- Our four Maine Coon cats vary in shape and size. Not all Maine Coon cats are large and even siblings can be vastly different
Rosie and Mona = 14 pounds or 6.35 kilograms
Oscar = 15 pounds or 6.8 kilograms
Freddy = 26 pounds or 11.8 kilograms

Are Oscar, Mona, and Rosie done growing? I know they grow for much longer than other cats.
They all seemed to stop growing by 2 years. It was the same with our last pair of brothers too. I know some people say their Maine Coons have kept growing until they were 4 or 5 but we've never experienced that 🥰

Dang 26lbs he’s a big boy! My Maine coon is 15.5lbs at 1 year old I’m hoping he grows a little more.
As long as he’s healthy. Oscar is so much smaller but just as amazing ❤️❤️

Freddy is 26lbs and is a bit overweight. Oscar now weighs almost 17llbs. The girls are still the same ❤️❤️❤️❤️
These cats are beautiful but don’t mind me saying they look underfed because they have long fur you can’t tell if you concentrate you can see how skinny they are. It’s just because of the fur they look okay. They are definitely not being fed properly you need to feed them more often and better food, bigger portions..
They are well loved, healthy cats and extremely well fed. Fred is actually a concern because he’s becoming overweight. You do know that an over fed cat can develop obesity-related illnesses? Some people deliberately over feed Maine Coons because they want to show off a huge cat on social media. We’ve rescued and owned cats our whole lives and do know how to care for them. I don’t often react when people make assumptions by viewing a video, but passive aggressive comments like this are totally unnecessary to be frank 😖
my 2 year old girl is also about 14 pounds. Guess I should actually measure her to get an idea about her size as there's no one to compare her with :-)
It'll be interesting to know if she keeps growing. None of ours have increased in size after the age of 2 🙂

I just got a tabby and it has an M on forehead, we found her outside home, but we think someone intentionally left her in the neighborhood. Is there a way to tell if she is a true maine coon? She is very busy body, I am hoping she gets calmer as she grows hoping she isn't a wild card. She will be a good buddy for out other card who is a rag doll.

Be ready for a big surprise in around 1 - 3 years... sometimes they can have a late burst of growth. A Maine Coon breeder close to my former home had such a boy, he stopped growing with 2 years and was like Oscar, maybe a little smaller. He never was interested in the girls around him, and the vet said there was no need to neuter him. Close before his 5th birthday, he started growing up again, a real burst of growth. The small boy got big and doubled his weight. One night, there were ugly noises from the cats... the now bigger boy made 3 females pregnant! And he was the father of more than 12 very adorable and healthy kittens with 3 mom cats. He`s not as big as Fred, but the difference is small.
Oh goodness! Fred must not get bigger as I won't be able to pick him up. Oscar can but I like his size 😂

Fred is fully grown, i`m sure he`ll keep his size and weight as it is now.

I have 2 mainecoons about 2 months now, and around nearly 2kg,but they still seem quite small compared to videos ive seen. Are they just late bloomers maybe?😅
@@anonymousgaming. Maybe... some grow up very fast, others need much more time. Some keep the smaller size like a teenager for the whole lifespan. Let nature surprise you!

Im pretty certain that’s one of those internet rumours - one person said it and it spread exponentially. We’ve had 7 in total and all have stopped growing by 18 months. They can obviously gain weight and muscle past that age depending on life style but skeletally in our experience they don’t change beyond 18 months 😊❤️

I’m looking to open my home to a Maine Coon kitten. I want one that grows gigantic though. Not a smaller one. Any help? I’m in Miami.
Oscar and Fred are from the same litter and just go to show that you just can't know how big a Maine Coon will grow. My best advice is to choose a breeder with a good reputation who can prove they breed from healthy and registered cats. Good luck ❤

Rosie is a tall, skinny mini too, but the vet is happy that she's healthy - she had a health check yesterday and meowed loudly all the way there and back. She's such a fussy eater and very active. Oscar is lean, Mona's got a little chubby tum and Fred is big all over 🤣

The only breeders I know are too far away and the journey would be very tough for any cat. Try looking at the TICA website to see if there are any breeders listed in countries as close to you as possible ❤
My main coon cat is 30 pounds and he is one of the lightest cats I have ever had😂

Fred and Oscar are red smoke, even though Oscar is a lot paler than Fred. Mona is a black smoke tortoiseshell and Rosie is a blue smoke tortoiseshell ❤

We have a Maine Coon cross male that weigs in at 16lbs and is about 6yrs old. We do not know much about him because he came from the SPCA but he is by far the smartest and sweetest cat we have had. Currently asleep in his current catcave. Benefit is our mouse problem has gone away...
How lovely that you rescued him. I agree with you they are a smart and loving breed. And I know what you mean about sorting out the mouse problem. We live next to a field crawling with mice but they avoid our 4-cat house like the plague 🤣

I love videos of MC cats,their intelligence and good looks are very atractive,we had one for five wonderfull years but cancer got him it broke our hearts,one thing thats not pointed out often enough is that MCs need a lot of attention like company entertaining,grooming is a must their coats get matted very quickly and it can be very painfull for them,we had to get a pet shaver to deal with his butt area and to remove matts as he hated any intensive brushing or combing,and no he didnt love water,so for any one wanting a maine coon be very sure youre prepared to give that cat a lot of time and care or pay a groomer,having said that i would have another in a heart beat❤

What d'you mean? Those are real weights to us British 😂 You can divide by 2.2 to get approximate kilos 😊

The US is the only country (aside from two tiny nations that are in the process of changing to metric anyway) that uses these old units. Does it not make more sense (as well as not being arrogant) for the poster to, at least include, units that the rest of the world uses, rather than expect the rest of the world to have to convert? Oh, and yes, SOME of us British can still work in pounds, but as far as my grandson is concerned, a 'pound' is not enough pocket money and a 'foot' is the thing at the end of your leg.

He is so heavy to lift. We've been cutting him back gradually, but he hasn't lost any weight after 4 weeks. I think he's catching mice in the garden and secretly eating them. Today he walked in with one, all pleased with himself. I had to magic it away 😐
My Maine Coon, Marshal Ney, is quite long and tall, but is very lean. He weighs 18 pounds but is rather skinny. His brother from his litter is the same height and length but much bulkier and weighs 24 pounds without being fat.
Just like our Freddy and Oscar who are such different sizes for siblings ❤️

@@poodinky80 it’s difficult to put cats on a diet isn’t it? We’ve been adjusting Fred’s gently for months and he hasn’t lost any weight. We joke that he nips out for a takeaway (probably mouse) 🤣❤️
@@MaineCoonDaily lol, yes putting a cat on a diet especially a big fluff-en-stuff like an adult male maine coon is a struggle. That's crazy my wife and I make similar jokes about Freddie's late night drive through for rodents. I have a 3 yr old blue heeler (Fred's little sister) and we have to feed them separately bc Fred will eat her food if she dilly dally's about it. Cat owners understand being a cat owner is more in line with having a roommate or a family member, not a subservient pet. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
