"Back when Orcs didn't have feelings, they had axes and muscles"
And bad temper
They had feelings.
Rage is a feeling.
@@lightworker2956bloodlust too
And hunger too... Wow, the orc culture is so rich!
When the Orcs invaded Draenor, massacred the Draenei, and paved the Path of Glory with the skeletons of dead Draenei before opening the Dark Portal by sacrificing the souls of thousands of Draenei prisoners… now we got gay frogs.
My goodness gracious the sheer nostalgia. Warcraft II, Red Alert 1, Age of Empires 1, Heroes of Might & Magic II, Starcraft 1 : My dearest brethren & sisters of the golden 90s age, where you at?
They are hiding like Solid Snake!
it's soul crushing to me that RTS has fallen so much out of popularity in the current day.

HOMM3 & Command & Conquer would swap Red Alert & HOMM2 but that's just cuz it's what we had lol i spent many hours grinding all these games out
That art for the campaign selections was CLASSIC Chris Metzen. So punk rock and grungy. That was the 90s. There's a reason us 90s kids loved the look of the old 90s X-Men, Spider-Man and Warcraft
90s art, especially Spider-man and the X-men, was a very mixed bag.
Batman beyond went hard
I LOVE chris' art
Warcraft 2, Diablo 2 and Starcraft were the best blizzard games for me, back when Blizzard was awesome. Ever since they went full 3d (though the very beiginning of wow was cool) they just have never been the same and progressively got far far worse over time whereas now they aren't even the same company in any way, as far as I'm concerned they are defunct and have been for quite some time.
Don't forget Pogs, and early 2000s Crazy Bones. Man, those were good days...
Ultima Online, Diablo, Warcraft 2, StarCraft and Age of Empire 1 & 2, Command & Conquer, Sim City and the first Sims game.. Those were my jams during that time period
The first Doom as well
100%
Oh man I spent so much time on Ultima Online. I always wondered what happened to all my boys in Visolara on Atlantic server.
Sim City dropped in 1989 so it was quite a bit earlier than the rest. Sim City 2000 fits the timeline better.
The golden age of gaming
In Warcraft 4 Orcs are free to come and will receive money to stay doing nothing in Lordaeron. When they make trouble and someone is complaining about it they will use their ability "call out racial injustice" and they will get even more money
dustborn devs are available, right?
Use build wall and make the Orcs pay for it.
And then Lord Garithos becomes the King and makes Azroth great again.
Lmao
Work work gets a whol different meaning like that 😂
It's 1997.
I managed to get the day off school by complaining about my arm hurting.
Mum has gone to work leaving me alone at home.
The fridge is full of Pepsi Max.
Life is good.

Heaven... I'm in Heavennnn
Damn, I was an infant back in 1997. I bet the world went crazy when Warcraft 3 got released.
Messed up. Diarrhea is the best. Only have to fake it for a brief window. Can't make the car ride to school, don't have to pretend you're sick later. Cleared up by like 10am! Such a shame I had to miss a whole day of school and play Goldeneye on N64.

My mom always heard me talk about World of Warcraft to my firends, so one day after school she surprises me with this game, thinking it was WoW. I wasnt even mad. I played the shit out of this game. I only had internet at my dads house anyway. 🤷♂
I like this story!
Momma unknowingly turned a common L into the biggest of W's. Go mom!
I only logged in to this account to reply to your comment. Because my mom did the exact same thing with Warcraft 3: RoC and Frozen Throne when i was 8. I was so pissed when i realised it wasn't WoW.
But then i played both games and my god i loved the franchise ever since
I'm surprised you as a kid knew what was WoW and what wasn't. I thought Warcraft was WoW, I had no idea what WoW was. I just knew people liked that one more.
My step dad did that once not knowing his roman numerals, he meant to get me and my brother Final Fantasy X, but instead got us VIII, we where gratefully anyway but he beat himself up over it for hours.
Back in the day I got the "Warcraft Battle chest". A big box that included WC 1 & 2 + the expansion set. Still the crowned jewel of my collection.
I found one of those at value village a few years ago. I will play through WC 1 soon. playing my original copy of WC 2 at the moment. It still holds up
Warcraft 2 was an addiction. I remember me and the boys pirating a version of it to school computers back in 2002. We would always stay to 'study' in the computer lab after school.
are u me lol? I got hooked playing at lunchtime at high-school in a computer lab
Someone installed unreal onto all the library computers and we had a full library death matches for a few days lol
I love the exaggerated accent in these games. Really takes me back. I remember my dad getting a kick out of the peons saying “yes milord”. And the fun from clicking a unit repeatedly to get them to say their funny lines. I still have my big box games for warcraft 1, 2, and the portal expansion.
It's racist and the wokes say you shouldn't have fun.
This game is very special to me. It was a game I played with my dad, who was in a wheel chair with only 1 functional hand.. to see him operate a PS1 controller like a pro with one hand and beat the whole campaign was freaking amazing to me and he was like a hero... As much as I dislike Blizzard and dont want to support them in any way going forward... MAN do I have to break my rule and get this game for my dads sake.
Damn PS1 controller with one hand is goat.

