@@exquisitetoast3859 can we all agree that Phoenix/night has inspired us either with the story of team Srph a story with so much potential and all these oc eeasy that has helped us all make are oc better than before seriously he’s a so creative
@@PrincessLockette That's because it is the Apathy Grimm's power to the letter. Not even mad about it. It would make for some amazing character growth if handled right.
I ended up making a Semblance that makes my character a semi glass cannon. He uses his Aura to create meele weapons, but depending on how big or small the weapon is, it takes a portion of his Aura away. For example, creating a dagger/knife basically tickles his Aura, but something like a claymore or bigger ends up taking a massive chunk of his Aura or all of it, leaving him vulnerable so he plays it safe with a regular sword and a dagger.
I've always thought of a idea of a semblance that is basically a mix of the parents making it as rare as weiss's glyphs. Like say a character has some sort of light/energy manipulation semblance, dad's semblance could be something with maybe fire and the mother with lightning. But that's just my thoughts.
Same. My whole team actually has element related semblances. Water has a fog cloud making one, wind has controlling her feathers, think Hawks from my hero academia, earth can pull rocks and such to her body, and fire can super heat his hands. I tried to make them all element related while not falling into the magic category, how do you think I did?
If you were going the freezing time path, you could potentially have a semblance that slows the molecular vibration of anything in a small area. This essentially would make it seem like time is slowing down
my issue is that im too smart and i end up turning the weakest powers into strong ones with logic like what you said will not work like you think the ibrations of molecules specialy in the human body create heat and if you slow down that vibration soo much you will literary freeze everything around you solid the less molecules move and vibrate the closer you get to freezing
Ngl i ran into the same issue with a character based on Kronos. I instead went with the Ozpin cane approach and had it where if they move then a clock shaped glyph would turn from there moving it back would either cause a concussive blast or make the user perceive time slowly. The main idea was being the flow of time since the user's own movement was functioning as time progressing
My OC's semblance is called "Projection" and put very simply, it allows him to project his aura into a mostly physical form (similar to the Green Lantern's light constructs), though he has to be careful with his semblance as it drains his Aura very rapidly and his aura reserves, while above average in size, aren't sufficient to maintain continuous use of his semblance.
9:42 this reminded me of two OC semblances I made and now am taking into consideration: I had an OC with a Crystallize semblance that crystallizes matter, part of me thought this was too strong and I took inspiration from Rumpole’s semblance of “Golden touch” how her semblance could transmutate atoms, my oc’s crystallize can collect and rearrange atoms to create crystals. Secondly I was working on an OC with a semblance that did the opposite of Ren’s semblance, while Ren can hide emotion to become undetectable to grim my OC did the opposite. Her semblance is like a beacon to grimm, every grimm within the area will drop everything and target my OC regardless of circumstances, I call this semblance “Provoke” or “grimm magnet” since it only works on grimm as for people they’ll feel a slight feeling of anger and aggression toward her. (Love your videos, have a good day)
My OC's semblance is called see what you want to see. Its a passive semblance and it doesn't affect the OC but the people around him see the most treasured person in their life alive or dead, forgotten or remembered, male or female. His semblance was awakened when he was three years old when his grandmother died. No one other than his parents know what he truly look like. He wants to help people remember their loved ones. His semblance is always in use and his voice to other would be the voice of that treasured person, but to him it would be normal.
Imagining how this person interacts when his aura is shattered and people see him as he truly is and what that means for people who have seen his real form after his aura comes back up
I came up with a really cool one years ago Object Perminance: Once the user has contacted an object with the tips of his fingers on one hand, he can teleport to that object once thrown, however, when teleported he keeps his current pose and the teleported object is in one of his hands. Doing this, he has to position himself how he wants to be before he teleports, for instance if he throws it to the ground to dive roll before he teleports he has to put himself in a ball first. Can be used to gain infinite height however it is confusing and dizzying to do so.
I also had one that was kinda like Weiss's Summons, but with this one they create a larger humanoid character that copies the same moves the user does. It was originally inspired by Real Steel, that one movie where they fight with robots by boxing and it copies their moves.
Actually, Glyphs aren't unique anymore. Ren's semblance, both Vibe Check and the ability to Suppress Emotions, now joins Glyphs in having multiple abilities.
It isn't multiple abilities tho. Both sensing emotions and suppressing them have the same basis. Glyphs, however, do not share a common base. Glyphs range from time to gravity to summons, etc. A semblance can evolve and be used in different ways as long as it keeps a relation to the basis of that power. For Ren, the basis is emotions. He could potentially even learn later on to evoke emotions in others and it would still make sense because it is still emotion based. I hope I explained this well enough
I’d argue with Ren the various abilities of his Semblance feel more interconnected than Weiss’s Glyphs, especially when you think about what Aura can do and how the world works. Ren can hide whatever is it about emotions Grimm use to sense people, Aura is connected to a person’s soul, Aura can enhance people’s senses, Ren eventually starts being able to see people’s emotions/possibly into their souls through their Aura, these don’t seem like massive leaps. At least not in they way various abilities of Glyphs do (and that’s before we get into Summoning, which still feels like it comes out of nowhere.)
When creating my first RWBY oc, the character was your typical weak-semblance nobody looking for his big break, so I wanted a semblance that wouldn't pose a great threat in the usual sense, therefore, needing a loophole to make it effective in combat. What I got was a semblance called Bravado. Much like Ren's semblance, my OC could manipulate his emotions alongside the emotions of others. However, where Ren's semblance masks emotions, my OC could make anyone feel a strong sense of bravery and boldness, so much so that it could completely negate negative emotions making it great for avoiding Grimm. The little loophole here was that my OC could use his semblance to make his opponents cocky, and when they slip up because of their arrogance, he can capitalise on their mistake.
I have been working on some OCs and one is an anaconda faunus girl with a snake lower body instead of legs. (If there can be mermaids, then there should be others with different lower legs.) Basically with faunus like this being rare I have her growing up with everyone watching her, either in awe or bigots being disgusted . Eventually she develops an auto semblance like Qrow. The power is when people look at her tail (That makes up more then 70% of her body.) your eyes automatically look away. You have to only look at her upper body with 0% of the tail in view to face her or notice she is there. This semblance would have made it hard for her social life so she became a withdrawn. But this also means the few friends who don't mind are worth keeping, or they just want to use her semblance to get away with stuff. Weapon is a long bow that shifts into a spear. As you might have guessed, her inspiration is from Medusa, like one of your OCs
@Ledge personally my favorite semblance I've made is pretty much ruby's semblance, except since he's based off the angel of death, actually my entire team has either angelic/demonic/saintly names. But moving onto my oc, his semblance is called "crowhaven" which allows him to transport himself a generous distance as nothing more than a group of ravens
@@HHLucifer666 My biblical references are a bit rusty, but I do like the name crowhaven and that semblance idea. It reminds me of when vampires dissolve into bats to teleport short distances. My team's based off the Bremen Musicians story, so they're all based on animals in some capacity. My most flashy semblance is probably Copycat, which can make up to nine aura clones of cats the user's seen before.
