Great video! Had a very relaxing and enjoyable time in this Polaris lounge in 2023. The seating is so inviting and the food was tasty. It was crowded but not chaotic or noisy. I was there in the evening for a 6:30 flight that was delayed. What a way to enjoy a delay! It was great start to a month in Paris!
Thank you, for this very nice overview of the United Airlines "Polaris" Lounge at the Newark airport. This morning, I called to see if my United Airlines Club "Lifetime" membership would give me access. According to the staff member that, I talked to over the telephone they said sorry but no, I could not enter without either a "business" or "First Class" ticket for an international flight. So, I said "wow what a poor way to treat your United Club "Lifetime" members (smile ... smile).
Some days I feel business and premium travel is watered down like everything else. Last few years when I fly domestic - I dont even bother with the lounge be it Amex, Delta, Admiral, whatever. I qualify for all of them - but I think anyone who howls at the moon on the right night can qualify too. Then they wonder why it's crowded. I find a quiet unused gate. If I'm lucky I find - yes - "chain" restaurant food and if I'm really lucky, *fast food* (that's the food that people with real wealth eat ---no need to be trendy:). And it seems so much quieter and less crowded than the lounges. In a few weeks I'm doing Polaris International out of EWR. Kids never flew international and I'd like them to see lounge so I'll do it. But I have a feeling the local shopping mall will feel quieter and more spacious.
I agree with you 100 percent. Back in the old days when, you had to pay yearly in money (not in flight miles) to have access an airline lounge they were great. Now days, the lounge experience is ... not so much (smile ... smile).
@@transitengineer Yep - it was aspirational, for real. My parents were 1st gen immigrants saving money all they could so we were just lucky to fly! But my Dad would always lecture us on how if you do well, save money, work, etc - you could go into the lounge, or sit in first class. Back then us kids wanted "Walkmans" so badly. My Dad would always bet me: "When we walk past first class, the people there will be reading, and no WalkMans" -by golly, to this day I remember the newspapers and books. I certainly dont want to wear a suit and tie to fly....but when I was a kid in the 80s the dress was --neat. Business casual in the lounges or premium cabins. MeThinks we could use some of that nowadays in various aspects of life.
I used this lounge recently. It was so busy it wasn’t relaxing. It took 40 minutes to get a table at the restaurant. The buffet looked very average. I think Delta’s lounges are much better and more contemporary.
I've been to that lounge. I had a 5 hr layover. I ate at the restaurant. Too a 3 hr nap on one of the beds. So nice. 😢😢 Makes me never want to go back to the united club lounge
What do you think of the in-lounge restaurant?! So cool, right?

Is it possible to take a nap there??
@@bryansu5824 yes you can in the quiet rooms, but I’ve heard they aren’t very comfortable or private unfortunately
You have to check out the United's Polaris lounge in SFO!
