- In this video, I delve into Tom Ford Ébène Fumé, a fragrance that embodies a Hollywood rendition of timeless manliness. Ébène Fumé captivates with its smoky, woody character, exuding an air of rugged sophistication and confidence. The scent opens with a powerful blend of incense and black pepper, transitioning into a heart of rich ebony wood and leather, and finishes with a base of balsamic resins and warm amber. I'll discuss its exceptional longevity, impressive sillage, and how it evolves on the skin, making it a quintessential choice for those seeking a bold, cinematic fragrance that leaves a lasting impression.

FINALLY someone says it. 😂 I got more than a little flack last decade (and still do) for saying that the TF bottles were basically dollarstore quality, so yours is a welcome opinion Dan. 😁 Haven't changed my position. As for the scent, only got to try it on a test strip and wasn't impressed at all. I'm a huge fan of many of the classics, but after 2018 the brand became somewhat of a joke to me. Harsh I know, but business is business.
@@justaddlight to me it’s just a fun Hollywood rendition of a man. Nothing to be missed and way overpriced at the msrp. Thanks for you continued support (Squid is coming next 😉)
Though to be fair they’re still 100 times better than Andy Tauers which have the worst atomisers ever even though they’re around $250 a bottle !
@@nathanthomas5133 maybe, but Andy is bottling in his basement, Tom Ford has a massive production chain with low cost per unit.
This is actually one of my favorite tom ford fragrances. Obviously never pay retail though. TF pricing is insane.
@@EndersFPS I think it’s really fun!
I prefer Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero to Ebene Fume (Extrait de Parfum). Similar type of fragrance but I find Laudano Nero richer and more transportive. The hint of black honey sweetness also adds to the depth and balance. Longevity and projection are also great. In the US I can find it for just about $100 for 100ml which is a solid value.
@@silverfox311 with Ebene Fume specifically I’m not looking for the high quality found in other niche houses. I think that part of the special effect this has is from the cheesy American Hollywood approach.
I’ll check out the TT though, don’t have much experience with the house
Weirdly when i got my first ever Tom Ford private blends (when they first launched) the caps were glass, after the initial launch they switched to plastic. EL has plenty of cash - no reason they couldn’t put decent atomisers onto these !
Was passing through a store today & passed the Tom Ford counter which had 5 groups of teenagers there , both male & female, smelling everything so the TF brand does seem to still appeal to the teen market !
@@nathanthomas5133 it’s a super cool brand, I really applaud their style, it’s why I get excited for every new release!
Didn’t know about the caps, thanks for pointing it out
Not trying to be gratuitously gross or hyperbolic, but to my nose, something in Ebene Fume's dry down smells like vomit. Don't know why.
@@specialed.2461 🤣🤣
That made me laugh, I can’t lie 🤣🤣
So weird! What reminds you of vomit? I think this is pretty safe and mass appealing!
I really love your approach to reviewing fragrances where you focus on the vibes. Because ultimately that’s what matters! Keep up the great work 🙏🏽
@@Amir-gb6es thanks for the appreciation, keeps me going 🙂
Totally Agree with you on the M7 comments, same thing for me with Gucci pour Homme I (the 2003 one directed by Tom Ford), this has the Old Tom Ford DNA in it. But hard to justify paying the asked price for a private blend for this one !
@@Itsmemulder very hard! Only on discounters!
It’s a great fragrance. The issue is that it’s not a summer or warm weather fragrance. Wear this in cold weather and you will see what it can really do.
@@Writer341 I don’t see this as an issue, I wore this until mid spring (it’s fresh here till May) and it worked great. Looking forward to fall to give it more time 😉
really liked it as well but it had terrible longevity on me. And 280€ for 50ml is not justified at all.
@@komm13 at 280 absolutely not. I payed 153 and I get pretty decent longevity (6hish) so I’m not hating it 🙂
I can't bring myself to pay full price for a TF fragrance, and have only bought them at half price. 😄 I have this one and quite like it, although longevity is not great on me. Great review, Daniel.
