    Always good to see a motherboard you can turn on XMP and update the bios without voiding warranty:)

    Nice overview. Interestingly ASRock are probably one of the most consumer friendly itx options outside of the US. This is due to them shipping through their registered overseas outlets which keeps the warranty and RMA options intact. MSI being the other. When I asked Gigabyte directly if they would honour their warranty for an imported itx mobo, shipped by either Amazon or NewEgg, I was given the short answer "no". Just brilliant! Something every potential buyer should keep in mind.

    2:23 I love ITX boards for memory OC, and i love AMD APUs for memory OC
    With 2 different 5700G, a $100 kit of samsung B dye, and 2 different ITX boards(one a cheap phantom gaming, the other a ~$250 Asus board) i was able to get at least 4933C17-17-17-28 while maintaining 1:1:1 timing ratios, i didnt even need to overvolt the CPU/SOC(unless the board was doing it automatically and unprompted) With a little bit of voltage offset, one of the 5700Gs was able to get to 5000C16-16-16-28 though it wasnt exactly stable, the other one not only wouldnt post, but on one of the boards i needed to swap the CPU with a 3400G to reset the BIOS before i could try again

      Oh and if anyone was wondering, the iGPU stopped working with RAM above 4600, for some reason it didnt seem to like the IMC running faster than the iGPU core frequency, and it just wouldnt run faster than 2300Mhz without adding more voltage, and even then it was probably unstable, i wasnt interested in benchmarking the iGPU though i did notice it performed about the same in .... GTAV? as the lower end GTX 1050 that probably should have been called a 1040.

    KNow what i'd love on ITX boards?
    A bunch of M.2 on the back of the board, but where to put it that wont risk contacting the case, being too close to standoffs, or being too close to the socket so as to cause issues with 3rd party socket backplates.
    And then where do you route all the traces that would normally be running through where you're placing the M.2
    My best guess would be to have an M.2 normally placed on the front of the board, and then in the exact center of the board on the back place an M.2 that mirrors the slot on the front, then another one that runs in line with the RAM though that might be too close to the chipset

    Hey thanks a lot for reviewing this board. ITX am5 motherboards are limited and it seem all of them have their own set of issues. I found it helpful to take a better decision before buying.

    • @GG-ji4yx
      @GG-ji4yx ปีที่แล้ว

      which one did you go for?

    • @kiraitachi
      @kiraitachi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GG-ji4yx I initially went with MSI, but they have a know problem where the back button of their reset cmos hits the box and drains the cmos battery. So lots of thosr boards come dead on arrival. Had to return it and check again what board to pick. Ended up going with Asrock, havent finished my build, but so far I like it better than MSI.
      If I had to come with a list of prio for ITX AM5 it would look like this:
      1. Aorus board.
      2. Asus
      3. Asrock
      4. MSI
      In EU Aorus and Asus where not available it the most part, so ended up going with Asrock.

    As a long time ITX pc builder, I’m saddened to see high priced high end chipsets such as Z790 / X670 etc ITX mobos with 4/5/6 USB ports total ….. the chipset allows for way more and there space on the rear I/O. So with such mobo prices, manufacturers need to stop cheaping out on USB ports.

    You mentioned that the AIO was built in, are you using the NR200 or the NR200 MAX? I think if you have the MAX version the back panel can come off to allow longer GPUs in.

    Ugh... I have to worry about cooling my storage now too? I've got one open PCIe Gen5 slot but I'm going to wait until I can get a decent speed without heat issues, even if I end up running it below it's max.

  • @puciohenzap891
    @puciohenzap891 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    There are literally only 5 AM5 ITX boards and none has it all (for me at least!)
    - 2x ASUS, B650 and X670 with unpredictable voltage behaviour and possibly CPU damaging
    - 1x MSI Edge with no PCI-E gen5 and a disaster waiting to happen after their keys etc. have been hacked, also lot of complains on low quality and noisy fan.
    - 1x Asrock has no DP out and think also no DP on USB C. NO BIOS FLASHBACK.
    - 1x Gigabyte B650I Ultra not available in the EU

    • @puciohenzap891
      @puciohenzap891 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, I'm returning the Asrock, you need another non-X3D CPU to update the BIOS or it won't POST with an X3D. Bizarre.

    • @kiraitachi
      @kiraitachi ปีที่แล้ว

      @Pucio Henzap unless you have an X3D chip I would go with Asrock. Given that Aorus is not available in the EU. I have a Ryzen 9 7900 and hoping wont encounter any issues with my Asrock board.
      MSI also has CMOS battery issues where all batteries come dead.

    For me, not only the flashback was missing, but the BIOS could not been flashed... never finished, black screened... luckily the old bios was still there and board wasn't bricked... But it went right back to seller. And for me, the board took 36seconds to boot. The behavior you show, without the windows splash screen, that's how long wake up from sleep took. Are you sure you're turnong on and not just waking? where is the windows splash?

    The NR200p is the best ITX case for CPU cooling and the NR200 is the best case for GPU cooling. They should have included a solution to mount the GPU horizontally in the P variant and it would have been the best case for GPU and CPU.

    The Linux kernel does not (yet?) have proper EDAC support for AM5 Ryzen. If you look at drivers/edac/amd64_edac.c you can see that there is no handling of F19h_M60h CPUs (the family and model for desktop AM5 Ryzen 7000). I am not sure if AMD intentionally doesn't support this or they just haven't bothered to update the driver.

    What is the absolute fastest DDR5 RAM I should run with an AMD 7950X3D CPU? If cost is no limit and i wanted the fastest possible? And will this RAM speed increase with software updates, or is this a hard cap for that CPU, which would need replacing with a new future version to use faster RAM?

    For the first time ever my last computer build the length of the card mattered and my case could not fit the longer 6700xt s So I went with a challenger D and it has a good inch and a half of space still left over but the Red Devil would just barely be too long. One day I might need me a new chassis but this Lancool I got otherwise does everything I need and is so nice even as it ages.
