I think the greatest thing about this band is not their music, but the fact that they didn't ditch their drummer after he lost an arm in a car accident. That's true friendship and loyalty.
Paul Latimer British we don’t abandon ours
Like Aerosmith with Joey kramer, fuck them!
Everyday is a school day. I didn't know that.
@@1CunnilinGus Oh that's why your a rich and famous musician... Wait your not.

This band refused to go on without Rick! After he lost his arm they had a special drum kit made for him and said he picked it up real fast. Most loyal band out there during this decade. ❤❤
Indeed!
😢🥺🥺
Rick even engineered. I loved that scene in “Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story”
@@Thereadingloft yes!!
they had another drummer playing under the stage because rick couldn't keep up.
80s Music, one of the best eras for Music!!!
Yes it is. I was a carefree kid in the 80s so many memories.
The best😂
Totally agree
80 S MUSIC IS THE BEST ESPECIALLY DEF LEPPARD. WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL AS ADULT AND ALWAYS PLAYING DEF LEPPARD WHEN STUDYING AND THE KIDS IN MY CLASS THOUGHT I WAS THEIR AGE AS WHEN WE HAD AIR BAND COMPETITIONS I ALWAYS GOT STUDENTS TO DO DEF LEPPARD AS THEY LIKE THE BAND AS MUCH AS ME. ON MY BIRTHDAY IN SCHOOL THEY HAD DEF LEPPARD PARTY AND I GIGGLED AS IT WAS MY LAST YEAR AND THE CAKE SAID 22 ON IT AND I TOLD EVERY ONE THANKS FOR THE PARTY BUT I AM 32 AND NO ONE BELIEVED ME AND DEF LEPPARD WAS PUT ON STEREO IN GYM AND I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. TO THIS DAY I DON'T KNOW WHO MADE THE PARTY FOR ME BUT IT WAS A DEF LEPPARD PARTY IN THE 80 S.
I think you may have. a typo.. you mean THE BEST era?
The drummer loses an arm, and doesn't miss a beat. That is insane.
If you listen to the drumming on the songs after he lost his arm, it really got simplified. Def Leppard drumming is super easy and not very complex. That is not to say the band sucks. While simplified after the drummer lost his arm, they still wrote several classic songs.
@@Michael-jw6et and thats why rick allen is a legend

The drummer singlehandedly nailed the drums
And I mean that literally because he has one arm

As a drummer myself I cannot give enough credit to the drummer who carried on with 1 Arm
Agree 10000000000%
Some refuse to let a handicap slow them down. Obviously he has amazing strength.
I saw Def Leppard in concert. I didn't know the drummer only had one arm. I was amazed at some of the insane stuff he was doing. And then he walked down the stage and I saw that he only had one arm. Needless to say I was flabbergasted at his incredible talent and skill.
The thunder God, nothing but respect
Yeah, I'm here in 2024 at the age of 66. This seems like it took place yesterday. ❤❤❤
I like how the drummer never gave up and is a bad ass drummer with one arm
the way the drummer is killing it with one arm is simply amazing. ROCK ON DEF LEAPORD
Thunder God
Rock on!!!
It is amazing. Some people would feel sorry for them selves then go into a deep depression. You know when your band members go out of their way to have a special drum set built that they are not willing to find another drum player with as talented as he is. ZZ TOP felt the same way when Frank beard went into rehab so he could come out sober. That says a lot. It pulled at my heartstrings when I saw that interview with the band on good morning America. It really takes a talented drum player when they refuse to audition for a new band member.
I was also amazed at how he looked like he just happened to pop in and do the concert on his way for a dip in the hotel pool.

No cell service in the middle of nowhere, having to buy the entire album just to get one song, mailing your payment and hoping the mail delivered it on time.... stop romanticizing the past. Not only he came back from a tragic accident and relearned playing drums, he also had to learn on how to use his other limbs to play. Also, his drums are a technologic breakthrough. He wouldn't be playing if the drums were a normal set. Kudos for the engineers who designed the set.

@Laurence Pinney Dude Def Leppard is one of the greatest bands of the 80s, what are you talking about?
Any band with a one armed drummer who rocks, gets my approval.
A little history, just in case you didn't know. Rick Allen (Drummer) lost his arm in a bus crash. He designed a new drum kit that would allow him to play one handed, doing more work with his feet. Instead of looking for a replacement, the band waited until he was ready. This album, Hysteria, was the first one since the accident.

Dedication. He was seriously determined to get back behind that kit one way or another. 👍
@@YorkshireD1
So I take it, from your post, that he was already an accomplished drummer, then he sadly lost his arm for whatever reason, rather than losing it before he took up drums?? I’ve never been sure about that….
@@angelogandolfo4174 Oh yeah I'm pretty sure he was their drummer before the car accident. Had to redesign his kit, add an extra pedal and what not
@@YorkshireD1
Ah it all making sense now…. I vaguely remember a car accident, though I would have been too young to understand it properly; I only went through a phase of liking that ‘genre’ of music, a bit later.
But yeah, from what little I know about drum kits, He must have had a few custom changes so he could play in the ‘regular’ way.

