    Fairfield NSW is one of the most multicultural places in all of Australia. So I wanted today's Best Cheap Eats Tour to showcase just how diverse the food actually is here! So many people from immigrant upbringings have called Fairfield City home at some stage of their life, and the food you can find here definitely reflects this. We try Balkan/Serbian, South American/Chilean, Iraqi/Assyrian, Filipino and Lao food today! And the last food we try is very interesting!
    locations visited in Fairfield:
    Tasic Hot Burek
    / meat burek $6
    Paula Continental Cakes
    / chicken empanada $5.80
    Happiness & Middle Eastern Food Catering
    / falafel sandwich in samoon $5
    My Kababayan (previously Sans Rival Food Service)
    / ube flan cake $7
    Lao Village
    / balut (baby duck egg) $4
    I was going to feature two more shops to reach the $30 goal but unfortunately it got dark and they closed for the day. These shops were Fairfield Bakery (where you can get HUGE Iraqi flatbreads called khubz tannour for $1 a piece fresh out of the tandoor oven and samoon bread for 60c each) and Al Anwar Sweet & Pastries which sells Iraqi style sweets. Maybe on the next video! Who's up for a Best Cheap Eats in Fairfield Part 2???

    You are by far the best food blogger and reviewer in Sydney. You actually go to all parts of Sydney and not just city areas. Its nice to see other suburbs, cultures and price points showcased in your videos and you also include the history of the shops as well which is just amazing. Love your work - please keep up with this unique content ❤️

      When you grow up in the suburbs of Sydney, you know the deep cultural diversity and all the incredible food at our doorstep is absolutely the best part about living here! My goal for the channel is to help showcase this to the rest of the world! We have so many things to try and stories to share. Thank you so much for the kind words, it really means a lot to have people like you enjoy the content!!!

    I know the very LAST one we ate can be a bit controversial to some, but it's a street food eaten widely in South East Asian countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, the Phillipines, Laos and Thailand. I'm Chinese Cambodian, so I ate it a couple times as a kid! If you haven't tried it before, would you try it? And if you have, what do you think of it?

    • @steveth1000

      In Vietnam they peel the duck embryo egg. They don't eat it as an Australian boiled egg.

      If I was walking around Asia somewhere, stoned and extremely hungry I think I would,
      if it smells nice and everybody is eating it.. why not ?
      on the other hand sitting here comfortable in my warm house eating my Vegemite toast I would rather my egg with no embryo and a nice dippy yoke

      Probably would never try it. I know Filipinos and I have seem eat it but no thanks. The only thing worst than is it like the pig blood jelly. Chicken Adobo is pretty epic though.

    hi just to clarify about the amba sauce it's not the jar stuff that they used in the sandwich they do make it in house amba means mango in one of the Indian language and it came from over there to Iraq and they kind of changed it so it came in that pickled jar that you saw but Iraqis changed it and made it there own.
    so in the Iraqi runny version it's basically ground fenugreek white vinegar and other spices.

    Hello lovin' your channel
    By the way did that duck egg have the baby duck in it in the video?
    In the Philippines it's called balut penoy without the baby duck and balut with the duck I think 😊

    • @SydneyFoodBoy
      @SydneyFoodBoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      It did have a baby duck but it was only small, no bones yet. I know they love it in the Philippines! Thank you so much for watching the channel!

    Can you please do a video of cantonese food in Eastwood - traditional Cantonese taste have the most authentic rice rolls (I’m Cantonese so can confirm it’s better and more authentic than all the yumcha places) and try Shunde goose at taste of shunde. Only place you can find goose in Sydney and really authentic!

    • @SydneyFoodBoy
      @SydneyFoodBoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely!! I wrote about Taste of Shunde on my Insta! We tried the roast goose and a heap of other dishes, but missed out on the fried milk unfortunately. Have been meaning to visit Traditional Cantonese Taste for a very long time!
