As an employee of Nissan for almost 5 years, I have been holding out for a 240sx replacement, and we thought the IDx was going to be a thing, so we sat back and waited... and waited... then found out they gave up. I have ordered my 2017 Sentra SR Turbo (Blue, no premium pack) with a manual transmission, and I currently drive a 2004 Sentra SER Spec V with over 170k on the clock. I will hopefully be able to give the best sort of feedback for what I expected vs. what I received. That being said, I would have liked to see the SR Turbo have 200hp, just to say its 200hp. Clearly the car is not meant to be extremely fast, but I would expect the NISMO to be however much horsepower and torque is necessary to pull the car from 0-60 in 6 seconds flat. I will be looking into a K&N box filter, and a manual boost controller. I want to turn up the boost just a tad and see what happens. I sold my built 1990 Talon TSI AWD, and my 92 Laser RS Turbo AWD to get my Sentra SR Turbo, so we'll see what I can do to extrapolate a few more ponies!
Stan G take it to Joe Ippolito at 2JRacing who can tune the nismo and he is located 20 minutes outside Altanta. increase 100 wtq and 50 whp. uprev tune.
To answer the question: This car was supposed to have a 1.8L Turbo with 240hp. Later, I heard from a reliable source, that it would have similar power to the Juke Nismo RS (220hp), but somewhere along the line Nissan decided no, and just went with 188hp. Not sure exactly why, I'm guessing for emissions or CAFE? I agree with you 220hp would have been fine. Reason? The previous generation (2007-2012) SE-R Spec V had 200hp, it doesn't make sense for it's spiritual succors to have anything less than that. I'm guessing that Nissan will hopefully release a Nismo Sentra SR with 220hp in the future.
It's also quite over priced. Previous gen Spec V was 200hp @ $22k. This is $3k more expensive. It should have been in the low 20s. I would have liked: $20k for SR Turbo, $22.5k for Nismo Sentra.
few things, its all because of the civic, Nissan has always been Honda main competitor and most of there product releases are set and aimed straight at Honda so it makes sense to bring out the nismo around the same time as the civic sport and the nismo rs (or r) around the same time the civic type R drops (also the nismo sentra really has a balpark of 200-210's bhp inside of it and was tuned down with the epa in mind, this car hits its rev limiter way before its out of juice and can quite possibly be tapped into with a simple air intake and electrical mod but.... that's none of my business)
XenomorphLV426 i think they're bringing out the nismo altima around this year october or 2018 they've discontinued the build for the 5th gen altimas and the 5.5 altima , and are preparing for making a new one I. the plant .
Only problem is, why wouldn't you just get a WRX at that point? Or even a Focus ST? The problem I have with these compact fun cars, is that they really aren't much cheaper than the "big brothers". The Fiesta ST starts at 21,000 and the Focus ST starts at 24,000, not really a big difference with how much you compromise by getting the Fiesta.
larry Spiller I too would prefer to have a Fiesta ST over the Focus ST, but only on the used market. I would never buy a Fiesta ST new, because I just don't see the value in one when the Focus doesn't cost much more.
Car sits too high for a Nismo suspension. Believe it for not, there was a Nismo Sentra back in 04-06. It was called the SE-R Spec V R-Tune/S-Tune. The Nismo suspension actually gave it a nice stance, and amazing handling.
Having been a proud owner of a 2005 Sentra SE-R Spec V, I would like the 2017 Nismo Sentra to produce around 220 hp and come in around $27K Cdn fully loaded.
Since it is a bump above the SR-Turbo, it only makes sense to have a 15 to 20 horsepower increase along with the suspension and cosmetic goodies because without that, it just seems like another trim level..... That being said, I still like it and I still think it's cool. I have been waiting for a performance Sentra for a long time....as for price: 24k. South Florida here.
Priced competitively with the Fiesta ST, and it should have 200-210 horse power. Texas For me, Nissan has kind of just been one step behind in the fun spectrum. The 370z is great, but its way out dated at this point, and again, with the Nismo version, you don't get any more power, you get some suspension goodies and rigidity, which is great if you autocross or track the car, which most people don't. I will say, the GTR seems to be looking good with its new refresh, but its kind of lost its edge with its price. I just don't really understand the direction Nissan is headed. I love this car but haters will hate, but anyway. I wish ppl STOP comparing this with the VW GTI there are 2 different cars. But I would make 2 versions like the Juke. Nismo & Nismo RS. The base Nismo will b this one but it will b 200hp-190lbs, CVT ratios will be more aggressive than the SR 188hp version. And sunroof standard. The Nismo RS version will be the concept motor 240hp-240lbs, different rims, bigger tail pipe, D ring steering wheel, Juke RS seats, 12in front rotors, 11.7in rears, the exterior chrome will be ALL BLACKED out a RS exclusive.
