  • This is a engine I just picked up on ebay for my 1998 Stx 750. This is the big pin engine and looks to be in good shape... 150 psi all cylinders and holds a vacumn when performing a leak down check... I thru the engine in and it fired right up.. Now we just need some warm weather..

    2 full day trips on the river ran great then went camping for 4 days... Ran great until the last day on the way back to the boat lauch getting ready to pull it out and seized a front rod bearing... Looks like the front seal failed.... My new recomendation is if you have the engine out change the seals... Its under $30 for seals... Im building a new motor now.. Should be finihed in time to enjoy the rest of my summer... Hope this video is helpful

    I got the vacumn pump at harbor freight. But you can pick them up at any autoparts store in the tool section...

    Why not use pressure instead of vaccum

    How do you know its a big pin by looking at it externally?
    My 94+95 ST JT750 blocks are factory silver looking, 10 bolt single, carb intake,
    I'm thinking I got the earlier small pin design.
    Block # JT750AE003210

      I believe its 96 and newer are big pin.

      You should have pressure tested it too buddy, But nice job and great video! . The seals are double faced or back to back.

    Probably a dumb question but ima ask anyways.so here goes, I also have a big pin 750cc that I rebuilt the dual carbs. I can not figure out what the stock needle settings are on this thing. Like how many turns on the low or high needle. It's been such a pain for me. I had it going and idling but wouldn't get up on plain. I'm asking cause it seems like you answer to the commenters. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

      i need more info.zxi, stx etc and what yr. The reason I ask is because the TX is heavier the settings are slightly different and in some cases the jet size is different.

    The book says use pressure also easier to see if you have a leak simply spray soapy water around all sealing Surfaces see bubbles find yr leak!

      @mogyver69  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good luck with that, there's to many places that can leak, you need to do a proper leak down test.

    Hello I was wondering if u can help me find the problem with 1997 kawasaki sts. It starts & runs good out of the water but once in water it stalls on take off. It starts good in water but on take off it stalls and I have to play with throttle to get it going. But once it takes off it runs really good

      Sounds like you have a carburetor issue. You need to check the inline fuel filters inside the carburetors and the pop off pressure.If it runs fine and only has a hesitation when you first hit the gas your pop off pressure is probably off.

    • @mogyver69
      @mogyver69  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jose Sanchez Your pop off pressures are too high. You need to change the spring inside the carbs to a lighter spring. Look up pop off pressures. I made a video awhile back.

    I bought two 96 750 skis for $1,000 both run fine. Any known issues with these motors/pwcs? I've always been a seadoo guy and these are my first kawasakis

    • @mogyver69
      @mogyver69  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres a block of valve that's used for draining water from the engine in case you sink the ski, it helps get the water out of the engine. that valve can leak causing lean condition. it will cause your engine to blow up/seize, remove it and use block off plate.

      @@mogyver69 Just took the skis out today and holy shit this thing cuts threw the water better than anything i've ever operated. Motor gets in the powerband immediately (way better than those 4stroke skis), really happy with my purchase. Thinking about selling my 94 vxrs now to invest some performance parts for the skis lol. What kind of potential do these motors have with power?

    is this a boat engine? do they use thin on a bike? there is no gearbox right? its so beautifully compact and 2 stroke, I can imagine this on a motorcycle..WOW

    • @tedschmitt178
      @tedschmitt178 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a Jet Ski engine - and motorcycle engines are actually more powerful since they are air cooled and typically larger too.

    • @fidelcatsro6948
      @fidelcatsro6948 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi ted think its a 2stroke engine that's why its compact!! 2stroke 750 eats a 4 stroke superbike 1 litre quite literally

    • @tedschmitt178
      @tedschmitt178 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This IS in fact a two stroke Jet Ski engine.