I saw them once before the accident and twice a couple years later. An amazing example of having eachothers back. The drum set was an incredible work of engineering.
At an outdoor venue the crowd was pushing the stage hard injuring several people. The band stopped mid song telling the crowd people were getting injured. After the crowd wouldn't stop they left the stage until the crowd calmed down, like 20 minutes.

People are stupid Lack of common sense and respect for others
His 1st drum set especially really was ahead of the times. From time to time I still wonder what the total cost of that set was. Adaptive equipment and assistive technology are usually quite expensive. Even the basics. After I had my first stroke I had trouble holding onto things like the small handles of the silverware so OT purchased a fork, knife, & spoon w/ "built up" handles. It was $60 just for the 3 pieces so I can't begin to guess how much that .drum set would cost

if only music was this quality today
You just got to look for it, my friend.
This was rock at it's finest.

That’s just nostalgia you’re feeling. Music has far surpassed the Rock music from the 80s. You just have to keep your eyes and ears open. look around TH-cam, Pandora, Spotify. When Facebook recommends a music video, give it a listen. There is more good music out now than any other time in history. There’s just so much more now that you have to weed out the noise from the quality, also currently rock isnt what is in. But that’s just the cycle, in a few years it’ll be back, and a few years after that gone again.
@@ComradNoFucksGivin. Nice profile pic. Priest, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden are my fav bands!🤘🎸
Nostalgia moment: In '87 used to wonder on the school bus why this kept coming on 🙄 Now, I'm screamin it at the top of my lungs wherever it's played 🤘
I introduced my husband to this classic and now he plays it all the time. Never gets old!
Never gets old.
Fun Fact: This was Steve Clark last album with Def Leppard before his death in 1991 due too alcoholism and taking prescription drugs, he was amazing guitarist he will be surely missed RIP Steve Clark
What people don't realise is that Phil who was the rhythm guitarist played lead for the Hysteria album due to Steve's incapacitation. For what they went through, and the way they stuck together I am in awe of Joe and the boys for being a seminal part of the 80s and 90s metal story. I still have some of their original albums on vinyl. Hysteria was my favourite song, the last song I listened to before finishing high school
Jan 8.
May I please point out that Joe Elliot’s mullet was perfection itself.
He was 30 when he died.
In comparison, sugar isn't really that bad for you.
The Tesla song "Song and Emotion " is a tribute to Steve.
This time in music was the best, music today is not the same never will be. Miss those days
I saw them in concert last night in Brisbane,, Australia. They were absolutely amazing. Every single band member absolutely nailed it. Amazing 👏
Same concert same thoughts. Waited all these years to finally see them.
When they came to Toronto, Canada... tickets were $700/each 😢
I wanted to see them so badly... but couldn't afford it 😭
Awww you lucky bastard ❤❤❤
It's cool to hear they still got it this videos from 1987, I think
I saw them in Sydney last Saturday. Absolutely brilliant 👏 👌 😀 👍
one of the greatest rock songs ever made.
Wow
This song is dope for many reasons, one the most important is that it is purely drum-driven. Def Leppard's decision to feature Rick Allen's gargantuan talent in this song and in the way is genius.
The best part of this is the drummer has one arm don't let anything keep you down❤
Who’s still listening to this on November 2020🤟🏻🙌🏻🎸🥁
Never stopped
Always listening to their music and my son started to listen too
Me dude, haven't stopped listening since 89.

Right here
I particularly like the fact that they have two guitarists and the lyrics are incomprehensible. That spells rock n roll to me. I bought this on single in 88!
Same I love bands with 2 guitar players
One of the greatest bands ever .
You got that right 😎👍
An all time classic! Top 5 song ever!
what are the 4 others? for me: Bohap, Stairway to heaven, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and November Rain
@@eduardoalmeida3651 id have imagine, like a rolling stone and smells like teen spirit
@Bob Donald yeah summer of 1988 you couldn't get away from this song. I refuse to believe anyone really likes it that much. I think what it does is hack the part of your brain that's receptive to calculated rock anthems.
Agree 💯💯💯💯
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!
This song makes my quarantine so much better
Let’s get this song to 100 million views by the end of quarantine and put def Leppard back on the map
Spot on !
You can forget your troubles for a few awesome minutes!.
Youre right
Debi 👊
Me too 🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️
Even with one arm Rick Allen is a brilliant drummer
This brings back good memories...lots of school dances...😊❤
This song is a masterpiece 💯
Its physically impossible to play this song at a low volume
Totally agree.
La.gran neta del planeta...!!
Turn up the volume all the way and close your eyes perfect music
Back at the end of summer '87, my cousin organized a lip-synch concert in his parent's backyard. Rounded up some of the lads on the street, and I got the ever long super awesome honour of portraying legendary drummer Rick Allen. Def Leppard til the end of time.
Luca Lazzari I know!! And I’m 63! But I was 35 when it came out
If you grew up in the 70's and 80s, our childhood was filled with the BEST MUSIC EVER 🎶 🎵
True that

I grew up in the 2010s and (thanks to my parents) my childhood was also filled with the best music ever 🤘
