    I work as a nissan salesman and the manual SR Turbo is a blast to drive. Honestly, I didn't want to get out of the car. The Turbo with CVT is good enough and prolly better for everyday driving in the city, but heck, I haven't has as much fun with a manual since the old days with my '95 Miata and '03 GTI. Thanks Ben for saying such good things about the car. No fake news here.

    • @CeeStyleDj
      @CeeStyleDj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Joe De La Garza The CVT is actually faster in 0 to 60 in 6.5 versus the manual at around 7 but I'm sure the manual is more fun

      Joe De La Garza best of luck trying to sell this car to anyone when you have a base model 370z sitting next to it for only 3k more on the window sticker :/

    • @LakeHowellDigitalVideo
      @LakeHowellDigitalVideo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aidensnow5017 I've never seen a dealer actually stock a base model 370z. Most of them rack up the options to get the MSRP around $40k for every 370z. It's an apples to oranges comparison too -- it's not like you can carry more than two people in a Z versus a real backseat and a massive trunk in the SR Turbo.

      @@BCY They definitely didn't.this car is quality throughout because it's Nissan's Corolla from Japan and not sporty until they changed the engine and the chassis still remains but Nissan did a great job turning a not very sporty car into what it is.

      HolyMoses216 it's nice to see a positive comment about this car. There are a lot of salty haters out there for some reason. actually there's no reason for anyone to hate on this car. Nissan takes this car one step above the SR Turbo which is a really cool thing. Respected Automotive journalist has said this is a fun car with enough power and enhanced handling over the SR turbo which Already has enhanced handling over the Sentra SR. Everyone seems to want to drive the same old s*** these days so it's nice to have something unique.

    Very good, useful review. Looking to test drive this car as well as the new Hyundai Elantra sport. As far as the eco and sport buttons, I would agree with what you said regarding the eco button. I think the sport button would be noticeable with the auto transmission, as opposed to the manual you drove. As far as other reviews commenting that this car is underpowered, or comparing it to other completely different cars (such as the ford mustang); those people just dont get it. Again, good review. You hit all the most important and relevant points that many reviewers miss, which is HOW IT DRIVES AND PERFORMS. A quick no nonsense real world 0-60 time was good too. My music in the car is very important, so a quick mention of the Bose sound system was helpful, as well as talking about the seats.

    Car looks great. Has tons of potential, but $25k is too steep; similar price of a WRX, and only 3k less than a 370z. I'll wait for them to drop down to the low 20s.

    • @craigt9415

      @buildmorefarms1007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nissan has a $1,000 rebate on it and dealers are discounting 1500+,- over and above that. So you are looking at 22,500 easily for the Nismo. WRX is 27k base model-not in the same league in any respect.

    • @craigt9415
      @craigt9415 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      buildmorefarms100 that's great they've added incentives. At $25,000 it lacks an LSD, IRS, apple car play/AA, it simply can't compete at that price. This is a $22,000 car at best, mechanically it's a stiffer suspension Sentra Turbo built on an old 2012 platform. I'd wouldn't mind one second hand when they are half the price because I really like the look they gave it.

    Love the look of the car definitely. But $25k for a car with 188HP/177lb-ft torque is a little much. I'm sure it handles great, but there's just a lot of other cars with better performance with great handling around the same price range.

    Great video review of the sentra. I enjoyed it it seemed really honest.
    This shares the same Powertrain components as the Juke, So sport mode would " tighten" the steering feel and add +2lbs of boost. ECO mode cause the boost to come on much later RPM and reduce throttle feel.
    I have the same seats in my juke and they are maybe the best feature of the nismo trim. Super comfortable for daily driving but holds you in the corners for the weekends.

    Compared to other cars, it doesn't seem to offer too much for the $25k. I have a 2014 Sentra, and it's great on fuel and practicality. Definitely a lot of space. But the Civic with a turbo comes at $21k with similar power. The priciest one with standard features is still cheaper. I was dissappointed with the price to feature ratio. 200+ HP, slightly louder exhaust, and better interior equipment would justify the price. But 50 extra hp over my car for an extra 8,000 is way too much.

