Thanks! Eventually I’ll swap or build the engine (I did a full rebuild on the transmission this winter in previous videos/shorts). Planning on keeping this car forever so it’s only a matter of time (but it’s been extremely reliable so far).
I’m hoping I can make it. Definitely need to make 100% sure the car is good & do some trailer maintenance. Just means more mountain trips to shake it down!
@@karstgeo7290absolutely, just really limited on opportunities to make the drive for proper testing. This all could’ve been avoided if I was able to replicate the issues locally & swap back to the Mk7 BL valve before the track day. Or if I had enough prep time to pack enough tools and spares to bring with me. It was literally like a reality TV show, bleeding brakes, installing tires & loading the car with minutes to spare before picking my son up from school. Then we unloaded the car after the drivers meeting and drove straight to the grid

No doubt. My modest econo-shitbox punches way about it’s weight class & serves as a great daily so I’m not complaining. 99.9% of mk7 owners won’t have these issues. Although even in normal use PCV failure isn’t uncommon.

The GTI is an economy car first, and barely a sports car. Tracking this economy car will show the flaws it has. You just found one.
