Maul actually didn't die. He faked his death so he could escape the grip of the emperor and focus on a career outside of being an assassin. He has since pursued acting and has landed big roles in movies like Insidious and Insidious 2. Congrats to him for getting his life together!
Maul was one of the top characters and was way more marketable than even kylo ren. You just knew he was gonna kill somebody with his appearance and dbl bladed lightsaber..

My opinion.. Darth Maul should’ve been Sidious’ apprentice in all the 3 Prequel films.. and Have Anakin fight and beat Darth Maul to take his place as Sidious’ new apprentice.. that would’ve been a bad ass fight and a far better plot!!!

Who cares? the way that the Clone Wars had ended on its final six season on Netflix 6 years ago was perfect as it went straight into Revenge of the Sith from there. the fact that Disney plus felt the need to put on at seventh season after all these years just didn't make any sense considering how perfectly the series it already ended in a perfectly it built up to Revenge of the Sith there for the existence of this new season was completely pure greed and unnecessary.
I'd say Maul had the most potential of any Sith, he started off strong enough to defeat a jedi master and nearly beat Obi-wan (that win was a fluke to be honest), then he spends what over 10 years as a robot-spider thing? No training happening here, he lost his mind while everyone else was training, yet he still was Obi-wan's equal when they met again, imagine if Maul had atleast escaped Naboo, and kept training under sidius? I don't think Sidius would even want Vader at that point.

I would love to see a Obi Wan Kenobi Trilogy with Darth Maul as the main villain throughout the trilogy. It would be amazing to see Maul try to attack Luke's aunt and uncle while he's a baby and having Obi Wan Kenobi save the family thus giving them a reason to keep Luke away from Obi Wan Kenobi and to want Luke to have a simple life.

I feel like Maul had similar powers to Sion he managed to survive without legs for multiple months on a planet wit many dangers, and being insane, and still surviving. not many could do that. I personally think that Maul could have survived the strike from Obi Wan, but he accepted his time was over, and died.
Based on what you said, only Mace Windu could have taken Maul one on one. Mace studied a force technique I was not aware of. He could turn darkside energy back on its user. Meaning the more his opponent used the darkside for power, the stonger Mace got. It's how Mace defeated Sidious.

I read from another fan that his force powers were also weakened just like Vader's, when he got cut in half by Obi Wan. If this is true then, it implies that Darth Maul had a lot of missed potential but yet was still fairly powerful from what we've seen in the tv shows.

Maul had less than a year to accumulate that power, Sidious had twelve-thirteen, and that was after he got such a power boost from killing Plagueis. And not even that, but this is Maul after losing his initial potential, he would be growing even more powerful even faster because he lost roughly half of his planned potential after his bisection. I hope that I've helped people understand Maul's extreme potential and how powerful he could've been.

Also Maul's acrobatic martial arts fighting style combined with his outfit/look and behaviour (at least in the movie) is very close to the DBZ Vegeta and the rage developed by him.

He is my favourite villian in Star Wars. Although I don't think that he needs an own movie. His character was built from almost nothing but a cool lightsaber, His way of thinking, his motivations, his acts are understandable for almost everyone. I'm glad to have such a complete in villian in SW universe, a spin-off movie could ruin him, if it's bad. And his death was not "simple" I recommend everyone who sees it that way to watch The Phantom Menace fight scene again.

I've always felt that to some significant extent, Anakin was overhyped Darth Vader not so quite, as he had even more experience than 'Anakin' did, a far greater refinement of his force-control powers, and true mastery of lightsaber combat Anakin on the other hand, was impulsive, arrogant, and haughty, had the Jedi not been embroiled in a War (with many if not most of their most powerful members very, very far away from the Temple, or already Dead, i.e. Windu was betrayed by Anakin), I doubt that Anakin and the Stormtroopers would have been able to take the Temple Imagine trying to take down ALL of the Jedi Masters, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Windu, and the entire rest of the Order, simultaneously, even with an Army (it just wouldn't end well) I don't doubt that a retreat would be necessary (more likely a strike force against The Emperor would occur, with many of the most talented Jedi going to take him out while the rest hold off and begin evacuations), but all the same, I'm not so sure that the gambit would have worked. Given the sheer numbers that the Clones possessed (soon to be rebranded), it would be inevitable that the Jedi could not win a conventional War, but they certainly could have held off their numbers for quite some time, more than enough for the Chancellor, the would-be Emperor, to be taken out, and new orders assessed to the Clones.