Aura itself is a really interesting concept. It is a person's soul made manifest externally that is used as a resource both as a shield of sorts but also as a pool of mana to draw from essentially. A person projects it with their will, and controls it with their thoughts while their semblance is basically what makes a person's soul unique, a "true reflection" of the person. Now I'm wondering what semblances characters in other franchises would have if they were teleported to Remnant somehow xD
My idea for semblance came from the lock out syndrome. Here come a character who some how become permanently paralyzed. She’s conscious but unable to move. Overtime, she developed a way to turn her aura into fibers. By attach them to objects or her body, she’s able to control them like puppets. At first her family was hopeless. They then later discovered that small objects around her starting to move slightly. Soon, they have hope when she began to move small parts of her body. Then she can learn to walk, run, remotely feel things through her aura fibers or even see things through them around corners. Thus she developed an aura vision like eyes through skin. However there’s some drawbacks. It’s take time to master and the more complex the objects is the harder to control them probably. It took her years to be able to move like a normal person. Also since it’s relying entirely by her aura, the moment her aura break, she will be completely helpless. Moving too many, too big or too often would drain her aura even faster. Therefore, she will still need a specializes wheelchair to spend most of her days moving and communicating.
I NEED TO SEE THIS! This is such a great idea, since there are drawbacks and I'm pretty sure you can get away with having an Aura reserve as much as or even beyond Jaune's. And, in theory, you might be able to fight without sensing pain.
I was coming up with RWBY OCs again and trying to figure out how to do a transformation/lycanthropy inspired semblance for one of the characters that isn’t too powerful and also has drawbacks and rewatching this vid made me realize that the precedent for mimicking Grimm is already in the show, the Schnees where they have aura copies of whatever they summon, honestly the advice here and seeing that again helped figure out how to bring it together
How about a Faunus whos semblance works like evolutionary regresion letting the fausnus animal dna temporarely overtake his other dna slowly going back the evolution scale to the animal your traits came from? Could be permanent too and you have to be careful the more you regress the stronger you get but go too far and youre literary just a bear or something
I'm running a RWBY rpg soon and I'm desperately using all your creation guides to figure out npc semblances and help figure out if my players are balanced! It's so hard to get my head around it :(
When I come up with a semblance I try to give them all a curse for example my main oc sort of has telepathy but the thoughts of the surrounding people are just shoved into his head uncontrollably resulting in distraction rather than intel
Did something similar. One of my characters can sonically project her voice but she can't control it so she wears a mask to stop herself from shattering the eardrums of everyone in her immediate vicinity.
What about a Semblance of draining others' Aura (either by physical contact or close proximity) and it being something uncontrollable, at least until it begins evolving?
I had four sembblances, two of them seemed kinda OP. First Clone: Make one clone of yourself which is indistinguiable form the real you. He rarely survives more than one hit but you can easily make a new one. Ice armour: Generate ice on your body to protect yourself, use it as blunt weapons and throw them as projectiles. Tech control: Control any tech that you touch, the larger the tech and the more precise it is the more taxing it is. Requires a clever mind to grasp the machines properly (This one may be overpowered) Powder snow: Turn yourself into powder snow and simply let a hit pass through you. Can also be used to move thorugh small holes. Is very taxing and requires great skill to use since you can only turn yourself for about one second. Can at beast be used about five times a fight (Not sure about this one) Any comments? They go along with the weapons of the OCs. Clone: Two sickle chains with guns, useful for pulling slicing and even blunt hits. Can be intrlocked to swing each other around. Useful when you fight with yourself as an ally. Tech control: A tech backpack which can turn into most weapons The other two don't really compliment their semblances
Wish I had this last year when I was making NFIN and GRFN. Though think I met all the criteria with them. Except Nyx, really pushing it with the phasing. Thanks for another excellent lesson Professor Phoenix!
3:30 You know, there's actually an Anime that does handle this use of time manipulation with the very same approach! In "Magi: The Adventures of Sinbad" anime (Seriously Underrated). Sinbad ends up Fighting the Amazon Queen in her Triple Threat Cerberus Djinn Form! Where she's not only Capable of using her weapons, but accels in her Magical power to Manipulate Ice, Fire, & Lightning. When Sinbad uses Valefor, he completely manipulates the Queen into thinking she has the upper hand, only to reveal that he had been using his Power called Stagnation and had been slowing her Molecules through the use of his Ice Magic. Not necessarily Time magic, but the same Principles do apply :)
This video could not have come out at a better time. Been working on my character for the OC contest ALL day and was at a roadblock. This will definitely help! Thanks! 😁 And I’m sorry for your loss! I hope you and your family are doing better!
As far as time-based semblances go, I had one idea I've been toying around with for a semblance I call "Rewind". The user touches an object and for a little while they are able to "rewind" the objects flow of time, making it travel the exact path it took in reverse. then release the semblance so it moves like it did the first time as if nothing happened. I would have them use a lot of thrown projectile weapons, specifically shuriken / sawblade style weapons to set up fields of moving "lines" that opponents have to stay out of for battlefield manipulation. The more complex the structure of the target (Like say an organic living being or Penny-level robotics) and the more change it underwent (moved from one spot to another Vs Completely shattered and turned to dust), the more aura they need to rewind it. So they wouldn't be able to manipulate other people's time flow at all (Just their equipment, and even then, manipulating anything that is infused with another person's aura is a lot more draining. I would say they CAN "rewind" themself, (to dodge or even undo wounds) but it takes a huge aura drain just to get a few seconds of time back (Otherwise they could theoretically give themselves immortality by rewinding often enough to prevent aging) An evolved form would probably gain a "fast forward" or "pause" function to freeze a target or speed it up. Being limited to non-organic objects that the user has touched, rather than an area or people feels like it keeps it balanced enough (IMO) since it functions similarly to a weaker version of Pyrhha's Polarity or Glynda's Telekinesis but with extra features in certain circumstances.
So essentially, the Rewind ability from Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Strictly speaking, the ability that you desire with this semblance doesn't need to involve time at all. All you need is the ability to temporarily reverse the momentum of inorganic objects. I will say though that being able to reverse themselves with the ability and undo wounds, regardless of how much aura it would cost, is an overpowered ability compared to what we have seen in Canon RWBY. Even if the ability is not overpowered, once it involves manipulating the flow of time in any way, it breaks the rules of the universe. Time manipulation is something that only the gods and the relics are capable of, and even they may not be able to reverse the flow of time, at least as far as we have seen in the show lol
My characters semblance would be “The Cold Touch”. He could make something freeze solid just by touching it and he could use water dust to make weapons out of ice. Also if he can grab someone during a fight he can make them so cold they’re aura would go down.
If you don't know who Killer Frost is from DC comics, you should look her up. When she puts her hand on people she actually absorbs their heat. Her body constantly is cold, and every time she absorbs heat it is like a drug high.
I have an OC that uses her Semblance to either push away or force objects together (a gravity-based semblance) and have her use Gravity dust sewn into her clothes to amplify her Semblance. Without the dust, her Aura would drop rapidly with extended use of her power (her Aura is average), so out of habit she tries to finish fights quickly, and her need to rush would leave her open for attacks.
