(?) Standing side by side looking out for each other to help the world is really interesting. When hopefully your bouncing grandkids around the tree forts & telling them the worth of steady on , complete your duty I'll be thinking of you. Love 🇨🇦
I’m Guyanese, and Jonestown is now a place of extreme terror and extremely eerie. Some people escaped of course, but it was a terrifying ordeal. Thank you Mr ballen for telling the story of Jonestown, it’s officially dubbed the doomsday of Guyana. There is also a movie called Jonestown.. it would tell an even more in-depth story of how horrific it all was. And for those who have not yet heard of Guyana, pronounced (guy- anna) is a country on South America’s North Atlantic coast, and is also known as the land of the giants and the bread basket of the Caribbean. It is very small and is made up of an ethnically diverse population. Or famously, where the golden city of Eldorado resides.
It was never a city. Spanish explorers landed in South America and started hearing tales of a gold dusted tribal King dumping vast quantities of gold and precious gems into Lake Guatavida. So the Spanish Commander ordered the lake drained, and finding nothing other than some worthless trinkets had all of the people killed and El Dorado came to represent men's feudal quest for immeasurable wealth.
I just wanted to thank you for your fantastic podcasts and TH-cam videos. You help me get through a hard time. I know, from reading about you, that you have had your own difficulties, and I'd like to let you know how much I appreciate that too.
Taylor Holmes in 1915: "Wow this recording technology is mighty cool. I get to recite my favorite poem, I wonder what people in a hundred years will think of this" Navy Seals in 2015: "This would be good to torture someone with"
Well, I mean it’s not supposed to be a pleasant poem. It’s imagining someone going crazy as they’re forced to march hundreds of miles with the prospect of fighting and dying at the end of it.
I have to cover it or look away, always...and even pre-emptively look lower than right at the screen, just in case a "surprise" image comes up.... if I don't, that image visits my mind at night.
I love how much dignity you bring to your viewers and the victims. Instead of thrusting upon Us Jim Jone’s sickness you give your viewers the choice to listen if they want to. #classy
I’m a chronic sleep talker and have recorded myself saying the craziest stuff in unrecognisable voices. My partner can attest to us being the only people in the room but you would swear I was talking to someone else and another person was replying
Oh my goodness me too! I use a sleep app that can record if I set it to. I’ve had full on convos with myself, in my sleep, different voices, and never remember a thing. Hearing it the next day is terrifying sometimes.
I agree 100% that voice was CLEARLY HER! Lol.. never just believe the "internet" experts.. that didn't even sound like a mam to me.. in my opinion, it just sounded like her only without the surprised expression in her voice.. there are MANY people that "sleep talk" or do weird stuff in their sleep and never know.. . it can happen out of no where and only go on for short amounts of time..or for years, especially during times of like extremely stressful times in your life or whatever.. I personally had it happen when I was applying for a job. I am a primatologist, and the job I was writing for or applying for was super competitive and was for a 6 month job in Cambodia for a television show..during that time I was talking in my sleep amd was getting out of bed and just doing random stuff and I never would have known if it wasn't for my ring door bell catching me going outside on night to sit on my porch lol after that I out a motion sensor camera in my bedroom to see what I was doing and i didnt actually get up THAT often, but i WAS talking. And i was having whole 2 soded conversations with myself, and even used a different VOICE when I was responding to myself.. it was SO WEIRD! I sure thought I was going crazy or something, lol. But once the whole work stuff settled down, that all stopped and hadn't done it since.. my opinion is that was her.

Ok this is absolutely true! So me n my partner listen to sleep meditations or binaural beats , every night. Well a few years ago he picked one when he went to bed and I stayed up for a few hours after. So I got to bed, I do my nightly meditation and prayers and the chants are peaceful.... Then out of nowhere this feel ass demonic voice starts like speaking in tongues, but like whisper yelling it and I started tearing up and felt TERRIFIED!!!! moral of the story: make sure u really look into not only the person doing the meditation (read comments and such) but also go through it as well towards the middle part and make sure no little demon man starts spurting out curses to try some mind control/programming on u while you're peacefully sleeping!!!!