If it makes you happy, buy it! Buy it for the memories and don’t even give blizzard a thought. I hope it puts a giant smile on your face if you do decide to get it! Life is too short to not do the things you want to do because of some corporate bull.
I played this as a kid but didn't like it much because I played WC3 first lol
Can always buy the gog version too although that is not a remaster
I absolutely love to this day the details the devs put into this game. For example the snow on the buildings roofs on winter maps, and the icons for "Attack" and "Defend" that changed to cooler looking weapons and armor as you upgrade them. Starcraft didn't have any of that, for example, despite being an all-time great game.
but... this is a remastered... not the available version. wtf is this ?

blizzard - $12 for hd graphics. they didn't even improve sound quality. 💀
modders - $0 for remake of wc2 orc campaign on wc3 engine, with custom cutscenes, more story telling, full voice acting etc.
pathetic.
"HD graphics" implies it's actually HD.
They just put a super-sampling filter over everything and called it a day like the lazy hacks they are.
You can tell who did it out of love and who did it just for the paycheck.
"Improve sound quality"??????????????? Lol. You couldn't improve WC2 sound quality if you tried. They ruined Reforged sounds so it was extremely smart to leave WC2 alone in that regard.
It's almost as if one categorically works for free, and the other has bills to pay.
I hate wc3 pathing so much.
13:00 I've always loved how the elves in this game sound like they're ready to gut you at a moment's notice
Remember when Warcraft was a gothic fantasy setting, and orcs were just savage but-kinda-dumb muscular 6'6" dudes and the humans were disciplined with armour and training so it made sense they could defeat the orcs? But now the orcs are the size of cars and humans are just the punching bag of the franchise.
Feels sad man, what we lost.
Not really, Humans in Warcraft fantasy are some of the strongest humans in fantasy, worlds strongest man wouldn’t stand a chance against a Peasant lol, Warcraft humans are basically super humans
The Warcraft you are talking about was here 30 years ago, last time when expansion to War2 came out. It's long time gone now.
I miss games in such settings too. Have you ever played Disciples 1 and 2? These games had a great and dark style. Now Disciples is dead too.

