Steve Hackett and Tony Banks have no idea that a guy in the remote town of India is addicted to their guitar and piano and blessing them for their music. This is the best thing about being an artist. This song has to be the greatest song ever.

The first time I met my now-husband’s brother, he asked me what kind of music I liked. I told him “a bunch of stuff you’ve never heard of, but I really love old Genesis.”
He smiled, went over to their mom’s old piano, and played the intro to this song.
We were buddies from then until the day he died.
    He would have loved this.

the 70s were crazy. We had all these bands, Genesis, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Pink Floyd, with some "educated" musicians. But the most interesting (to my taste) was what we called jazz-rock. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Frank Zappa, Weather Report, Head Hunters, Gateway ( Jack Dejohnette dms).
A lot of these jazz musicians were part of the Miles Davis' groups in the 60s and early 70s. Their music didn't age.
It's not for ears accustomed to rap and four chords songs.

Progressive Rock my friend, rock bands between 1965-1982 used to experiment their music to another level, with complex rhythms, compositions, virtuoso play. And then Punk Music came to the scene to challenge these virtuoso players with simple, minimalist, compositions but very effective melodies (see th-cam.com/video/BrcvwOkIWkA/w-d-xo.html). Punk rock won the battle with Progressive Rock. People want music that is catchy, simple, fun, easy to dance and hear, Progressive is contemplation, spiritual, like watching a landscape. That does that say about our society.

I've been listening to this for nearly half a century, first saw it played live at Earls Court in 77,more recently at Fairfield Balls a few weeks ago and Steve's solo still gives me goosebumps. An astonishing piece of music

Clearly, Steve Hackett, is the embodiment of Genesis. This shit is blowing me away, and I've been a life-long fan of Genesis!

@@shahaffiq5860 They're all great, but watch some solo Hackett stuff; he's incredible.
