The crew asked for 2nd choice of meals to those who didn’t preorder their meals. If you preorder a meal, the crew will confirm that you still would like that choice. On United, Global Service and 1K members get their 1st choice in meals. Hence the reason they ask for 1st and 2nd choice. But if you preorder a meal, you’ll receive it unless you don’t want it anymore.
FYI - you usually have the option of getting a mattress pad for the seat. If you fly Polaris again, I suggest asking the FA for a pad so that you can sleep better. 💜
July ‘23 I had seat 5A. I was truly pleased with the privacy of the seat. I never saw another passenger. The flight attendants were nice and one was especially professionally attentive. The lay flat position was what I needed it to be. It was an evening flight to Paris so I was very intentional about my sleep. I ordered my food weeks before and received all that ordered. I remember an Indian dish that ate every morsel of. The entertainment options were plenty. After dinner, put myself to sleep and woke up in time for breakfast service. Great flight and great way to start my month in Paris.
@ExploringwithCourtney i think the catering United has out of SFO is better. I've looked at a few reviews, and the ones coming out of SFO have great reviews. Our food coming out of Honolulu was good, but not great.
I really enjoyed your review. We just changed our flights to United business class from British Airways business class after a very disappointing BA flight last month.
Great video. I totally agree about focusing on the aspect you value most from a flight like that. For me it's the ability to sleep on an overnight flight and I'm definitely skipping that breakfast.
The wife and I just flew in Polaris class from SFO to HNL. It was a domestic flight so we didn't get lounge access, but our experience was amazing. We got pre-order our meals 5 days in advance. We got breakfast because our flight left at 925 am. I had a Spicy Churizo Scramble and it was amazing! Wife had the French Toast and loved it. The food coming back was OK, but I think that had to with us eating before the flight. Service was awesome, both directions. All in all, we want try the international version of Polaris soon. I forgot, we had a Red eye coming back, and we just couldn't get comfortable on the lie flat seats. Next time we're bringing something to help us sleep. We paid $3000 for both of us. Like I said, we'd do it again.

Thanks for this video! We're flying Polaris from Newark to Dubrovnik in a couple of months so now I know what to expect. Our layover in Newark is 4 hours so we'll definitely be checking out that lounge!
Status passengers will get first pick on meal. You most likely got your second choice because people ahead of you, including status passengers, chose the Cajun shrimp. Pre-order meals are not counted as part of the total as those are non “offerable” to other passengers. Next time is a good idea to pre order your meal for a guaranteed meal.
Currently in 11L for an upcoming trip and was debating moving to 5L. Is the missing window that much of an issue? I’m on a 13hr flight leaving at 10am so should have light for quite a few hours.
I will be flying Polaris from Newark to Munich next weekend. It's my first time doing so and I'm looking forward to it! Did you feel that the bedding was really clean? I'm also wondering how hard it is to put my carryon bag up in the overhear. I'm only 5'1" and I've been concerned about that. I'm going to eat more in the lounge rather than the plane...good tip! Great review & I liked your manner & love your hair! :)
I booked UA Polaris bus. class round trip Denver to Frankfurt and returning from Munich today in Oct. It was an extra $3400, not sure what the base fare was (a VBT tours air team did the flights for me) but guess around $1800, so about $5200 total RT I am guessing (including bus class flights to and from Barcelona from Germany). I chose seat 7 A both ways, as I read they have two windows for the seat. I recently did a last minute Polaris upgrade for Denver - Munich , the one way cost was $2,094. Sorry the food wasn't so great for you, I enjoyed mine, Shrimp appetizer, grilled salmon, and my fav was the ice cream sundae dessert. And the scrambled eggs and bacon was also quite good.
@@ExploringwithCourtney I liked the breakfast but wasn't really in the mood for it at such a strange time. I got a poor 2nd "breakfast" or snack on my return flight in Premium economy , some kind of pizza/bread that I hardly ate. I like Prem economy seats for daytime flights , nice and roomy with just two by the window on the 787-9
the price of premium seats are purposely set really high because they're meant to be redeemed for miles. High retail price = "more" values people think they're getting.
i just watched your videos because u has less views. good luck for future . i searched business flights and your video came on 7th so yeah youtube helping you as well.
Travel tip: bring a couple of zip lock baggies and make a doggie bag from the lounge. United’s onboard food is challenging to say the least.

No. The pre-ordering is given to FAs, not catering

U can have my Away amenity kit if you want. I got mine on Polaris from Newark to São Paulo. The lounge was pretty dope too.
lol so kind! I appreciate the offer but no need to send me your kit haha you should sell it online
@ExploringwithCourtney I didn't know there was a market for that. I was about to trash it!

One way tickets are usually more expensive. Also, I don’t know where the $7K came from. Usually that ticket hovers around 3 to 4K one way.
Definitely depends on when you’re booking it. Lately I’ve been a super last minute planner lol
