This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank You so much. I'm torturing myself by switching back and forth between Cachy and Windows. I think the best solution is probably just getting a bigger NVMe and dual booting both..
@@ProtoDeVNan0 Yes, dual booting is great. Especially if you also install the Refind boot manager, which allows you to choose the system you want to boot to easily on start up. Here Philippines Gamer's Lounge is explaining how to set it up: th-cam.com/video/CSbD1JsO6og/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RbYDAn_JhZw2NVDW
And thank you for the great feedback! 😃👍👍 I'm especially happy that this video seems to be helpful for you guys, as I put a lot of work into it in several evenings after my actual work.
For two drives the only option on the Legion Go would be an SSD and a Micro-SD (which would be too slow for some of the modern AAA titles, but no problem for most games, just giving a bit less performance and highly increased loading times) -> But probably you meant on a normal pc, right? That would be a good tip and make it easier there not having to partition everything. Probably even running slightly faster?
Awesome video, i have bazzite in my rog ally , this kind of makes me want to install cachyos now. I had steam deck i always loved how steamos handles sheder cache and the better 1% lows.
@@siulmagic Thank you! 😉👍. Yes I would recommend CachyOS over Bazzite, because of it's better performance. For the rest it behaves quite similiar. You can also install Deckyloader and it's plugins if you want. Which I didn't do, as I'm happy with the stock functions of the Gaming mode.
@Lockwood360 Does it also have a gaming mode for handhelds by now? As as I tested Nobara didn't have it yet and no controller support out of the box... And in my experience it wasn't as fast as CachyOS - but it has been months ago.
@@EvryGama Has literally everything out of the box and yes you can setup steam bug picture. Thats all gaming mode is lol. Even has MangoHUD preconfigured.
Hello there: Couple of questions: Does it boot to steam like frontend loke bazzite? Does it support all controllers buttons, TDP and features? been thinking on dual booting and using cachy os, but need to know if it works just like bazzite, really like the steam front end feeling, What about the suspend feature, does it work like steamdeck? Ty for the video been looking this specifically for the legion go.
Hi @jsleon3k, yes it boots to a steam OS like gaming mode frontend like Bazzite. For me it essencially looks and feels exactly the same. Also Handheld Daemon for TDP control can be accessed by double tapping onto the right Legion button. The game suspend mode works great like in Bazzite, or Steam OS. And yes, it feels like Steam OS. If you want to dual boot to it, I would recommend to you to look at the two videos I added in into the description from Philippine Gamer's Lounge, as he explains it really well how to properly install, partition and how to install this additional tool which allows you to choose CachyOS, or Windows 11 at start up. Thank you for your feedback 😉👍👍
Great comparison, im on bazzite dual booting with window 11 i always curious abuot the performance of bazzite and cachyOS. One thing that i realize in your video is that you set 30w tpd and 800p resolución, do you prefer to use 800p/fsr over 1200p with in game fsr? Because the second option is better if the game support natively FSR.
Hi @darksaga02, yes all the comparisons were done in 30 Watt mode in CachyOS and in the highest custom TDP settings possible in Windows. I usually prefer 800p over 1200p, to have higher frame rates. On Windows I'm using the integer scaling option in the AMD drivers and set the games to 800p ingame and switch the system resolution to 1600p, which gives a big image quality improvement with low to no impact on performance. For older games I prefer to directly play on the display's native 1600p. But I think it is just a matter of how you prefer to play 😉.
Phoronix had something about an NTSYNC (not the band) kernel feature needing some changes that gained some pretty impressive perf for some games. There's indeed still perf on the table, so I agree with you.

Yeah for a normal pc , I only use 2 drives because and especially for beginner's they will at some point break their windows partition.

Bazzite uses cachyOS kernel btw. Unless you want a Mutable OS system cachyOS won’t provide significant performance changes to you.
How did you like this video? Please let me know it here in the comments 😉.
Similar Results with Nobara on my desktop. Nobara and Cachy both very fast gaming distros. I like Nobara personally its Fedora based.
