Maybe not the best intro for me to watch the night before my first gravel race which also happens to be a UCI Gravel World Series. Our race course will be easier so I guess bigger groups and more contact. :) Top video!
@@jasperverkuijl the race was amazing. First 3k was flat on asphalt with 400 participants so it was tight like a road race going to a key sector. After the first hill it split up but our group was 150 people until 60k when the climbs came one after another. I always stayed near the front of our bunch so I had no problems. The 3 hour and 51 minutes of my race is on my TH-cam channel. 😉
If the clutch in the derailleur is not enough there should be a way to mount a small chainguard instead of front derailleur. U r gonna stay with the same bike weight if u take off the ringbell from the handlebar ;)
Super race report! thumbs up! I wish more people could watch this who isn't onto cycling to understand what cycling is all about...so many things happen all the time for the guys in the race...
You are dancing with the best Riders in the world. I'm proud of you because they train and live for that and you have to do a lot of thing to ride a bike. It's ok to be there. Greetings from Mallorca ✨
Insain good stuff, Great montage of inside the race, with the pros, pushing 500 to 1000 watts on demande, Top level handeling skills, full gaz, and you keep it funny and documentary with re-live comments. 🤘🤘🤘
Same remarks after UCI Gravel Series stage in Poland. Comparing to a year ago competition increased more than double by quantity and by strength of field.
Knap kerel! Zonder alle support onderweg die de pros hebben moet je best wat meer mee zeulen, de trainingsmogelijkheden en de gearopties van de pros zijn ook nog eens groter en beter dus dikke props!
I hardly use them. Only on very very bumpy downhill sections that require braking. On the hoods is more aero and give more flexibility in position. When it’s very bumpy I need the extra available grip of the drops not to slide off the hoods.
2:00 Okay, so here we've got Restrap top tube, Bontrager stem with the mount, E530/E830 and also my Supacaz bar tape as well.. 😁 Same front look on my gravel bike 💪
if youm drop your chain sttop pedaling immediately. overshift to the opposite side of where the chain is. slowly begin pedaling until you feel the chain catch. it works foe most of the time.
Heard that pros take sugar every 20 min. You need to adjust your strategy if your 100 per hour isn’t working. Do it on the fly, bring double of what you need in case.
F#@ckin awesome man! You did this with a bell on your handlebars and a top tube bag!!! 😂 I bet the "pros" didn't have those on their bikes! How can you keep pushing that kind of effort over that distance? It's crazy! I mean on the road, in a large group, it's easy, you almost get dragged along. But off-road on small narrow trails and single track it's just constant pressure on the pedals. What was your average power for the ride? 350watts? Top effort mate 👍
They don’t have a bell or top tube, neither do they have a camera and film the entire race 🤪🤪😜 Yeah averages go in direction of 340-350. It’s pretty crazy. 450-500 on the climbs easy

Thanks!!!
Pls share it around when you like it 🙏🏻
Oh man, what a race! You're a legend, Jasper - crazy to go into the mix with pros...
🙏🏻🙏🏻
That was nuts, the descending in groups so quickly if someone makes a mistake.... But congrats for qualifying in such strong company.
Yep, it would be a massive pile up
My gravel experience is: don't shift on the bumpy downhills! Great video, really putting us in the middle of the action....
In this case the chain didn’t drop while shifting but just from bumps 😩
Thanks! That’s what my videos are all about 💪🏻💪🏻
Congrats on qualifying! Excellent video as always, enjoy the perspective of the race with all the stats on the screen. 😃
🙏🏻
Much respect for your level of racing. Videos awesome and informative as always. Keep it up!
This is an adrenaline rush just by watching it. I can't imagine being there. Wow! 👏🏻
It was full goasssss
Looked absolutely nuts - I was out of breathe just watching!
This video made my day brighter, thanks and congrats Jasper!!

Hi Jasper, thanks for sharing. Really amazing stuff! Keep it up
You’re welcome! Thanks mate
That looked super fun! At least you learned to always ride with the clutch on. Next time will be even better.
Yeah it was fun!
Well the clutch does decrease the shifting so only when it’s needed I’ll turn it on
Great job, Jasper! Inspired video, really enjoyed watching it.

Massive effort especially coming back from your illness. That could also be one of your best produced vids also.
This was well before my illness. This was right after Mallorca cycling camp in April
Amazeballs! Riding with the pros. Nice!

7:30 no hands in this situation, you wot m8.
Yeah I thought that was a bit on the edge too. Even for a guy that has worn the Tour de France yellow jersey 🤷🏼♂️🤪
I really like the way you had a bell on your bike so you could warn the pro's you were going to overtake them. 😊
Yeah man, ringing yhe bell all day long 😂😂🫣
Man for a solo participant of that race your very strong. Good job mate.

Yup. Great place to ride!
What width tires what tread pattern and how much PSI?
47mm terrano dry, 1.5/1.6 bar with inliners

More than 100 is hard to sustain for a long race unless you are used to it. (100 is already VERY high!)
Great job, Jasper!!!

So hows it work if you qualify for the world championships your are actually in the race with all the pros for the gravel championship of world?
No. Yhe actual worlds will have a elite category and an amateur category on age groups
What is the advantage of one-by? Flush the fashion and get a front derailier
Weight, less mechanical breakdown possibilities, more aero
Probably more

34th in a field full of supported professionals is pretty damn good.

Yes! I can ring instead of push people out of the way 🤪🤪🤪
