Dear Zack, your Story is so amazing, really, but the most heartwarming feels i had, when you told about your Mom, she must have been such an amazing Mom and Person. I began play WOW in 2011, shortly before Pandaria was released, when i met my real Love and Partner. Before i never had played, and i got hooked right on. And the first time, i ran through Orgrimmar it was a complete new World to me and i liked it right away.

I used to play TBC with my dad when i was 8, we both had trial accounts and I came across this one guy that was also Dutch, so i followed him which was my first encounter with people in the game. The first time I ever played WoW was one of the best times in my gaming history, even though i didn’t quite understand the point of the game, sometimes my sister even hopped on with me and this one time I knew i was about to ding to lvl 5 and I was so proud of that that I got my mom to show her and she was so excited for me. I didn’t know what i was doing but I was having a blast, later my dad and I both got a subscription (he bought it for me) and I remember that I played WOTLK a few years later damn this game has taught me so much, especially english, forever grateful for WoW. It just brings people together, made lots of friends and i’ll forever have memories about those days that i’ll cherish and I will never forget those❤️

Dude all the deaths and tears in that game, all the ganging upon me the first fly mount... Nowadays TBC is just reminding me of the pure and amazing game it used to be when I was a kid.

We killed Swifty, doing it and then all created gnomes with Swifty in the name and mobbed Iron Forge. There are days I want to go back to WoW but I dont know if I could play anymore, and a lot has changed. PS I love that your mom played with you!
2:48 This picture is amazing. I can't help but get in my feels looking at this picture. There's something so perfect about it, so poetic and incredible. Everything about this picture is incredible.
Look at the way the light shines in the center of the picture, highlighting Zack and his mom. How was this captured? It's so beautiful it brings tears almost.. These are the kinds of pictures you cherish for the rest of your life. I don't know her situation (is she disabled?) but there is truly something gentle and special about their bond. It's hard to fathom the power this photo holds for Zack and his mom. Look how emotional it is for us viewers. This was taken in 2006, 15 years ago. They can look at this and remember everything they were doing that day and during 2006. It's majestic. 😃💖
It reminded me of just how fucked Blizzard has been as a gaming company. Asmongold talks about how those of us that achieved Grand Marshall/High Warlord in OG Vanilla WoW were “gods...” I got HWL back then myself, in 2005. I led a team everyday for months on end, and it was the biggest time-suck and required dedication ever out of every game I’ve ever played in my life. I had a blast doing it, but it was essentially a full-time job without getting paid, and instead paying a monthly subscription for it lmfao. In the last couple of months on that grind, I barely slept at all. And in the last 2 weeks, I even needed a friend to play my toon for a few hours when I did sleep/shower, or else I wouldn’t be able to get rank 14. This was because the random solo fux that refused to play with us on the server teams and instead would pay real world money for foreign pvp farmers to earn the title for them. If we didn’t have a friend play our toon a bit at that point, the solo fux would halt our progression when it was our individual turn to get top rank (after the many months long grind we had put in, where we were always watching our progress closely so we wouldn’t screw over teammates that were ahead of us in working for top rank). And then what did Blizzard do? Made all that time and dedication and teamwork be for _NOTHING_ with the first expansion (TBC). Raising the level cap from 60-70made our hard-earned gear be for nothing! And then, to rub salt in the wound, they made it so everyone and their mother could get high end pvp gear and earn the top tier pvp titles. Like, everyone started walking around with my HWL title, akin to when the millennial generation all started getting trophies in school so “nobody would feel bad for losing.” Fuck that shit! I stuck around for a little bit, but essentially only used my main to be an auction house addict/farm up gold essentially, making lvl 19 alts I’d gear the hell up to do pvp on them, wrecking people. I wasn’t going to waste anymore time grinding for _ANYTHING,_ as Blizzard showed they had *NO* respect for the blood, sweat, and tears we put in for shit that took a ridiculous amount of time and commitment/dedication to earn. I maybe played a month tops of the third expansion and left for good. For me, they totally ruined what was my favorite game of all time there for awhile.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Blizzard didn't do anything wrong there. What did you expect exactly? That your gear was just going to be the best for all time? Every single game goes through level cap increases and every time they need to add better gear or else people will stop having things to work toward. It's just how it works. It's unfortunate but you're in the very low percent of players to cater to and you can't expect them to bend around what you want like that, it's bad for the company that way. Your teamwork meant something and you accomplished what lots of people would be jealous of. You should be proud of your achievements but you can't expect it to stay that way forever. Times change, and you holding this big of a grudge over it is a little overboard. Wish you the best man
@@FuriousFiveMonkey I like how you are talking about vanilla WoW when I played as if it came out a year ago or something, with a litany of mega-populated MMORPGs behind it. There was no standard of *“THIS IS HOW THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, BECAUSE THIS IS HOW MMORPGs ALWAYS ARE”* back then. WoW _SET STANDARDS._ There was only a couple other small MMORPGs before WoW (like Everquest) and that was it - hardly anyone was playing those games compared to how huge WoW became overnight. There was many options that Blizzard could have chosen to show damn respect to their customers who spent as much time and dedication to achieve the hardest goals Blizzard offered, yet they decided to give the finger to _ALL OF THEM._ I’m not the one with a screwed up head over it - that would be Blizzard and those that excuse their BS. Blizzard is simply a greedy company that doesn’t respect it’s customers, period. They really thought that they can just eff people over like that to such a huge extent and they’ll continue to stick around. The world doesn’t work like that. I was happy to give my money and time to other games/developers instead. They took their most dedicated customer base for granted is what it comes down to. I wasn’t surprised at all when I heard how gross things were for employees working at Blizzard behind the scenes. They’re a bunch of jerkoffs in a litany of ways.
Asmon's mom reminds me of this lady I've played with and met since vanilla in 2005. She always had gold and knew how to make it. I remember one time she had the item to get the one of the dragon mount in Pandaria. So she made a pay group then invited me for the last slot. After we finished and everyone got the mount, she gave me all the gold she got from them. I was shocked. It was the most gold I've ever had. I was just happy to get the mount but she gave me all the gold.
Because it's some dude flexing about him, his mom and buddies playing a video game, stealing items and making other player's experience miserable. No direction, no interesting screenplay, no meaningful dialogues, no action sequences, no pacing, no mystery to uncover, no original score, the only thing that this video shares with a good movie are relatable characters, since we've all played this game at some point.
I was in U.S. as a graduate student during the release of WLK. I spent time playing, and I have real memories of my experiences in the game. Who is to say what's real and what is pure fantasy? Isn't "real" life full of forced accomplishments and vanity? WoW, in my humble impression can be very real, it's a World! A world! I was never in a raid. I was always alone. I didn't understand the social subtleties of social interaction within the game. Whowever I can relate to the amazing human narrative you shared in this video. I bow to your greatness as a human and as a mythological member of The World of War Craft. It makes wonder that "reality" is at the end what one choses it to be. Thanks for the enlightenment you have provided me.
Only 39 minutes into the video but this is actually really wholesome. Edit: I know it would be impossible to track the people down but I would love to see a semi-documentary of the people who had interacted with Asmongold over the years. Especially over the vanilla and The Burning Crusade years.

