The only tidbit we get from before his time on the show is that he's from an influential family of warriors, and that he cheated his way into Beacon. He's also lacking in the villain department; his main antagonist is Cinder, who he'll never be the main foil to since she's 1) a maiden and naturally deals with any other maidens in the show I.e Raven/Winter/Penny, and 2) is Ruby's main antagonist. Giving Jaune, the strategist, Watts the Schemer as an adversary works in terms of their combat ability much better than Jaune (pre volume 9) vs the other antagonists who are far more deadly than he can really handle. It feels very natural too. Cinder, Emerald and Mercury had to infiltrate Haven/Beacon somehow, who would've put them in the databases and forged their documents? Watts. Watts also hacked Beacon and was instrumental in its fall. Having Watts aim his sarcastic comments at Jaune, because Jaune got in using false documents he received from Watts, that has potential I think. Because Jaune, while one of RWBY's stronger characters, needs more than Pyrrha Vengence against Cinder to fuel his motivation imo. Makes him more complex.
If i'm not mistaken, the semblance is fuelled by the aura, and the aura protects from any damage as long as it’s not empty. Since Ironwood took damage on his arm to free himself from the forcefield, his aura was depleted, so he could’nt use his semblance.
That isn't always the case, sometimes it'll be a semblance thats passive or stockpiles energy. Nora and Yang both have semblances like this, Yang's semblance allows her to increase her physical power stockpiled from taking damage, which means for what she loses in aura becomes her power. Nora actually has to be struck by pure electrical energy for her semblance to activate, so that means the electricity that shocks her also becomes the power source for her semblance. Then there's Adam who can use his ability to transfer damage and force into an object he's touching, then be able to release it all at once whenever he wants, so he isn't using aura for his semblance. Or in the case of Qrow, it'll be a passive semblance that doesn't need aura at all, because he's just that unlucky.
If i had to describe ruby in 1 sentence it would be squandered potential. The had a world as unique as avater the last air bender and a magic system that could have the depth of hunter x hunter. You have read the gravity of his story: a rogue doctor with a master degree in software technology (and/or engineering but whatever), a perfect bully for Cinder and has connections with a general and an immortal sorcerer. Buddy you’ll be surprised with my weebo brain. Hear me out. Arthur Watts, rich bloodline turn orphan turn soldier and then turn scientist for Atlas Military. With past connections like rich families he will eventually discover his status and inherit it to become a freelance doctor and therapist for the city of Mantle, all to gain followers to support him for future projects for Atlas. Becoming the Green Goblin, Doc Oc, and Sombra in the RWBY universe. Even to go so far as.. oh yknow, creating Penny. Giving the Penny project for all to create an army of espionage agents disguised as a human hitmen. The perfect spy project, then his rival turned her into a defense weapon, thus taking the credit. Even go beyond to giving Penny a soul that hit the park far from his expectations. This bring conflict hits him so far to the point he supports Jacque his presidency and everything to his company. Improving Dust, approving his own invention to sponsor the Atlas Company and many many more connections. Building puppets, mechs, drones, etc…. Like many typical successful inventor, there are upsides and downsides with a backstory like Arthur’s. Befriending James by patching him up with mechanical limbs and therapy. Tutoring young Winter with eddic and stature, even hinting her to lean on James for emotional support. And of course manipulating Jacque for his own benefit understanding that his status is more useful than his friendship. His downfall to all his success, is an AI. Seeing the success of the Penny project didn’t stop him from building copies of his own to test. Programming mimics, spy networks, enhanced adept, you name it. The AI’s code name would be dub V. Once activated, the whole of Atlas suffer it’s cyberattack. Everything turns into a crisis as to say erasing his identity, turning his inventions against everyone, and leaking all of Arthur’s illegal actions to getting his positions. In turn he went into exile, continuing his cunning and professional years as a shadow broker. In attempt to escape from the consequences of his actions being resolved by Pietro (idk how to spell). From there it’s history leading up to Salam and building up from his backstory to Volume 1 and onward. I could go more

ill give credit where credit is due chris sabat was an amazing voice for watts and id say its one of his best roles as his voice was far different than his usual roles where it is recognizable with some minor changes in tone i might not like the guy as a person, hell i really don't like him but i love his work and his voice
Man watts seemed like a guy who would try to take over another world if given the chance and even if any cape heroes came to stop him he would find a way to take them down! We can only dream... Right?
actually me and a friend kind of fixed his major flaw of having nobody to bounce off of on the side of good. me and a friend are creating our own little RWBY au where we gave Watts an original career to play off of who has a connection to him from his past. I'm not gonna tell you who he is, you're just going to find out one day.