I've made a few semblances in the past but I think my favorite was Invulnerability. The OC was able to pick a type of damage (slash damage, bash damage, strike damage, Dust damage etc.) and then the more they were hit with that damage, the less it affected their aura. If he was hit enough times, he would become completely immune to that type of damage either for the remainder of the battle or whenever his aura ran out. Whichever came first. The basis of the semblance was a middle ground between Yang and Tock's semblances. Yang had to be hit multiple times to build up attack power. Meanwhile, Tock's allowed her full Invulnerability but only for a single minute. My semblance was meant to be a mix. Dust was another factor for the semblance but it was meant to act as a disadvantage. Say he took slash damage from a sword and then took more slash damage with an added effect of Burn Dust. If his Invulnerability was fully active, he would take no damage from the first attack but half damage from the second. It's a semblance that literally makes you pick and choose what damage you can afford to be hit by and what you need to avoid. This is only the first stage. I was planning on evolving it later.
Snake Bite: A genetic speed based semblance that functions similarly to a flash step. When activated the user is propelled in a straight line. While the options available are omnidirectional, it is impossible to change course until the Semblance completes its function. In spite of this limit, it does boast a level of speed that is difficult to rival. At first the Semblance is quite difficult to use, taking even the most talented a few years to get a handle on. However it is very much efficient with aura consumption due to it operating in a burst fashion. Umbral Mirage: Capable of drawing out shadow minions from the shadows touched, this Semblance demands heavy concentration with use making it necessary for the Huntsman to maintain a safe distance and operate from a logistical standpoint over a combative. While it is possible to generate more than one Umbral Mirage, the level of concentration required to control the semblance increases with a multiplier of how many are summoned making it much more efficient to simply generate one, and maybe two in extreme situations. Due to the nature of this Semblance, the durability and strength of the Umbral Mirage is proportionate to the amount of aura put into it making it remarkably flexible in spite of its hindrances. A loophole for this difficulty is the generation of a simple and/or small construct. At which point the Umbral Mirage is capable of operating as a swarm. Rank Up: Allows the user to buff allies with their aura in a variety of ways. However each person buffed is only limited to one buff. Similar in function to Jean Arc's semblance, the user needs to be in close proximity to their team mates in order to use the Semblance. As it is a donation type semblance, it is quite taxing on the user, and took considerable amount of time to get used to in order for it to be practical on the field . Those are the Semblances I made for team AZUR. Snake bite goes to twins taking up two of the four slots allowing for some fun pincer strategies. Add in the two wild cards and opponents are in for a rough fight.
I have a character whose semblance is like Schnee summoning, but it works by him eating something, and then being able to regurgitate the food in the form of a spectre of something related to what he ate. For example, if he eats honey, he can regurgitate a sizable swarm of bees proportional to how much honey he ate. Alternatively, if he eats, say, a burger, he could regurgitate a spectre of a bull cow.
I thought of an OC from Mantle who awakened to his semblance by accident. It happened on the job in the Schnee mines during a mining collapse. He and his coworkers were buried alive under several tons of compacted dirt. Due to the terror he felt, his semblance activated and surrounded himself in rock armor. He dug his way out and buried his coworkers. This semblance is called Golem: it is a powerful semblance that covers the user's body in rock armor. Other types of rock can be used like concrete or unrefined iron ore, but refined materials or scrap metal will not be affected. Pros: this semblance greatly enhances the user's durability, allowing them to take a great deal more damage than is possible when wearing the most advanced types of ballistic armor. It even let's the user go toe to toe with characters with large amounts of magic like the maidens for short periods of time. Additionally, it provides a small increase in strength and endurance because you are leveraging the rock armors strength. Cons: despite all the benefits the semblance provides, it has some important drawbacks. First, once the rock armor goes on, it can only be removed by a complete aura depletion, kinetic weapons like hammers or mining tools, explosives work too. Second, covering yourself in too much stone could slow you down and make it near impossible to move. Third, even though it is stone armor, you are still vulnerable to intense versions of various elements like heat or cold. Even with all of these issues, my OC wears a special suit of armor in the form of a juggernaut suit from CoD, uses a high powered rocket drill and flail combo weapon with a high caliber rivet gun secondary. He is an immovable object with a hatred for all things Schnee related and hates Atlas for forcing him to become a huntsman against his will. He would much rather work a nine to five job like everyone else, so he is inexperienced, dismissive of those in positions of command, stubborn and defiant to anyone who orders him to do something he doesn't want to do. In spite of these flaws, he is loyal, holds the line despite the odds, and takes a realistic view of the world. This is my OC, what do you think?
Turquo’s semblance is Hypnosis, called Frozen Voice. Eby’s semblance is a copy semblance called Twin Touch. Russy’s semblance is like Marrow’s called Turtle. Lec’s semblance is aura armour called Rockskin.
my oc for rwby: has the semblance to defy physics "so what do you do?" "i defy physics by literally creating a small radius that affects objects" "like what?" "creating an anti gravity field" "huh that's neat...why am i floating?" "this some times happens"
I always had an idea of a Glitch semblance where the user can teleport wherever with pixels. Storywise, he would at first have some malfunction issues with his semblance, Glitching uncontrollably, but he got more used to using it and can not only teleport, but actually turn into the pixels, similar to Ruby's Petal Burst. This power is akin to that of Vanellope from Wrech it Ralph, Delsin from Infamous, and maybe like Tracer from Infamous.
I learnt alot from this and it helped me with my OCs semblance Inner beast: this is linked with your temper (when your angry you let out the beast) you can expand there aura over there arms and legs making a more beast like limbs incuding claws fur and so forth but the angrier you get the more this aura take over when in use if you lose complete control of your anger your aura would create a aura beast surrounding you which is more savage where you have almost no control and you just need to wait for your aura runs out. The arms and legs are easy to control your aura management but when you loose control you are a more feral beast rather then a person and it burns through your aura faster :)
07:33 I know what you’re getting at here, though she has a very versatile Semblance that can be used in multiple ways while characters with more simple abilities such as Elm there’s only really one way to use it, Glynda is one of the best Semblance users if not the best but the reason it would take longer to master is because it has a multitude of uses in and out of combat, where as let’s say we have someone who can turn invisible there’s only one way to use it in or out of combat it wouldn’t be that hard to master since there’s a very low skill floor and a pretty low skill ceiling
Three ideas: Free-Body Diagram: A semblance that lets it's wielder see all of the forces acting on objects of their choice, how those forces affect it's movement, and thus predict where it will be over a given amount of time. It can't predict people's actions, but it can show how it is physically possible for them to move in a given space of time. Also, if you chose to see all of the forces acting on say, one of your own chambered bullets, you could aim it perfectly. Also, you could plan your moves so your fighting sets up some environmental rube goldberg trap for massive damage. Time Dilation: Literally just that one glyph Weiss used once and then never again. I liked it, I think it was really cool, and I want to see more of it. Blackout: The ability to bend and absorb light, and emit it later. This could have two really cool moments: One where this character realizes this works on hard light dust, and one where this character realizes it works on silver eye beams.
