Hot Take: But Jack Black is slowly becoming the Dwayne Johnson of movie recovering, You got a bad Script and and a lame plot? Oh I know, Lets grab The Rock! then everyone will like it! Feels like Jack Black is going down that route, "Bad Movie? Just add jack black in it, then people are gonna have to like it!"
I hate that he’s letting it happen, not every movie will be a win but you can work without the pubic getting tired of you. I feel like zendaya is a good example of that.
I know, why not just make it animated like the Mario movie? 😭 Edit: guys I don't mean the art style used in the Mario movie, I mean ANIMATED, like the Mario movie was, rather than trying to go for live action. I don't mean animated in exactly the same way as the Mario movies style 😭

Jack Black is like that one cool uncle you only see at family gatherings who always makes you laugh, but if you start seeing him every day you slowly start wishing that he would just go away
This title hurts as someone in my 30s. Jack Black was problematic back in the day, but in the “2000s Adam Sandler” way and he managed to get out of that with School of Rock. He became a dad to a whole generation of kids like those on the movie, and we loved him. Then Kung Fu Panda made him beloved by our kids. And now here we are 😢
He never recovered after the Tenacious D movie bombed. The soundtrack was great, but the movie was just meh IMO, of course it was destined to be a cult classic instead of a blockbuster.
We actually just watched "School of Rock" for the first time last weekend and really liked it. Meanwhile, I've been tormenting my 15yo by just looking at him and saying, "I am Steve" at random.
I do sorta feel that a lot of celebs are more “becoming annoying” BECAUSE studios push them so much. You touched on Chris Pratt also, and to actually touch on his Onward costar the way the internet is obsessed with putting Tom Holland in everything puts me off Tom Holland Like in the UK for a while the comedians Jack Whitehall and Russell Howard were on everything, recently it’s been Romesh Rangnathan & Joel Dommett TV/Film studios go “oh X person is popular” and then immediately tank it by making them present / star in everything
Man, I went from never knowing who Glenn Powell is to seeing his face EVERYWHERE. I’ve never seen anything with him in it but I kind of hate Glenn Powell now.
Is he still involved with Autism Speaks? Because if not, that could just be a case of him misunderstanding the situation. Unless he's actively defending their shitty history, then yeah that sucks.

I've no idea how to feel about Jack Black anymore. I do believe there's a correlation between megacorporation IP-milking projects and our higher standards for art in general, but idk, a sellout's a sellout. His whole apology and cancelling shows? That is NOT rock n roll.
agreed. Though I'm not sure in general people want high standards in art. That's what they SAY but I think what people really mean is they want something that does something they already like but in a unique way. An animal known for being lazy becoming a Kung Fu Master isn't a complicated idea, but its unique and it was done well. I'm not gonna attack the guy for it but yeah, whatever happened behind the scenes really dampened a spirit that a lot of his older movies had. He's not an epic actor doing epic things anymore, he's an actor with an 'epic' status doing average things.
I don’t think he’s truly fallen out of love for everyone, but rather, people are just starting to get tired of his prominence. It’s the Chris Pratt thing all over again. I feel these celebrity appearances are best in doses rather than overindulges. It’s funny how things go in full circle - back in the late 2000s, people were complaining about Jack Black being everywhere, but the younger generations didn’t care. But nowadays, they do.
Yup. Like I said, if a nutter took action on what Kyle said, innocent people are going to be in the cross hairs along with him. The guy at the Trump rally was going for Trump....but who ended up getting fatally wounded? A person who had nothing to do with whatever delusions the shooter had. Innocent people are always the ones who have to pay for the stupid statements of people who are already well off to begin with.
@hunterericson6782 Some things just aren't joke material till a while after the event taking place, especially when it's not really delivered all that funny. Legitimately just too soon. I don't blame jack for "throwing his friend under the bus".
Jack Black, though I love his stage presence, seems to lack any backbone in terms of public policies. He just goes with what the mainstream's opinions are like a lazy river.
Idk about that. It seems like he is just ignorant and doesn’t do his own research so he just believes what everyone else says. It’s seems like he has good intentions & wants to do the right thing, but you can’t just believe everyone around you and think you’re doing the right thing 😭 you gotta do your own research.
I mean this genuinely and not to be snarky but why do his policy opinions matter? He's an entertainer not a lawmaker. I care as much about his politics as I do the guy who fixed my dishwasher yesterday
maybe because it’s not his job? I will never understand why people like you want an ACTOR to give their political opinions. and also stop saying he lacks backbone when it comes to public opinion we all know you mean “he doesn’t agree with what I agree with” because we all know what happens if he doesnt

