Woodturning - Christmas Gift for a Woodturner - Vevor Woodburner

In this week’s woodturning video, Harry was contacted to see if he wanted to try out a wood burning kit from Vevor. What beaver doesn’t want new tools to play with his wood with?
Vevor sent us a woodburning (pyrography) kit that had two handles with replaceable tips! I have been wanting some pens with the replaceable tips for a while now so I could try making my own tips from Ni-Chrome Wire.
After using the woodburner I was truly impressed at how well it works for being below $50. I’ve used two other woodburners in the past, a Colwood Cub which retails for around $75 and a more expensive unit that is nearly FOUR times the price of this Vevor unit! I really couldn’t tell any difference between them. The handle actually didn’t get as hot as the Colwood pens.
I’ve got no idea about this units longevity but I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is wanting to try out wood burning for a first time. The fact that it comes with two pens is awesome and it seems to be strong enough to maintain a constant heat so you can get a consistent burn.

I managed to get a good 40/40 grind on my Glaser V15 gouge. The most challenging part of it might have been getting the platform to 40° but after it was complete it cut like a champ!
