Looking back, this is such a great callback to the very first scene of Kingsman:The Secret Service when Eggsy's dad jumped on the grenade to save their lives. They couldn't save the father so they made sure to save the son.
as the whole of Kingsman, this is over the top, and it's meant to be over the top, it's very satirical of sequences in film only meant to make people cry, like this is just meant to be ridiculous
Something incredibly beautiful about a British character singing an American artist's song who's ancestry is from Germany. All being shared by a Korean. Art transcends catagory.
I remember a few years back this movie randomly came on the tv and I decided to stay and watch and when this scene came on, god damn. Everything about this scene is done so perfectly from a cinematography standpoint that I can’t help but come back and watch it every now and again
I had chills and a tear in my eye watching that scene for the first time. The kingsman movies are brilliant. Such a fine melange of comedy, kick ass over the top action and emotional scenes like these. The characters grow dear to you which this scene has shown me in particular. I really hope for another sequel. But i really hope merlins death is final. You cant leave any better than thaz.
Say what you will about this movie, Merlin's death here will go down as one of the most memorable deaths in cinema history. It never fails to give me chills.
Reminds me of a poem I heard in the movie Act of Valor, and which I want at my funeral. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home. -Chief Tecumseh
0:47 - That click that begins the most heartbreaking 3 minutes of the movie, where you know exactly what's going to happen...and that there's nothing anyone can do about it. But _God_ he went out gloriously.
Man, 2:04 to 2:12 where Merlin is by himself and thinking, like he’s coming to grips with the situation, but wants to hear his favorite song one more time. No words. Powerful emotion.
Watching Titanic; Girls: Awwww he has tear in his eye! He does have feelings! Men: Singing sliently in their head in Scottish accent "Country Road, take me home.................................."

MrMuffinman I think it stings more because Merlin is just A dude, he’s not a *EXTREME TACTICAL FIGHTER* like eggsy he was just brought into the kingsmen because some other dude died years ago. And he’s easily the vessel in which the viewer can relate to. Sure we relate to mostly eggsys struggles but Eggsy is far to skilled to be close to a vessel for the viewer while Merlin, likes country roads, is a cool dude, and is freaking merlin
2:26 Almost heaven, West Virginia BlueRidgeMountains,Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads

"Are you expecting another lawyer? There's a guy here, singing" Before becoming an actor, Mark Strong wanted to become a lawyer, and back in his college days he used to be the lead singer of a punk rock band.
This scene is probably one of the best character deaths in cinema history. @@bisher69 right? The reference I'm the scene is very clear. Lol
Merlin also sang this song when he and Eggsy shared a moment while drinking at the beginning. Great follow up and best death in a movie
2things.
1. Beautiful singing voice.
2. Never seen kingsman but that scene still hit my feels.

I broke into tears even though I barely remember Kingsman.
I didn't expect this movie to hit so hard in the feels all of a sudden.
And I certainly did not expect to have such a voice.
This is like the best and the worst part of the movie.
Hell yeah
It's so cringy and so bad, but at the same time, emotional...
Whiskey fixing wagons was better
Bence Illes no its not bad because its cringe wtf is wrong with you. What he meant ist bad because merlin fucking dies...
as the whole of Kingsman, this is over the top, and it's meant to be over the top, it's very satirical of sequences in film only meant to make people cry, like this is just meant to be ridiculous

I’ve never seen these movies but I’ve learned two things from them:
1 rip Merlin
2 manners maketh a man
Everything might be about self-mastering

And the spray of blood from Merlin.
I’m having trouble on whether to hate you guys or love you guys
But the dust from Spider-Man is hurting my eyes too
I can hear you guys crying😭
Take me home!
Pretty sure is a part of Spider Man in your eye
I had chills and a tear in my eye watching that scene for the first time. The kingsman movies are brilliant. Such a fine melange of comedy, kick ass over the top action and emotional scenes like these. The characters grow dear to you which this scene has shown me in particular. I really hope for another sequel. But i really hope merlins death is final. You cant leave any better than thaz.

But _God_ he went out gloriously.
Y'know he could've just stood there for the whole battle and they could get him out after.

It’s permissible for a man to cry when:
His mom dies
His dog dies
He retires from professional sports
He watches this scene
Retires from sports? Jeez that’s a random one
I’d say a few more:
The ending of Green Mile
His friend dies
The ending of RDR2 (specifically the good ending)
What about when his children are born, getting married or if they unfortunately die? What if his dad dies? His grandparents and other family?
don't forget the ending to green mile and avengers endgame
Ending to MGS 3 as well.
Man, 2:04 to 2:12 where Merlin is by himself and thinking, like he’s coming to grips with the situation, but wants to hear his favorite song one more time. No words. Powerful emotion.
Exactly my thoughts. 😢

@@tavellclinton9256 In the original, the producers had him come back with a prosthetic leg but test viewers thought that was tacky so they cut that scene
MrMuffinman what u on about he’s in the second one there’s only 2 kingsman movies and this is the sequel?
MrMuffinman
I think it stings more because Merlin is just A dude, he’s not a *EXTREME TACTICAL FIGHTER* like eggsy he was just brought into the kingsmen because some other dude died years ago. And he’s easily the vessel in which the viewer can relate to.
Sure we relate to mostly eggsys struggles but Eggsy is far to skilled to be close to a vessel for the viewer while Merlin, likes country roads, is a cool dude, and is freaking merlin
Who knows somewhere I can watch this pleasee

"Are you expecting another lawyer? There's a guy here, singing"
Before becoming an actor, Mark Strong wanted to become a lawyer, and back in his college days he used to be the lead singer of a punk rock band.
No offence but it’s obvious that Mark needed heavy auto-tuning to sound decent, so I doubt he was the singer of anything. Love the guy, though.
@@EPrimeify key word here is *punk* band. Bad singing is NOT a disqualifier.
@@tangent94 yeah he probably sang punk rock which had more lower vocals with some other stuff so his voice ain't the best for country songs
Alec Baldwin originally wanted to be lawyer.
No, Poppy has actually a lawyer who looks like Merlin.
This scene is probably one of the best character deaths in cinema history. From the goodbye speech to the sacrifice to save his team to the singing his favorite song, throwing the machete to present no real danger to guys with guns and luring those guys in to insure the maximum number of kills. Absolutely spectacular! So well done!🎉