My friend says the downfall of Jack Black’s popularity should be studied and I think it was right in the interim of the three Kung Fu Panda movies where his charm started fading.
I haven't actually seen him in much, just for years I'd see the memes and references. But in the last couple years I've watched Willy's Wonderland and Mandy, which were so absurd, outlandish, and SOOO much goddamn fun that I've decided I have to watch every single horror adjacent movie that he's in. And maybe the other ones, too
the problem about Steve's casting is that even mojang doesnt seem to decide what his race actually is since in some promo materials he's white, and he was made to be just a default skin, no personality whatsoever
yeahhh... I was really surprised when she said that most people consider Steve black, because half the white people where I live look like him, a lot of white people's summer shade is darker than him. Steve looks like an 80s to 2000s main game character: not pale but white skin, brown hair, stubble and basic clothes.
I thought the Minecraft movie was fake and when I learned it wasn’t I assumed it’d be 3D animation like the Mario movie. Why on earth would it be live action when the world is digital blocks😭😭
I hate how fast the internet turns against people as soon as they make a mistake. I don't agree with him, I'm not even one of his fans, but saying he's an asshole for defending a bad adaptation of a game he doesn't care about is insane. How many times have you, the person reading this comment, trashed on IPs you didn't know or care about? How many times have you gone "nah, they're giving this way more importance than it deserves"?
Uhhhh, not that often I guess. I do agree that the internet (and especially places like Twitter) has a problem with jumping to conclusions depending on one action that’s morally questionable, so, make of that what you will.
The only reason why Jack Black flipped on Kyle was because it was a threat to JB wanting to appeal to everyone and anyone. JB scared of the money train hitting the brakes
I know! It was a huge overreaction to end the tour over it. Like, it's Tenacious D. Heaven forbid Kyle say something off colour about the worst man in the world. The Minecraft cameo is just enough already too. He looked like he just rolled out of bed, said a couple lines and bounced.

