    Marrow was always so expressive and I loved his personality! His character was the most tolerable and the most likable of the Ace Ops. He never lost sight of the reason he truly became an Ace Op and stood up for what he knew was right. In the end, he turned out to be exactly what I had hoped he’d be:

    2:52 i love his lil tail wag when he sees ruby and penny before he stops because he realizes they shouldn't be there

    3:52 This part of the conversation really hits the big divide between Humans and Faunus. Robin, who is trying to make a positive difference in the Atlas/Mantle society separates the Faunus from the citizens in her own words, "My only goal is that all the citizens of Atlas and Mantle... and Faunus... have an equal shot a good life." I know that she doesn't treat Faunus different from Humans, as there is a Faunus in her band of happy huntresses whom she obviously cherishes, but it really is telling about the way Faunus is thought of in at least the kingdom of Atlas/Mantle. They're less than the citizens (Humans).

      @vecrb00 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what was seen in the series, in Atlas the social division between Humans and Faunus was very marked, something like the southern United States a century ago, contrary to the rest of the kingdoms, where the division between Humans and Faunus was not that marked

    Marrow, one of the three Ace Ops I actually like.

  • @MrGksarathy

    I honestly love Marrow as an exploration of how a person in the minority group navigates a system hostile to their very existence, first trying to change it from within, experiencing more and more disappointment as they perpetuate the injustices of the system towards their kind, and in the most unrealistic part of Marrow's character arc, eventually defects in disgust to do actual good.

    • @thestain8004
      @thestain8004 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      People with the right mindset understand that they have to be a part of the system to change the system but those people will always have a line that they simply won't cross, he was sitting on that line all the way through salem's invasion and ironwood pushed him way past that line once he threatened genocide. The defecting was both believable and insanely satisfying for me

    • @MrGksarathy
      @MrGksarathy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thestain8004 What I meant is that most people IRL in Marrow's position don't end up defecting or drawing a firm red line in the sand.
      Also, the most lasting change within the system has come from immense pressure from outside, competing systems of power and autonomy. Trying to change the system from within is of limited utility.

    Marrow should have turned to team RWBY a long time ago. He is still one of my favorite characters!

      Not really Ironwood was completely correct.

      @@anthonyjohnson6199 Why is that?

    • @anthonyjohnson6199
      @anthonyjohnson6199 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Rocketuber Because his goal was to keep Salem from getting the staff which would kill everyone but because of RWBY's childish mentality of "wErE hErOEs wE hAvE tO sAve EveRYoNe!!!" they basically forced him into getting involved with Mantle which ultimately ended with Salem getting the staff.
      Team RWBY were basically the villains of season 7 and 8.

      @@anthonyjohnson6199 Interesting take. I think I was I just saying that because of how Marrow looked at Weiss. Every single time he looked at Weiss/ the team, it looked almost as if he wanted to switch sides

    Speaking of the staff, why didn't they try to use it to create something to contain Salem?

    • @viviblue7277
      @viviblue7277 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Salem is capable of real magic. They don’t address this in much detail but there are more powerful spells that take longer to cast.
      These spells include things like stopping time and teleportation which makes it seem like the staff would be entirely ineffective at containing Salem, at least to Oz.
      We the audience know that the staff is perfectly capable of sending you to the Everafter where forces powerful enough to contain/permanently defeat Salem do exist. However, no one knew that prior to volume 9, not even Jin, as Jin only knows what the brothers know and what she has observed herself through her powers and the way semblances interact with the Everafter is beyond that scope. The thing Jin might know about, The Tree, is beyond manipulation being an omniscient somewhat divine presence that cannot be coerced into killing Salem, although if what many characters have said is correct Salem herself wants to die and thus The Tree would be an out but it would be Salem destroying herself and all of Oz’s questions missed this whole line of reasoning because he doesn’t know about the Everafter.
      Now if Jin truly knows everything the brothers do then she should be perfectly aware that both the Cat and the Jaberwok are fully capable of destroying Salem with help and/or surprise on their side but the brothers could have forgotten (they are very fallible) or just not filled in Jin to the secret lest Oz finds out he can cheat the whole trial for remnants fate thing by working with other magic immortal beings in another world.
      In short, only an outside viewer with all our extra information could be sure that the staff could defeat Salem and you’d need to know a lot to get the staff to do it.
