His retirement still baffles me. He's just 67. Still young. He doesn't have to tour like he has in the past, but a few shows in small venues over a few nights a couple of times a year seems doable. The road goes on forever and the party never ends.
I saw him a couple of years ago and he phoned it in, it was so boring i literally fell asleep. Thats why he is retiring. he is bored playing the same songs for 40 years.
I first saw REK on a whim at a small club in Birmingham, AL in... 2005?. It was a great show that led me buy the ACL Live album, then... everything else not long after that, and I'm not a country music fan.
I started listening to REK when I was a freshman at TX Tech... circa 1983... he was not famous at all at that time... No Kinda Dancer had not hit the shelves. When the album came out, I played it for everyone... many just didn't "get it" and that saddened me. But... I knew one day he'd be The Man! At Tech, we've got Pat Green... and I like Pat Green... but we'd trade you Aggies Pat for REK and we'd even throw in Mac Davis.
Beautiful... Im an ole Volunteer but heck yeah i will always remember the Alamo.. We stood together once and i wholeheartedly believe we'd do it again.. God bless Texas but save a little for Tennessee too.. ✌️🙏☝️
did not see him live, only discovered Earl a few years ago, thought he was in early 20's 'til I saw him, awesome songs!!!
Thank you for all the music, for all of these years!

Saw him in Portland Maine on his final tour. Best show ever. Robert is the man.
Had the pleasure of seeing him about 20 times since ‘95, and visiting with him after a few shows. He’s made Aggies proud. Such a great talent.