I live in Orlando Florida and I work for both Nissan and Hyundai. I've had the opportunity to drive the alarm for Sport with 201 horses so I think minimally the Sentra Nismo should have approximately 200 to 220 hp to represent the mismo brand properly. as for Price Point anywhere from $27k to $30k should be accepted with that type of horsepower and performance
I have the Nissan Sentra 2016 S-Type it's almost the same engine as the Nissan Nismo I I wanted more power on my car so I modified it now has 6.4 L V8 engine
This car, in my opinion, is a must have. Why? Well, for one, it's 1.8L is great on gas, while it is preppy enough to push out 188hp. Yeah, it could've used a 2.0 at least and 200-240hp wouldn't have hurt it any, at the end of the day, it's still is a Sentra. It's a great, reliable, budget friendly car that appeals to 21 year old college students like me that live in the city. The NISMO package just makes it that much more desirable. With a bit of tuning, this would be a GREAT all around car, FWD and all. Could've used RWD, though.
I think 240-250 is enough, needs at least 200 ft-lbs and something to sort out the inevitable torque steer and understeer. I think an extra 3 grand is fair, just make it right. Granted, I will never own another FWD econobox, and props for the manual!
Motoman love the review. I live in southern California. The hot spot for hot hatches and tuner cars. The Sentra Nismo should've had the 215 hp from the Juke Nismo RS and priced at $24k. With its current 188 hp it should be priced at $22k. Maybe Nissan should of had the Nismo with 188 hp and added a Nismo RS with 215 hp as well. $25k for the Nismo is waaaaay too much considering the competition.
I love this car and am excited to try one and sit in the big sport seats. My only complaint I can see is this. . Under the HVAC system there is 4-5 inches of bland plastic. Why not make a 4-5" storage cubby for your cell phone, wallet, ipod, etc. like the elantra sport or GTI. All they give you is a 2x2" coin holder and power outlet.
Motoman, I think its simple for Nissan. You stick with what works. All of Nismo released products should always have more horsepower than regular sport versions. Just like the Nismo 370z, 350hp vs 332 hp (that's 18hp difference), GT-R Nismo, 600 hp vs 565 hp (that's 35hp difference) , same with regular Turbo Juke and Nismo version. THERE IS AN INCREASE IN HP that makes more special. So I did say if Nissan marketing wants to be really smart. A better intake or exhaust with a mildly aggressive tune that will probably only cost $600-1,100 per car but will increase 15-20hp should be something they should root for. This car with 205-210 hp in this trim should be very good. Although my wish of 240-250hp like the Nismo Sentra concept is what I would really like.
OK first things first, for the NISMO it should be at least 200 and possibly 210 HP. That way it will be able to completely compete with the VW GTI, and maybe the Subaru WRX. I don't think that is hard because they are not completely a leather option, and speed deterrent systems. My 2006 Acura TSX goes at least 201 HP. I am living in Alabama, and oh it should be priced fully about 30k thank you.
This should be a potential competitor to the WRX, i.e. manual transmission compact that is performance oriented. It should be in the 250-275 hp range, with an equivalent torque number. I'd be willing to pay $27k-$28k. Hailing from Orlando!
what the 2013 Concept had, over 240hp and over 240lbs of torque. I own a 2003 Sentra SE-R SPEC V and it is a quick car, I was hoping this one would best the Civic Si. I hope the make the Sentra NISMO RS.
Between 230-250 and about the price, I'm from Canada so that mean canadian money. And a fully speced SRTurbo after tax here in the north is $29.350 so for a more powerful nismo i'll be will to pay $35.000 all in.
Yeah np...If you like the new sentra sr-turbo give it a test drive. I did. Its pretty quick. Obviously no race car monster under the hood, but its got some quickness. No Elantra sports available yet for test drive, so I cant compare it, but I will that car out as well.
Boateng 2018 Yeah the SR Turbo seems like a great car, just not personally my kind of car, nor would I be ready to shell out upwards of $22,000 for one. That being said my car is probably quicker and drives better - it also isn't chock full of artificial materials.
