I've seen TMB 6-8 times, including this performance -- in SF in 2019. This show was not a re-enactment of the concert (notice no makeup on the singer). In videos, I don't think I ever saw Hackett look up at the audience. This guitarist does (kinda like Steve Howe does). I'm not sure it was Firth of Fifth or not, but there was a moment he swung his guitar to the left in time to a long-held note. I loved the drama of it. After years of "playing" Steve Hackett, he was stepping out and living the grandeur of the solo. He might have been strutting in some way, but how could his move not include him paying homage to one of the greatest guitar solos in all of rock? In this video, he does that swing to the left a few times, but not as dramatically as I remember it. And at the end of the concert, the band briefly and low-key acknowledged the applause (which they skip when re-enacting Genesis tours). They so totally deserve it, and yet they don't want to break out of their Genesis characters that much. As they say, a class act.
This is fabolous. So close to the Original. And that is something when we talk about the greatest tune on Earth (imho) . Its about time for me to see you live. Hope you will come to Germany again soon. Edit: Just checked: 4th, 5th and 6th of April in Bochum, Mannheim and Bremen.