People don’t find the poem that bad in your video. But they also don’t realize that by the time you hear it in a SERE school, you are already exhausted, starving, and way overstressed. It doesn’t take much to push you over the edge with your nerves already shot.
im going through a particularly stressful patch of dental school to the point where my nerves are frayed, im mentally/physically exhausted and my back muscles are stiff from anxiety and overexertion, and listening to the poem made my whole body uncomfortable. it is not for the anxious or stressed.
Considering that I am a child and have obviously never been a Navy Seal I still got massive anxiety when I closed my eyes while the first audio played to try and understand what it felt like.
When I’m falling asleep I sometimes have full conversations with people that aren’t there. I sort of imagine the other person being there and what they would say back. That’s what that 2nd story reminds me of. It didn’t sound like a man replying to her. It sounded like herself in a deeper tone.
I bet there was a person who was living in the house, maybe the attic or basement. Somewhere she didn't search or a previous owner/renter who had a key. Or possibly the landlord etc
@macwinter7101 honestly, I'm calling BS on that, it wasn't all that different to her actual voice. Even before he played it, I was skeptical of that, as there are things like the Emily Rose "possession" voice recordings that came from her, and that's a much more drastic change.
There was a handful of Jonestown survivors, I highly encourage watching the full documentary it’s absolutely horrifying what these people went through😭
There's also a two part episode of "Very Scary People" aired periodically on Headline News (Cable TV) or maybe you can find their streaming service... I don't know... BUT it's also worth a look. Each episode is an hour, so a fairly solid 2 hours of research, experts, interviews with the survivors, and specifically some in depth Q&A with his son, Stephan... ;o)
One old woman survived by hiding under a bed, and I've heard that several more survived by running. Jim Jones had two sons that he'd sent away that day so that they'd survive while he encouraged the suicide and murder of 900 people. What a horrific thing.
I remember when hearing the same story before, that there was a fairly pertinent point that was only very briefly alluded to here. I believe in her original post, she divulged that she slept with a toddler, or very young child, in her bed with her. Knowing that, it becomes more than obvious that the "click" you can hear is actually more of a skin-on-skin "slap" or clapping sound. It would then be perfectly rational to assume that the sound you hear is likely her child playfully "slapping" on her in order to get her attention. The voice(s) you hear are simply her sleep-mumbling whilst in a deeper state, exacerbated by her recent sleep deprivation. Any "expert" that would ever suggest something as categorically definite as to say that the sounds heard were impossible for her or her child to make, is either a terrible expert, or more likely, doesn't exist. Sure, that's not as thrilling as saying it was ghosts or whatever, but honestly, which one is more likely to be reality?
I'm in infantry school for the Marine Corps and it's like midnight and my Sgt is blaring this over his speaker to drive is crazy. People are going nuts but it's hilarious and he is having a blast.
Yah im Australian army and we have a training exercise in school of infantry where we just dig and dig and not sleep for about 5-6 days and they would play it through the night while we digged
I feel sorry for Mrs Ballen, it doesn't matter how much she nags him it won't get to him cause he's trained not to let stress or torture get to him. 😂❤
Not really Rae, I’m sure she just plays that terrible navy training/torture song over and over while he and the like button hold their ears and contemplate drinking the cool-aid 😝👀
The torture song sounds like an incredibly old recording, of something from the 30s or 40s, perhaps on an ancient record player. The man is speaking in the now-defunct Transatlantic accent (u hear it in the way Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn spoke, Bing Crosby, even tho his wasn't as strong, is also an example). I wonder if there's any information on it anywhere?
I looked it up cause I was curious about the actual lyrics for the song. This recording is actually from 1915 (so you were right about it being very older, it's just, a bit older than your guess) and is the earliest recording of this poem. You can actually listen to it(the part played here is actually right at the very end of the poem) here- th-cam.com/video/rx8nVKeA1JA/w-d-xo.html A fun fact about the man who's reciting the poem in the recording, Taylor Holmes, he would later go one to voice King Stephan in Disney's animated Sleeping Beauty. I have no idea about his accent, though he was from New Jersey so.
Rudyard Kipling was born of English parents in India in 1865. He was a journalist, poet, short story writer and novelist. He wrote The Jungle Book. The transatlantic accent was adopted by Americans who wanted to sound more English at a time when that was deemed desirable. We had the same kind of thing in Australia when I was growing up in the 60’s. All our newsreaders sounded like they were from the BBC. It’s known here as the “Cultural cringe”, when being Australian was felt to be “lesser” than being English. But then the 70’s came along and put an end to all that bs.
That guy is a famous poet and writer. I studied in India and there were a lot of his stories and poems taught in our school books. He was very popular.
My son is in the Navy and went through SEAR training. I remember the first week was classroom stuff, the next week was outdoor training. Like, how to start a fire or kill an animal to eat etc. The night he got captured I felt it! I knew that was the day. All in all he lost 19 lbs that week because they don’t eat. It was horrible for me and him! As they say, the best training you never want to go through again! But he survived and is better for it! He just completed SWTI training and says that was the even tougher! Y’all our military is badass! Thank you sir for your service! 🇺🇸
Whoever’s singing the torture song sounds progressively more and more agitated as he keeps singing which gives off an unsettling feeling of total insanity.
It’s actually a poem. It is about British troops that were forced to march across Africa with no known destination. Some of the troops went mad watching the boots moving up and down again.
I’m not saying the Seals isn’t bada$$, but my guess is that you’ve never heard of Delta Force. And there is a reason why you never here of their missions.