My OC has a Semblance I call Personal Gravity. It lets him choose to change what direction gravity pulls him in, letting him "fall" wherever he wants as a steadily accelleration. It also affects items and people he is in physical contact with, though it takes more Aura depending on size and weight. He uses 2 shields that he maintains contact with using special wire that lets him control them freely up to 50 feet away with this. He uses this to be an almost omnipresent tank for his team, interposing his shields between them and incomming attacks whenever he can. It also can be used in hand-to-hand combat to throw off opponents by changing what direction gravity is pulling them when they manage to make physical contact, wether it's him or his opponent scoring the hit. This only lasts for a single second after contact is broken and takes active effort. Imagine fighting someone but every time you hit them, the world seems to flip upside down and you fall away from the ground a few inches.
A stronger version would be Mass weight control by increasing the weight of your mass you can not only hit harder but also if you increase enough you basicaly will have your own gravitational pull
@@homunculus7 that feels too limiting to me. It would allow for more damage on hits, but that's about it. Changing what direction gravity pulls a person for a split second may not do extra damage, but it make sure you'll get an extra hit or two in. From their perspective, it looks like the whole world did a sudden flip around them. Also messing woth mass wouldn't let him be able to affectively steer his weapons.
i remember an oc i had once, Azureite Drossel, who had a semblance I called Dragon's Scale essentially it took in heat and turned it into defensive power. fire was the most effective way, but lightning dust can work too even though fire wouldn't effect her but lightning would leave burns and is weaker. another character who's name I forgot could influence people's minds through subtle suggestion, but required eye contact. i have many, many more. my favorite is "Curse" however that one is definantly broken seeing as its a glyph that gets placed on something and changes it's fundamental existence on the molecular level.
Really useful video Phoenix. It's helped me figure out how one of my OCs unlocked hers and how it works. Cheers and good luck judging the contest. Hope you liked my entry.
I chose an semblance I dubbed, 'Eyes on me'. Essentially, who ever has to focus on my character, but it can be broken and entirely useless if the character doesn't have any allies. For grimm, the emotions of anyone else cannot be seen, basically invisible to them, except my character, making them the only choice for the grimm. For people, whoever is selected will get a sliitting headache not focused on my character, but unlike the grimm, they can still try to harm others, it'll just hurt to do so. Of course, if her aura runs out or she's defeated, the effects wear off, a self sabotaging semblance.
A super helpful guideline for OC creating in RWBY. Thanks! Funny enough my first ever RWBY OC that I made back in 2013 had a time perception manipulation semblance.
An OC I came up with quite awhile ago would fit nicely into the RWBY world. His mythological inspiration hasn't been seen in RWBY yet, as far as i cant tell. He's based on the Chinese myth of Nezha. And his abilities are similar to Sera's, but with a different spin to them.
@@simplyplague5465 Well... We know know that Sera can absorb heat with her semblance, and kinda mess with the flames that it creates, right? Noza, my oc, can also mess with flames... but only flames that already exist. He can't generate them himself, otherwise that would just be straight up magic. At least thats the case if he were in the RWBYverse. In my own story, an aura, and the abilities granted by it, work a bit differently due to the lore of the story itself. Addition: I imagine that if he were a part of the RWBYverse, hed probably carry alot of fire dust with him. or line his clothes with it, ala cinder.
My newest version of my main OC is Inspired by the Japanese God Izanagi no Okami or just Izanagi for short He's the father of The Japanese fire god and the husband to Izanami the Japanese goddess of Death and the Underworld of Japan called Yomi (Land of the Dead in Japanese myth)
I’ve created many characters over the years, each with their own unique Semblances. Tho my favorite is a character whose Semblance is called “Prediction”. It allows him to see as far as 1 hour into the future, it’s great for when he wants to know his opponents next moves. Unfortunately it drains his stamina the longer he uses it, and it also deactivates his aura while it’s active which is a real pain when fighting multiple opponents at once.
This is a great help for the team I've been thinking about for the past month or so. It'll give me a way of fine tuning their semblances to make them more in line with the RWBY universe
I've created a semblance, that is very powerful in my opinion, dust manipulation. He can manipulate dust and essentially use the dust for offense and defense.
not to be rude, but anyone can do that in the Universe That is basically how dust functions. Might I suggest construct creation that is dust compatible or oriented? Or perhaps aura weapons that can be combined with dust? ngl that last one sounds pretty frickin cool.
wellllll i think if a oc have the semblance of experience would be cool, like the schnee family but this semblance stock pile the experience of previous user. And its a active semblance cause the toll on the user would be heavy if they use multiple predecessor experience at a same time and they can use their semblances (Previous user)as well and if a predecessor was a maiden then they can use their power as well only if they choose the right predecessor they just not gain their experience but they can also communicate with them for one time before they choose to use their power so they can know whats the drawback of there semblances just like ozpin curse but not like merging with the user .There might be silver eyes warrior, Faunus, humans, maidens in this family line so it depends on the oc where the story would end, either he can help to save the remanant or just watch from the sideline.
So I kinda went with my own thing with me and my friend’s semblances, but I did put reasonable limitations on them, My semblance (well one of them, long story) is Atom Manipulation, it allows me to manipulate the atoms around me and create things, like my main weapon of choice, however my limitations are, if something can’t get enough atoms it can’t be created, if it’s something that is animate like say a human, I can’t create that, and if say a weapon I make takes enough hits or a hard enough hit, it disassembles back into atoms, I did this as to not make my semblance to op but also make it a bit fun to use. And my friends semblance is a bit of a custom one, called Glitchportation, basically she can call upon all technology energy in her vicinity and can use it to teleport to places however, her limitations are, if she can’t focus on a place to teleport to, she can’t teleport, and if no technology is around, she can’t teleport as far, this is so she can’t say teleport from atlas all the way to vacuo in like 5 seconds. Feel free to leave any constructive criticism or feedback on the semblances.
it could work similar to how time magic is handled in the wakfu series. Where they stop all movents and motion in time within a limited limited area, but everyone under the affects are still aware and if strong enough can break the affect. Also the scheme semblance can manipulate grimm via their summons
If I had a Semblance, it would be called ‘Dust Shroud’. An ability that can only be used in a dusty environment that can create light based energy shapes from that dirt. If there’s no dirt, the Semblance can’t be used. It’s called ‘Dust Shroud’ because the latter part makes it into both a barrier and flexible mass of light.
You know,I have some Semblances of Team STAR which his my Fanmade Team. Joseph Sterling: His Semblance is Phantom,It allows him to Phase through Solid Objects and Attacks like a Ghost Tom Malone: His Semblance is Blur Projection which he runs around creating After Image Clones of himself to confuse his Opponents Avery Scott: His Semblance is Electro Touch and it allows him to Hack or Disrupt any Tech,Predict a person’s Movement and Create an Electric Net to Trap his Enemies or Grimm Robert Yardley: His Semblance is Metal Alloy which he can turn himself into a Metal state and becoming an Unmoveable Object so he's basically like Ironhide from Transformers Animated Also,Keep up the Good work.