I personally think that Jack Black is a sweet guy who's just very misinformed. Also just because he's been in a few crappy movies doesn't mean he's doomed or bad
i don't find it very sweet to consistently support a group that wants to eradicate autism and treats autistic people like they're diseased. or to consistently support a country currently carrying out a genocide in the name of creating an ethnostate. i'd say it's rather not sweet of him actually
Again, many many people who supported Autism Speaks were not aware of their true intentions and believed they were indeed helping Autism. He has since cut ties with the “charity”
We all have that Steve delving within, the willed urge to tap into the innovative and malleable... It's what you do with it responsibly and with overall equilibrated angles is what still counts.
I remember watching Gulliver's Travels and thinking Jack Black was so uncool. And I was so surprised when my dad said he actually used to be funny. This was like 14 years ago.
I felt sooo bad for the people who had tickets to the Tenacious D concerts in Australia, especially the concert for the first night they cancelled. Because of how big Australia is and how vast a state can be, it's not unusual for people to travel hours and hours for a concert, and alot of people would have paid for accommodation as well as petrol/public transportation. This is money that people can't get back, even if their tickets are properly refunded. It's totally understandable if a concert is cancelled because the artist is sick or injured or has an emergency - it's less understandable if it's cancelled because half the band is trying to protect their image because of a dumb joke. And with the economy in Australia, this might've been the one "big event" someone is splurging on this year. I can't imagine their tickets will sell out here again as easily as it did for this tour. It's a shame, cos alot of people have loved their music for years, but cancelling their tour the way they did just leaves a bad taste in fans mouths.
I can't even listen to their music anymore with the cancelling and all the BS. I was super excited about it; this was actually the only concert I planned to attend this year (spent >$300 for tickets with friends). Jack Black feels like a hypocrite to the messages and vibe in Tenacious D's music now (when there are messages and themes, it is mostly all for a laugh). He ain't metal no more, it ain't metal to fold like that against a friend. I don't agree that political violence is a solution to ANYTHING going on in the US but at the end of the day, it was a joke in bad taste, and since it was fresh news, KG probably had it on his mind, he did apologise too. I reckon that Jack could have encouraged him to apologise, which you can do while not agreeing with his actions, rather than throw him to the wolves with that BS PR message.
It really baffles me how people like you can be so dumb. This is not a black or white situation. They work with several other people on the tours. If some conservative nutter was to attack one of them at a concert because they were mad about what KG said, both of them would feel guilty about that. They both needed to calm things down and the best way to avoid something happening at another concert was to cancel them for the time being. They've said that they're still going to work together and perform. They just need to wait for everything to blow over
I just found out from this video he supports Autism Speaks (இдஇ; ) As an autistic person, that’s really painful to see. Also as a note: while this is highly contended among autistic people, using person first language (“person with autism”) is generally frowned upon. This is because this phrasing has been proven by studies to be effective in overcoming certain mental problems, such as alcohol and depression; however, autism is not something to be overcome or cured
Same here friend, I audibly “nooooooo’ed” when I heard that. It’s just disappointing when celebs tack these societies on without researching them at all :/
Uh, depending on which part of the "spectrum" you're on, autism is absolutely something to overcome. Overcoming something does not have a negative connotation.
I mean, he's definitely not white. Alex is white, and Steve has a very different skin tone. I think he looks more middle-eastern tbh. Eye colour is just to make his eyes stand out more.
It's weird that they even chose "Steve" to be the maincharacter in the Minecraft movie to begin with, considering that the game is kinda about making it whatever you want it to be, with Steve himself being as blank as possible, having about no characterization or backstory - I mean his name is Steve for crying out loud. ...also most people play with diferent skins anyways. It's just such a missed opportunity to do anything interesting with the IP.
Yeah I didn’t like the Peaches song, kinda limited my immersion in the movie. But a lot of kids really liked it so I can appreciate it in that roundabout way
Who are 'most' of the people who think steve is black? The popular interpretation is that hes either mediterranean (light skinned italian etc) or latino. Do people seriously forget that there are a number of ethnicities that have melanin other than black. Also hating jack black for playing a character with no confirmed race is dumb af
Fr people really think any shade darker than "Brit who hadn't seen the sun in 10 years" is somehow "black-coded" like bro chill there are way more than 2 options
Ironically I feel like this mindset of " anyone darker than white ever" is just immediately "black or latino" is really ignorant and racist lmao, but the worst part is people who say this always think they're in the right for it
Tenacious D came out when I was in middle school and I was really getting into metal/rock and playing drums and guitar. They meant so much to me. It was pretty devastating to find out about the shit that went down with Kyle.

First, let me say that I’ve been a Jack Black fan for years, and I was disappointed about what I learned of him during Kayla’s video. What pisses me off the most is that Jack chose to hold his friend “accountable” for a stupid comment, but hasn’t (from what I have seen) said a word about all the horrible things Trump has done over the years.
He’s a very political guy. He was about to do a Rock the Vote tour with Kyle Gass when the whole shooting incident comment thing happened. They ended up canceling the tour because of it. He is definitely not a Trump supporter, he endorsed Biden a couple months back.
“Steve is considered by most people to be a black character.” … What? I have legitimately not heard once in 15 years that Steve is supposed to be black.

Regarding the Peaches thing, my favorite version of that has to be the video someone made where Bowser is singing about Sasha Colby. I don't know, but the idea of a dragon monster with Jack Black's voice singing a love song to Sasha freaking Colby is pretty hilarious to me. Look that up whenever you get the chance.

