    The best to the point, practical lesson on the radar. Nice touch using the outside views to illustrate overhead vs chase view, I think that will really drive it home for radar novices.

      Thanks for the kind words, the outside views were exactly what I would have wanted to be shown to me when I was learning, it took me a while to understand what each mode was

    I enjoyed this though I can’t say I understood all the technicalities. I am not a pilot but this popped up on my TH-cam screen. I was though fascinated by all the complexities involved. And what came to my mind is how the North Vietnamese fighter pilots managed so many kills of Phantoms, Skyhawks and even some B52s in the sixties and early seventies with such a limited radar and fire control.

      Thanks for watching! The North Vietnamese mig 21s relied entirely on a group controlled intercept (GCI) which is basically a big radar on the ground that has a massive range. This in collaboration with the radar when they got close enough made the mig an effective interceptor.

      The mig-21s used in vietnam war is far different than what the bis is....they did not have a radar like bis had just a CWI antenna to get range for a gun solution
      however they had Lazur vector datalinks which provides azimuth indication to enemy via GCI

    Net sight is a very helpful tool. For example, you can really quickly figure your aprox. turn angle. And so on.

    Your joystick twitching reminds me of my days of Thrustmaster usage... I'm glad I said bye-bye to that about 3 years ago...

    Great tutorial bro!
    08:54 There is also "In Range" light at the top left of optical sight. Red light is active when the enemy in range.

    For me the net sight is extremely useful as a reference to pull lead for guns. I ain’t using that gyro sight thing

    • @mingmong151
      @mingmong151  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah I see, that makes sense. I normally just do it by eye. The gyro sight is super nice but if your close enough for guns, your probably not gonna have time to set it up lol

    great guide. really helpful. one question tho. does the lessons taught in this guide are helpfull for operationg mig21's in war thunder.

    • @mingmong151
      @mingmong151  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know as I don't have the mig 21 in warthunder, but I'd have to guess not. Maybe the radar ranges are useful? But in warthunder you have a label for every plane so I don't know.