That wasnt his Aura Cloak, that was using his semblance to project his Aura around the bomb. Whilst similar, his projected Aura is a solid material as opposed to the invisible defensively used Aura Cloak!
Here was my idea of a perfect semblance for me: Aura Learning. My oc could "learn" parts of somebody's semblance. But I could only use it on people I have a connection to, i.e my best buddy or my sister. And like I said, only parts of it. So if I was friends with team JNPR, and I learned Nora's semblance, I would have to choose between either learning her ability to absorb lightning or her ability to transfer electrical energy into damage.
Had an idea for a few. Thick Hide: The more damage taken, the more resistance to damage while active. Essentially the more you fight this guy, the harder you have to hit him consecutively to eek out the same damage. Constant sources of damage like automatic gunfire, and chainsaws become worthless, but a high energy slugger like Yang would put a beat down on this semblance, and makes for interesting matches against other heavy hitters. Said semblance is used by a big tanky gorilla faunus who's always resisted verbal and physical abuse. Personal War: Multiplication of damage with each consecutive hit. I use this on a really physically week character, who uses a sniper. To note this guy's got a revenge streak against the White Fang going, so he uses it as a "killchain." Deal enough damage to bust through an aura, snag a kill, kill chain off the damage. Destroyer. This semblance converts thermal energy into pressure. Gathering heat from friction, fire, sunlight, ect, builds into pressure. Upon release, said pressure explodes outwards in a directed wave. Depending on the amount of heat, this could be built up to the point the pressure wave could heat things themselves, flash boiling things like stone into magma. The user is a polar bear Faunus that was subject to an SDC mining camp, and was lit on fire and burned his hands on the barrel of a machine gun stolen in a break out. Hearts and Minds: Emotional manipulation. On contact the user's own emotional state is projected onto whoever is being touched. Mostly used to make people less hostile. If everyone's happy, nobody wants to kill each other. This one much like Qrows is always on. The user refrains from touching people for this reason.
I'm pretty sure in Volume 8 we see Cinder using scorching caress with her grimm arm. Unless she is using her human arm to generate swords for both hands to grab. She is also seen generating fire from the grim hand as well.
Two semblances I made were forge and dissent Forge is a quirk where the creator can create objects from smaller matter by using the aura as a connection ( this is actually my oc's ability as he's based off the Celtic, japanese, and Russian myth of trickster animal merchants and he uses this semblance to make blades and objects for trading) Dissent is a passive semblance that messes with the person's train of thought leading to more sporadic and nonsensical behavior
A Semblance that I created for a character basically consists of increasing the power of the impacts. With this, both the blows that he and his allies receive from other people with Aura, as well as those that they give, see their power increased twice, at least. But if the character decides to use a higher percentage of Aura in this, the power can increase, although depending on the power of the impact, the Aura can simply break after being completely consumed by the use of the Semblance.
Only so far into the video but this has been quite insightful so far. Makes me wonder/hope I can make a more unique or proper semblance for my Faunus oc.. who is based off a mantis shrimp, I kid you not.
My characters semblance is more or less just a perception boost, he’s a archer type/thief whose semblance allows him to boost his awareness for short bursts to improve his shooting or scan an area for escape routes. Nothing to over the top or unique but I felt it fit his character and worked well with a random character who’s irrelevant to the story of RWBY
My semblance is aura shield projection: he can project and manipulate his aura shield away from him. he can only make shapes up to his size/surface area and lift things but only up to his body weight. He also needs constant concentration on it is size, speed and location which can be difficult in combat and depending on his skill level has a limited range. If his concentration drops it immediately starts to return to him (like a bullet). Also while in use he has no aura shield so it’s risky to use and he has the scars that proves that. It’s tied into who he is personally as he would sooner sacrifice himself rather than see those he loves die.
I have experienced altered perception of time. This SOMETIMES happens when I am in close quarters weapons combat, when I am participating in medieval combat. I perceive that time slows for everyone and everything EXCEPT me. I have all the time in the world to dodge, parry, or block. I cant MAKE it happen, it just sometimes does. In an effort to learn how to control it, I researched possibilities and stumbled upon something called "Flicker Fusion Rate". FFR is the rate your eyes process light. For example, a housefly's FFR is about 400 times per second; the average flicker fusion rate for humans is about 60. The effect produced is that the fly sees us moving in extreme slow motion. It has all the time in the world to move when we try to catch it with our hands. I believe that I am somehow accidentally altering my FFR during close quarters combat. As such, having experienced this, I have created a Semblance called "Flicker Fusion Alteration" allowing my character to perceive time in slow motion, giving my character time to dodge, parry, block, aim, or find other solutions to defeat opponents.
Thanks for the tip Phoenix! My OC named Walking's powers is mostly based off of sounds his semblance is called Volume so he can either dampen or amplify sounds created by his movements or weapons which in my case is a sort of dubstep gun, so he can stun opponents by firing ear deafening soundwaves. Also i have a OC called Jackie her semblance is she can turn herself into a glitch/intangible by literally splinting her aura and body molecules but for as she needs and the fact she has a split personality so she becomes more...let's just say insane.
I did make a semblance for my OC playing into the wolf pack idea, since Luilfr's a gray wolf faunus, called Queen of the Pack. It powers up Luil's allies based on her own Aura.
Reminder that Time Dilation isn't just a perception thing, Weiss using Dust and her Glyphs makes the person affected by Time Dilation alters how time pass for a specific person, reminder that Blake didn't just percieve time slower but also moved impossibly fast to the point a single slash became multiple projections of attacks like a mini Judgement Cut from Vergil from DMC. EDIT: Also, you seem to forget that Pyrrha's semblance "Polarity" was her basically controlling Electro-Magnetism one of the primordial forces of the universe that isn't gravity so I want you to explain how that semblance isn't as reality breaking as time manipulation, also you bring Marrow multiple times, you mean to tell me that stopping ALL MOMENTUM in a wide area isn't stupidly broken? Marrow can basically do a Neo from Matrix and stop a barrage of Dust Bullets dead in their tracks by freezing momentum.
I always thought that Weiss' glyph used on Blake was basically the equivalent of using "Prisa" (that's what called in my country) in a FF game. The target gets an extra turn, the target is faster. We can see how broken that is the moment Blake has the effect. It seems a lot of the points come from accepting the "simple" things of the canon aren't that important or powerful to center a character around it. Everything powerful should have a drawback, but is that drawback important enough when the ability itself is broken? Weiss could just use the glyph on either Blake or Ruby and watch how everything gets sliced in bits. Marrow can synchronize with his team in a very destructive way to pulverize their enemy. I agree with the points made, but some examples as the ones you point out kind of fall flat. In the end, it just breaks down to: if you use a powerful ability, only do so when the stakes are high and in a very "little" way that has some consequence and contribute to the team, instead of soloing the enemy.
Marrow’s semblance can absolutely be stupidly broken in the right circumstances, but he really needs allies to make it work since he can’t seem to do anything while he has something stopped. Ironically enough, he stops all momentum in a wide area and indirectly “hits himself” with it too. There’s the drawback that keeps it from being crazy broken.