Going with AUD sticker prices I would say 195hp and 30-34K (keep in mind a brand new BRZ costs 40K in our market). That said I have had basically no seat time in new cars, so I'm not sure how that would compare in feel to its competitors. I do know the frustration of a chassis and suspension that outperforms the engine, as my car had the stiffest chassis in the supermini class when new (circa 2006) and larger than average brakes, but was unfortunately fitted with a non-VVT 1.6 which could do 0-60 in 11.5 seconds.
200+ hp at least and 25-30k depending on options. Im more then willing to add a bit more to that for a sunroof, might even need to cross it off the list for the fact it dose not have one. Baltimore. Edit: nvm is been found out this car easy has 200-210's power inside of it, and could easily be tapped into with a new air intake and a electrical tune. its rev limiter really is holding this car back. and on that note, my next car!
Renault do a 220 hp version of THIS engine. So 220 hp is no big ask really. Given the damper improvement over the standard SR plus the bigger rubber it shouldn't need any other improvements the Nismo version doesn't already have. This power should come standard with the Nismo package.
You would have been a very good conductor I'm sure ;-) This one is the first Nissan I've seen in a long time that I would've been proud to own. ....looks very nice. ....but agree with you on the horse power they should've offered more.
230hp, 230tq 22k base 25k loaded WITH A SUNROOF! (considering i can get a fully loaded Fiesta ST minus recaros with 197hp and 202tq for 23.5k) Oh and I'm in the US, in FLorida
Also, now that i've watched the entire video, being a big Nissan fan/owner, I would've have paid base WRX money (26k'ish) for 220hp in the Sentra Nismo. So maybe for an extra thousand dollars or so, they will offer a Sentra Nismo RS with more power?
I see an okay automobile all around, but it doesn't have anything to help stand out from the competition. This Nissan looks fine, and I have no desire for it. You can tell the people at Nissan if they find their courage I will buy an IDx.
Oh boy, MotoMan, since you're big on design, I really want to hear your opinion on that single offset tailpipe poking through the fake diffuser. It looks.....um.....well, like I said, I want to hear your opinion. :P
honestly, this should have close to whatever the new civic HP is. The SI should be considered ita main competition. Personally 215 HP would've been fine. I'm from Puerto Rico. Also do you think the should've just called this the SE-R and held the nismo title for a type r competitor? (if they ever make one)
I love Nissan and I really think Nissan one of great manufactures I don't understand why they didn't include sunroof I agree it's not going to make any difference even if your going track it also it doesn't include apple car play and android auto otherwise I would've bought this than new Cruze
I was driving my 2000 celica GT-S 6 speed on the freeway the other night and had a loud black SR turbo get beside me...bugging me and begging, it sounded nice and lots of wooshy turbo noises...like fiesta ST drivers..., so I bite, I slow down to 60 in 3rd gear.. no where near lift and completely out of my powerband for faster or built cars I roll 6200 rpm 2nd gear...but anyway, he beeps 3 times and I pull on him immediately not even in lift, after I past 6300 rpm get onto lift and pull hard to 8500 rpm while still in 3rd then shifting to 4th. he is nothing but some tiny little headlights way back in my rear view mirror, Nissan, give this car some balls, 180ish HP with the weight of an Altima is not going to help you. when the GT-S came out it to was 180hp but 2400 IBS, which translated to 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, power to weight is everything. I just have I/h/e+tune with no back seats, trim etc.. I think a NISMO should be a stripped out grippier little four door rocket. like the old SE-R SPEC V's. yet this has 30 less HP...what? you're doing what Toyota did to TRD, turning it into an aperance package. at least do what mugen did for the si.
I feel like a Nismo should have more than 180 hp. Probably around 220 ish. But that's pushing it I guess. Not only that. Price wise I'd say no more than $17k I guess. Why? Well one of the reasons for me is apple car play (like you mentioned in the video) or something different. I don't know but there's a lot of reasons I believe.
Wow.. blast from the past. This thing looks like it could compete with the 2008 Corolla S. What is Nissan doing.. Infinity has such beautiful cars and then they do this?!?