The world was so much better back then, and hopeful for the future. As a history major in college when I and my friends played this in the late 90s, I did see a lot of what has transpired since coming. No one wanted to talk about it though. I was "harshing their mellow". I used to be bitter about this, but now I understand I think. They subconsciously knew (some of them anyway) what I knew on the surface, that the good times wouldn't last and they just wanted to enjoy the good times while they was still there.
Every generation says this. When you were young things were better, now that you are old, they are worse.
I'm from this generation but my only Blizzard games were D1 & D2. I'm a social-commentary Andy.
I can tell you, in only 10 minutes, that this was indeed the very height of gaming of the era. DOOM - '93. TIE Fighter - '94. WC2 - '95. Dawn of War wouldn't be for almost ten years after this.
Blizzard was always peak though and everyone knew it, even if you didn't like tactical stuff. So it's not like I didn't think about it. To nerd gamers, Warcraft was a household name before WoW.
In Warcraft 1/2 years, the fantasy art aesthetics was on its peak. The modern slop is nothing but a joke compared to the good old times.
YES!
The attention to detail is next level!
2024 and Veilgiard is considered Dark Fantasy OMEGALUL
Remember how disappointed I was seeing the cartoony graphics of w3, only then to realise that this was a thing for blizzard to go forward
Warcraft in the 90s felt like LOTR but everybody is built like Arnold. Modern wow feels like dievant art and tumblr morphed together. It’s safe, smooth and Roblox bulky in style.
Imagine you're an 8 year old kid in the 90's. All you've ever known at this point, as far as video games go, are Mario, Sonic, Kirby, maybe Street Fighter (which your parents disapprove of because violence)... You know, relatively cute, kid-friendly stuff. One day, you go spend your very first allowance for one of those PC gaming magazines that had the demo CDs (and sometimes even an older game) in the front. You rifle through the demos and then you install the demo for Warcraft 2... Your first "grown-up" strategy experience. Deep story, war and violence, the "Urrrrgh!!!" sounds of the orcs dying burns into your memory. The music!! Oh god, the music!!!! You sit there, slack-jawed because you didn't know that games were even allowed to do that!! Who cares about rings or mushrooms!? You're now a soldier on the frontlines. I must have played that demo dozens of times until I saved enough to buy the full game, which I then proceeded to sink thousands of hours into over the years.
And my journey and eternal love with video games pretty much began there because it broadened my horizon like you wouldn't believe. One of the most transformative experiences of my life. Even now, when Asmon booted up the game and I heard the intro song, I had to stop what I was doing with happy tears in my eyes. These were games made with love and with a vision for what gaming could be. Games like that are still out there, but one has to really look. I can't imagine anybody having the same reaction with shit like Veilguard, but maybe I'm wrong.
For me it was like 4th grade music class. There were like 4 or 5 kids in the class. We would watch a short video on music then screwed around on the computers for the rest of class. And on the computer was Warcraft 2. I was like what is this? And then proceeded to have my mind was blown. It was the second computer game I ever played. The first was Diablo 2 which my aunt introduced me to like a year before. All I had before that was stuff like crash bandicoot, ratchet and clank and spiderman 2. So I really relate haha.
for me it was starcraft demo when i clicked on first marines !
I wish I knew gamers like this IRL. I swear... people that get it, get it. It's a special experience we all share. PC Gamer FOR LIFE!
Swords and Sorcery! It had Warcraft II, Blood and Magic, and Heroes of Might and Magic II, still three of my favorites.
I had a very similar thing with demo disc that came with a PC magazine but it had Warcraft 3 on it. I played it it loved it. Soon as I was able I got full copy of the game. Still ranks joint best game of all time for me.
The music! The VOICE LINES!! The nostalgia is too much! Red alert next??

