    You have put the chain backwards, the grease holes go towards the outside and you put them towards the inside.

      I agree, this chain will stretch very quickly with the oil holes facing down

      The febi replacement chains have the oil holes like the OEM chain however the INA chains do not have the holes

      It's correct, holes in chain outside for lubricant. Specific in WIS If not 🚫

      Depends on mileage and wear.
      In 90% cases no need to do it.

    Thanks for the Video, I noticed you didn’t use the tools that hold the camshafts in place so they can rotate. Would you say these aren’t necessary?

    Hello, how are you? One question, do you have to remove the chain tensioner with this tool or not?, I mean if the chain is secured by this tool.From your explanation I understood that the chain tensioner needs to be replaced. My question only concerns when you put in the new chain, whether or not you remove the chain tensioner while replacing the chain, thanks

    • @sprintermotors

      Sure! If any of your main bearings are toasted or any damage present on cylinder walls - your engine will be done. If there are no damage on those spots - it is rebuildable.

    Did you replace any seals for the injectors? Do you have to bleed the injectors?
    Thanks great video

    • @Agecatcher
      @Agecatcher 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you dont have to bleed the injectors, its common rail, so you can prime the igniton, to get fuel going, and then start after turning the key 10-15 times

    Why did you remove all of the cam hold downs? In this configuration I would think the cams would be lifted by the opposing force of the valve springs.

    • @sprintermotors
      @sprintermotors  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cam holders are not necessary to do the timing chain.

    How are you able to rotate cam without valve coming into contact with piston? Great video, om642's are best small v6 diesels. 290000 miles and 9' of TDC. 11' is max.

    • @sprintermotors
      @sprintermotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not do anything to the timing itself. We just disconnected old chain, connected new one and rolled it through.

  • @mihaisorin9705

    the old chain does not look that bad, can i just change only the tensioner?

    • @sprintermotors
      @sprintermotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to replace chain. Because problem is in the chain not in the tensioner.

    Hello Friend. I have a ml 320 cdi 2007 year. Sometimes in the morning when I start the car for the first time, it makes a noise for exactly 1 second. Something rattles and stops after a second. My car has a mileage of 280,000 km. I don't know if this timing chain has ever been changed or not. I know that the air conditioner compressor bearing or magnets are damaged and this is also making noise. This noise can be heard from the compressor of the air conditioner. I hope the timing chain doesn't need to be replaced.

    Not too sure about beating on the cam sprocket with hammers, fairly sure that's NOT in the mercedes shop manual! You can just vice those pins, seems to me you did more harm than good here.

    Mercedes-Benz is such a unreliable garbage car.W 203 was disaster. Ten the first version of w204 was a bit better and then mercedes screwed up with totality bad om651 engine.Injectors and timing chain and tensioners malfunctions. Om 651 have only 1 chain its simplex and previous one was duplex.I though nothing can be so bad as bmw n47 engine but i was so wrong Mercedes-Benz is one of the most unreliable vehicles Also when you changing that tensioners on mercedes you have to take engine out same as on n47 bmw.I will never buy any mercedes again.I will buy only Japanese products ( And yes,i do own W204) at the moment.