Maul is my favorite Sith, the Vader is a close second. Would be cool to see an alternate reality where anakin doesnt get burned alive, and his body remains in tact while still succumbing to the dark side. Maybe it could be portrayed in some sort of flash back sequence that may have a different outcome due to certain circumstances in the story at that time. Idk would be cool! Running around with Anni as Vader with his black saber hilt and red kyber crystal. Damn thatd be awesome, wouldnlike to see a very main role type prominent Jedi.. or even just a force user who's nor good or bad, nor Jedi or Sith, find himself amongst the war between the two, and sides with the Jedi eventually, wielding a purple L Saber and a orange one also. 2 very rare colors to have, showing a rare individual, both purple and orange are half red, maybe this could point towards the wilder, being balanced with both sides of the force and not teetering towards either.
Maul wasn't probably better than Vader , but he was probably the best duelist in the whole movie. Sadly he died way too early and they didn't show much of him. Would of been so cool to see how he was trained and lived a bit longer.
You should do a video on what would have happened if Anakin never fell in love with Padme. That'd be really interesting because she's one of the main reasons he became a Sith Lord.
Mace Windu would arrest Palpatine for not returning democracy after the clone wars and even have Yoda with him to help him arrest Palpatine in case he would attack them, and yes he attacked them, but they cut his limbs and brought him to court and then execute him
I stand with a rare few who believe that maul would utterly demolish Vader. Vader is a character who is totally over estimated namely for being the main character. Vader may be the main character of the SW:OT but many people forget that he is a flawed character. case in point Anakin in his prime had a pure connection to the force but was undisciplined therefore flawed and weak. later Vader became disciplined but lost his pure connection to the force with the loss of his limbs. Vader would have been unstoppable if these 2 sides were 1, I believe that Maul was 1 step below the total of what Vader could have been. the only thing that preventing that was the pure connection from being born of the force.
Omniscient Being if you are going by expanded universe then maybe but in the movies alone he's useless he does next to nothing and he is so insignificant they never bring him up again he was tragically underused and wasted he did nothing but look cool now if he was the villain throughout the prequel trilogy instead of killing get him in his first appearance like vador was the villain of the original trilogy it would of been 10th more interesting just replace all of count doku role in episode 2 and 3 and give it to maul instead including the force lightning in the first one he was an apprentice and the years between 1-2 he could of spent all of his haterid of obi wan for what he did training bettering him self for round 2 and during that end battle in episode 2 give all of do us powers to him and that would nog gave him an arc and he would of became more powerful from learning new skills and tricks hell darth maul was killed by a padawon while vador hunted down nearly every powerful and none powerful judo and killed them all except for a hand full vador would destroy him just force choke him and he is done there isn't a person in that series that has survived a full on force choke a skill maul does not have and with this force choke he can snap a person's neck in an instant so he just use this ability on maul and he's done
@don birkinshaw everything I stated was in the movies. um Maul killed Gui-gon 1 on 1, and Gui-gon was second in lightsaber combat only to Mace Windu and yoda (yes that's true, mace was yoda's equal.) I agree that Maul was tragically under used, my point is compared to Vader Maul as a whole (no pun intended) is vastly more powerful than Vader, because Vader is 2 separate people. first is Anakin a whinny kid with a prodigy like gift but no focus, discipline, or training. second is Vader wiser version of the kid, only more trained but lack of connection to the force he once possessed as a kid. Vader is strong with telekinesis, so is maul as a matter of fact what we see is better than vader's ability. I don't remember seeing vader use the force in the middle of a fight without stopping, also maul's precision is uncanny. you are trying to point out that maul was defeated by a padawan, that is not what happened not even close. Maul was a sith assassin that took 2 jedi to defeat and even then the defeat we saw was Obi-wan using the dark side to gain an advantage when he didn't have one. now we have Maul in SW rebels so we know that Obi-wan didn't actually kill maul. but maul still killed Gui-gon. but I can't argue that maul didn't really do anything but look cool, but what he did do was better in every way. in my opinion of course lol.

