These cars are so beautiful and they nailed it on the interior. I feel like they really missed the mark on the powertrain - the car could be so much more with a few tweaks there. The car is so much slower than it should be for 400hp and 3200 lbs. It does 100-200 kmh in the same time that the manual cayman GTS goes 0-200 kmh, and that car has 394 hp with the same weight (~13 seconds for both). It’s not all about straight line speed, but the cars are in totally different leagues when it comes to performance. It just doesn’t perform like 400 hp should. Then you have a clunky gearbox that’s reluctant to shift quickly. And a low redline that cuts power right when the engine feels its best. I feel like elements of the design process were rushed and hold back what could be an iconic farewell tour from an amazing British carmaker.
Engine redline higher would largely solve the issue of the redline feeling too low. I might tune mine to 7200rpm but there’s the concern of warranty and it should come from factory like that. The transmission has poor QC. Some are good, others not so much. Cayman far from perfect too - way too long of gearing for example, but man that engine is more special. I wish I could take cayman engine and sub that in the emira
Hai perfettamente ragione. Le prestazioni del V6 sono imbarazzanti, quando l'ho provato mi sembrava di essere sopra la mia s2000. Il discorso cambia se si parla del i4 AMG.
Don`t know what cars you are driving, but the one I`m driving more that comfortably pull away from my other car(Cayman GTS). I`ve hear so much bullshit in these comments section about the Emira. And it`s always from non owners who claim to have driven one(cough..BS). The 0 to 200 claim about the Cayman was the best one yet. My Cayman would never get even close to catching my Emira if the race started when I was doing 100kph.
@@davidsparavec8996 that’s just not true, unless you have a 981 Cayman GTS, which has much less power than the 718 4.0. The two cars aren’t close. Go look at how fast each car is in any of the instrumented magazine tests. Look at 0-130 mph, for example. Cayman GTS does it in 14.7 seconds and the Emira takes 18.3. By 150 mph, the difference grows to 7 seconds (21.2 vs 28.3 seconds). That’s a massive difference in terms of straight line performance. For a point of reference, a Cayman T with the base 2.0 liter motor does 0-150 in 28.0 seconds (slightly faster than an Emira V6).
You can actually adjust front camber and caster quite a bit. Most shops don't know it, but the lower front arm has two adjustment points both the front and the back of the joints can be adjusted. The rear one is kinda hidden, you will have to look at the service manual to see exactly how to adjust that. There is a forum thread out there where someone posted a screenshot the service manual showing how to adjust the lower constrol arm.
This was the thread I was following that mentioned limitations: www.emiraforum.com/threads/limited-alignment-adjustments.4565/ Do you have a link to the thread you're referring to?
Its true. The ND drives and feels like an NA. I just received my ND3 and my first time behind the wheel of an ND. The power difference doesn't feel dramatic powerful they still have the exact same playful character. Idunno if i should be disappointed or not only because the NA is so so much more affordable but if you got the means and budget for a ND then more power to you lol i havent soak everything in just yet just on day 1 with the ND3 😅
When I drove the emira I was moderately impressed but I also test drove a gt4 a few days later, this left me with the feeling that the 107k price point was a bit steep if I'm going to be honest. Great car don't get me wrong, sound is amazing and id argue its suspension being double wishbone is superior to that of my Gt4, however I use my car as a track car and felt that the GT4 was the better option despite being a 20k price difference (with my spec). The Emira in my opinion is a 85k car that looks like a 200k car with a 110k price point. very competently designed, well preforming, sports car, just feels like it is masquerading as something its not. reliability will definitely come into factor as these cars age over the next few years as well. Regardless congratulations on your car man so long as you love it and enjoy the experience that's all that matters in the end.
i have an upcoming video with my Emira on track, same with the Boxster GTS 4.0. The way I'd summarize it is: emira far more fun and engaging on street - boxster/cayman far more competent and confidence inspiring on track
@@jubbalandcars i can’t wait to see the video, and what i ment by the suspension being superior i ment architecture wise, the McPherson on the 718s and especially the GT4 is much like you said just so much more dialed, the rawness of the emira is enjoyable, but i would debate some of that more “fun” is kind of a byproduct of design oversight.

I hope to buy an Emira after I pay off my house in a few years, or maybe the Evora GT if it's a lot cheaper by then. Most modern Lotus are dialled in to be under steer biased, so the front/rear weight balance is probably more of a perception than an actual trait. Track driving will obviously help to expose the reality. People forget that the Cayman has been honed since 1996 if you include the 986 lineage. Emira is in its first flush.
