    Before you ask, yes, I uploaded this video previously. Unfortunately it got accidentally deleted and thus I had to re upload it. I'm sorry for any confusion this is caused.

    Ha! I found it! This is the video that led me to your channel. It was two days old. My grandad retired from BNSF around the same time the SD70s first started coming online. Just wanted to say thank you for all the awesome information you've shared. I can't wait to see your layout all finished up, I know it'll be beautiful.

    I use a silver sharpie on the ends of the MU cables so they stand out in contrast to the rest of the black body. Great video

    You should do a running session one day, I'd like to see multiple trains go around the layout! Great videos, by the way!

      I intend to do so once the expansion of my layout has all the track installed and wired and I can run end-to-end again.

    Hi Ron
    Great review and if I was running modern i would defently buy some Broadway SD70ace.
    They are a good product and as i have found out there back up and repair service is second to none.
    My AC6000CW failed, one not along after I got it and the other one 15 months after i got it.
    Sent back and repaired at their cost no questions asked.
    Cheers
    Darren

    BLI uses CV 120 for Speed Step Smoothing. Default is 25, but some locos benefit from setting to 2 to 10. Others work fine without adjustment. No idea why.

    It's so strange watching someone regularly handling N-Scale stuff. It's so little!
    I like the way you do reviews though, it's very candid and doesn't feel super scripted.

    Hey Ron! Nice review as usual.
    You mentioned that you had to perform a factory reset more than once. It would serve us better if BLI found a way to put the button for the reset under the radiator section that pops off.
    YMMV.

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but I didn't use the button. I reset CV 8 to a setting of 8 to factory reset.

    I always set CV6 to half CV5 and find all my locos run smoothly. I'm in UK so maybe your main electric supply could be a cause being 60Hz not 50Hz like ours.

    Here it is two years later, but I gotta get this pet peeve said, about none of my Kato Union Pacific locomotives having white handrails at the fore and aft steps. My one Atlas #9414 C40-8W has white stair rails, as does my Fox Valley ES44 #5405. But all of my Kato UP SD70ACes, ES44ACs, SD70Ms, GPs and SD40s have grey handrails from stem to stern. And now even BLI puts grey handrails on your UP SD70ACe?! Tsk, Tsk. At least my two BLI CSX AC6000s have correct handrails, AND fine wire grab rails on their noses.

    I'd be happy to own either of these locomotives. Were you restricted as to how much running you were allowed to do? I see a lot of TH-cam reviews where the loco never gets a run or moves about twelve inches at best!

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark. Good question. In the case of these locomotives, I got to keep them. Even with locomotives that I reviewed and had to return I've never been restricted as to amount of run. The phenomenon you mention is probably due mostly to ease of video shooting--It is easier to film in one location rather than moving equipment and shooting multiple shots. That would be the case with me.

    • @markarnold8160
      @markarnold8160 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ron. It's a bit like Ebay when the seller says 'runs well in both directions'......yep cos it didn't jump off your check rails on that turnout as it never got that far. I love to see a loco run for a few feet - makes me more convinced to buy one.

    Someone mentioned that the BLI locos, steam and diesel have traction tires. But I looked at my BLI locos and I do not believe they have traction tires. Is there something special about their metal wheels or do some not have traction tires?

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some of their steam locos have traction tires. These diesels do not.

    I have bought two of these. One works fine,
    The loco runs great but then stops/stalls sound is still on it sounds like it’s slowing down and then stops, I can put it up a notch and it continues moving. This happens at any speed on any track anywhere on the layout. I have already reset the decoder to factory defaults. And it does the same thing again.
    Please if anyone can help that would be appreciated!! Even if it’s screwed and I’ve got to send it back thanks!
    Sorry for posting here, but MRR won’t let me comment anymore.

    Hey Ron, love your videos.. They've helped a lot.. Just getting into the hobby.. Had a quick question.. I would love to purchase this style of locomotive, but I'm confused.. A website I was looking at said it will run on code 55, 70, 83, and 100.. But it's listed as N- Scale.. Am I missing something here? Because that sounds like HO Scale? I have Atlas Code 80 track.. Will this locomotive work on it? I don't wanna purchase it, and find out, it won't work.. Please give me an answer, when you get time, I'd super appreciate it.. Thank you!!! I just want to model my railroad off of BNSF, that is local to my area, here in Pierce County Washington State.. Lol..

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The code listing you mentioned is definitely HO, but yes, these N scale locos will run perfectly well on code 80 track.
