My vote is double shocks with the lightest springs possible.

Double shocks for looks and single shocks for performance. I would run it both ways and see how you like it. I think as long as they don't bind up the suspension double is fine. Your very experienced with setting up RC but I have not had good luck with duel shocks on other cars. Unfortunately I don't own a Clod Buster so I really don't know. It does look better. The chassis is absolutely awesome. Great share.

You could keep the double shock and remove the springs from one set, so you have all the absorption with out the resistance. I do that on my Bomber...

Looking good! I like that chassis. I want to get something like that on my Clod!

My vote is double Shocks - only one having a Spring. That's how I'm setting mine up. 😉

I built it with the same stuff. Single shock if you want the suspension to work properly. Double shocks for shelf queen.

You’re going to love the chassis, and it’s a retro so it’s going to be bouncy regardless, but the weight in the middle keeps it going where you want regardless of what you decide to go with. Can’t wait to see it done! And if you want to race it, go with the JConcepts Silent Speed 27T motors. 👌🏻

Thanks for sharing. I’ve watched this a few times already, and I just noticed that you were able to tuck the steering link that connects the servo horn to the carbon fiber rack. Mine kept popping off whenever I bash a little too hard because it gets snagged for being a little to exposed. I’m just a weekend basher so I use a servo saver. I’d have to look for a lower profile servo to be able do what you did. Thanks again for sharing.

Love the build! The clodbuster was my first hobby grade rc and my all time favorite. I found an old Clod recently for $50 and also put on the Jconcepts Regulator chassis and steering links, and rear lockout. I also put on the Jconcepts Golden year tires. I went with the Rc4wd Ignitor beadlocks and traxxas ultra shocks. Currently have dual shocks on each corner but might change it to one as it feels quite stiff. I went with the same body that you did and I added the Traxxas Bigfoot bumpers and roll bar.

Double shocks is one of the things that sets the Clod apart so I say lighter oil in the shocks and double em up.

I'm still thinking about the chassis for my next Clod project. I'll probably use the hidden steering from JC. That's perfect for my hobby style of driving and will improve the rig. But the chassis in my mind is more for competitions, which we don't have here in Europe. The chssis is great bur for my reqirements it's a little bit kind of overkill. This might be not so over the pond. So thank you for the presentation😀.

It’s such a sin to put a Ford body or anything ford on a clodbuster. Love the idea of the jconcepts but the cold buster Chevy body still is the best. I’m not a Chevy person by any means either lol definitely not a Ford. It’s more how the tamiya clodbuster worked so well with the original body. Specially tricked out.

I really wanted to build one of these when they were released. So I emailed Jconcepts with a few questions and also about availability for the UK. No answer. So I emailed again two weeks later.
