Thanks for the educational information on the bikes
Thanks for watching! I’m hope you found some use out of the video
best shop!
That makes two of us!
Thanks for the pointers! Great job Tyler!!
Thanks for watching, Tyler knocked it out of the park!!
That is a BEAUTIFUL bike Ryan made. He gave great insight and explanations. Obviously his time working on bikes and building bikes has given him a lot of expertise. Nice video!
Thanks for watching! I’m still working on convincing Ryan to make me one of those Ti bikes 😂
u can goto this link & c watt comes in the box, gettting started guides, which i read them all, but it needs a lot of concentration 2 digest. A couple of things i don't like, 1. i bought mine with SRAM red, yes, it came with, i can login using my sram login / password on dashboard & karoo app, but NOT on the head unit! Hence the system shows me as "unregistered." i'm not sure if its syncing with my desktop & app, but will look later 2. the system uses mapbox. They only give me 3 choices, gravel, pavement & trail. NO road!!! Watts more, mapbox does not have some streets & makes me do a loop-de-loop bec it doesn't recognise some roads, maybe bec i live in "malaysia, brunei & singapore" which are too small 4 them 2 accurately map support.hammerhead.io/hc/en-us
Great review of the new Checkpoint. I enjoy the content as Gravel Bikes are very popular. World of Bikes is a great shop and Ryan is an awesome Owner. Looking forward to more bike events and new products content!
Marty, thanks for watching mate! We will keep the content rolling. We plan on dropping a new video every week.
I saw the color of your bike on the trek website and hated it. Your bike looks like a totally different color and it's a great color scheme and you have a great set up. Thanks for the video.
Hey Scott, thank you for watching! I agree, the color pops in real life.
Nice job! I’m going in 2025 and this was a nice overview.
Thank you! It’s a rather fun race. I will be there as well.
This is awesome. I visited world of bikes from the UK only last month. I picked up my new cap and the guys were super friendly 👌
That's amazing, I'm happy to hear about the positive experience you had. How's the UK this winter season?
Welcome to the checkpoint club! Enjoy the miles!
Alex, we will have to get together and ride of some that Minnesota gravel on these Checkpoints.
Awesome, excited for some new content. Congrats
Thanks John, we will keep content rolling. Thanks for watching.
Nice job Eria - the hard work is paying off! Interested to see more bike/gear/tech reviews for us regular folks who enjoy gravel racing but won't be at the pointy-end of the races. I went to 165s for my cranks. Took some convincing but I'm very happy with them.
Brian, thanks for watching! We have a few bike gear and tech reviews lined up. Those 165s really do make a difference. I always preferred them on my MTB and wondered why I didn't switch sooner on the gravel bike.
That Trek bike look and color is so f*cking beautiful.
Agreed! I saw that color and knew it was the one! Thanks for watching.
Eria! I can’t wait to show you my SL7 . Still at the shop. Went 52 pie in the back. :) GX Eagle. Swapped my Bontrager Pro 3v’s on it and of course 47 Pathfinders and a Whiskey Spano. What are you doing with crank arms? Going 165? Cold in NJ my brother. I’ll text you and send you a pic when bike is ready.
Jose, the pie is the only way to go! I will be swapping for it before the season begins for sure, along with the transmission for maximum torque tolerance😁. Those pathfinders, you will be rolling. I ordered it with the 165 but they weren't in by the time I left for Big Sugar but now they're installed and I'm happy🤣. Iowa is down to the core cold as well. I'm looking forward to those pics of the Checkpoint mate!
Wow nice info about your bike and the bike shop. Looking forward to seeing you more in the races with the new sponsor, he seems a trusted innovation. Go on ahead brother.
That’s a good looking bike you’ve got there! I’d like a video highlighting e-bikes (cargo and/or non-cargo) for commuting.
Liz, maybe now I can kinda keep up with you. I like that idea on the e-bikes and cargo bikes e.t.c will make sure to plan those shoots.
Is it possible to put a Shimano drive train on that bike?
What’s Shimano 😂 you definitely can
Couldn’t have picked a better ambassador. Please do some how-to, maintenance, taping bars, the basics. Show setting tubeless maybe. Product testing like tires, tubes, bags etc would be great.