Ngl i found it fun to just have semblances being similar to miscellaneous super powers but unique things seem fun, recently i thought of an assassin character based on the ugly duckling that could project her emotions on other people, the fun idea would be for her to have her opponent feel negative emotions while being with eye sight from far away just to have Grimm overwhelm them all before finishing the job
Copy : the wielder of this Semblance is able to copy the Semblances of others, but certain circumstances are required... 1) the wielder my make physical contact with the person who they are going to copy, this activates the first part of Copy where the wielder draws in the Aura of their target into themselves 2) the wielder must understand how to use the copied semblance, this requires observing their target using their semblance first 3) the wielder has a limited amount of time to use the copied Semblance equivalent to how much of the targets Aura they have drawn into themselves, once that Aura has been depleted they are unable to use the targets Semblance until they draw in more of the targets Aura 4) can only start off copying a single Semblance, but with training and practice could possibly copy multiple Semblances at the same time but for shorter periods of time compared to a single one
I don't have a RWBY oc, but I do have a Kingdom Hearts oc, and I could see Remnant affecting her abilities, much like the Pride Lands and Atlantica. Her "semblance" could be called Variable Truth, and would basically be shapeshifting. On the other hand, her weapon is called Lifeline, and keyblades, like aura, are deeply personal(or should be)... Maybe she can partition bits of her 'aura' for later use? On an unrelated note, I had an idea for a monster with an ability called Sinew Hijack. It'd basically take advantage of automatically twitches and phantom movements, making characters think their limbs are moving when they're not.
I really love all your RWBY OC videos! They are very helpful! Me and a friend of mine actually made a team! They are called Team ALCE and the members are based on characters in Alice in Wonderland!
My sixteen OC's semblances (That I will probably never use because I have no time....sadness): Team Avocado: Alabaster Linen: Equality (Allows the user to make the target experiance their own hits and attacks) Volt Acid: Venomus Tip (makes everyything he touches poisonous and allows himself to be restistant to poison) Olivine Privet: Ariadne's Threat (allows her to have a blueprint of a building in her mind once she has passed one part of it, like a tunnel) Opal Blizzard: Volatile feelings (changes the temperture/climate of things she touches) Team Pitch: Phlox Harlequin: Mania Unleashed (can make his opponent go completly crazy for a certain amount of time) Claret Aero (Alabaster is his twin so this is why their semblances are very similar): Vendetta (collects the energy of blows against him and stores them in his aura until he unleashes it all on one person) Coral Falun: Without Fail (never misses her target) Hunter Viridian: Forge's Touch (knows everything about a weapon when he is able to touch it) Team Celadon: Cedar Flame-Aramanth: Gentle Friend (Can calm down others trough touching them) Leuce Onyx: Invisible Walls (can create invisible walls almost everywhere that can't be passed, not even by himself) Alice Zaffle: Echo (Can use a fragment of the power of former opponents she managed to defeat) Nyanza Moss: Final Stand (collects Aura of her teammates during a fight and sets it free in agiant energy blast once her Aura is broken) Team Celeste: Corvin Rich: Helm of Darkness (Has the ability to make people unable to move through looking at them) Copper Blush: Lock Picking (can open any kind of lock through touching it and knows its mechanisim after that) Lapis Lazuli: Night Fall (can make people fall asleep Periwinkle Thullian: Blinding Lights (collects sunlight and can create a bright lighting strike to blind her opponent)
I was super nervous going into this video because I have already submitted my character and so its too late to make changes now. But after watching this video, I think I'm good still. My character's semblance is basically soft fire bending. Creation of the fire comes from dust and crystals so she is breaking any rules there. How she uses her semblance is unique to her and her overall design. Its possible I underestimated the aura drain using her power, but for the context in which its being used, it should be fine either way.
5 semblance I come up. Memories - the ability allow to see a person's past by look through them. Strength - allowing to lift over thousand pound weight. Jump - to jump high and jump long distance. Slow motion - a ability to slow things down or persons. Force field - a power to create surrounding around to defend from being hits.
The ability to rotate a space and the an ability where your hits deal no damage until one strike deals more collective damage than the previous hits. Ooo also the ability to redirect force, like when you activate and you punch someone instead of being pushed back they are pulled towards you. I have my own fantasy world and these are some that I think are possible in rwby
i have my own RWBY OC's and team! i need to work on their semblances tbh. i havent touched these characters in a few years, and this vid definately inspired me to look back at them and fix them for fun!
Everyone’s semblance: *Godlike power* My OC’s semblance: “Hey guys I have this parry shield that can parry any attack, but if the attack is too strong there can be consequences”
An idea I had for a semblance revolved around creating a barrier based on specified dimensions set by the user at the time of activation. Any shape, so long as the user can maintain a clear image of the barrier’s boundaries. However, the barrier’s boundaries must be closed and cannot collide with anything (so no amputations, accidental or intentional). The barrier, being a semblance, drains aura just as if it were deployed around the body when subjected to attacks (inside or out). Additionally, it requires enough focus that it cannot be deployed in tandem with a typical defensive aura. To further limit its current incarnation, the barrier cannot be moved once deployed, only dissolved to produce a new one.
I went for a more subtle Semblance with my OC Celesta Obscurum that on paper is not very strong or dangerous. I called it Light Shade, she distorts the light in a three-meter radius around her causing opponents to misjudge her movements. Limitations only works on those in the radius those outside would see her normally, and it only lasts for twenty seconds and needs eighty seconds before being used again, not to mention the aura needed of course. She got it in combat school when two classmates ganged up on her during a combat sim and her semblance awakened, causing them to attack thin air.
I have two rwby oc semblances that I'm unsure which would be better to use First is ;; Quick Silver. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ ࿐ྂ this semblance creates a liquid metal out of the user's aura this metal hardens quickly once out of her aura zone ,which is two arms lengths away, this aura metal is permanent once hardened unless the semblance holder touches it and turns it back into his aura which can recharge and somewhat heal the user. Second is ;; gemanace. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ ࿐ྂ This semblance allows the user to a harden crystal substance creating brief constructs ,such as sheilds, out of this substance they can break easy enough ,depending how much aura is put into the construct, but once broken the construction converts back into aura that slowly goes back into the user
So I have a really wacky semblance based off of ANTHEM's combo system. You basically "prime" the enemy through some sort of ailment (probably through elemental dust in this case) and then you detonate that primer with a sudden burst of energy, similar to a grenade or missile of sorts.
When I think about semblances and semblances for OC's, I try to keep in mind two additional rules. 1. There has to be a weakness. 2. It connects with a trauma for the character. My first OC semblance I thought up was a high-frequency soundwave, like Black Canary's power. I added two limitations, 1. That the character needs air to use it and cannot breath while using it. 2. Prolonged use can damage their vocal cords. Watching this, I may add another about the amount of aura used. The trauma for this particular character is that they were trapped and calling for help. Eventually, they were so desperate that they screamed and the semblance formed. I know it would probably get thrown out of this contest, but I would like to think the various limitations would keep it from being overpowered.