Thanks for the vid MotoManTV, but a Mazda 3 with the 2.5 makes about the same HP and torque? From a Nismo edition?? Nissan I was with you in the 80 & 90's, (I owned a couple of your cars) but you lost me in the 00's, now I swear you are taking the piss... I would have thought it would be around that new Elantra Sport in terms of price and power or maybe a cheaper Focus ST? From New Zealand, now living in Canada.
You LykeMe i believe they're going to do that maybe next year or the 9th gen maxima, band the 6th gen altima , but of they did a tune for the maxima which has 300hp stock , it would have at least 330hp -350ish max and that would cut into the onfiniti sales , cause of it comes stock at 325-350ish HP , you could probably mod those , and exhaust and intake should do the trick , but I guess that's why they won't tune the maxima .
I seen this car at the CAS (Chicago Auto Show) and was wondering if anyone knows if the is is going to be a limited production vehicle and if so how many units are going to be built?
couple of red plastic things on each end and some wheels, wow everyone will be uber intrigued with the Nismo ultra low power, a Smart car could out run it. Take the Versa add some wheels and red plastic and the Sentras turbo engine, instant Versa Nismo it would be a better deal
Some comparisons: VW GTI - $26K, 200 HP Ford Focus ST- $25K, 252 HP Honda Civic Si - $25k? 220-240 HP? Nissan Sentra SR Turbo - $22K, 188 HP Recommendation for 2017 Nismo Sentra - $24.5K, 250 HP Also, in the group, only the Sentra has a torsion beam rear... That will probably put it at a disadvantage handling-wise. Make it fast and cheap.
Its obvious Nissan(Nismo) aimed VERY low with this car, like Fiesta ST territory, but the jury is still out if it even holds a candle to that car's performance capabilities until you and the rest of the auto journalists drive it thoroughly. I honestly think if they were set on producing a compelling FWD sport compact to eat into the market share, they should've AT LEAST offered a 250hp powerplant to compete square with the Focus ST, nothing less. And coming from a Nissan homer in my sport compact days(I've owned 2 B13 SE-Rs and a P11 G20t) I am absolutely appalled with what Nissan has offered. They had every chance to knock one out of the park here after Ford and Mazda have set the bar, but they fell flat on their face. I dig the styling inside and out(sans the cheesy, played out faux carbon fiber trim and the 4x4 ride height). However, the lackluster engine is such a turn off. Being that I want to love this car, I may buy a used one in 5-10 years, swap it for a bigger ball bearing turbo and beefed-up internals and LSD, and have it as my beater daily driver just for nostalgic sakes. You dropped the ball on this one, Nissan. Shame on you. - Frank from NorCal
at one time I have a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V Sunburst yellow 2003 the car has 180 horsepower the car looked fantastic for the time. I wish that Nissan would have made this car Fantastic Four this time. Why they are not using the Ser name anymore I don't understand considering the popularity in the US of those letters I would have suggested Nissan had about 215 to 220 horse in this particular model most people remember the ser and the Spec V forgive my spelling I am using voice to text
This vehicle should have had at least 220-250hp for $25k, and I would prefer it to be all motor as opposed to turbo. The previous spec v(basically this is the new version) had 200hp. 20hp lost? Maybe the power band is better in this vehicle, the gearing is better, and maybe its faster? I had a 2002 spec v with intake, header, exhaust, and suspension mods, and I loved the car. I actually got rid of it a little under a year ago because I got tired of waiting for this one to finally come out because of all the hype from the prototype over the last couple of years. This is a great disappointment in my eyes, and I'm glad I didn't wait for it.
I'm from NY and I felt like this car would have 220 or 230 horsepower. And I wouldn't mind paying like 23 grand. Around there. It not having a sunroof or android auto/apple CarPlay makes for a sore spot with me

Hey any word back on that Sentra
I'm in Atlanta Georgia
the Sentra NISMO should have
220-250hp
225mm tires (all four wheels)
Sun/Moon Roof
Apple Car Play
for $28k-$30k
Stan G take it to Joe Ippolito at 2JRacing who can tune the nismo and he is located 20 minutes outside Altanta. increase 100 wtq and 50 whp. uprev tune.
Should have 215 HP. I just bought mine, getting it tomorrow ;) 2018! With a sunroof!
Hell yeah :-). Just picked up a 2019 💨
I think a 2.0 would of been good! 200 hp, im from Chicago
An exhaust, headers and a tune hopefully pets it up more

Pretty sure I'm trading in my 2015 SV. Has just over 12k miles and still looks and smells brand new.