Thank you so much! I’m excited for this opportunity. We definitely have some videos lined up throughout the offseason. Thanks for watching
@@iowagravelgrinder SRAM for the win! You need to investigate how to pronounce SRAM. Inquiring minds want to know 😂

Nice video, bro. Good description on the gadgets. I'm looking forward to another ride.
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. More ride videos soon!
Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! Cheers from Iowa.
Nice video! You obviously take time to invest in good quality products. Thanks for taking the time to share
Thanks! I’m happy to share my favorite gear. Hopefully you found a few useful tips.
love riding trails with the drop bars! so fun.
I agree, I feel like it elevates the experience.
@ exactly! pun intended ? 🤣
Wax your bikes after washing
Without a doubt!
Love your content my friend! Inspired to enjoy my bikes more. Thanks for great videos
Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words!! I’m glad you enjoy the videos and that they inspire you to keep on shredding.
I’m running the SRAM Force AXS Transmission with a mullet set up and it great. The 40 in the front and 10 - 52 in the rear.
I love that setup, that mullet is the perfect setup for these gravel races and will be upgrading to that for sure!
Another great video. I got power for days 😂
Thanks Juan, always a rad timing hanging with you! You know, power for days🤣
I had so much fun! Will definitely be back
Yeah! Big Sugar is one of the best! Looking forward to another one. Glad you had a fun time.
Great. I liked the interviews while in the race.
I think it's cool to see how people are feeling in the thick of it! Thanks for watching!
Yes. Keep the good work and hope to see you one day at the Michigan Gravel Series.
I definitely want to check those out
I thought that was you! That’s me at the 19:00 mark in the blue jersey - I enjoyed talking to you! What a great event!
It was great chatting with you right before that single track. How was the rest of your ride? Definitely, a fun event that I hope to do again next year.
@@iowagravelgrinder a solid day on the bike. No mechanicals and only a few leg cramps towards the end. I need a bigger cassette for those hills! 😅
@@RyanKime I agree, the taller gear was getting harder to push towards the end. I need the 52 before next gravel season.
Great video. New subscriber to your channel. I'm doing my first gravel race next year all because of your videos. You inspired me to sign up for Mid South 2025. Keep up the great videos , brother. Hope to meet you one day.
Thank you so much! It means a lot and this is the whole reason I started this channel. I will be at Mid South next year. Hope we can run into each other there
What gravel tires do you recommend for mid south? I'm looking at the specialized pathfinder pro.
@ I’ve been happy with Rene Herse Oracle ridge 48 as well as the 55s. Both have done very well for me. My new bike has Bontrager Betasso in 50mm and those are really exceptional as well. If going for a faster rolling tire I would go with Betasso
Eria my brother! The vlog is great! Thanks for hanging out with the NJ crew! Be safe and stay in touch.
It was awesome hanging with the NJ crew, see you at the next one and stay safe brother!
I love that bike color
Thank you! I’ve been digging that color too
Sorry we missed you at sugar. Wife work got in the way of the weekend. Maybe next year. Love the bike, congrats. Great video as alway. Say hi to the wife for us as well. Later, Randy and Renee
Randy and Renee, I appreciate you watching! I’m sure we will see you two again. Sorry you couldn’t make this one.
Wow! That terrain looked crazy. Add in the shadows on the road, and it definitely looks tricky to keep the rubber side down. Thanks for taking us along on another adventure.
It was a wild ride for sure, and the shadows definitely didn't help!
Oh yeah, chipped my front tooth from the rock chatter !
@@fraji1 Oh shoot, sorry to hear! I hope all is good now! That course is different
Your videos just keep getting better and better :)
Barry! Thanks for watching:)
I appreciate you watching and the kind words!
The gravel bike has four batteries. SRAM AXS derailer, both shifters, and a Power2Max power meter. AXS battery gives me plenty of warning, but I always (ok, usually) carry a second one on bike. Power meter runs on a CR2450 battery, so not quite the ubiquitous 2032, but it also lasts a long time with fair warning. The shifters, honestly not sure what they use, but after 2000 miles and 18 months, their status lights are still green. What has been more of a problem is a few times my Garmin 1030 will end up not shutting down, then its dead when I go to ride.