@@dcjimr1 never pay full price for Tom Ford! I get pretty good longevity on this, no idea why 🙂
I dont find any similarities to m7. However i find ebene fume as tom fords answer to interlude man, they give me a similar idea, ofc interlude blended better and overall higher quality and way more powerful.
My resime of TF private blend is. Notoriously high price, awfully cheap presentation, cheap atomisers, boring blends and average performance. To me this brand is buried and gone. There are some offerings i do appreciate but i am a person who does not repurchase bottle ever, so i already finished with those interesting fragrances or i am close to finish my bottles.
@@Principemostprincipe I have no idea what M7 actually smells like, it’s been about 20 years now for me. I just remember the sense of wonder that M7 gave me, compared to most other stuff on the shelves at least.
Don’t smell Billie Eilish no. 2. That totally ruined it for me. I used to love this scent, but no. 2 made it immediately smell cheap to me.
@@kingerfd3341 now I’m curious 😜
I found this fragrance okay in terms of paying the price. For what this costs I think I can do better.
@@richardbaptist5080 totally agree. This is really unnecessary and you have to be into Tom Ford to even appreciate it.
this is some interesting approach to review fragrances, like your style! and love ebene fume for sure!
@@sinestesio I’m glad I’m not just another channel reading notes 🙂
I like discovering stuff and interpreting the language of perfumes .
Had it and traded it. Not that it was bad but I have a lot of other woody fragrances, all cheaper , that were as good or better to my nose. What's good about most Tom Fords is that they make great trades and traded it for Rosa Creation-E.
@@carlgranados7106 you make a really good point. One of the reason I cycle through Tom Fords is that they are an easy and sought after trade 👍👍👍
its literally a campfire smell, nothing more, nothing less
I like the campfire image, I can see that 🙂
I have never been too sure about to fragrances may be because they are not worth it to me as the niche houses have spoiled me pretty badly when it comes to performance and uniqueness
@@ra.j7210 true, you have to take this one as it is: a high-end designer with a lot of character. As I said in the review, it’s a Hollywood version of a manly scent. I love it
@@SeldomlyOftenI will certainly sample it
Great analysis about the fragrance. I really enjoy Ébène Fumé and I‘m happy that there’s now a really well articulated video about it. I got the 10ml travel atomizer about 7 months ago and find myself returning to using the fragrance really often. It’s one of the fragrances that I totally enjoy myself wearing as it brings me into a totally different vibe. And I understand the classic hollywood aspect you’re mentioning.
I also prefer it to Oud Wood, which smells great the first time, but gets a bit boring over time in my opinion. Ébène Fumé smells very special to me each time I wear it.
@@EinYTKanal Oud Wood is also good and a Tom Ford staple. It’s incredible how my opinions have changed in time. I use to think that Oud Wood was this crazy exotic thing 🙂
@@SeldomlyOften True! It‘s crazy how the noise adapts so fast when driving more into the world of fragrances. Keep on with the great work. I‘m happy about discovering your channel
@@EinYTKanal Thanks :)

It’s a solid scent but I do prefer Myrrhe Mystère, similar scent profile to Ébène Fumé but much sweeter. Perfect winter scent in my opinion.
@@Tyl1000 thanks for the recommendation, I’ll try to get a sniff next time I see it at a shop 👍
TF recently discontinued a lot of the 250ml decanters. I picked up a 250ml decanter of Myrrhe Mystere for £190 - crazy that i could buy 250ml for less than half the price of a 50ml bottle !
@@nathanthomas5133 the 250ml don’t have an atomizer right? That might be a reason for the lower appeal?
@@nathanthomas5133 That’s an amazing deal the 50ml’s alone cost £290! Where did you purchase it? I’d love to pick up one if there’s any still available lol.
I got this as a gift but I remember this was like a niche version of CK reveal or similar too Ani by nishane
@@IrregularTangent huh, Ani is a citrusy vanilla thing, quite different to my nose. I guess the cartoonish concept behind it could be similar.
@@SeldomlyOften on the top notes yeah I can see that but the dry down it has a particular match with it. But gateway to niche haha I like that phrase. Love the content fratello
Great, honesty 👊
@@rogerlid2118 thanks so much, I have no gain to be dishonest and I plan on keeping it that way