And no vador is more powerful with force ability except force lightning and it's not that he's not powerful enough to use it he is powerful enough it's just that with him being made mostly out of metal and robot parts it would be a bad idea to use it and he would light up like a Christmas tree. vador is stronger with the force and maul is stronger with the lightsabor then most sith he would do so during battle didn't you watch rouge one where he sloughted all those people by throwing them all other the place and through ceiling and a wall and in empire strikes back in his fight with luke he picked up so much heavy shit a round him and even heavy stuff that was nailed down and throws them at luke several heavy objects at once some that was strapped down some not and hurled them at him with out even trying in the fight he wasn't using his full power or in return of the Jedi not even close when he lost round 2 because he didn't want to kill him just toy with him and ruff him up a bit and even then in those fights he wasn't using even close to half of his power to fight and lift heavy stuff at the same time. and rebels dont count I said only movies because those are the ones the general public knows I know maul is a lot better in TV shows and expanded universe but we are going strictly by the movies here and maul was so insignificant to the overall story that he never gets mentioned again not even in the other 2 prequels or on the other movies but I can give a pass for the original movies not mentioning him because maul wasn't even thought of back then when the original trilogy was being made so I let that slide but that doesn't change the fact in the Intiraty of the prequal trilogy he is never mentioned again that's how little impact he made to the story which is sad because he could of been a very good well thought out villi an of the prequal trilogy but because they didn't do that with him Intiraty can't pretend they did so what we have in the movies of maul is a complete joke he's not even a full character he is so 1 dimension in the movie he does nothing but stand around, have two lines of dialogue and has a quick little fight at the end you do no not takes more then a good fight to make a good villain you need character development backstory, character arc a reason to side with him a good motivation anything other then two lines of dialogue and fight he doesn't get no exposure I would of much prefer it if they removed most of jar jars blocks Un relevant Ness and that big space battle where anikain accidently destroys the mother ship base and give these bits of screen time to developing maul the villain of the movie but no they don't and and just makes him a boring waste of ptetentual because he had nothing to work with all he did I have a cool fight and lightsabor it takes more then that to be a good character so much so he's jot a character he's a plot device he is only there because oh its star wars movie and their needs to be a lightsabor fight no real reason for it just shove it in their maul annoys me most in the movies because in one "character" it represents the pretual all the prequal movies could of had his it was good, better thought out and better writing for the characters and story considering those two things are the important not flashy fight scenes fight seens are the icing on the cake if if the cake is shit, discussting and poorly made the icing isn't going going to help much sorry this was a bit of a long one I had a lot to say

Don Birkinshaw are you refering to the scene in revenge of the sith where Anakin shows up at the jedi temple with a legion of clone troopers? yeah...that scene was Anakin killing young-lings and jedi teachers NOT jedi masters and I am sure the clones didn't just sit around playing sabaac. the jedi masters were fighting the war and were killed in order 66 by clone troop commanders not anakin. the ending scene in rogue one, yeah Vader is undoubtedly slaughtering non-jedi. but all Vader is really doing is reflecting blaster shots, either with his lightsaber or with the force like he did to Han solo on bespin. also to my point Vader stops in the middle of combat to force choke a dude and throw him back when in the phantom menace we see Maul hurl a droid head at a control panel to open the blast doors while still fighting 2 full on Jedi. Vader may have held back in his duels with luke, but vader didn't want luke dead first off and second luke wasn't fully trained so it isn't a good gauge for how powerful vader was.
That’s actually the reason I never followed through with the rest of the films. They continuously built up a character just to kill them in a quick, stupid ass way. It was honestly just that the entire series.
I think Maul was more powerful than Vader after episode 3 because Vader was not as powerful as he was in 3. If we were talking about Vader from episode 3, then it would be a totally different story.

Mattphillips 0516, I disagree because Maul was much faster, and even though Maul's force abilities were not as great as Vader's, he used most of his force abilities to enhance his speed and physical capacities. Maul is also very aggressive, and would not tire. This would lead to Vader slowing down, and Maul would be able to catch Vader off guard, delivering the fatal blow.

In sixth grade I read some Darth Maul book by Rhyder Windham. I loved it some much that Maul became my favorite character. I had already loved him from the first film, but this cemented it. I keep a foam head in my room that I painted with his markings and call "Mall" just to tease him.

