Lost girlfriends 05 Highlander key. Have a fob to unlock thankfully but can't start without the ignition key. What is my first step? Taking the lock cylinder out and checking on the app?

Sorry, I was very busy checking TH-cam emails. Take the door lock cylinder out it should have the key code to cut the blade

Unfortunately it seems the ignition was changed so it likely won't match the doors but I've got keys on the way to see if it'll work

This can be done by Lonsdor with AP25 adaptor or if you have the key tool plus from XHORSE they have a new adaptor for the new Toyota coming soon

I remember it should be Atmel 25020 / with ECU NUMBER 89661-52721, with a key Chip: TEXAS ID 4C TAG, Key blade: TOY 38R,

also did you try to start with a normal key ( no chip ) sometimes it works without programming!!!

for your car year and model 1998-2005, the best way is to clone your current key, otherwise, you need to read the EEPROM data and virgins it
