Evonne hang in there, I felt the tug at your heart for not finishing, it is part of the process, you have anothr chance to finish it. Well done guys for the videos, gravel is a good ride. Keep it strong, we are rooting for you.
I really appreciate this channel and go to it for inspiration. Doing my very first official gravel event in Decorah this weekend and am getting more intimidated by the day. And this ride is only 50 km with 2,700 feet of climbing. I've ridden over 800 miles since July 10th, but will be happy if I can just finish this ride in Decorah.
Thank you for the kind words and tuning in. I bet you will dominate your event. Just remember forward progress even if it’s just walk up those darn hills. Would love to hear how your event goes.
@iowagravelgang Great video but what happened to your friend who was riding the 300 mile route? Is she still in the garage? Were you able to finish the 150 mile route? I did the Privateer 75 mile...actually 78 mile...route. It was really tough. The first 12 miles was soupy mud. At roughly Mile 36, it was impossible to ride through the mud. We carried and drug our bikes for a mile and then had to battle getting mud out of our pedals and shoe clips.
Unfortunately, Evonne wasn't able to finish the 300 nor did I finish the 150. The day was harder than the training we came with. Looks like you successfully tamed the rather hard race on the day. I bet the mud didn't make things easy. Thank you for watching!
@@iowagravelgrinder I told people that I had PTSD after doing the 75 mile route...maybe an exaggeration, but it was tough. Hope to see you in Lincoln next year.
Which pedals do you use on your gravel bike? I have SHIMANO PD-EH500 SPD Flat Dual's on my Trek Hybrid but just bought a gravel bike and wanted to know a good pair of SPD pedals for races? Thank you very much in advance.
So stoked for you on that gravel bike. I don’t use Spd anymore. I use crank Brothers candy 3 on my gravel bike and on the mountain bike the Crank Brothers DH mallets. They’re excellent on mud clearance and super fast clipping in.
@@iowagravelgrinder I picked up the Specialized Diverge. Going to sign up for the Castell Grind and of course the Gravel Locos. Looking for a third event. Already started training for next year. Phase 1...DROP WEIGHT
@@iowagravelgrinder I had done the 157 this year. It was an incredibly great event, vibe and route. I think next year I’ll be still looking for new events. Any other events for you that you are planning next year? Think you will be at BWR next week?
Appreciate you so much!! Thanks for sharing your talents and capturing Gravel Worlds. Can’t thank you enough!
Thanks for watching and putting on an amazing gravel experience for us. We love your event.

It was a tough day for our team but we will train and conquer it next year. Thank you for watching!
Great video. It was a tough day!!
Thank you! Training hard for the next one

How. did you first official gravel event go in Decorah?
Another awesome video! It great seeing you and Evonne again. And thanks for letting me take a shower in the rv.😂
Juan, always fun hanging with you. Thanks for not using up all my water😂. We will see you in Stillwater.
My number was lucky when I got it, but unfortunately my luck didn’t last for 300 miles lol😂
Sometimes we don’t win, I’m sure you will dominate your next event.
I was worried that you were still in the garage. I wondered what the 300 milers did in the rain.
You’re the best!! See you next year for some redemption!!
Thank you! I will be back, ready to conquer those gravel seas.