what? i hadn't heard anything about this. a tbh even after the video i'm still confused. the only iffy thing i noticed was autism speaks and the israel/palestine thing
just wanna point out like others have done that a Jewish man saying shortly after 10/7 that one can condemn the Israeli government AND the murder of hundreds of civilians is fine and good actually. If people want to criticize him for not saying anything else since then, ok, but "israeli citizens are not their government and refrain from cheering on war crimes" is a pretty normal take
Not really a normal take since the Israeli people overwhelmingly and openly support the occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Every single poll shows that over 80% support the government’s bombing of Palestinians and the illegal occupation of the West Bank. 70% think that the government needs to be even HARSHER and do more damage, meaning that genocide simply isn’t enough for them. Then there’s the fact that pretty much all Israeli’s over the age of 17 have actively participated in the IDF and therefore openly contributed to the 76+ years of occupation and oppression of Palestinians. You can conscientiously object but most proudly do their terrorist military service, with extra years on top. They all know they’re sitting on stolen land. They all know they’re squatting in the stolen homes of displaced Palestinians. They fully see the genocide and the atrocities and they celebrate it, even inviting the rapists that openly tortured and sodomised Palestinian captives TO DEATH on TV, parading them around and having them blessed by Rabbi’s, openly holding talks in their parliament about whether raping non-Jews is good in war - oh and almost starting a civil war in the country btw because the government dared to arrest the ZioNazi rapists when that’s they’re ‘God given right’ to rape... To pretend Israeli citizens who overwhelmingly have physically participated in the ZioNazi diaper force are somehow different to their terrorist government is a joke. This is the one case where you can legitimately say the government and people are generally the same level of evil. They all openly want to colonise and ethnically cleanse all of Palestine and they all believe in the ‘Greater Israel’ vision where they go even further to colonise and ethnically cleanse all surrounding countries (Saudi, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, etc). They see and even live-stream all the atrocities themselves.
Never knew people fell outta love with him. My favorite Jack black movie will forever be Shallow Hal. Comparing him to Chris prat is crazy. Jack black can play himself in any movie and it’ll be more entertaining than anything these actors have done, I think that’s a huge factor of his success
When do people get it in their head that Steve was a black character? I’m pretty sure she’s supposed to be ambiguous raced But if I had to narrow it down to one, I’d say white with a tan or if I were to stretch it a bit Hispanic
Hot Take: If Jack Black was "hotter" these incidents wouldn't hit as hard. Seems like bigger people are literally always 2 bad takes away from being exiled from the internet, especially if people think you're too happy, too colorful, too loud, etc on top of being fat. It's like how dare you be fat, AND take up space off screen, AND have a bad take. There are so many conventionally attractive actors, women and men alike, who have said and done WAY more outlandish, offensive, and even violent things but it blows over because they're attractive and often just don't address the public instead of apologizing. Note: I am not condoning bad behavior I'm just pointing out the trend. The internet has very little grace for fat people (unless they dress in all black and seem perpetually and QUIETLY miserable a la Rob Kardashian). Personally, I don't think he's done anything he can't come back from. 1) Actors are usually misinformed/uneducated about the morals of the charities they promote, so much so that it's actually surprising when they DO know what they're talking about. Anybody looking at a celebrity to be socially in touch or to have a moral authority on anything have entirely lost the plot. This man is in his 50s and has been acting since the 80s. He is so far removed it's almost laughable. 2) A LOT of actors take roles solely based off pay these days whether they admit it or not, even if they know the movie is bad or the role is questionable, especially after the pandemic and the strikes. A lot of people across the board haven't financially recovered and it shows. He has kids and I think one of them is about to be old enough to start college soon so I'm sure he could use the money. 3) He never came out and supported violence, his friend did, a whole separate individual. Jack Black can't speak for anyone but himself and maybe his kids. I highly doubt Jack Black would ever endorse or encourage his friend to go out and say those things, at least not on a public stage, and he literally did not support him after the fact. Publicly, he condemned him and basically took a major financial hit by cancelling his own tour.
statistically, hot people literally get away with murder. the judge just couldt slam that gavel, when he looked into those baby blue eyes. YOURE FREE TO GO
I've never listened to a Tenacious D song before hearing Peaches. To me, it didn't sound like Jack Black inserting his music taste. It sounded like one of those wholesome Mario fan songs like "Super Mario Hyadian." Plus, with what I know about Bowser from being around nintendo fans; it's totally in character for him to write a piano piece about how obsessed he is with Princess Peach, for the tonal rule of "it's funny" if nothing else.
I agree with and enjoy this entire video, except I'm confused on Steve being black? Where does this come from? Minecraft is a swedish game, for one. For two, he was created without an ethnicity in mind. For three, look up the Zuri and Makena default skins. Who possibly thinks Steve is in any way a black character?
Yeah I don't think he is either since he has blue eyes and brown hair features that are most common with white people also he isn't really dark he might have a slight tan but thats about it
I think the last thing I saw Jack Black in was in 2010… Can we just acknowledge the mind numbing dichotomy of saying “I don’t condone hate speech or political violence” while also defending an apartheid colony, and in defense of a man who plans to implement a fas*ist totalitarian regime and quite literally trades in hate speech, eugenics, and white supremacist talking points/conspiracy theories?
at this point we lost the plot and need to stfu about Steve. I mean I'll throw my hat in the ring; I think he's racially ambiguous. maybe. perchance.; anyways this isn't the right conversation. DROP IT. DROP IT.

