These guys are growing on me. I think it is a combination of musical intellect and groove. I also am a certified music teacher K-12 and I play electric bass and jazz piano. Worked on a doctorate in composition, so I have traversed written notes to the limit. I have gone the other way the last decade learning about roots music, its origins, and history. After listening to this band, I am remembering the smartest guy wins. That means clever arranging and selection of tunes as well as groove. Cheers.
I'm impressed with this little band every time I see them. Not real flashy or fancy, just a rock solid, tight little unit. That sort of thing just doesn't come around very often.

Don't forget that Ronnie Laws is from Houston, TX as well, so no doubt they did it in tribute to him more than anything. They also love Larry Dunn (EW&F) - check their Amoeba video.
I'm going to see these guys on Tuesday at Masonic Temple in Detroit. After listening to them perform, I hope I don't fall asleep. I'm not paying, so we will see.

Their live shows are the best! So much fun to be in the groove with them!
incorrect
It's a great selection of songs. I love Footsteps in the Dark.
Love this band. All three musicians are wonderful but together they can find a groove very quickly and you never want to leave.
I'm waiting for them to play the "sphere" in Las Vegas; that would be ultimate live show!!! They are soooo much fun live.
The drummer on this one❤️❤️❤️

This medley was fantastic! The mix of songs is unexpected, and everything done with their groove/mood sounds so cool.
Magnificent! The theme from Midnight Express is really haunting. I remember watching it when it was released in 1978.
