To clarify, while it gets to 105… do you ever use that portion on a somewhat regular basis to solidify that this could be a good option for looking for best of both worlds?
Have you tried using the heater portion yet? Curious if it heats up well - or even if temperatures are going below freezing if it will automatically switch to heat to keep water above freezing?
I'd love to remodel a bathroom, such that with a flip of a switch somewhere, ice-water comes out of the shower-head! Any thoughts if this is do-able , or is a shower's water flow too much for on-demand ice-cold?
I watched some of your other videos mentioning sanitation with additives hydrogen peroxide etc, sediment filters and ozonators. with this chiller and the built in sanitation do you not need to use all of those things ? What’s your experience been? Thx
The need for anything extra is definitely reduced for sure. I still use the sanitizer to help extend the water life. The only downside to this particular chiller is that the filter is a 5" filter not 10" and therefore needs to be changed more often. Otherwise, the internal UV seems to do a pretty good job.
I'm thinking about getting this chiller based on the review. Seems like a good option. Just want to make sure you can use it with the Long Pod from the Ice pod company? Does it easily hook up just like the one that they sell?
For me it has been reliable and still works great. To hook it up to the Long Pod, you’ll likely need to purchase a couple 1/2” to 3/4” adapters but otherwise it will pair up nicely. If you haven’t already, check out my video on the new SaunaBox chiller. It’s a little less money and the hoses are a direct fit for the Long Pod. Only downside is it’s on preorder. Likely to ship in the next couple weeks.
@@ben_chill thanks for confirming. I did watch your video on the SaunaBox chiller and that looked really good as well. I already order the long pod (yet to arrive), so I don't mind waiting on the chiller if it is preorder. I am just going to use ice at first and then get the chiller. I'd rather get something that is a direct fit versus needing to use adaptors. Thanks again
@@jimg1974ooof, that will be a lot of ice, lol. I think you’ll really like the SaunaBox chiller. The ozone does a really great job at keeping the water clean.
Absolutely! I have it connected to an Ice Barrel 300 and the connections are the same with the 500. The 400 has the same size on the bottom, but of course no upper port. However, Ice Barrel now sells a chiller conversion kit for the IB400. Anyway, it works great!
@@ben_chillCan you confirm if the 1/2hp chiller is capable of reaching its advertised 40-43 degrees fahrenheit when paired with an insulated plunge like the Ice Barrel 300 or 500?
Once you have the chiller connected in the app, you simply click on the schedule icon on the bottom of the screen and it will show you the entire week. Click on each individual day and you can set the temperature and for how long. Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction.
@@ben_chill While the chiller is connected to the app, I do not see a "Schedule" option. The only options visible at the bottom are "Switch", "Mode", and "Timer". Under the "Timer" option, I can determine specific days and times for it to power on or off. However, there is no option to set a specific temperature for these specific “power on” times. I appreciate your assistance, but I'm unsure what I'm missing. Is there a guide available that could help me with the setup?
Hello- question for you on this chiller.............can you run the chiller with just the pump and not have to set a specific water temperature? I am thinking when the climate is at the 50-60 degrees I wouldn't necessarily need to keep the water at an exact temperature. Thanks!
Yep, being sponsored and being an affiliate are two different things and I do disclose both very clearly in this video. I guess take the discount or leave it. Thanks for watching. BTW, 4 months since making this video and the chiller still works great!
I've been using it with my Ice Barrel 300, which is about 70 gallons or so. I'm about to try it with an inflatable tub and that's about 110 gallons. I'm sure it won't have any issues.
Ordered mine today. Thanks for the video. Your code worked.
Thank you! I hope it works really well for you.
Any thoughts on chillers with heaters? Do they actually heat well for heated therapy as well?
The one I have gets to 105F which is about the same as a hot tub.
Have you had any experience using the heated portion of it? Looking hard for the best all in one chiller and heater option.
To clarify, while it gets to 105… do you ever use that portion on a somewhat regular basis to solidify that this could be a good option for looking for best of both worlds?
Which button do I press to make the chiller able to pair to app?

I did once to try the feature. Heated up to around 105. It won't automatically switch, but you can set the temp to change on a schedule.

Powered on, sure but I’d cycle the pump off so it doesn’t wear out.
As someone who sells large air cooled chillers for hvac it blows my mind that these arent all fully rated for outdoor operation
