Tearing into the back of this Tacoma frame

It is time to finish up the back of this Tacoma frame. First I have to remove as many things as possible so I have extra room to work. Then I can attack the frame with a grinder to get everything cleaned up.

it would be nice to know exactly what happened and where did the protective OEM frame coating disappeared to!

Toyota truck frames of this era were notorious for frame rusting issues, especially in the rust belt. Many say the reason is due to a lack of protective coatings from the frame supplier.

I have heard great things about Fluid Film and other products. That is something I will be adding once the vehicle is finished.

FF is not the best stuff for the high-wash areas... it failed miserably on my taco a few years ago when i was testing it... washed right off in the wheelhouse areas and had to reapply when it was zero degrees F out to keep salt off... i have since found a better product WW HV that is SO Much BETTER than FF junk... but it does collect large amounts of dirt and sand which is challenging to get off
