Yeah I got mine finished. FYI buy more nuts and glue, I had some falling off and it is nice to have extra on hand, this is her third or fourth so hers is perfect spacing. Also some in the bag were cracked. I started with my cheap little blue glue gun but ran and bought a new bigger glue gun. Also I recommend using lots of glue, the longer sticks really are the best.On mine up close u can see my glue but since about 15 fell off when I first picked it up it is a must. It is all worth it in the end they look expensive and rich. I’m keeping mine inside. I ordered the wreath part fro jofab because it is wider. Was about $13 . It is called a willow wreath. I will switch out ribbons for fall and 🎄 CHRISTMAS. It is heavier than most wreath but no worries. Thank u Laura, what a pleasure
Ps. So much anxiety about the 🐿 I read at some point the whitehouse had squirrels digging up tulip bulbs so they put out a squirrel feeder and they stopped.
Great DYI..kind of off topic, But I was watching your video where you were discussing your allium and wanted to share my DYI with them. After my Globe Alliums have bloomed fully and have lost there purple color I spray paint the globe. I put tin foil on the stem to keep the paint off, and paint the globe. This year I went candy apple red, other years I've painted the globes orange or pink. It doesn't hurt them, they come back every year. Just thought I'd share. Love your channel!!
You make some beautiful wreaths. Last year I followed your example with hydrangeas and made a wreath which is still looking good. If I made this walnut wreath, the squirrels in my garden would have a great lunch. However, I think that we have to think creatively and use what we have to make our homes beautiful. Thank you for mentoring us in thinking outside of the box.
Whoever started that cruel tradition of making Christmas lights white?! They're supposed to be multicolored. To me (and to each their own), white lights make your home look a fancy restaurant. Boo! :)
Jake Jones I agree with you for the most part. When I put Christmas lights on my house I definitely use multi colored. I just thought white lights would look better on this wreath.
I think my little squirrel friends would rip this to shreds😆 I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't dig up my tulips -- I shouldve put chicken wire over my bulbs. But this looks wonderful Laura, I love how your mom has greatly influenced you...and all of us ❤🥰

Beautiful wreath. Just a little hint (in case you are not using this) that might be helpful. Use the Gorilla glue, glue sticks. They really hold on well. Also, Liz at Traditions By The Seasons (on You Tube) has shown us a trick for hanging wreaths. She buys a curtain holder. It's a squeeze clip with a ring on it that can be found at Wal Mart. I love this wreath, just beautiful!! Nothing is more beautiful than nature, imo, I'd love to see you use natural materials like this to teach us how to make other wreaths :)
Love this project. Reminds me of the beautiful items Martha Stewart used to make back when she started and was filming her show from her home on Turkey Hill Road. I have a lot of squirrels, though, and they are frequently on my front porch. I wonder if they would try to steal the nuts? Maybe they wouldn't be able to reach it.
We have squirrels and chipmunks, and raccoons. Boy the noise they would make all night long. I had put out suet one year. Found the cage 200 feet away near the back fence of our yard. We have a corn field next door. Every day there are 10-15 ears of corn in or by our trees on the fence line. I have a trail camera out and have caught some great pics. Having fun in NE Ohio.
Indoor wreath! Or for sure a squirrel larder for next February when they wake from hibernation lol. The squirrels are busy as we speak plucking chestnuts off the neighbor's trees, chewing through the husk and burying the beautiful shiny red nuts in my yard. The neighborhood is littered with husks! You'll save them work for sure if you hang it outside 🍁🍂🐿🐿🐿🍁🍁🍂🍂
I glad you mention the price. You pick one of the expensive nuts to decorate with.Lol thank goodness I have walnuts and pecans tree in my area so I can't make a few .A beautiful idea thanks for sharing.
My Wife would go NUTS for one of those! I think I might ask her to collect Pine Cones if the Squirrels haven't got to them already, to keep the cost down a little and leave the squirrels some peanuts as a swap! How can anyone give this video a thumbs down? A brilliant video.... A BIG THUMBS UP FROM ME👍😆👍
I was so inspired to make this adorable wreath that I went to my local craft store and bought everything necessary to make it...what I didn't plan for was not being able to find whole walnuts in my area! It would be too costly to buy them on Amazon ($150). So bummed :( I am still on the hunt though, not giving up. Wish me luck!
When my kids were in grade school, we had a horse chestnut tree at our house. The chestnuts were a beautiful color, and we used cardboard cutout into a wreath shape, and glued the chestnuts on. Brings back great memories.
Last week on my back deck I found a walnut carefully placed behind a pillow on my green chair cushion. I guess the little Squirrel thought the green cushion was grass😊they’ve been busy in our backyard...neighbor has a black walnut tree & buckeye tree and we have a chestnut tree. Squirrel buffet.
Thank you Laura and Aaron for this video...I’ve never been a craft person or DIYer but you guys are so inspiring in all aspects of life that you show us through video...I look forward to each and every video...on the search for Walnuts ❤️
Just finished making this and it turned out amazing...I had to use a straw wreath form my hobby lobby didn’t have anything like the one in the video so we’ll see if it holds up...this was much heavier than I expected and I wish I had found a sturdier wreath hanger but it looks amazing I’ll be making another one soon!!
Thanks so much for the tutorial! I really love this project and will be making a couple this weekend. I also got some small wreath forms that my granddaughter will use to make a few Christmas ornaments out of acorns she’s collected from our property. We were going to leave them natural, but now I think we will spray paint. We will certainly have to get some glitter spray too! 💚🙌 🍂🍁
Haha! I asked about the making video on instagram when you posted the pictures! Ask and you shall receive! This is brilliant!!! Thanks for sharing! Also, once you are done with the walnuts, you can take them down, break them and mix the nuts into bird feed. :)
It might have been easier to wrap your wreath first with burlap ribbon. Background blends into the nuts & it would give the nuts better grip instead of hoping to hit a couple of vines here & there.
This will be a fun craft! It is so beautiful using just nuts. I love it! I am sorry you wore out your glue gun. But - just as we know - you took it in stride. Always Good lessons!
Hi Laura and Aaron! What a fun project! Where's Mom to help you? LOL! It's nice how you and your Mom do so much together. Your wreath turned out really nice. Too bad about the glue gun, but I'm sure you got your $'s worth out of it LOL! Thank you both for sharing!

Hmmmm, I wonder if a coat of polyurethane would help keep them together for longer (especially if you have squirrels). Might have to try that myself! Thanks for the awesome idea - your mum's wreaths and yours look great :-D
