An interesting ascent in an area I was not familiar with. El Capitan impressive. Would be a heck of a scramble without the trail! Thanks.

Thanks Mark. There is a way to scramble up the ridge of El Cap from Guadalupe Peak trail near the summit. Someone made a video of it and it’s a lot of bushwhack. No one has rock-climbed the face yet as the park forbids that due to very loose nature of the rock

It might be Texas but what a great hike and it's steep. Nice views at the top. I was in Texas for a business trip with my husband in November. I didn't have a car and couldn't go hiking, sad. Felt funny having to pack summer clothes.

I’ve been in Texas before but first time doing any hiking there. It’s such a large state and we enjoyed this part of west Texas very much. There were cars from all over the country at the visitor center. Plan to be back in the future to check out Big Bend too as we just started collecting National park stamps. Thanks Vickie!

It seems Texas’ peaks are not quite as challenging or scenic as Colorado’s.

Different kind of beauty. More desolate and arid compared to CO mountains. It can be challenging for folks from sea level or those not used to longer hikes. We were lucky to have mild wind and cool temp that day. Thanks for watching