I would love to have this car just for the seats alone. I sat in one at a dealership and they really are super comfortable.
188 hp is weak sauce, but these engines are known to be 300hp with minor mods and a good tune (Juke NIsmo).
200-250hp, 25k-30k Dollars seems reasonable.

MrGovenator1 yeah and storage is probably better too. I wonder what the mpg difference is though. If I had either St models I'd like to use premium
Starting at $25-30k is fair new and deprecate down to the range of $10-18K in a few years. This is deff a pick up to buy used/new-ish than brand new.

keep up the great REVIEWS! love that you're always first to review main stream new cars :)
Very detailed!
Finding this car used right now with 4K miles at $17k. I think at this price point it’s worth it
Love your reviews. So professional, no messing about and no nonsense!
turbo SR20 making ~250 HP and 220 torque priced at $25,500 with upgrades to the tires, and brakes available. Fully loaded at $31,000.
I like that. We don't get the Sentra in the uk. Not sure how nice the non Nismo looks, but I like the exterior of this version.
I think the SR turbo with 180hp makes sense. but the NISMO should definitely have within 200 - 225hp
220 for ~25. A little more than the Elantra sport for the same money to offset Hyundai IRS advantage.
Priced competitively with the Fiesta ST, and it should have 200-210 horse power. Texas

just bought an sr turbo midnight edition for 21,999 so 40 more horses I would say no more than 24,000. I live in NC
This would be an awesome car if it came with 244 hp at the wheels with a 2.2L I-4 turbo. I live in the midwest btw.
I live in Orlando Florida and I work for both Nissan and Hyundai. With a bit of tuning, this would be a GREAT all around car, FWD and all. Could've used RWD, though.
This car is fitted with a 1.6L 4 cyl 188hp 177 lb.ft.torque engine, Jonathan. Did you end up buying yourself a 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO?
I think 240-250 is enough, needs at least 200 ft-lbs and something to sort out the inevitable torque steer and understeer. I think an extra 3 grand is fair, just make it right. Granted, I will never own another FWD econobox, and props for the manual!
Definitely somewhere between 200-230 hp. Along with over 200 lbs ft of torque. The price should be around $25k. I hail from the Southeast (NC)
It's good that there is no sunroof on the Nismo. I wish the SR Turbo was also sold with a solid roof.
It should've had 220hp, 240hp for some real excitement. But hopefully some slight modifications opens it up a bit more.
MotoManTV ^^^
it should have at least the same numbers from the Nismo Juke RS. 210 HP @ $23-24K
Please compare the drive of this to the drive of the new Elantra Sport and which one would you prefer if you'd have to buy one of those.
I do cover it in the FIRST DRIVE REVIEW - coming tomorrow.
AWESOME :D
How much lbs of boost is it putting out? Maybe a simple boost controller can give it the push it needs!
Hello from Chicago! A Sentra Nismo should be at least 205-215 horsepower, but personally i would only pay about 25k for this car at most.
I paid 30k or so for my focus ST, and that has 252 out the box. if this had focus ST/wrx power, I'd have no trouble dropping 30k on it
Wait they brought this back? Is the Altima getting the nismo treatment as well?
Between 230-250 and about the price, I'm from Canada so that mean canadian money. And a fully speced SRTurbo after tax here in the north is $29.350 so for a more powerful nismo i'll be will to pay $35.000 all in.
220 - 245 hp would have been adequate for this price range, and honoring the Nismo "performance" legacy rather than just labeling it as a trim.
I got this car 3 years ago and in the first year I got problems with the transmission . Tomoyim going to the dealer , we’ll see what happens
I guess 180hp and 177lb ft. of torque isn't bad from a 1.6L Turbo.
its 188
Sean James 188hp*
Even better! Thanks for the correction, though.
220 HP $26K USD
I would pay $25k if it had at least 240hp.
or just get the STI, Civic si, Focus or fiesta ST
Yea I'll wait on the new si or type r depending on the price of the latter. Would buy the elantra sport before this. Anyone else notice no sunroof?
I'm from socal and I would at least expect the car to have 220hp to the crank, and I would pay 25k for this sentra.
Renault do a 220 hp version of THIS engine.
So 220 hp is no big ask really. Given the damper improvement over the standard SR plus the bigger rubber it shouldn't need any other improvements the Nismo version doesn't already have. This power should come standard with the Nismo package.