@Jonathan Harlan yup, I have been using flixzone for years myself :)
@Jonathan Harlan thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I appreciate it !!
I've always thought of a idea of a semblance that is basically a mix of the parents making it as rare as weiss's glyphs. Like say a character has some sort of light/energy manipulation semblance, dad's semblance could be something with maybe fire and the mother with lightning. But that's just my thoughts.
MHA :v
Youre thinking of Quirks in MHA
I’m just happy I was able to make a water semblance that wasn’t hydrokinesis
Ayy same!
Same. My whole team actually has element related semblances. Water has a fog cloud making one, wind has controlling her feathers, think Hawks from my hero academia, earth can pull rocks and such to her body, and fire can super heat his hands. I tried to make them all element related while not falling into the magic category, how do you think I did?
@@raineecho4005

Is it possible to do it with plants?
That is an achievement👏
4:00 Sounds so JoJo tho. Like that one that manipulated the perception of time for multiple people, so it’s like keeping them under an illusion.
Sounds like this girl I made that can manipulate Hard Light dust she touches
"Even with all the aura of every person in the world, stopping time would be..."
Jinn: Guess you forgot the end of Volume 6 eh?
Jinn is the spirit of the relic of knowledge created by a literal god, not really comparable in scale to Aura in my opinion lol
9:42 this reminded me of two OC semblances I made and now am taking into consideration:
I had an OC with a Crystallize semblance that crystallizes matter, part of me thought this was too strong and I took inspiration from Rumpole’s semblance of “Golden touch” how her semblance could transmutate atoms, my oc’s crystallize can collect and rearrange atoms to create crystals.
Secondly I was working on an OC with a semblance that did the opposite of Ren’s semblance, while Ren can hide emotion to become undetectable to grim my OC did the opposite. Her semblance is like a beacon to grimm, every grimm within the area will drop everything and target my
OC regardless of circumstances, I call this semblance “Provoke” or “grimm magnet” since it only works on grimm as for people they’ll feel a slight feeling of anger and aggression toward her.

The way you described a time-related semblance actually working is exactly what I would do if I made an OC
Imagining how this person interacts when his aura is shattered and people see him as he truly is and what that means for people who have seen his real form after his aura comes back up
I came up with a really cool one years ago
Object Perminance:
Once the user has contacted an object with the tips of his fingers on one hand, he can teleport to that object once thrown, however, when teleported he keeps his current pose and the teleported object is in one of his hands.
I’m sorry, but calling it “Vibe Check” sent me
It isn't multiple abilities tho.
Both of those abilities are still related to each other.
@@rabies481Yes. Yes, you did. And I think you for it
When creating my first RWBY oc, the character was your typical weak-semblance nobody looking for his big break, so I wanted a semblance that wouldn't pose a great threat in the usual sense, therefore, needing a loophole to make it effective in combat.
Would be useful for surprise attacks and public stealth attacks as no one will notice the snake tail go behind the person and strike with a dagger
Thanks, I feel I'm the only one who finds semblances the hardest to come up with sometimes. I've only come up with 2 semblances for my OC team haha

@@HHLucifer666 I have a similar problem. The wordplay comes easily to me, it's just figuring out what any of them do that's the issue.

Perfect timing.
I'm trying to flesh out the semblances of my OC team (as well as the nemesis and the protagonist's mentor).

Requires a clever mind to grasp the machines properly (This one may be overpowered)
Powder snow: Turn yourself into powder snow and simply let a hit pass through you. Can also be used to move thorugh small holes. Is very taxing and requires great skill to use since you can only turn yourself for about one second. Can at beast be used about five times a fight (Not sure about this one)
Any comments?
They go along with the weapons of the OCs.
Clone: Two sickle chains with guns, useful for pulling slicing and even blunt hits. Can be intrlocked to swing each other around. Useful when you fight with yourself as an ally.
Tech control: A tech backpack which can turn into most weapons
The other two don't really compliment their semblances
Wish I had this last year when I was making NFIN and GRFN. Though think I met all the criteria with them. Except Nyx, really pushing it with the phasing. Thanks for another excellent lesson Professor Phoenix!
So...in other words...my girl's Semblance is completely within the rules that go into the RWBY OC contest. Good to know.

You know, there's actually an Anime that does handle this use of time manipulation with the very same approach!

I would say they CAN "rewind" themself, (to dodge or even undo wounds) but it takes a huge aura drain just to get a few seconds of time back (Otherwise they could theoretically give themselves immortality by rewinding often enough to prevent aging)
An evolved form would probably gain a "fast forward" or "pause" function to freeze a target or speed it up.
If he had amazing aura control do you think he could freeze the actual aura of an aura shield?
Water dust isn’t a thing ice dust is though
@@MoussyDonuts I’m pretty sure water dust is a thing
@@miyamuration2866 he could at least weaken it quickly
Your channel is such a pure-hearted delight. Great video.
Thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot that you see my channel in such a positive way 😊
This helps out a lot on my fanfiction. thank you.
Glad I could help!
This will make a fine addition to my collection
my oc for rwby: has the semblance to defy physics
"so what do you do?"
"i defy physics by literally creating a small radius that affects objects"
"like what?"
"creating an anti gravity field"
"huh that's neat...why am i floating?"
"this some times happens"
I always had an idea of a Glitch semblance where the user can teleport wherever with pixels. Storywise, he would at first have some malfunction issues with his semblance, Glitching uncontrollably, but he got more used to using it and can not only teleport, but actually turn into the pixels, similar to Ruby's Petal Burst. This power is akin to that of Vanellope from Wrech it Ralph, Delsin from Infamous, and maybe like Tracer from Infamous.
I learnt alot from this and it helped me with my OCs semblance
Inner beast: this is linked with your temper (when your angry you let out the beast) you can expand there aura over there arms and legs making a more beast like limbs incuding claws fur and so forth but the angrier you get the more this aura take over when in use if you lose complete control of your anger your aura would create a aura beast surrounding you which is more savage where you have almost no control and you just need to wait for your aura runs out.
The arms and legs are easy to control your aura management but when you loose control you are a more feral beast rather then a person and it burns through your aura faster :)

I know what you’re getting at here, though she has a very versatile Semblance that can be used in multiple ways while characters with more simple abilities such as Elm there’s only really one way to use it, Glynda is one of the best Semblance users if not the best but the reason it would take longer to master is because it has a multitude of uses in and out of combat, where as let’s say we have someone who can turn invisible there’s only one way to use it in or out of combat it wouldn’t be that hard to master since there’s a very low skill floor and a pretty low skill ceiling
Thanks for making this series as its helped me make my RWBY OCs and with this one would go great for making my third one.
Three ideas:
Free-Body Diagram: A semblance that lets it's wielder see all of the forces acting on objects of their choice, how those forces affect it's movement, and thus predict where it will be over a given amount of time.