None of my friends growing up had a PC and none of them liked how much a nerd I was. I loved WoW, The Sims online, Motorcity online, and final fantasy online. They were all playing Cod. I wish I knew people like this growing up lol. The fact you recorded and took screenshots in 2007 and beyond is bonkers. You have definitely taken the title of Favorite Gamer. Shout out to your mom 🐐. Thanks for making this video. Literally took me back to my childhood and remembering game install waiting time, camping outside stores for midnight releases. Truely a different way of living.
I'll be honest, Asmongold's mom has got to be one of the coolest people ever. She's elderly, but she plays World of Warcraft, is fantastic at a part of the game most don't think about but makes her astoundingly helpful, she's generous in helping her friends and family, AND she's got the spunk to cuss out her son when he's being a twit. I can never blame Zack/Asmongold for staying with her and taking care of her all this time. She really is an amazing person.
Also, Asmon let's her buy all the stuff she wants with his money. I bet she never expected him to become so successful as a streamer a few years later. What a crazy life those two have!
I find it amazing that he thought of taking these screenshots at the time of playing. I always thought screenshots are more art thing rather than documentation. But this is brilliant.
The fact all those screenshots and videos etc were worth capturing and remembering speaks volumes about how good games were back then, especially WoW. Good times.
To the final question of the video, did I like the story? Yeah man, plenty of good memories from the era of my life, playing BC with friends, raiding Karazhan, etc. And you told it well!
My personal story is very similar to Asmon's. Starting as a nobody, an awful player & complete noob, to ending in Sunwell, as a server legend. I knew everyone and I had so many friends. Those were truly the glory days. I think back sometimes and wonder where my old friends & guildies are today. Spending months in Kara, to finally having it on farm. I could go my entire life without ever stepping back in there. I am STILL burned out to this day. Kara PTSD. Another few months trying to kill Lady Vashj in SSC. So many months in BT and then finally Sunwell. Man, I miss those times. I know BC Classic won't recapture any of this because we have the game figured out, but damn... what a time it was being a 17 year old playing BC all day and making excuses to my RL friends why I couldn't party tonight.
Dude, I always wondered what the significance of taking screenshots while playing games. this is the significance. great story. I wish i took screenshots of my ffxiv adventures so that i could do the same thing.

Nowadays TBC is just reminding me of the pure and amazing game it used to be when I was a kid.
To some people, World of Warcraft was a game. To Asmongold, World of Warcraft, was life.
This brings back so many memories... I have horrible memory lost do to a head trauma. I remember my 1st guild it was Silver Blades of Azeroth. I do have some great memories from years in WoW that I didn't lose. I played from the 3rd week after release till Legion. I was in labor with my daughter and was main tanking a raid, I main tanked all of BC an on for my guild. I was horde at one point, my guild did the for the horde. We killed Swifty, doing it and then all created gnomes with Swifty in the name and mobbed Iron Forge. There are days I want to go back to WoW but I dont know if I could play anymore, and a lot has changed. PS I love that your mom played with you!

It reminded me of just how fucked Blizzard has been as a gaming company. Asmongold talks about how those of us that achieved Grand Marshall/High Warlord in OG Vanilla WoW were “gods...”
I got HWL back then myself, in 2005.
Like, everyone started walking around with my HWL title, akin to when the millennial generation all started getting trophies in school so “nobody would feel bad for losing.”
Fuck that shit!
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 Dude you need to chill out a bit.

I like how you are talking about vanilla WoW when I played as if it came out a year ago or something, with a litany of mega-populated MMORPGs behind it.
I love how close you and your mother where. She seemed like a great mother!
Asmon's mother is incredible. Very involved with his passions and dedicating time to understand them.