I had an idea that Watts could've been Penny's inventor instead of Pietro. Maybe he made her as a weapon to be used against the other kingdoms, a weapon disguised as a person, but when Ironwood found out he fired him and took Penny away.
There is another connection that you may have missed because outside of some minor offhand comments in the show - they don't really do much with. Watts was the one who came up with the black queen virus they used to make the fall of beacon happen and was in correspondence with cinder in volume 3 (you can see his logo on her scroll throughout). So with that in mind, he is just as if not more responsible for all the trauma our heroes endured in volume 3... Which would make him a direct antagonist to all of our beacon alumni.
The comment of James Ironwood's "Semblance," --THANK YOU. I too refuse to believe that common stubbornness "This is what I decided and what I decided is always right!" is a Semblance. Guy's more bull-headed than Adam Taurus.
Watts's character is good without being an opposing force to main story characters. It's like he's around idiots and fighting another idiots. Perfect. That's why i love Watts and Tyrian. One is intelligent and superior to those even on his team and then there's THE OTHER ONE
Weiss by that point in time was very distant from the Schnee name and renounced her views on Faunus so it wouldn't have mattered much, what else is there for her to say or see besides the brand and an attempt at apologizing that would've fallen on deaf ears? Yang is Blake's lover who Adam humbled so it makes sense she's his rival and involved with the fight. If anything they should've had Yang more involved in the WF storyline and connect Raven to Adam like everyone assumed. I'm fine with Adam being fought by all 4 though, but Weiss can't get over her racism in a single evening. And no stupid shit like what Fixing RWBY did.
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 it could inspire her to fight for better treatment of Faunus's in Atlas though. Being sheltered most of her life, she might have only seen what the White Fang had done to the people in high places leading to her biases and bigoted opinions. Seeing the brand could have her be disgusted and have a realization that the White Fang exists to the Faunus as freedom fighters, not just terrorists. There's also the fact that it could lead to some interesting dialogue from Adam, considering that it was her company that branded him, probably seeing it as a large betrayal. "Blake...." (Adam removes his mask, tears running down his face) "Look at me. You know what they did to me. What the Schnee's let them do to me." (Weiss has a shocked expression on her face, a mix of both fear and sadness, knowing that Adam was able to remove Yang's arm in one attack and seeing the virtrol hatred in Adam's eyes for actions that are not her own) "Not only did you betray my trust, but I find you saddled up with a damn SCHNEE?" Adam's face contorts in anguish. Adam returns the mask to his face, stating that "I had let you go to see who'd you become, to let you make some other friends. You... disappoint me. I should have never let you go, had I known you'd fall this far." (Adam lunges forward, targeting Weiss in the same motion he used to cut Yang's arm off, before Blake manages to knock him off course, preventing the blow from hitting. Ruby and Yang arrive and they all just barely manage to kill him, with Weiss and Blake delivering the final blow. Adam's mask falls off, and Weiss looks Adam in the eyes.) "I'm sorry for... everything. " In a quiet tone, between boughts of coughing: "You... You think you can just apologize? How many? How many are there like me are out there? And what have you done to stop it? You don't care about us. You damn humans never have. Especially you, you disgusting Schnees........." (Adam's body falls limp, and Weiss and Blake remove their weapons from Adam's corpse.) You get the idea. There's also the fact that imo, Bumblebee ships is just really bad, and I blame that for the weird obsessive boyfriend that they turned Adam into.
Watts is the perfect character to display everything that was right and wrong with RWBY from Volume 4 onward. A unique and interesting character with a lot of potential thrown to the wayside and driven through the series by bad writing (the only difference is that Watts benefited from everyone else being poorly written, until his poorly written death). I remember reading sometime after Volume 8 that Miles and Kerry were inspired by Game of Thrones for writing RWBY, and if I had read that prior to already having stepped away from the show, I would have walked away instantly. Those two showed time and time again that they lack the understanding of the show's characters and thought that killing on sight was the solution to making a good story. Volumes 7 and 8 killed off anyone who wasn't deemed relevant for future Volumes (Watts, Jacques, Ironwood, Hazel, Penny, Clover, Vine) and also "killed" five main characters and a side antagonist for...shock value, I guess. Then they thought that they could pull off "killing" another titular main character eight episodes later. Miles and Kerry took a mainstream series about political warfare and thought it would be a great idea to incorporate it's most buzz worthy theme into an animated series about fairy tales. In doing so, their writing lacked spirit and common sense year after year, and it only got worse as time went on. I truly loved this show, so much so that I was viewing it through rose tinted glasses for four seasons, but looking back on everything, it is very easy to tell that Monty's death meant the death of the show from a written and directed standpoint. Obviously, it wasn't all bad, but the bad decisions made with this show far outweigh the glimpses of good moments it had. It's almost like they traded in better animation post Volume 3 for inferior writing, which an absolute downgrade of a tradeoff.