@@mppiI think Steve is probably designed so his race is slightly ambiguous. A white person is more likely to assume Steve's just a white guy with a tan, whereas a brown person is likely to default to assuming Steve is brown like them. This is because our brain uses info we are most familiar with (in this case, our own reflections) to fill in gaps in our knowledge. Anyways I agree with you, I think Steve is most likely brown, especially when contrasted with Alex. Besides it makes sense for them to have the two lead characters be from different races for diversity
People thinking that steve from minecraft is "black" is reeeeally weird. Also for someone to think that jack black playing bowser was a lot of jack black put into it is also kinda weird, because then that makes jom carrey playing eggman be worse. As i saw jim carrey just be jim carrey rather than eggman. At least in bowsers case, jack black did put an effort to be a comedic bowser more than just, jack black. @@JabariMore Considering that Steve has blue eyes (which is very rare for black people) and an overall skin tone that more resembles tan than anything, yeah it's a pretty strange take to claim that he's black. You could make the argument that he doesn't look very black despite being black due to Minecraft's artistic style, but that doesn't really work either since Minecraft has released a lot more skins than just Steve and Alex, including skins of black people, all of which actually do look like black people.
Used to love him, the TD movie was part of my childhood. But him being a Zio? Signing for bombs? Heck nah, my guy. He is done for me, so seeing him in the movie is just "eh, wasn't gonna see it anyway, but that's another good reason to skip it"

THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing up the fact that Steve is a POC!!! I literally thought it was a joke when people would tell me Jack Black was playing Steve because I figured this would never happen considering the little mermaid + Snow White controversy and the fact that the roles were now very, very switched. Needless to say, I was extremely shocked and upset when the official trailer came out… I seriously didn’t think that I’d witness white washing in modern day entertainment.
Film bros When a POC character is whitewashed: *crickets* Film bros When a white character is reinterpreted as POC: ahhhhhhhh forced diversity wokeness!
@@pink__pepper and half the time the character’s whiteness has little to do with the character themselves! Mermaids exist across all cultures (including the African Mami Wata) and there was very little Danish influence in the Disney movie
@@alyssapinon9670 Well, don’t get me wrong, I personally don’t agree with race swapping original characters and even as a POC, I was very disappointed with Disney choosing to race swap two characters. Again, not to pull the POC card but as a POC, I find race swapping to be fake diversity and just plain pandering. However, it’s clear to me that modern Hollywood has something against POC men. For example, I find it extremely odd that Disney chose to race and location swap the little mermaid but literally made up a stupid story for the sake of making the prince white even though the remake takes place in the Caribbean (which is predominantly a black population). I’m not sure how they’re going to explain Snow White being Latina (which I know isn’t a race but I don’t want to get into the details of that) but regardless, the actor playing the prince is WHITE white. ANOTHER example is that it was announced that in the live-action remake, they race swapped ASTRID instead of Hiccup or any of the other male characters in the upcoming How to Train your Dragon live action remake. Naturally, as a POC AND Minecraft fan, I was excited to see a legitimate male POC character and talent when Minecraft was announced. Imagine my disappointment when I found out it was a white guy playing him. Smdh.
@@pink__pepper I agree with your statement. Just the lack of consistency with certain film bros just proves their poorly hidden racial biases. they claim to be against pandering but are actually against any non cishet white man representation. I’ve also noticed that so many interracial couples on TV are white X some other POC. That might have been progressive back in the. 1950s but now it just seems plain lazy and even a bit internally racist. Really feeds into the idea that a POC who ends up with a white person is winning at life. Even though before it was mostly MOC doing this stuff because they were the ones dominating the TV world, lots of WOC creators (looking at you Mindy Kahling) are doing the same exact thing and rebranding it as feminist. Maybe I have some bias too because I’m a non-white biracial but I roll my eyes whenever people hype up shows with white X POC couples.
yall really be blaming the actors for what the writers, producers, and animators did 💀jack black is and always will be among the last good actors in this day and age, cope
Jack has always been such a likeable character in my view, i didnt quite see the edgy or adult humor of his film roles, but movies like kung fu panda, school house rock and the mario bros. movie are what make him legendary. and even if i dont think his role as steve is really the "best" choice, he isnt the problem. The lack of care that warner bros had producing such a dumpster fire that was the minecraft movie trailer, is easily what pisses fans off the most. Jack Black doesnt deserve the hate he's getting
Part of the reason Jack responded as he did was because Kyle put a huge insurance risk on himself, Jack and any concert goer and venues they'd go to after making that statement. If some crazy jackass decided to 'get revenge' on Kyle for making that statement, it'd be just like the event all over again where INNOCENT PEOPLE would be put in danger over political crap from one person. It was essentially a 'he ruined it for everyone' moment and honestly....it was a fofa moment for Kyle and Jack. I said this when it all came down; Kyle should not have put his foot in his mouth by bringing up politics AT ALL because people are fk'in sick of this. Can you imagine going to that concert to ESCAPE for a bit from this political cesspool only to have to have it brought back right in your face, and as a result your favorite band gets screwed over because of it. The problem is that no one seems to be able to turn the political commentary off and give people a damn break. I was around people who were panicking over the outcome of the shooting because they were terrified at the thought that the political discourse is so bad that Civil War 2.0 would erupt from this, because they're constantly surrounded by political jabbering and even in their comfort zones, it's crept in and there seems to be NO escape from it. I doubt TD is going to break up from this because it would be such a petty thing to do but what this should teach both Jack and Kyle is that no, you DON'T have to speak about every political event that happens, you don't have to constantly endorse Government officials or special groups that are actually utter garbage (looking at you Autism Speaks). Jack is a grown adult and so is Kyle and both should be able to read the room and realize that people are tired and just want to listen to goofy music to destress from the yelling online, on tv, whatever about whatever stupid discourse is going on. TD actually brought a lot of unlikely people together but they punched themselves in the face by diving face first into a divisive trash fire. And as for his acting skills? I don't mind him being in movies because as I've seen the patterns, holy crap the movies/shows just suck. Mario worked because he was playing a character in Bowser. It wasn't 'just' Jack but....this? No, it's awful, especially when you realize they opted for the terrible CG instead of just going all animated. Now it just looks like a bad TH-cam rewind skit, not Minecraft.
Wow I’m early. It’s hard seeing him kinda fall off as I’ve gotten older, I loved him so much as a kid but him being a Zionist makes me see him in a completely different light. ‘Good guys’ are good to everybody.
He hasn’t even said he’s a Zionist or defended Israel, afaik. The statement he shared, right after Oct. 7, essentially just says to let Jewish people mourn. You might find it insensitive, but it doesn’t tell us much about his politics.
I still love Jack Black. He’s human and may say stuff out of ignorance, but he is still far more approachable, genuine, and good hearted than nearly every other celebrity.

