Cool. I never cared about drones before, but this one makes flying one seem a lot cooler.
Custom FPV drones have been around for years now, you can buy kits to make your own or have someone build it for you at your local hobby group, would be much cheaper and higher quality than this.
Unfortunately it counts as beyond visual line of sight flight in EU so you always need a spotter next to you when you goggles.

Ghost Platoon, the novel, describes JDAM like smart mortars with HE warheads coupled with small POV drones strapped to the soldier's backs which act like surveillance and targeting system. Published in 2019 and an exceptional read. Worth my 8 bucks or whatever.

Great video presentation. One thing you didn't mention is that Manual mode is not available with the Motion Controller. I've had mine for over 6 months and it's still as fun as it was back then. And I'd recommend buying the Motion controller too. There is NOTHING like flying with it. If you can imagine being a Fighter Pilot then this is the gig for you! Well worth the two bills in my opinion. Sport Mode is a blast!

If u just get a custom fpv drone. U can have hud like fighter. And they make laser tag for custom drones to dog fight. Z-tag

bro you can buy a BNF or build your own for way less, FPV has also been around for a while hehe, you can practice flying in simulators first, and then move to FPV drones, they are also way more durable, they have a full carbon fiber frame

Instead of just the one camera there could be two cameras on the drone side-by-side like human eyes. The left camera is video for the left eye and the right camera for the right eye. The goggles would then be 3D stereoscopic vision.
"binocular vision" only works on nearby objects. I think you don't really see a difference if the objects are more than 30 feet (10m) away. It would probably look really cool flying near to objects.
You can exaggerate the effect by moving the camera apart but then the scene looks like it has been miniaturized. If you've ever used stereo pairs to view a scene you've likely seen this miniaturization effect.
I've always thought it would be cool if one could remotely change the distance between the cameras. Keep the cameras close together for nearby objects but then move them apart to view objects farther away.

Nice review. The only thing I must have missed is the range. Both in open fields and congested urban environments.
Apparently on open fields it can go up to 10km! Also, flying around obstacles like trees and buildings barely affect it

I still have my mavic pro platinum with the DJI goggles, and it’s probably the closest to fpv I’ve ever gotten but I must say that this DJI drone takes it to a new level
@Dori Tos for me I always like getting things that work out of the box and are easy to use, this drone is targeting a different audience. Plus I’m just comparing it to my mavic not some professional fpv racing quads

There's a youtube video of a guy with an RC MIG-29 with a cockpit camera that tracks his head movements. The situational awareness that it seems to provide is awesome.
The newer Avata drone does, in fact, have head tracking. Pretty neat little feature.

How good is the rocksteady EIS on the DJI FPV? What's your verdict?
The reason of not have 3 axis gimble is, it can give you more immersive feel of flying. You cant feel exitement on perfectly stabilized drone shots

We have the same backpack, I love that thing! I carry my Mavic, spare batteries & a laptop in it & don't worry about a thing. I think it even has room for an FPV drone...

I think the headset has a Virtual Reality training environment in which you learn how to handle a digital version of the FPV drone, in order for new pilots to not risk shattering their very expensive new toy to pieces in the first 3 minutes.

It’s price must be lower than stimulus check, which is 1400 dollars, blaming republicans for this, otherwise if we get 2000 dollars, you will get full feature in this drone.

Well, if it's a racing drone, then presumably you will need someone to race. And, the drones would need to be customized to differentiate them: colored tail lights, body paint, etc. Maybe someone will organize racing leagues?
Nah it definitely isn’t for racing, search this youtube channel, MCK FPV, they are way way faster, over 200km/h, and more durable, in racing you need really durable kwads, it also doesn’t look as agile as hobby grade drones, oh and even freestyle drones are usually faster and more agile, I think this drone is kind of a middle ground between FPV and Photography drones, its more agile, faster and has the nice safety features that DJI has, but it doesn’t compete with racing drones
@@thelazerproject they'll have races exclusively for these dji drones.. but you're right, they wouldn't even compete with the slowest fpv 5" quads..
@@jimmythepyrofpv1797 I think that even my 2.5 inch could beat it in a race, the acceleration is brutal, the DJI one might have a higher top speed, but it definitely doesn’t corner and accelerate as well

@@thelazerproject yeah absolutely man.. i've got a 3" apex with tmotor 1507's that would eat the new dji drone alive in a race.. but this dji fpv drone isn't made for us.. it's target will be mavic owners who want the feeling of fpv without needing any skill.. just means more people interested in freestyle videos and sitting in seats at the races.. i personally think this will be a massive positive for the world of fpv.

Minimal would be 3 batteries. Battery multi charger, wand, £2000

I have been flying an Air 2 for around 6 months, and despite being a newbie with much to still learn, I really want one of these beauty’s just for the pure fun of it.
I’ve NEVER flown anything in the realm of FPV. How’s the learning curve coming from only even flown Mavic?
It’s too tempting to just get one and worry about my overdraft at a later date.

How sturdy is it as I’ve heard from few different people that no matter who or what, there WILL be crashes. It’s apparently just part of the whole FPV journey lol.

And finally….. could anyone drop me some decent links of any videos at all, that is purely DJI FPV in flight, no talking or tutorial/ review. Just the flight!
I’ve watched loads but there’s always more. & I found a vid of a guy flying through a train tunnel and around a windmill etc that was the best fpv flight handling I’ve seen, but I mustn’t have subbed and haven’t been able to find it since. Cheers for anyone who replies, and thanks to the guy doing this vid as it’s a really good, short & ‘straight to the point’ bit of advice and explanation.
Leave it to DJI to implement the most expensive FPV camera setup with a digital camera and gimbal, then completely forget that in FPV we need some sort of camera protection - most expensive crash ever. lol
They let you replace the camera for $500 lol. Seems purposely done like this
@Dori Tos I just saw a test by Bardwell where he crashed one pretty lightly (in terms of FPV) and the arm broke on it. I think the gimbal may have also broke on it. Then there's the fact that absolutely everything on it is DJI: wanna try some new props, sorry, wanna try running kiss or betaflight, sorry, wanna use all your old 6S or 4S batteries, sorry. I can't believe how much they missed the mark after how well the goggles were received. This thing looks like a hideous, blobby, delicate toy.
They have a gimbal protector in the store that’s recommended with it, but yeah I wish it came with it
@@catonthecob99 I guess that's a start. Still, I can't help but think that these are way to fragile tip to tail, when compared to a typical FPV drone. If you watch Ummagawd crash test his latest lightweight 5 inch frame and you will see what I mean by actual durability. I have no doubt that they will sell tons of them, though.

The more weight the less flight time. Custom build is the way to go. The dji fpv drone is a joke and a wallet grab. They literally had design teams come together and design it to break easily and then made everything proprietary and expect you to send it to them to fix it.. lmao. Basically if you are stupid and like wasting money this will be right up your alley.

I buy it and its nearly ready to go. I do believe aftermarket parts will appear No doubt and it will be just as upgradeable as anything else. Already hearing about new Antennas and New Batteries. But meh, Just buy multiple batteries.

@@gregdonkey9328 A lot of people enjoy a hobby without being able to put lots of time into it and something like this works for them. Nothing wrong with that. Someone who is really into a hobby can always do better on price and performance than a casual user- and that too is part of the fun of really being into something.
