      Thanks for the nice comment - it was a very special day. I originally put the video on Vimeo and it went nuts - something like 6 million views in a week :) I thought there ought to be a copy on TH-cam too. The excitement has calmed down a bit now.

      Italian design is still amazing. Italy as an economy never got the formula right on reliable, mass produced examples of that design, though. Don't feel bad.

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't give you an exact figure - but having just done a 500 mile road trip I can say that we did stop at a lot of stations - though it's not as horrendous as you might think because the engine turns incredibly slowly by today's standards. 128mph at 1000rpm :)

    were is the exhaust pipes, and YES it had them, look up wiki, you'll see it, looks and runs MUCH better with it

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, it did have some originally - but only so that Count Soukhanov could use it on the road. Record attempts were done without. Having sat in the passenger seat on long journeys I know exactly why he requested them - carbon monoxide poisoning! The car now has a set of pipes for touring - but they can easily be removed for spectacle. It runs pretty much the same with or without. This video shows the very first time the engine started. Now with much attention paid to the ignition and valve gear it starts and runs much more happily :) Here's a gallery from a trip across France... flic.kr/s/aHsmHzXQvz

    What fuel does it use?

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just normal fuel - it's a lot better than it was 100 years ago. Actually at Goodwood last weekend it ran on new synthetic fuel - and worked really well :)

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fly4aWhiteGuy Nope. In the old days you could buy petrol from the chemist - though perhaps not in the quantities needed for this particular car :)

    The picture of the car from a long time ago shows a exhaust pipe and what looks like a muffler...would it run better with some backpressure?.... I like the 🔥 though...badass looking

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The car was originally as you see here - built for speed record attempts. No exhaust. It was later bought by a Russian Count (Soukhanov) who requested the exhaust and chain-guard that you saw, so that he could use it on the road :) The were further modifications for the Ostend record attempts - where it had a streamlined cowl fitted to the radiator. Hope that helps.

    Is there any intention to lengthen the exhaust or replicate the exhaust seen in the image at 2:38?

    • @StefanMarjoram
      @StefanMarjoram  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is. The exhaust was originally something asked for by Count Sukhanov - so he could use it more comfortably on the road!