Nah. Watts is more of an antagonist (an obstacle to overcome) than a "villain". He has no real discernible reason to side with Salem & they didn't even both to try & devise one (just like they didn't bother to give him a semblance). CRWBY also failed at trying to make Watts "The Batman" of Salem's forces (as how, most of his feats were pointed out to be the result of lazy writing). I always thought it would be revealed that he used to work for the SDC & had a grudge against them for firing him (so he went to work for Ironwood & ultimately Salem). He definitely would've made for a better "villain" than Jacque (who should've died saving Weiss from him in the past--causing her to hate him, making Winter join the military, causing her mom to become an alcoholic, & turning his protege Witley "evil" like him). Also, that gun fight definitely wasn't the anywhere near the best in the series. Personally I believe Watts' semblance should've been electromagnetism--allowing him to discharge purple electricity from his hands, to: blast targets, erect electric shields, and manipulate machines.
I kinda dropped the show during volume eh.. 6? I forgot to keep watching because it just kept getting harder and harder for me to understand. Also because of the lack of the skip seconds unlike youtube, leading me to watch usually most of the episodes when I didn't really enjoy it that much. My personal opinion on him with how long I've known him is that... He's the guy who probably does the entire Specialist dance in his head while racking and speaking his mind as one of the characters with an existing superiority complex. Good stuff.
Watts for me doesn't really fit for a racist character as he is now. From what I see in him, he's the type to make comments on actions and intellect of other people. In my view of him - he wouldn't judge someone based on their heritage or race, but only on their brains.

Team WTCH bruv
Watts
Tyrian
Cinder
Hazel
Funnily enough, I already thought of that. I just think calling them Weezer is funnier (WTCH is still a banger team name tho)
His motivation is "notice me senpai"
Amazing villians , awesome music, awesome heros that both guys and girls enjoy
And now ists just a shell of what it once was thanks to bad writing and it hurts me to see

I could go more
I would have made yang the alter to Watts. The Brain vs the brawn.
He could hack gangs arm fucking it up or even using it against her for a listening device
the standoff with cinder single handedly make me really like him
before then he was nothing but hackerman no more or less
He certainly filled the charismatic villain void Torchwick left behind.
I was hoping Watts chewing out Cinder would lead to a begrudging respect between the two and eventually friendship.

ill give credit where credit is due
chris sabat was an amazing voice for watts and id say its one of his best roles as his voice was far different than his usual roles where it is recognizable with some minor changes in tone
i might not like the guy as a person, hell i really don't like him but i love his work and his voice
Great video!!! I really liked the Weezer stuff!
same!!!!
Perfect.......this dude was forgettable as hell. I forgot about him until I saw this video in my recommendations.
Adam should've been Blake and Weiss
"Blake...."
(Adam removes his mask, tears running down his face)
"Look at me. You know what they did to me. What the Schnee's let them do to me."
(Weiss has a shocked expression on her face, a mix of both fear and sadness, knowing that Adam was able to remove Yang's arm in one attack and seeing the virtrol hatred in Adam's eyes for actions that are not her own)
"Not only did you betray my trust, but I find you saddled up with a damn SCHNEE?" Adam's face contorts in anguish.
Adam returns the mask to his face, stating that "I had let you go to see who'd you become, to let you make some other friends. You... disappoint me. I should have never let you go, had I known you'd fall this far."
(Adam lunges forward, targeting Weiss in the same motion he used to cut Yang's arm off, before Blake manages to knock him off course, preventing the blow from hitting. Ruby and Yang arrive and they all just barely manage to kill him, with Weiss and Blake delivering the final blow. Adam's mask falls off, and Weiss looks Adam in the eyes.)
"I'm sorry for... everything. "
In a quiet tone, between boughts of coughing: "You... You think you can just apologize? How many? How many are there like me are out there? And what have you done to stop it? You don't care about us. You damn humans never have. Especially you, you disgusting Schnees........."
