I really don't know what to say, but Duncan probably saved my life, some 9 or so years ago I was a young depressed directionless young man, on downward slope towards the end. And by chance I came across the Edwardian shorts that were on the GRRC, shortly after that the first of the beast of Turin videos caught my eye, and there he was, standing there a beacon of purpose and happiness. Duncan is a man I find utterly inspirational, working on and using these soulful machines on a near daily basis for fun. It was watching Duncan enjoy his cars I started to see the light and find my own purpose and direction again. And for that a mere thankyou probably isn't enough, I'm now living a happy life, I bought, work on and drive the pants off my own classic mini now and I'm looking forward to going into prewar cars myself when I can afford it. I hope to meet him one day, but I'll probably not know what to say, other than Thanks Duncan.

Most of us will never be in a position to own these marvellous machines,. But the ethos of being fully absorbed in the process , to use the machine as intended, and to love the task, is the message. I think this guy holds the true spirit of car enthusiasm. We might only have an old Golf GTI, 106, Alfa, 850R, or whatever else, but the message is the same: fix them, know them, drive them, cherish them. This brings the true satisfaction of classic car ownership. And I’ll bet this dude would be pleased to talk to anyone who shared that passion, no matter what they drove.

    • @jeffhildreth9244

'We might only have an old Golf GTI, 106, Alfa, 850R, or whatever else, but the message is the same: fix them, know them, drive them, cherish them". '
I pity those who do not wallow in the obsession and total absorption into finding, restoring , maintaining these cars themselves. Any one with the cash
can buy a vintage car and hire out, but it takes more than that to be a "car guy" (or gal). The joy and the rewards of doing it yourself are immesurable. .
I am on my 130th car since 1964, the majority European and British. Currently I am enjoying my 1963 pull- handle, three main MGB. It won't be my last car.
My favorite in the video, BUGATTI.

  • @ronitsingh85

He is a true gentleman and loves what he does, him being a 'collector' is a byproduct to what his actual goal is, that is to enjoy these machines to the fullest - that is restore them with original parts, no modifications, and drive them as they were meant to be.

What a fantastic documentary about Duncan and his passion for getting his hands dirty. I’ve met Duncan many times at Goodwood meetings and he always has a smile on his face, and oil on his hands, and is always happy to chat about his cars and passion.
He’s doing what he enjoys and is very fortunate to be in a position to do so.
This has to be one of the best TH-cam videos I’ve watched for a long time. I absolutely loved it. We need more documentaries into these interesting engineers and car collectors lives and workshops. Simply superb viewing.
