Well I really appreciate you being honest and showing the mistakes and how to fix them. We've all been there and everybody appreciates your honesty and enjoys your ties. As soon as I saw this I thought ... that's the All American streamer. So I definitely will be tying this with the red throat for the red, white, and blue... LOL. Have a great evening and thanks again
"COP CAR Fly". Black and white for the car. Red and flash for the lights. Blue for the uniform. - Love your videos Matt. I don't walk the rivers anymore like when I was younger, but I can sit in a boat all day long on a lake here in BC, Canada.
"Artic Azure" seems fitting for the winter month streamer with blue accent. Love the video, keep the organic nature of fixing the problems in these videos. It is real tying!
Good morning Matt. ☕️time watching sunrise on the desert and a fly tying video. I’m thinking the Savage Bruiser. It’s black and blue, a little beat up looking and will be spending time in the Savage River. Looks to be a windy day in the Colorado River valley. Take care.
Good Morning Sir Matt, that was fun, I like “ The Blue Assassin “ buy the way great recovery on the wool and the throat to me doesn’t look bad at all. It’s weird but all the waters that I fish. I’ve always had the best of luck with something that had a little red in it. Have a wonderful rest of your week and tight lines, my friend.
Hi Matt. I think I've mentioned at least once in the past that I love tying and fishing streamers and bucktails. This really reminds me of an old school bucktail I tie. I would call it an autumn smelt if it was mine.
Another nice fly from an old book I have a copy of. Maybe I'd call it just a black and blue searcher and go searching for trout with it. Have a great day Matt!
Makes a good streamer! Like the squirrel overlay so I think I’ll call it the roadkill minnow. BTW with Veterans Day this week thanks to all who served our great nation! We are the land of the free because of the brave!!
Matt, thank you for being so down to earth. Awesome easy to follow tie! When you said squirrel, I thought of Hammy from the movie Over the Hedge, I’d name it Blue Winged Hammy Streamer!
Looks like a Squirrelly Brooks' Trout Buster fly. Matt I have a 40 year old Blue over Silver Rapala in my tackle box that has inspired several blue over white (yellow natural) hair flies, in warm water they have produced nicely for both bass and large crappie. great looking pattern.
I'd call it the (Blue) Icicle Streamer because you could certainly use other shades of bucktail, such as light purple, different shades of blue, or even greens! Thanks for the video; and I'm appreciative of mistakes, it's always good to be remined that we all make them!
Good looking streamer Matt! I also appreciate you leaving in the mistakes and just rolling with it. The colors look like formal attire. Maybe call it The Dapper Squirrel?
When I was a kid, a friend and I came up with a very simple streamer - gold tinsel body, long translucent white calf tail wing, black head. We called in the Boogie-eyed Booger Buster (of course). It caught bass, while our yellow woolly worms caught sunfish. Whenever I think about naming a fly, I always think, "well, Boogie-eyed Bugger Buster is taken"
Let's go with the Rainbow Smelt fly. Looks like a winner for walleye, bass, trout, and landlocked salmon. Heck, maybe even steelhead and salmon in general. Could be tied on a salmon fly hook.
Given the black and blue colors, how about "The Bruiser"? Great vid and thanks for leaving your mistakes in the final edit. I'm an infrequent tier but working on doing it more often. It's good to know that even the pros mess up sometimes.
G’morning Matt, nice creation for today to which I have a few suggestions. How about naming this one: Bruised Ego, Black-N-Blue or the Cold Shoulder. Hopefully one of these will help.
Matt’s Blue Oatman. Maybe a good name for a cereal at least. ;-) There are some pretty good name options being posted. Oh, another suggestion with MD roots: Blue Savage streamer.
I like both these Bob! I'm just now going through the list with my kids. I've already got one with "Savage" in the top five. But the Blue Oatman... a tribute to one of the legends. I do kind of like that!
Good morning, Matt! That is a great looking classic style streamer. And it is a simple pattern. A great name would be 'Catskill Black & Blue'.
