Best thing about Aaron, is how positive he is. Every video he starts by saying I’m feeling fantastic! If I was to say how I’m feeling, it would probably be something like: I’m feeling …. Ammm… I’m not really sure…
As always, great review, I was in two minds, but your decision over the projection, and being flat has pushed onto Tobacco Oud instead. Thanks again Aaron
I really like this scent. I bought a bottle and don't regret paying the price. It performs excellent on my skin, it's unfortunate to hear that you're not getting the same projection. I like that it's smoky in a very casual and wearable way. I've surprisingly gotten multiple unsolicited compliments. That said, I can see why you rated it the way that you did. While nice, it is missing a certain spark to make it something special.
This is the reason why I love Aaron's reviews, he (as well as I) is a Tom Ford fan (fragrances) but it's not ashamed to point it's faults, actually was sad and dissapointed. Altough the smell was actually good, but I can say and Aaron will probably agree, that we are seriously waiting for a ground breaking fragrance from Tom Ford, like Oud Wood, Tobacco Vainille and such...
@@AaronTerenceHughes I think you are right. It seems like ever since Estee lauder acquired his company they seem become more focused on the general commercial market as opposed to the fragrance enthusiasts. Opening scent wasn't my taste but after 4-5 hours I love it, absolutely gorgeous and sexy, very woody and slightly floral with amber and vanilla on my skin. Wears different on everyone, close match for me was cafe rose 🌹
I’d advise anyone to buy this perfume. It’s worth its price. I wore this perfume before going to work, everyone was staring at me in the train(those close to me and at an acceptable distance) not only it smells nice but it’s strong. I did my 8hr shift with my employer and on my way home the perfume was still smelling on on me. Buy this perfume, you won’t regret at all.
I tested this fragrance a month ago, and I gotta say I'm surprised you didn't get a good projection, Aaron. 2 sprays, and this stuff just radiated like an absolute monster on me. I fell in love immediately.
Aaron is the only person I listen to - he's to the point and honest - but obviously it depends if other people likes fragrances that he is not keen on, but I find he's usually correct in all he tests.... thank god for this lovely honest talented man xx
It takes a couple videos to be able to follow Aaron's in-depth explanations. Once you are able to fully follow his thought process, you start to judge even your own frags at home the same way!
Maybe it's an American or millennial thing, but palo santo is a very popular incense smudge, in the form of lightly colored chips of the branch. Has been used forever in Central America, and is pretty expensive, relative to other wood derived oils. I quite like Ebene Fume and find it projects just as much as I want it to.
Aaron, your layering tip was spot-on, brought out my other TF while watching and tried it with oud wood and its amazing. I did also try layering with the discontinued Arabian Wood and Ombre leather, but oud wood combo is beautiful. Thanks for the tip, great review.
I love the smell of this ebene fume, It reminds me of copal, a ceremonial and cleansing tree resin that is burnt for ceremonial purposes (Oaxaca, Mexico) for me its cleansing and projects beautifully, not as much as id want to though, on my skin. I been layering it recently with Santal Blush! its funny you brought that up, but as you say, they are similar enough to layer (EF first and then SB) and it gives it that needed extra "umph", that projection and its amazing. Then again for the price, as you worded it, youd expect it to be complete. I love it and would recommend you to try it, and if you see this comment, let me know what you think! I love your videos and as they are raw and unbiased from a pro perspective. i would love to see a review on Bois Dargent by Dior in their private collection, this one is my absolute favorite!
New Microphone Aaron? The auido in your videos now is to die for. The backround is just so clean and there is no echo what so ever. Sounds like a professional sound booth. I don't own any Tom Ford perfumes but I once tried fucking fabulous and while I liked it, it caused me way too much nostalgia, almost melancholy emotions. It was actually a bit of an emotional ordeal! So I'm nervous of going back to Tom Ford. Probably seems crazy to most people but maybe you understand.
I get good projection and over 10 hours of wear time, so for me it's a great stand alone signature scent! With everybody saying this would be a skin scent I debated it but seems like my skins is built for it.
Ebony wood synthetic or Ebonol generally combines well with Capcican or Cappuccino or or dandelion root. It doesn't yield an essential oil and is pretty much dead weight won't float.
I can't remember which TF private blend it was but it's in a white bottle. Opening was so sexy , like cigarette smoke and soft florals. Sounds nasty ,but my goodness.
same here, I got into this fragrance hobby because of tom fords Gucci Pour Homme 1. but am still getting Ebene Fume though lol. few other people have mentioned London and GPH1. but if it's closer to London then even better because i've been wanting London for many years. I'm not that bothered about the projection because not all fragrances are about that. like Chanel Pour Monsieur for an example love that scent but its not a beast mode.
It would be real interesting if Tom Ford hired you to work with the perfumer, to create your take on that fragrance. And then the original and the "Ebony fume 2" were both put on the marked and we could see which of them sold best.
Very honest and very good review Aaron! For fragrances at that price range it will always be tough, because as a customer you have high expectations and therefore it can quickly disappoint :/ Keep doing what you do Aaron!!! 👍👍👍
I think a lot of TF is overpriced, unfortunately 😞 But also have a great scent too. I actually be onest, lost cherry and better peach is too lot of many 😑
I was laughing my ass off watching this, it was pretty in line with what I thought about it, minus adding smoke, I just want it to be more projecting and performing
Fun video as always! At the start when you were reading the notes you said you don't know what "Palo Santo" is. Turns out Palo Santo is an alternate name for "healing wood", which you mentioned at the end. I've seen Palo Santo listed as a note in a couple different fragrances.
Oh right I go on what suppliers sell ot to me as! Healingwood or Terpinless Patchouli! I also struggle with the full INCI names as I short hand everything! Like T-Ace Is Terpinol Acetate. Gax is Gaxolide. I do so many variations that its quicker to write down the short hand and when you scale up the correct INCI