I'd say Maul had the most potential of any Sith, he started off strong enough to defeat a jedi master and nearly beat Obi-wan (that win was a fluke to be honest), then he spends what over 10 years as a robot-spider thing? No training happening here, he lost his mind while everyone else was training, yet he still was Obi-wan's equal when they met again, imagine if Maul had atleast escaped Naboo, and kept training under sidius? I don't think Sidius would even want Vader at that point.

I would love to see a Obi Wan Kenobi Trilogy with Darth Maul as the main villain throughout the trilogy. I read from another fan that his force powers were also weakened just like Vader's, when he got cut in half by Obi Wan. If this is true then, it implies that Darth Maul had a lot of missed potential but yet was still fairly powerful from what we've seen in the tv shows.
Had Sidious actually completed Maul's training, he would've become more powerful than Sidious by a seriously high degree. Maul held greater potential than Mother Talzin, who rivaled Sidious' power: "When Sidious realized Maul's potential, he took him away from me and trained him as a Sith." This comes from the Canon Son of Dathomir comic issue #3. In the -- now Legends -- book Maul Lockdown, Sidious further confirms Maul's potential: "I alone grasp your true potential." I hope that I've helped people understand Maul's extreme potential and how powerful he could've been.

I've always felt that to some significant extent, Anakin was overhyped
Darth Vader not so quite, as he had even more experience than 'Anakin' did, a far greater refinement of his force-control powers, and true mastery of lightsaber combat
Anakin on the other hand, was impulsive, arrogant, and haughty, had the Jedi not been embroiled in a War (with many if not most of their most powerful members very, very far away from the Temple, or already Dead, i.e. Windu was betrayed by Anakin), I doubt that Anakin and the Stormtroopers would have been able to take the Temple
Imagine trying to take down ALL of the Jedi Masters, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Windu, and the entire rest of the Order, simultaneously, even with an Army (it just wouldn't end well)
I don't doubt that a retreat would be necessary (more likely a strike force against The Emperor would occur, with many of the most talented Jedi going to take him out while the rest hold off and begin evacuations), but all the same, I'm not so sure that the gambit would have worked. Given the sheer numbers that the Clones possessed (soon to be rebranded), it would be inevitable that the Jedi could not win a conventional War, but they certainly could have held off their numbers for quite some time, more than enough for the Chancellor, the would-be Emperor, to be taken out, and new orders assessed to the Clones.

Maul is my favorite Sith, the Vader is a close second. Would be cool to see an alternate reality where anakin doesnt get burned alive, and his body remains in tact while still succumbing to the dark side. Maybe it could be portrayed in some sort of flash back sequence that may have a different outcome due to certain circumstances in the story at that time. Idk would be cool! Running around with Anni as Vader with his black saber hilt and red kyber crystal. Damn thatd be awesome, wouldnlike to see a very main role type prominent Jedi.. or even just a force user who's nor good or bad, nor Jedi or Sith, find himself amongst the war between the two, and sides with the Jedi eventually, wielding a purple L Saber and a orange one also. 2 very rare colors to have, showing a rare individual, both purple and orange are half red, maybe this could point towards the wilder, being balanced with both sides of the force and not teetering towards either.

Maul wasn't probably better than Vader , but he was probably the best duelist in the whole movie. Sadly he died way too early and they didn't show much of him. Would of been so cool to see how he was trained and lived a bit longer.

Mace Windu would arrest Palpatine for not returning democracy after the clone wars and even have Yoda with him to help him arrest Palpatine in case he would attack them, and yes he attacked them, but they cut his limbs and brought him to court and then execute him
But Palpatine wouldn't have revealed himself to Anakin if there was no Padme. Palpatine revealed himself as a "i can help you save her" move.