Those shifter batteries are fantastic to last that long. Looking back, I think they've last that long on the gravel bike as well.
You killed it brother!! NICE!, awesome to see the race - thanks for sharing. ... and thanks for the tips at the end of the video, very helpful - if i ever get to ride the route, i really enjoy the MTB races you attend, being a MTBer 😆... cheers !
Thanks brother! I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. Definitely one of those races your should put on your radar.
Great Video! It was nice to meet you and talk to you and your friend at the event. First time racer/rider at Chequamegon. Had a great time on my fat bike.
Great meeting you as well! How would say your fat bike did on the course? Would you do it again on the fat bike?
@@iowagravelgrinder My fat bike did ok. My shoulders and wrists were sore for a day or two afterwards. I would do it again on my fattie but I would like to try it on a MTB with suspension next time! I do think the fatter tires did help on the hills providing some extra traction though.
Thanks brother for the content great riding.
Thank you for watching brother!
Thanks for the great video. My wife thinks I’m famous now. I’m Terry from Idaho we rode together on the first climb at sbt and I said I knew you from RPI.
Terry, I do remember that conversation but what I want to forget is that climb 🤣 it was a quick wake up call. You’re definitely internet famous now.
How does it compare to CORE4?
Honestly Chequamegon 40 is in a different league with just the sheer number of punchy climbs and the surface is just too unique.
Eria! Nice job brother see ya in Bentonville!
Thank you!! Take it easy on me in Bentonville 🤣
Makes me want to get a mtn bike. Looks like a totally fun course. Strong finish! You can tell the channel is growing by how many folks recognized you out there. I think it's the killer French toast content.
Thanks for supporting the channel and joining along on this ride. It was so good to see all the friends of the channel out there I bet you’re right, they really like that French toast 🤣
What brand flat bars do you have there in your bike?
I run the Bontrager Line Pro 35 Handlebar.
@iowagravelgrinder would you put these on a Kona dew all road bike? If your building it up gravelbike style?
Great video man! Lots of fun to watch - that is such a beautiful area. I did Cheq 5 times from 2012 - 2017. It's a hard race. I always hated the 28 MPH rollout on the highway, looks like they've changed that up a bit now though. I always enjoyed Firetower hill - I was typically in about 200th place when I got to that, so everyone at that pace is able to ride the hill, but nobody is trying to go hard like the really fast guys, so it was actually a bit of a recovery point for me. Which was good because the Birkie trail rollers after that was always the hardest part of the course. Good on you for doing it and taking video! Thanks for posting.
Wow, I would say you’re a veteran of the course. This certainly one I want to try and get to every year. I can’t imagine what I would feel like riding the whole fire tower, pains me to think about it. I thought that was the last of the tough climbs but the trail rollers are worthy contenders with that much work in the legs at the point in the race.
5th time there. We were in the same group all day playing leapfrog. I'm in the Red, White, and Blue Georgia jersey. Goal is always to be the pro women to the finish.
Absolutely, it was my goal as well. I do remember your kit. I'm hoping next year I can pickup my speed a bit. Great riding out there!
@@iowagravelgrinder What kind of camera did you use. Where did you mount it? .
looks like fun! How would a light weight gravel bike do on this course?
I think it would be incredibly uncomfortable. Some of those downhills are super fast but also rough. The fatigue from bouncing around would definitely take away from the race experience.
Nice Job…Great Video!! I said hi to you, and shook your hand, as we were trying to avoid the rain tucked up against the National Guard building across from Gates 6&7 at the start. See you at the next event….💪🏽 Chris
Hey Chris, great meeting you, that building gave us just the right amount of shelter from the rain.I'm glad that rain didn't get worse. Until next time, thanks for watching!!
Looks like a great event and the people seen great 👊👌
Really solid spectatorship at this event. Quickly one of my favorites. Thanks for watching.
There is no "last climb" at Cheq
Absolutely true!! It was a hard lesson to learn when I listened to my GPS. Heck, even the last 600m had a mini roller 🤣
@@iowagravelgrinder yep Not sure I like that race lol
