I honestly prefer the Legends version of how Sidious found Maul, because it leaves things more open for interpretation.
In the Plagueis novel, Palpatine seems more uncertain about what to do about Plagueis in the end. For most of the book, he willingly works alongside him and executes his plans. It leaves you wondering if Palpatine really intended to betray Plagueis from the beginning, or if he was, at first, willing to follow Plagueis' plan for them to rule the galaxy together. Only betraying and killing his Master when he saw the opportunity.
It's more open to speculation.

It's really good! It doesn't go into his childhood or anything, but it shows him on a mission right before his "skill are complete" and takes place before Phantom Menace.
@@michaelhatfield2544 yeah it's excellent, my second favorite fan film, Vader fan film being my number 1 favorite.. But it's not cannon, believe he's referring to a canonized film.. Although I'd honestly prefer a 10 to 15 episode 1 shot, 1 season series, that could go more in depth than a 2 hour film.. Starring Ray Park towards the end when he's grown

Palpatine raised Maul from infancy in legends. He invested way more time in training him than any of his other apprentices. Maul was a devoted follower assassin who knew the overall Sith plan was more important than himself

I would like to see you make that video about how Palpatine met Maul in cannon.
the legends story seems to mirror anakin’s arc in being found by qui-gonn - maul’s arc being dictated entirely by the dark side with his night sister heritage and the anger he developed from his brutal upbringing by the sith as a sort of perversion of anakin’s story in which the light (or at least neutral) force at least brought anakin to the light side for many years and during his dying breath. maul only grew in blind rage whereas anakin oscillated between sides and chose the light.