I stand with a rare few who believe that maul would utterly demolish Vader. Vader is a character who is totally over estimated namely for being the main character. Vader may be the main character of the SW:OT but many people forget that he is a flawed character. case in point Anakin in his prime had a pure connection to the force but was undisciplined therefore flawed and weak. later Vader became disciplined but lost his pure connection to the force with the loss of his limbs. Vader would have been unstoppable if these 2 sides were 1, I believe that Maul was 1 step below the total of what Vader could have been. the only thing that preventing that was the pure connection from being born of the force.
Omniscient Being if you are going by expanded universe then maybe but in the movies alone he's useless he does next to nothing and he is so insignificant they never bring him up again he was tragically underused and wasted he did nothing but look cool now if he was the villain throughout the prequel trilogy instead of killing get him in his first appearance like vador was the villain of the original trilogy it would of been 10th more interesting just replace all of count doku role in episode 2 and 3 and give it to maul instead including the force lightning in the first one he was an apprentice and the years between 1-2 he could of spent all of his haterid of obi wan for what he did training bettering him self for round 2 and during that end battle in episode 2 give all of do us powers to him and that would nog gave him an arc and he would of became more powerful from learning new skills and tricks hell darth maul was killed by a padawon while vador hunted down nearly every powerful and none powerful judo and killed them all except for a hand full vador would destroy him just force choke him and he is done there isn't a person in that series that has survived a full on force choke a skill maul does not have and with this force choke he can snap a person's neck in an instant so he just use this ability on maul and he's done
@don birkinshaw everything I stated was in the movies. um Maul killed Gui-gon 1 on 1, and Gui-gon was second in lightsaber combat only to Mace Windu and yoda (yes that's true, mace was yoda's equal.) I agree that Maul was tragically under used, my point is compared to Vader Maul as a whole (no pun intended) is vastly more powerful than Vader, because Vader is 2 separate people. first is Anakin a whinny kid with a prodigy like gift but no focus, discipline, or training. second is Vader wiser version of the kid, only more trained but lack of connection to the force he once possessed as a kid. Vader is strong with telekinesis, so is maul as a matter of fact what we see is better than vader's ability. I don't remember seeing vader use the force in the middle of a fight without stopping, also maul's precision is uncanny. you are trying to point out that maul was defeated by a padawan, that is not what happened not even close. Maul was a sith assassin that took 2 jedi to defeat and even then the defeat we saw was Obi-wan using the dark side to gain an advantage when he didn't have one. now we have Maul in SW rebels so we know that Obi-wan didn't actually kill maul. but maul still killed Gui-gon. but I can't argue that maul didn't really do anything but look cool, but what he did do was better in every way. in my opinion of course lol.