Also messing woth mass wouldn't let him be able to affectively steer his weapons.
i remember an oc i had once, Azureite Drossel, who had a semblance I called Dragon's Scale
essentially it took in heat and turned it into defensive power.
fire was the most effective way, but lightning dust can work too even though fire wouldn't effect her but lightning would leave burns and is weaker.
another character who's name I forgot could influence people's minds through subtle suggestion, but required eye contact.
i have many, many more. my favorite is "Curse" however that one is definantly broken seeing as its a glyph that gets placed on something and changes it's fundamental existence on the molecular level.
Really useful video Phoenix. It's helped me figure out how one of my OCs unlocked hers and how it works. Cheers and good luck judging the contest. Hope you liked my entry.
I’ve been waiting for this one for a while thanks so much for more rwby oc stuff man
I chose an semblance I dubbed, 'Eyes on me'.
So a Taunt , Nice
A super helpful guideline for OC creating in RWBY. Thanks!
Funny enough my first ever RWBY OC that I made back in 2013 had a time perception manipulation semblance.
Glad I could help!
Would you mind sharing them? 👀
Addition:
I imagine that if he were a part of the RWBYverse, hed probably carry alot of fire dust with him. or line his clothes with it, ala cinder.
@@KijinGG Ooooh, I see, thanks for sharing
@@simplyplague5465 no problem :)
My newest version of my main OC is Inspired by the Japanese God Izanagi no Okami or just Izanagi for short
He's the father of The Japanese fire god and the husband to Izanami the Japanese goddess of Death and the Underworld of Japan called Yomi (Land of the Dead in Japanese myth)
So I kinda went with my own thing with me and my friend’s semblances, but I did put reasonable limitations on them,
My semblance (well one of them, long story) is Atom Manipulation, it allows me to manipulate the atoms around me and create things, like my main weapon of choice, however my limitations are, if something can’t get enough atoms it can’t be created, if it’s something that is animate like say a human, I can’t create that, and if say a weapon I make takes enough hits or a hard enough hit, it disassembles back into atoms, I did this as to not make my semblance to op but also make it a bit fun to use.
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this (semblances are my kryptonite)
If I had a Semblance, it would be called ‘Dust Shroud’. An ability that can only be used in a dusty environment that can create light based energy shapes from that dirt.
If there’s no dirt, the Semblance can’t be used.
It’s called ‘Dust Shroud’ because the latter part makes it into both a barrier and flexible mass of light.
I had an idea where the OC’s semblances would create hallucinations based on the target’s current mood. Fun at parties and useful during a fight.
This video was great and helpful. I hope you like my semblance Phoenix
You know,I have some Semblances of Team STAR which his my Fanmade Team.
Joseph Sterling: His Semblance is Phantom,It allows him to Phase through Solid Objects and Attacks like a Ghost
Tom Malone: His Semblance is Blur Projection which he runs around creating After Image Clones of himself to confuse his Opponents
Avery Scott: His Semblance is Electro Touch and it allows him to Hack or Disrupt any Tech,Predict a person’s Movement and Create an Electric Net to Trap his Enemies or Grimm
Robert Yardley: His Semblance is Metal Alloy which he can turn himself into a Metal state and becoming an Unmoveable Object so he's basically like Ironhide from Transformers Animated
Also,Keep up the Good work.
vine's aura cloak may not be as strong as others
meanwhile, vine uses his aura cloak to stop a nuke
Two semblances I made were forge and dissent
Forge is a quirk where the creator can create objects from smaller matter by using the aura as a connection ( this is actually my oc's ability as he's based off the Celtic, japanese, and Russian myth of trickster animal merchants and he uses this semblance to make blades and objects for trading)
Dissent is a passive semblance that messes with the person's train of thought leading to more sporadic and nonsensical behavior
Ahhh nice! I already sent in my character but i am glad to see this!
I'm so glad I noticed this
You are an excellent RWBY-tuber!
1) the wielder my make physical contact with the person who they are going to copy, this activates the first part of Copy where the wielder draws in the Aura of their target into themselves
2) the wielder must understand how to use the copied semblance, this requires observing their target using their semblance first
3) the wielder has a limited amount of time to use the copied Semblance equivalent to how much of the targets Aura they have drawn into themselves, once that Aura has been depleted they are unable to use the targets Semblance until they draw in more of the targets Aura
4) can only start off copying a single Semblance, but with training and practice could possibly copy multiple Semblances at the same time but for shorter periods of time compared to a single one
My sixteen OC's semblances (That I will probably never use because I have no time....sadness):
Team Avocado:
Alabaster Linen: Equality (Allows the user to make the target experiance their own hits and attacks)
Volt Acid: Venomus Tip (makes everyything he touches poisonous and allows himself to be restistant to poison)
Olivine Privet: Ariadne's Threat (allows her to have a blueprint of a building in her mind once she has passed one part of it, like a tunnel)
Opal Blizzard: Volatile feelings (changes the temperture/climate of things she touches)
Team Pitch:
Phlox Harlequin: Mania Unleashed (can make his opponent go completly crazy for a certain amount of time)
Claret Aero (Alabaster is his twin so this is why their semblances are very similar): Vendetta (collects the energy of blows against him and stores them in his aura until he unleashes it all on one person)
Coral Falun: Without Fail (never misses her target)
Hunter Viridian: Forge's Touch (knows everything about a weapon when he is able to touch it)
Team Celadon:
Cedar Flame-Aramanth: Gentle Friend (Can calm down others trough touching them)
Leuce Onyx: Invisible Walls (can create invisible walls almost everywhere that can't be passed, not even by himself)
Alice Zaffle: Echo (Can use a fragment of the power of former opponents she managed to defeat)
Nyanza Moss: Final Stand (collects Aura of her teammates during a fight and sets it free in agiant energy blast once her Aura is broken)
Team Celeste:
Corvin Rich: Helm of Darkness (Has the ability to make people unable to move through looking at them)
Copper Blush: Lock Picking (can open any kind of lock through touching it and knows its mechanisim after that)
Lapis Lazuli: Night Fall (can make people fall asleep
Periwinkle Thullian: Blinding Lights (collects sunlight and can create a bright lighting strike to blind her opponent)
Me who thought the thumbnail was a new part in your OCs stories: IM DAY IS RUINED....
Im kidding. Good vid☺
Everyone’s semblance: *Godlike power*
My OC’s semblance: “Hey guys I have this parry shield that can parry any attack, but if the attack is too strong there can be consequences”
I have two rwby oc semblances that I'm unsure which would be better to use
First is
;; Quick Silver. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ ࿐ྂ
this semblance creates a liquid metal out of the user's aura this metal hardens quickly once out of her aura zone ,which is two arms lengths away, this aura metal is permanent once hardened unless the semblance holder touches it and turns it back into his aura which can recharge and somewhat heal the user.
Second is
;; gemanace. . . ⇢ ˗ˏˋ ࿐ྂ
This semblance allows the user to a harden crystal substance creating brief constructs ,such as sheilds, out of this substance they can break easy enough ,depending how much aura is put into the construct, but once broken the construction converts back into aura that slowly goes back into the user
Id also like to add then when thinking of a semblance keep a path of progression/evolution in mind, like how it will change and grow over time