:|| Here i was enjoying the poem like an absolute banger. Totally wasnt paying attention to the words. 😬

Aw I’m sorry it’s gonna be ok, at least we can think about how much happier they are in heaven ♥️ 😞 👼
Yeah I'm sure it must've felt amazing for the adults.
You should see the aerial views.

Yes! That’s exactly what I started singing! Napoleon XIV’s a friend of Dr. Demento wrote that song in 1966. Im rewatching every single mrballen video for a 3rd time. Cannot get enough
Could you imagine this dude back in the day. Would have been cool to see first hand.
What do you mean he was a hell of guy to hang out with
@@hillrebecca3447 What I said was I bet you were a hell of a guy to hang out with on watch.

They could of kept that mess in North American where it started. And thank you for that informative I learned a couple of things so thanks.

I’m a chronic sleep talker and have recorded myself saying the craziest stuff in unrecognisable voices. My partner can attest to us being the only people in the room but you would swear I was talking to someone else and another person was replying
that's scary! I would never record myself sleeping then
Oh my goodness me too! I use a sleep app that can record if I set it to. I’ve had full on convos with myself, in my sleep, different voices, and never remember a thing. Hearing it the next day is terrifying sometimes.
Yeah that voice is obviously her. Internet "expert" saying it was impossible. Lmao.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who said those voices sounded like the same exact person. One just seems slightly deeper and more monotone

Right. . hearing something sends a totally different chill through your body.

That is so disturbing 😳

People don’t find the poem that bad in your video. But they also don’t realize that by the time you hear it in a SERE school, you are already exhausted, starving, and way overstressed. It doesn’t take much to push you over the edge with your nerves already shot.
It doesn't seem bad until it's on indefinite repeat.
True. Sitting on a comfy couch with a bag of chips makes it bearable.
When you hear it you are tied up, blindfolded, soaking wet and in claustrophobic conditions as well
im going through a particularly stressful patch of dental school to the point where my nerves are frayed, im mentally/physically exhausted and my back muscles are stiff from anxiety and overexertion, and listening to the poem made my whole body uncomfortable. it is not for the anxious or stressed.
It fucks with your brain a little. The repetitiveness of some words, quickly going into a scream. I don’t know.
My brother, although not a SEAL, he was a Navy pilot, had to go thru this training in case he was ever shot down and taken prisoner.
Thank your brother for his service God Bless Y’all
Considering that I am a child and have obviously never been a Navy Seal I still got massive anxiety when I closed my eyes while the first audio played to try and understand what it felt like.
When I’m falling asleep I sometimes have full conversations with people that aren’t there. I sort of imagine the other person being there and what they would say back. That’s what that 2nd story reminds me of. It didn’t sound like a man replying to her. It sounded like herself in a deeper tone.
I agree
If a speech expert said it was impossible that she made that voice, that's something to consider.
I bet there was a person who was living in the house, maybe the attic or basement. Somewhere she didn't search or a previous owner/renter who had a key. Or possibly the landlord etc
It sounds exactly like her voice to me, just slightly deeper tone which everyone can do
@macwinter7101 honestly, I'm calling BS on that, it wasn't all that different to her actual voice.
Yeah my aunt on my dads side got caught in that mess.
What these people went trough? They did it themselves you fool.

I don't see why in the second story, she didn't put a security camera up, or pretend to be asleep but really pull an all nighter.
Always wonder about Reddit stories. The voice also sounds like a young teenage boy. Probably her son
I dont see how anyone thought that was strange..it is absolutely the woman speaking the whole time.

You can actually listen to it(the part played here is actually right at the very end of the poem) here- th-cam.com/video/rx8nVKeA1JA/w-d-xo.html
A fun fact about the man who's reciting the poem in the recording, Taylor Holmes, he would later go one to voice King Stephan in Disney's animated Sleeping Beauty.
Seriously, what was WITH that silly accent they used to make people on TV or movies have? It was sooooo ridiculous.
30s or 40s lol.
Reminds me of the boat scene in the OG Willy Wonka. "There is no earthly way of knowing...."
@carlos sandoval It isn't the sound, it's putting yourself into their shoes and thinking about listening to it on repeat for a very, very long time.