(Adam's body falls limp, and Weiss and Blake remove their weapons from Adam's corpse.)
You get the idea. There's also the fact that imo, Bumblebee ships is just really bad, and I blame that for the weird obsessive boyfriend that they turned Adam into.
the reason i think watts doesnt have any rivals on the hero side is becouse everyone on that side is really dumb
Doctor Wahwee

U call them wezr is funny I see everyone else call them wtch like witch
I do wish they did more with watts ,I don't get why they killed him off I now there would be much for him to do in vacuo but he could have copied penny made a lot of penny bots to attach vacuo and mainly Pietro & Ruby with it would hurt Ruby seeing that there are
copies of Penny and that none of them are the real penny that penny is really gone and it would hurt Pietro knowing that his real daughter died and he can't do anything this time to bring her back
They could have gave w a bit more to do and especially considering the villain side lost Hazel and emerald thanks to Oscar's intervening they
should have keep a few more of the villains around like look at who we got left we only have Salem who just
showed up and did nothing but got the relics Mercury who I think only maybe 10 to 20% of the fandom even cares about tarian who we know is going to have some type of battle with Crow Robin in the ace opc again and finally just lose, and cynder who needed
NEOS helpful win and I'm just sitting here wondering I know that the vacuo ark is probably going to be two volumes if we get 12 and total I could see it maybe being one-and-a-half volumes
were we get to vacuole and volume 10 and then halfway through Volume 11 whenever we get that we just wrap up the vacuole are completely they don't stay there because they have to go
back to beacon and the final part of volume 11 will be everyone like all the
characters gathering around like they do kind of like in marvel endgame and everybody getting ready to go back to beacon bar main focus will still be on team rwby jnpr but our focus will
especially be on Ruby and Oscar since the last two villains that will probably see are going to be Salem and send her with just like a a million Grimm hybrid
made from humans and maybe a few Silverado warriors that Salem captured in our main focus is really going to be on Ruby Oscar Salem and cynder since they're all intertwined in 1 final battle and our main focus is probably going to shift a bit more. Oscar towards the end because he's the only one who knows where the crown is
And we're just going to see Ruby either finally going face-to-face with cinder like she's wanted for years now and the phantom's want it or we're going to see where it's everyone else fighting cinder while Ruby and Oscar finally faced Salem
But back to the point having whatsaround he still could have probably done a bit more next volume like I said he could have had an army of penny bits he may be stole like a bunch
of equipment they could have showed him at the end of volume eight stealing a bunch of equipment so he could
make box of Penny like we saw at the end of volume nine where Amity
arena look like it's been equipped to be a battleship
And so at best we can guess that some time pass at least six months to maybe a year and in that time we could have had it where w had like a full armory of just Penny bots to attack vacuole whiz it's not like they have a lot of protection like Atlas did and if they're equipped with like the same weaponry Penny had taken down vacuole would not be that hard for him and then you can maybe have it during like the final fight or whatever in vacuo watch gets taken down by someone on the main cast or one of the other characters everybody loves or get arrested by the happy huntresses or by winter innocently how his character ends where he doesn't truly get what he wants in the end and maybe we can have a flashback of him and the tablet and project and how he felt when Pietro got chosen over him
like he didn't really get to learn about him we just know about him in passing and that kind of sucks look at cinder we didn't learn her backstory to volume
eight and I wish we had really gotten the backstory of flashback episode him I wish we had got one for hazel I wish we got one for Tyrion as wellmaybe in vacuo will get one I don't know but I just wish they would they would do a
bit more with the show us with hazel sister look like I know someone told me that I'm one of the light novels it was talked about when ozpin chose Hazel sister to go to beacon and how she ended up dying
The writers have an issue getting like backstories two characters liked again look at Oscars character it was a couple of weeks ago on Cameo someone asks what Oscar's birthday is and Miles admitted they didn't have a birthday for Oscar but he did let us know that Oscar did turn 15in volume
Like look at Oscars character in volumes four through six they didn't really do much with his character I wish they had shown like what Oscars home life was like likes for friends or what his life was really like her school or the people in his village you know stuff he'd be losing so we couldn't have a better understanding of him and sympathize with him more but the writers didn't do that and didn't really start to develop him till volume 7 and 8 for some reason
I'm hoping that the show doesn't introduce a bunch of new to take the villains who are gone to place that was just annoy me cuz they had a bunch of village right there and they chose to kill off Hazel & w and it just doesn't make sense to me
They really did Kill their best villains…