Warcraft 3 was my childhood. Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne.
As a child, I always thought the quests would go on FOREVER. So when I realized finally completed the whole game, I felt empty for weeks 😢
I remember the cannons coming out of the keep as a kid and just losing it with how cool this looked.
God I loved this game. The Expansion took it to a whole next level which paved the way for WC3's heroes.
Good stuff.
cant believe it took the remaster for asmon to learn about blowing up critters.
the shockwave it caused on War3 was an amazing surprise when that released
I remember when 9 year old me managed to convince my dad to buy WC2: Tides of Darkness back in 1996. We had to drive to a neighbouring (and ironically, smaller) town because no retailers in town where we lived had the game at the time. Amazing game for its day.
I was 11 when this came out. I remember my dad bought a copy of Mac Magazine and it had the Demo for this on it. I played the hell out of it on our Quadra 660av. We got the game and the whole family was addicted, we'd all take turns playing missions. It was soo fun! I was also obsessed with the artwork that came in the manual. I remember taking it with me on the school bus ride so I could read the snippets of lore over and over. Was a simpler time and I miss it. Thank you for playing this, was a such a rush of member berries.
Remember how in the 90's, PC game magazines came with CD's in them? This was my first Warcraft game that I played, and I think it was from one of those CD's. Must've been a demo of it or something. I'm gonna have to buy this for the memories.
That was how I first encountered the AoE 2 demo (Chip magazine).
So that it doesn't get lost in all this commotion, War2 is also there. It's part of this battle chest, or you can get it separately (also on GOG). Remasters actually do add a few things that became more standard after the first two Warcrafts came out, like increased size of control groups, and wouldn't be surprised if they add few other things. Point being, you want actual pure OG experience, it's also there and that's what's important.
I want to ask about the remaster since i don't have pc to play it was it good or bad
WHAT IS IT
I fucking loved Warcraft II so much. I used to spend hours in the map editor spawning deathwings errywhere
It's '94, I powered up my 486, scrolling on norton commander ( an interfaces over DOS ), opend the folder Games - and there it was WarCraft I Orcs & Humans !!!
My childhood game ! I love that game, I played it for years - much better than Dune II ....
nc was so good :)
I remember when I was maybe 6 or something, my dad used to turn on his really old laptop, then play original Warcraft for few hours straight. I was watching him playing and occasionally giving him suggestions, asking for his strategy, etc. Since I was "too young to play video games", I was then drawing my own maps, and strategies on paper. That exact game started my love for the RTS genre.
10:35 can't you see, he's the man, let me hear you applause...
I played Warcraft 2 all the time as a kid. It was the first game I played multiplayer over the internet using a dial up modem to modem connection. Like I had to dial up my buddies phone number to make it work. And I have to admit I don’t remember that opening cinematic at all!
This was my very first windows game. I would just carve pathways thru the trees for hours, even if the mission was done. I thought the visuals were on par with real life. I used to have to call my cousins house phone, make sure no one answered, then our 56k dial up modems would connect. Oh the memories 😢
Warcraft 2 tides of darkness was also my very first introduction. My first rts. I didn't have internet at the time, so I spent much of my time with the map editor alot & playing the game with and w/o cheat code phrases.
So gonna get this next week.
Warcraft 1 was rough compared to Warcraft 2. It did not age well even in 90-es.

Huge fan of Warcraft 3. It's amazing how much that game progressed from 2-3. Both are good, but wow.
Yeah, wc3 was a huge step forward.
Actually many WR2 fans didn't like WR3 when it came out. They said it looked too childish and specially didn't like the care bare orcs. In Warcraft 1 and 2 orc where brutal but in WR3 they where good guys. I myself didn't care it that much and i liked and played WR3 the most.

WarCraft II was my first RTS. I was introduced to this game when I was 5 because my late dad tends to bring home his old Siemens laptop that ran the DOS version when he comes home from work during that time.
This game and StarCraft was also our bonding time when I was young; he'd control the units while I suggest what would be the unit lineup - I often point at the Elven Archer in the Barracks as they quickly became my favorite units in the game. I remember being blown away by how the cannons came out of the wall at different speeds. I can't stress how amazing and cutting edge those cgi intros were at the time. I spent years playing this game and introducing friends and family to them.
Dude! So glad to see you playing this! I play StarCraft 2 with my kids and was thinking about getting them into playing this as well.
It's so greedy and despicable that they don't just give this update free to anyone who've got the game, but instead you have to buy the game instead. That's crazy.
God for I’d you spend ten dollars for a game you’ll spend hours playing
@@awesome220 I already have the game. I bought it like the year 2000... why should I have to buy it again? Sickening greed to not even show appriciation for their supporters throughout the year.. can''t even give a texture update for free to theiir fans.
Never thought I'd see the day Asmondgold would play Age of Empires, could of sword he said he didn't like it
This is wild
3:51 FOR REAL!
*Loading up old games brings back memories* ⏳
Its crazy how this game looked exact same back in the day whenever you first played it, remasters like this are amazing.
Lol. I was screaming at the screen for your navy to support from the beach and pull the ogres into fire!! You had enough there but you need to use your units in combination or switch to orc with those brute force tactics!! 😀👌
You need to play this more man, it was so much fun to see.
I remember when I was a kid I used to take a bath and pretend the soap dish was a boat and would thrash around to make waves and stuff while humming the Warcraft 2 soundtrack.
man i remember when this came out and how much i played then when wc3 came out and how hyped it was. I miss those days
Ive recently replayed W3 god I wish they made a 4th and just continued with the strategy games, or make a 1st/3rd person offline RPG, or an Isometric RPG ala Pathfinder etc
Wow kinda destroyed the lore. Everyone of importance has been killed off by raiding looters.