      @@shouldigetit Your review just rocks - I would choose the Nissan Sentra NISMO over the SR Turbo because of the seats, Alcantara steering wheel and all of the NISMO-appointed bits on it. Thank you sir! I've seen articles that say there's no moonroof, to increase rigidity in the frame that Nissan is going for with this car. However, on Nissan's website when you build a Sentra Nismo, one of the options is a moonroof wind deflector. Can't have a moonroof wind deflector without a moonroof, eh? lol I've been a Nissan guy for a long time, so I've always liked their products. It really looks fun and practical, the price is right even with a few options (I would get the Bose package; I have a Bose system in my Maxima and I love it), and love that trunk space. and even with the single pipe in the back, it still sounds good!

      If only they tune the turbo 1.6 to way over 200hp. otherwise the sr turbo fits the bill for me.

    • @LakeHowellDigitalVideo
      @LakeHowellDigitalVideo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree -- The SR Turbo is definitely the better value. I also wanted a moonroof (not available on the Nismo trim). The cloth seats in the SR Turbo are really good too -- so the Nismo seats come down to a personal preference.

I tested the car before he returned it to the Lexus dealership in our city. The car had 90% tread left on the original tires. No hot rodding, no BS damage repairs, just a little communication between two neighbors...

    • @craigt9415
      @craigt9415 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I plan to but it won't change my comment. Simply put Nissan shouldn't have called it a Nismo. Using a brand name like Nismo gives buyers an expectation and when used on an application like this dilutes that name. That would be the same as SI, WRX or Shelby tightening suspension on a regular model and throwing a performance badge on it.

    • @lolsmol
      @lolsmol 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you mean STI and not WRX, but I get what you mean. I was hoping for more power, at the very least. Comparing this with a new Civic (ones with a turbo), I'd pick the Civic instead. Almost the same power. The biggest difference would just be the sporty body kit and Bose audio, which is not worth the extra $4,000. Had it came with 210-250 HP, with a louder exhaust (sound much like an Alfa Romeo 4C), I'd be happy to spend 25K on this car.

    • @craigt9415
      @craigt9415 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I mean WRX. The WRX is a performance package to the Impreza. The WRX STI adds more performance to a standard WRX. People simply say STI rather than WRX STI because it doesn't roll off the tongue quick enough.
      I agree had it come with more power you could live with some downfalls, however, given it's 2012 design and the price tag being so close to the brand new platformed civic, elantra sport, focus ST (hatch I know), but comparing bang for buck (HP/TQ, IRS, LSD, fuel economy, android auto/apple car play, etc.) the others offer far more performance and tech for only a little extra money.
      Simply put I love the look of this car, but knowing what it does not offer I would not choose it over any competitors unless they lowered the price to 22K.

    • @lolsmol

    I hate people who make these reviews that are most likely getting payed from the manufacture. I am 100% sure he knows nothing about cars. This car is not affordable and no where close to being a value to performance car. There are many cars in this segment that have more hp, that are faster and have the room to match. This car is over priced junk and that is coming from a Nissan Fan. I have owned 4 new Nissans and about 8 used Nissans.

    • @shouldigetit
      @shouldigetit  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andreas I can tell you for a fact I am (unfortunately) never paid by manufacturers to make these videos. That would more than likely make the reviews biased.
      Watch my other videos and tell me I know nothing about cars, please. As I mentioned in the video (towards the end), I thought this car was underpowered at first and not worth it but after spending a week without my mind changed and I took it out 9/10 times even when I had a Mini Cooper S (6spd manual, Borla exhaust) with more power in the driveway. After getting accustomed to it I can honestly say I'd recommend it to a friend. It may not be fast, but it sure is quick.

    • @Tarzan91303
      @Tarzan91303 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Andreas Mikoleiczik just cuz you can't afford this car doesn't mean it's not affordable. The median price for cars in this category is between 19k and 21k. This is right in line with the SR Turbo. And since this is a Nismo, it's a bargain at 25k cuz it's exclusive. Think Nismo Z, Juke and GT-R. Therefore I think YOU don't know a thing about cars.
