I'm impressed with this little band every time I see them. Not real flashy or fancy, just a rock solid, tight little unit. That sort of thing just doesn't come around very often.
@@k.h.1587 Although we know that "Regulate" came out long after "Keep Forgetting," generally when it's instrumental, it's "Regulate," or maybe what they're playng sounds more like "Regulate" than "Keep Forgettting." When a classic song is sampled by a rap artist, in my mind, it's still two different songs.
Search youtube for "Khruangbin - Live Medley Data and Safety Video" by the channel 'Elementary Sherif'. There's 5 volumes. Just listen to 5 and maybe 2. They show the history of these song samples.
Where's my music nerd in the comments section with the timeline of all the songs being played in this video?! I need to know the song at 5:11. Whose the artist?
I'm going to see these guys on Tuesday at Masonic Temple in Detroit. After listening to them perform, I hope I don't fall asleep. I'm not paying, so we will see.
Don't forget that Ronnie Laws is from Houston, TX as well, so no doubt they did it in tribute to him more than anything. They also love Larry Dunn (EW&F) - check their Amoeba video.
They’re playing the bassline and groove from one Tribe song, “Electric Relaxation” (Ronnie Foster) but the guitar melody from another Tribe song, “Award Tour.” The whole theme of the medley is hip hop break beats, which means they are popular hip hop beats that have been sampled from older classic songs, or multiple older songs. For instance, the David Bowie/Nile Rodgers song that starts the medley was actually used in a Puffy and Mase song from the 90’s, and the MF Doom medley that follows, which includes the Dilla sample of Giorgio Moroder, are also all hip hop beats that loop or sample older breaks. They carry that theme all the way through, until they play Chris Isaac “Wicked Game”, which seemed very random? To my knowledge, that has not been used in a hip hop song.
The era of bands with soul lives with Khaungbin. And yes, I'm in love with Laura Lea. I love bass chicks. However, let's not forget to give the amazing guitarist and drummer props. The whole band got it going on. I could eat MDMA and listen to them for 49 days and 40 nights, emerging as Rudi (of the mighty boosh), a psychedelic monk with a door in my head 💓💫🍄🏴☠️
Laura Lee is lovely to watch, but who really wears it better...Miss Laura Lee...or ZOMBiERELLA??? (You'll have to look that one yourself. The real question...does she age???)
Their live shows are the best! So much fun to be in the groove with them!

Love this band. All three musicians are wonderful but together they can find a groove very quickly and you never want to leave.
The drummer on this one❤️❤️❤️

@CyberBeep_kenshi About as stripped down, no safety nets, as you can get.
It's a great selection of songs. I love Footsteps in the Dark.
I'm waiting for them to play the "sphere" in Las Vegas; that would be ultimate live show!!! They are soooo much fun live.
This band has no weaknesses. Unreal.

They’ve got their first Grammy! I’ve been with em since 2017 😀🥰
Interesting Medley. Professional.
This medley was fantastic! The mix of songs is unexpected, and everything done with their groove/mood sounds so cool.
Magnificent! The theme from Midnight Express is really haunting. I remember watching it when it was released in 1978.
All those song hooks are so sneaky and delicious. Just gotta say that the drummer is straight up. No frills. Tight as a tic.
She’s grooving’ with that bass!
1:03 theme from "Midnight expess" one of the greatest films ever made

I'd love it if they did a full cover version of Bowie's Let's Dance
The MF Doom!!!! RIP. Amazing medley. Super hard to switch grooves and tempos as a unit so smoothly like this.
Can't stop replaying this medley. Anyone know if they regularly play it at their concerts?
They mix it up, but yeah they usually do a medley
Saw them earlier them week and was disappointed they did not perform a medley :(
Yes same! Saw them at Madonna Inn. Maybe it’s a no medley tour.
They’re doing A La Sala now I think, probably no space for a medley in th set list