If some conservative nutter was to attack one of them at a concert because they were mad about what KG said, both of them would feel guilty about that. just wanna point out like others have done that a Jewish man saying shortly after 10/7 that one can condemn the Israeli government AND the murder of hundreds of civilians is fine and good actually.
They see and even live-stream all the atrocities themselves.

steve is NOT black. he’s tanned, considering his blue eyes and mixed skin.
was i about to close youtube and sleep? yes. but you uploaded so
Never knew people fell outta love with him. My favorite Jack black movie will forever be Shallow Hal. Comparing him to Chris prat is crazy. Jack black can play himself in any movie and it’ll be more entertaining than anything these actors have done, I think that’s a huge factor of his success
lol he said that black is in his name, so close enough

Ex-squeeze-me? I wasn’t even aware the internet fell out of love with Jack Black 😢☹️
When do people get it in their head that Steve was a black character? I’m pretty sure she’s supposed to be ambiguous raced But if I had to narrow it down to one, I’d say white with a tan or if I were to stretch it a bit Hispanic
Steve definitely middle eastern with that tan and his ability to not get obliterated by the sun
People who think any character having 1 molecule of melanin defaults them to being black
@@Mavuika_Gyaru As if white people can't have a tan similar to Steve's or live in extremely hot areas like Arizona?

I’ll never hate Jack Black. He just disappoints me sometimes.
You always have the perfect videos for me to listen while doing my skincare or makeup
Yeah I don't think he is either since he has blue eyes and brown hair features that are most common with white people also he isn't really dark he might have a slight tan but thats about it
People honestly just fall out of love with people insanely easy. You don't even have to do much and people will flip a switch automatically
I think the last thing I saw Jack Black in was in 2010…
Can we just acknowledge the mind numbing dichotomy of saying “I don’t condone hate speech or political violence” while also defending an apartheid colony, and in defense of a man who plans to implement a fas*ist totalitarian regime and quite literally trades in hate speech, eugenics, and white supremacist talking points/conspiracy theories?

I still love Jack Black, but I find it suspicious how everyone got mad at Halle for playing Ariel as a black woman. While Jack, a white guy, is playing Steve (A brown skinned character).
Let’s be honest, it has to do with racism 🫠
Steve always looked racially ambiguous to me? Like, tanned maybe? I wouldn’t have guessed he was poc at a glance
@@table2.0his skin is noticeably darker than alex's (a pale ginger) and he has dark brown hair...i dont know how that's giving racially ambiguous. maybe in merch he is paler but in game he's definitely not just "tan"
im not mad because it's so absurd and my humor is so broken that i love it
but yeah, it is kinda of whitewashing
@@mppiI think Steve is probably designed so his race is slightly ambiguous. A white person is more likely to assume Steve's just a white guy with a tan, whereas a brown person is likely to default to assuming Steve is brown like them. This is because our brain uses info we are most familiar with (in this case, our own reflections) to fill in gaps in our knowledge.
Anyways I agree with you, I think Steve is most likely brown, especially when contrasted with Alex. Besides it makes sense for them to have the two lead characters be from different races for diversity
Wait. Steve is black? I assumed the tanned skin was from being on a desert island. I'm not upset if he was a POC, he just didn't look THAT dark to me.
Not that this should matter at all, but Steve has always been represented as having a lighter skin tone, consistent with white or Hispanic at most
@NONAM.E00 maybe they put enough forethought in to make Steve's skin vague so everyone can connect with him
People thinking that steve from minecraft is "black" is reeeeally weird.
(Think mario and luigi games bowser)
It's not weird at all💀
It's literally the same as someone possibly thinking Alex is white.
Steves black??? always thought he was tan because his toys are white and a lot of his promotional art depicts his as pasty white...
Yeah man I thought Hispanic. I think she assumed this

I’m sorry but no. This what we not doing.
As a black person who actually spends their time overly analyzing racism in different aspect of my life. I’m gonna go ahead and say you people sound bat crisp crazy if you telling me that you feel offended that a white man is playing Steve (who yall are alleging is a black character) when he looks very tan (close to Hispanic if anything)
That Steve character is racially ambiguous enough to be white, stop trying to gaslight black people to attack Jack black for yall own issues. Because that’s definitely what that was. Im somebody who really talks about racism with my black friends, and baby this ain’t it. Leave that man alone
“Racially ambiguous enough to be white,” is the weirdest thing I’ve read since Kamala’s debate with Trump. That’s actually a very harmful concept.
I otherwise agree with what you’re saying.

Film bros When a POC character is whitewashed: *crickets*
Film bros When a white character is reinterpreted as POC: ahhhhhhhh forced diversity wokeness!
@@alyssapinon9670 Exactlyyyyy
I still love School of Rock so much
Ok the trump joke is funny
Short answer: Politics