You would have been a very good conductor I'm sure ;-)
This one is the first Nissan I've seen in a long time that I would've been proud to own. ....looks very nice. ....but agree with you on the horse power they should've offered more.
Can't you just upgrade the muffler for a modest 10 hp bump, and it will give the exhaust sound a nicer grunt.
230hp, 230tq 22k base 25k loaded WITH A SUNROOF! (considering i can get a fully loaded Fiesta ST minus recaros with 197hp and 202tq for 23.5k) Oh and I'm in the US, in FLorida
Good video & great Sentra.
glad i bought my 2016 Hyundai Veloster turbo!
some mods and a tune 200hp can be achieved.
Sits kinda high on its wheels. The cat throw space between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender is alittle much.
2.0 Liter with 200 - 220 Horsepower @ $25K
dude!! as u explain the car show the parts when you talk. were here to c the car not you!😀
Also, now that i've watched the entire video, being a big Nissan fan/owner, I would've have paid base WRX money (26k'ish) for 220hp in the Sentra Nismo. So maybe for an extra thousand dollars or so, they will offer a Sentra Nismo RS with more power?
I would expect 235 HP and I would pay 21k for it. I'm from New England.
RWD or nah?
I think it should have 210hp & 188torque even though it is a 1.6T the Hyundai Elantra also has the same engine size but more horses
You going to have a Lexus on the show soon? Since it was on your IG?
I see an okay automobile all around, but it doesn't have anything to help stand out from the competition. This Nissan looks fine, and I have no desire for it.
You can tell the people at Nissan if they find their courage I will buy an IDx.
Oh boy, MotoMan, since you're big on design, I really want to hear your opinion on that single offset tailpipe poking through the fake diffuser. It looks.....um.....well, like I said, I want to hear your opinion. :P
2.0L with 225 HP, I'm from Florida. 25k
honestly, this should have close to whatever the new civic HP is.
The new Sentra got some poor reviews in relation to its peers....I would prefer the Mazda 3
How about a dealer installed options of cold air intake and optimized tune for 91 octane for $450 should take it over 200 hp would be great.
I think a NISMO should be a stripped out grippier little four door rocket. like the old SE-R SPEC V's. yet this has 30 less HP...what? you're doing what Toyota did to TRD, turning it into an aperance package. at least do what mugen did for the si.
does sentra value depreciate fast
210 HP and $27k. I am in UAE
The juke rs come with 215hp :P
I feel like a Nismo should have more than 180 hp. Probably around 220 ish. But that's pushing it I guess. Not only that. Price wise I'd say no more than $17k I guess. Why? Well one of the reasons for me is apple car play (like you mentioned in the video) or something different. I don't know but there's a lot of reasons I believe.
200 hp. Build in whatever is needed or required to keep it reliable. $25k. Also, it bugs me that the radio was updated with car play.
Wow.. blast from the past. This thing looks like it could compete with the 2008 Corolla S. What is Nissan doing.. Infinity has such beautiful cars and then they do this?!?
210hp, $26k...That's all I'd pay for it.
Good work!
I think 220 horsepower would be perfect for this car and i'd pay 25k for it.
Why aren't they putting this badge on the Maxima.
30k and min 200hp, been an import tuner and i would love to test that on a track if its worth it
As a Spec V owner I'm not impressed with the 2017 Sentra. Waiting for the new 240sx.
oh, yeah, the Elantra sport is NOT in the same class. Now when the Hyundai N performance version comes out then let the test begin...
id rather get a 2.0 turbo focus ST with 250hp
I seen this car at the CAS (Chicago Auto Show) and was wondering if anyone knows if the is is going to be a limited production vehicle and if so how many units are going to be built?
couple of red plastic things on each end and some wheels, wow everyone will be uber intrigued with the
Nismo ultra low power, a Smart car could out run it.
Take the Versa add some wheels and red plastic and the Sentras turbo engine, instant Versa Nismo it would be a better deal
Some comparisons:
VW GTI - $26K, 200 HP
Ford Focus ST- $25K, 252 HP
Honda Civic Si - $25k? 220-240 HP?
Nissan Sentra SR Turbo - $22K, 188 HP
Recommendation for 2017 Nismo Sentra - $24.5K, 250 HP
Also, in the group, only the Sentra has a torsion beam rear... That will probably put it at a disadvantage handling-wise. Make it fast and cheap.
starting to lean more towards to the civic type R
