I'm Shocked At How Good the Teenage Engineering EP-133 KO II Actually Is! The Fader Is Genius too!

  • Had a little more time to bond with it now and I'm starting to see how impressive this is. There's some whacky workflow stuff to get your head around (but I'm used to TE gear now) but it's just such a great little box. It perfectly compliments the Syntakt too. I'm barely touching the surface of what it can do but even just mixing in and out tracks is enough for my workflow. Who needs to change scenes when you can just change the gain for individual pads to add variation later. I'm just loving this thing right now. I'd like a bigger version with faders for each track please ‪@teenageengineering‬ I'd be totally up for a Mk2 of this thing already! 🤣
    Anyway, hope you all enjoyed my jam!
    Gear used:
    Elektron Syntakt
    Teenage Engineering EP133 KO II
    Yamaha Reface CP
    Motu M2 Audio interface
    Mac Studio
    Logic Pro X

    MPC should copy this "genius" fader and call it Q-link. It is a fun toy for cheap but let's be real, it needs a list of 100 things right out of the box just to make it a serious unit.

    • @DanChippendaleMusic
      @DanChippendaleMusic  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I've owned an MPC One, Live MK2 and Force and the qlinks were fine but never felt great to me. Bit too much resistance and a twist isn't as intuitive as a slide for me. Maybe years of turntablism did that. It definitely feels like a toy, it looks like a toy but it doesn't sound like one. So impressed with the overall sound quality for the money. If Akai were to release an MPC Mini then that might be cool, but can't see them doing that as it would probably cannibalise their more expensive box sales. MPC workflow is also a bit weird for my tastes. Anyway, if toys are fun, then send me back to kindergarten!

    Loved this, but the tape slow down is rarely good and was not here either. Keep the tape slow down for an ending. It really ended the groove too early.

      Tbh, the tape slowdown was a mistake. I pressed the wrong button 😂 once I'd done it I knew there was no way back. Oh well. More practice needed!

    Sounds good but the build quality is awful. No one should buy this without warranty

      Mine arrived fine, the fader went on fine but I'm careful 😂 there's a slight gap where the back joins the side but everything else is all good. I think a few must have been dodgy and that was simplified by the internet. A lot of folks like to berate TE. I guess time will tell on long term reliability. At least replacement parts should be cheap and easy to swap 🤔