A few scenes in revenge of the sith and in a new hope obi wan said vador hunted down and killed almost all the jedi very powerful ones to week ones and only left a handful left and also killed obiwan granted he scraficed him self and vador took the chance but even if he didn't I think vador would of killed him and obiwan knew it. and you forgot the force choke ability which he can do from so far away and it works in an instant he can snap his neck with out even looking at him as shown in the movies hell in empire he kills someone over face time he calls someone far away either a different part of the ship or to a different ship intirely and he choked him to death with out even being in the same room as the person he force choked he was miles away. And no vador is more powerful with force ability except force lightning and it's not that he's not powerful enough to use it he is powerful enough it's just that with him being made mostly out of metal and robot parts it would be a bad idea to use it and he would light up like a Christmas tree. vador is stronger with the force and maul is stronger with the lightsabor then most sith he would do so during battle didn't you watch rouge one where he sloughted all those people by throwing them all other the place and through ceiling and a wall and in empire strikes back in his fight with luke he picked up so much heavy shit a round him and even heavy stuff that was nailed down and throws them at luke several heavy objects at once some that was strapped down some not and hurled them at him with out even trying in the fight he wasn't using his full power or in return of the Jedi not even close when he lost round 2 because he didn't want to kill him just toy with him and ruff him up a bit and even then in those fights he wasn't using even close to half of his power to fight and lift heavy stuff at the same time. and rebels dont count I said only movies because those are the ones the general public knows I know maul is a lot better in TV shows and expanded universe but we are going strictly by the movies here and maul was so insignificant to the overall story that he never gets mentioned again not even in the other 2 prequels or on the other movies but I can give a pass for the original movies not mentioning him because maul wasn't even thought of back then when the original trilogy was being made so I let that slide but that doesn't change the fact in the Intiraty of the prequal trilogy he is never mentioned again that's how little impact he made to the story which is sad because he could of been a very good well thought out villi an of the prequal trilogy but because they didn't do that with him Intiraty can't pretend they did so what we have in the movies of maul is a complete joke he's not even a full character he is so 1 dimension in the movie he does nothing but stand around, have two lines of dialogue and has a quick little fight at the end you do no not takes more then a good fight to make a good villain you need character development backstory, character arc a reason to side with him a good motivation anything other then two lines of dialogue and fight he doesn't get no exposure I would of much prefer it if they removed most of jar jars blocks Un relevant Ness and that big space battle where anikain accidently destroys the mother ship base and give these bits of screen time to developing maul the villain of the movie but no they don't and and just makes him a boring waste of ptetentual because he had nothing to work with all he did I have a cool fight and lightsabor it takes more then that to be a good character so much so he's jot a character he's a plot device he is only there because oh its star wars movie and their needs to be a lightsabor fight no real reason for it just shove it in their maul annoys me most in the movies because in one "character" it represents the pretual all the prequal movies could of had his it was good, better thought out and better writing for the characters and story considering those two things are the important not flashy fight scenes fight seens are the icing on the cake if if the cake is shit, discussting and poorly made the icing isn't going going to help much sorry this was a bit of a long one I had a lot to say
Omniscient Being ill admit if it was just a lightsabor duel with no force ability darth maul would most likely win but vs for is stronger with the force and according to yoda the wisest jedi of them all stated the the power of the force is much greater then a lightsabor which Is why the prequels ducked that up by giving him a lightsabor he should of just purely been a force user I think there should of been two class one that's mostly a sword man and one that are essentially makes who just use the force and nothing else that's the way I thought it was going in the original trilogy obiwan was the sword man and teached luke to use the lightsabor while yoda teached him to use the force yoda never once teached him to use his sabor. anyway that's a rant for an other day but as you said vapor was born from the force itself his force ability are much stronger then mauls because after vador suffered his injury he had to call on the force and finally tune it more to compensate for his skill with the lightsabor because he got slower he had to up his arsenal by improving his force powers 10 fold and vador suit courses him so much pain and anger it fuels his power more then mauls hate because vador is trapped in one of the most painful prisons he can't really get away from his suit and that anger and hatred is what makes vador so much stronger and powerful he'll apparently vador was offered a new and better suit that would return him to aniline power level on mustafar and beyond but vador turned it down because the suit coursed so much pain and torment it made him incredibly more powerful then you give credit for not many people beat vador and the only reason luke won in the end is because vador was holding back and seemed to actually want his son to win because he didn't want to kill him.
Don Birkinshaw are you refering to the scene in revenge of the sith where Anakin shows up at the jedi temple with a legion of clone troopers? yeah...that scene was Anakin killing young-lings and jedi teachers NOT jedi masters and I am sure the clones didn't just sit around playing sabaac. the jedi masters were fighting the war and were killed in order 66 by clone troop commanders not anakin. the ending scene in rogue one, yeah Vader is undoubtedly slaughtering non-jedi. but all Vader is really doing is reflecting blaster shots, either with his lightsaber or with the force like he did to Han solo on bespin. also to my point Vader stops in the middle of combat to force choke a dude and throw him back when in the phantom menace we see Maul hurl a droid head at a control panel to open the blast doors while still fighting 2 full on Jedi. Vader may have held back in his duels with luke, but vader didn't want luke dead first off and second luke wasn't fully trained so it isn't a good gauge for how powerful vader was.

That’s actually the reason I never followed through with the rest of the films. They continuously built up a character just to kill them in a quick, stupid ass way. It was honestly just that the entire series.

I think Maul was more powerful than Vader after episode 3 because Vader was not as powerful as he was in 3. If we were talking about Vader from episode 3, then it would be a totally different story.

Mattphillips 0516, I disagree because Maul was much faster, and even though Maul's force abilities were not as great as Vader's, he used most of his force abilities to enhance his speed and physical capacities. Maul is also very aggressive, and would not tire. This would lead to Vader slowing down, and Maul would be able to catch Vader off guard, delivering the fatal blow.

In sixth grade I read some Darth Maul book by Rhyder Windham. I loved it some much that Maul became my favorite character. I had already loved him from the first film, but this cemented it. I keep a foam head in my room that I painted with his markings and call "Mall" just to tease him.
